Roger Barel Main Route - Chapter 18
As usual, can’t guarantee 100% accuracy on this. I’m doing this for archiving purposes and you can probably find a better translation out there.
Alfons: Speaking of, did you know? It has been almost a month since Kate has become Fairytale Keeper.
Though he knew that, some sort of surprise arose in his chest.
Roger: Yeah, it’s…already been a month. Time flies by when you get older.
Alfons: So, how is there any progress to proving that romantic love exists?
Roger: You could say that there’s still not enough research. —However, there’s one thing I noticed.
Roger adjusted his glasses with his middle finger, the black frames reflecting the light.
Roger: “What you call romantic love’s just a dysfunction of the brain or a misunderstanding caused by sexual desire.” That’s my definition of romantic love and I don’t think it’ll ever change. But—I might’ve been ignoring something when I made that definition.
Alfons: What was it?
Roger: We’re cursed to meet a “tragic end”.
Alfons: …
Roger: Our tragic end’s unavoidable. Even if I loved someone. If we can’t change the end, then the love leads down to a bad ending.
“I won’t despair”——Those words that she threw out into the world drew me toward her.
I allowed myself to bask in the pleasure of being by her side as she taught me about love.
I decided to accept this emotion called “love”, which had been an unidentifiable emotion throughout my life.
However, what I saw was—reality hadn’t changed.
Alfons: So it would have been better not to have fallen in love in the first place? Truly an egoistic way of thinking.
Roger: But you know, even if you think like that, there are things you want really badly. Love’s inefficient and I can live my life without it. That view won’t change. But, I don’t give it enough credit—I’ve realized how fun it can be.
Alfons: …o_o
Roger gave an awkward smile as Alfons was struck speechless.
In that moment, the eyes behind those glasses blinked two or three times as if they realized something.
Roger: …Hm?
Alfons: …What is it?
Roger: The place that’s supposed to be locked…is open.
Roger rummaged through the drawers of his workbench and frowned.
Roger: …It’s not here.
Alfons: Has something gone missing?
Roger: The formulation documents for a drug to remove curses… That and a bunch of my other research materials too… Just how long ago were they stolen? Who the hell would steal something so important to me…
Victor: —Pardon me.
Victor came through the lab’s door, his expression dark.
Alfons: What’s the matter, Victor? That’s an unusually grim look on your face.
Victor: Roger. There’s—There’s an arrest warrant issued for you.
Roger: …O_O
Alfons: …o_o
Roger: …Pfft…haha. I see, so that’s how it is. Who set me up?
--
Kate: Hm, I think it’s fine now. It looks like the swelling in my wrist went down overnight.
(Roger’s treatment is just as good as I expected)
I carefully rotated my wrist to check if there was any pain…
Ale: Arf arf arf!
The sound coming from out in the hall was definitely Ale’s barking.
Kate: Ale?
When I opened my door, Ale squeezed through the gap into my room.
Ale: Arf arf arf!
Kate: Hold on, what’s wrong, Ale?
It was like he was trying to tell me something through his barks, and I felt a strange uneasiness.
Ale: Wooo, arf.
Ale circled around me before running out the room…
Kate: Huh, Ale? Wait, where are you going?
--
I ended up following Ale to the palace gardens.
(That’s…!)
I saw Roger being taken away by men in suits and rushed over to them.
Kate: Roger.
Roger: …Kate. Ah, and you brought Ale along.
Roger looked down at Ale at his feet, his wrists cuffed—
(What’s the meaning of this?)
Kate: What in the world is going on?
Roger: …
I stared at them, but all I got in return was silence…
Kate: Where are you planning on taking Roger?
Roger: That’s enough, Kate. These gentlemen were sent by the Privy Council.
(The Privy Council…they’re hostile toward Crown, but why take Roger?
Privy Council member: There’s an arrest warrant issued for Roger Barel. We will be turning him over to the police.
Kate: …An arrest warrant?
(For Roger? Why?)
(...I don’t know what’s going on)
Privy Council member: Let’s go.
Kate: Please wait! Let me talk to Roger for a moment.
Privy Council member: We don’t have time for that. Step aside.
Kate: Please.
Ale: Arf arf! Arf arf!
Then, Ale jumped at the Privy Council members who were about to take Roger away and had refused to listen to me.
Privy Council member: Woah! What’s with this dog!
(Now’s my chance!)
Kate: Roger, this way!
Roger: Hey…
I grabbed Roger’s arm and pulled him away.
--
I led him to the garden behind the palace.
(This should buy us some time…)
Kate: Roger, what’s the meaning of this? Arrest…
Roger: Calm down, Kate. Whatever’s going on is just as you heard.
Kate: …There’s really an arrest warrant?
I frowned at Roger and a deep sigh filled the space between us.
Roger: …Yeah, long story short—I’ve been set up by the Privy Council. I’m now a criminal and a traitor to Crown. At first, I thought it was one of those Vogel guys behind it. Never thought it’d be one of our own.
(He was set up…I don’t understand)
I couldn’t understand the situation, nor could I understand why Roger was so calm about this.
However, what stuck with me the most was—
Kate: …Traitor? You…?
~~ Flashback ~~
Roger: However, I’m gonna change my fate. It’s absurd to allow myself to be controlled by it. Kate, I’ve taken a liking to you so I’ll promise you this. I will never betray you without a reason. Never.
~~ End flashback ~~
(I remember the promise he made that night)
(No one’s fought against their curse as hard as Roger has)
(That’s why I couldn’t believe that Roger would unknowingly betray anyone without intentions—)
Kate: …There’s no way that will ever happen. You would never betray Crown!
Roger: …I could.
My ears picked up a thin, disconnected voice.
Kate: Roger…?
Roger: …It’s laughable, isn’t it…?
Our eyes met and within my chest was the sound of something breaking.
Those amber eyes that always held strong will now held despair.
Roger: I swore to myself that I’d tame my curse. I wouldn’t let fate drive me mad like God’s whim. I resolved to never betray anyone unknowingly. ..And yet. You can’t fight it…just by your will alone?
Words gushed out from the depths of despair, and I felt my chest tighten to the point I couldn’t breathe.
Kate: …
Roger: Is this how I meet my tragic end? …Surrendering myself to my curse…
(Don’t make that face)
Kate: No… You won’t! You can’t let your curse beat you—
I heard the voices and footsteps of those searching for us and quickly hid behind a hedge of Chinese privet.
I took Roger’s hand when I heard the footsteps come closer.
Let’s ask someone for help
Run away with me +4 +4
I’ll hide you
Kate: Run away with me, Roger.
Roger: That’d just make the crime worse.
Kate: …I still don’t have a complete grasp on the situation. However, I know you’ve been falsely accused. Until that gets cleared up…
Roger: Kate, though we ended up spending time together by pure chance, I enjoyed it.
(Huh?)
Kate: What are you talking about at a time like this?
(No. You’re making it sound like you want to go quietly…)
Roger: Take care of Ale. My old man should be back soon to pick him up.
Roger picked Ale up and shoved him in my arms*
Kate: Eh, huh?
Roger: And when your time as Fairytale Keeper’s up, turn to Victor. He’s a good one.
Kate: Roger, what are you saying?
(It’s like you’re treating this as our final time together)
(...Is this…our final time?)
Roger: And finally.
Those lips that wove words I didn’t want to hear landed on mine.
And then…the kiss ended before it could warm my heart
Roger: —Kate, I've fallen for you.
Kate: …
Roger: Heh, what’s with that dumb look? You didn’t notice? You’re pretty dense for someone that boasted about being a teacher of love. You’ve got terrible drinking habits and hate losing, but you’re earnest and stubborn. I know your bad points. Still, even with all this trouble…Kate, I adore you.
What a person.
Saying things I wanted to hear at a time like this.
There’s a limit to being an egoist.
Kate: …Why are you telling me all of this now?!
Roger: ‘Cause I might never see you again. My ego’s telling me I’ll regret not telling you.
Kate: Never see me again…
Roger: I’m retracting my definition of “romantic love’s just a dysfunction of the brain or a misunderstanding caused by sexual desire.” Love definitely exists in this world. Q.E.D.
Tangled threads of emotion unravel.
The moment I thought I could honestly tell him that I love him, now that I’ve finally cast my competitiveness and childish pride aside—
Privy Council member: There they are, I found them!
Roger: Whoops, looks like time’s up. They’re so impatient.
Kate: Roger…
Roger: See ya, Kate. Take care. Ale, you live a long life too.
Ale: …Kuuuuun?
Roger: …Can’t even pet you cuties’ heads with these handcuffs on.
He had a boyish smile on his face as he turned away from us.
Kate: No, Roger! Don’t go! …Roger, Roger! There’s no way you can’t hear me! Roger!
And thus—Roger disappeared from my sight.
-
*I honestly thought that when Kate ran with Roger, she left Ale with the Privy Council

Banishment Spell🔮
A spell to banish a person and keep their ill intentions and negative energy away from you.
What you will need:
- a dark, peaceful environment
- a black candle
- pen/pencil
- small bit of paper
- fire safe tongs/utensils*
- fireproof surface to work on
- your energy and focus
- a shallow dish of water
- salt or sand (I use sea salt)
Method:
Begin with a clean and fireproof surface to work on. Furthest away from you, place the black candle. Closer to you, place a shallow dish of water. You must have enough room to safely work and not disturb the salt circle during the spell.
- This spell works best when done in a dark room or at nighttime. Allow the sole candle to be your light source.
- Cast a circle, or begin the spell how you see fit.
- Harness your energy and begin the spell by lighting the black candle.
- Engage with its protective glow and energy. Allow its warmth to flow through you.
- Gather your salt or sand. As you make a salt/sand circle around the outside of your shallow water dish, envision its protective properties.
- Write down the name of the person you wish to banish on a small bit of paper.
- Roll up the paper and envision the person’s negative, stale energy and grip on you being enfolded and trapped within.
- With your fire safe utensil hold the paper over the flame. As it burns down to nearly ashes, say chant, or repeat in your mind:
“You’ve crossed a line with me
Now I banish thee”
- Bring the paper over your water dish. Release it. As the ashes and remnants of paper dissolve into the water, say, chant, or repeat in your mind:
“You’ve lost your grip on me
Now I banish thee!”
- Allow the candle to burn down fully. Or, you may take the candle and place it into the shallow dish of water; allow it to burn down fully in there.
- Close the circle you cast.
- Once completely cooled, you may leave the mixture overnight for a more aggressive banishment — ensure the salt/sand circle remains undisturbed.
- Otherwise, remove the burnt down candle/wax once completely cooled and dispose of it safely. Do not bury it.
Note: If you wish to use this spell on more than one person, you must repeat the entire process.
*Please do not attempt this spell if you are uncomfortable working with fire, are not well versed in fire safety, currently live in a dorm/campus housing, etc. Be safe, be smart, and remember there are always flameless candles and alternate methods of banishment.

Bright light burst into the room and the familiar voices of Ros and Jo broke through the shroud of silence that had formed in the room. Halos around their heads. Amy winced against the light….
As Amy lay in bed, waking, she saw Lucas’ outline, his form haloed by a bright light. He was in the doorway. Every time he stood in the doorway, the room dark, with only light from the hallway behind him, it took her back. It felt as if she were time travelling back to her time locked away with nothing by Simon Caulfield’s slimy words for company.
Lucas limped into the room. She could hear his shouts in her mind as Simon Caulfield had put a bullet in his thigh merely seconds before Ros and Jo saved them. Then once they had both been released, Amy and Lucas had been in hospital overnight. They had been given their own private room due to the nature of their reasoning for being in hospital.
Harry had given them both time off to recuperate, and offered counselling. Lucas, as he had done many times, politely rejected Harry’s offer. However, Amy knew that she would probably find herself fighting against the memories for some time.
Lucas got into bed beside Amy, and studied her for a moment. There were dark circles beneath her eyes, but gradually they had begun to fade and the light in her eyes was starting to reappear.
Amy curled her arm around his head, her fingers sifting through his short hair. He was literally her everything.
***
Richard Holland held a small package in his hand, thinking back on the postman’s words that it had been sent first class but accidentally got lost at the depot, so was a week late. He ripped open the thick envelope finding a small stack of papers inside. On the top was a note, written in capital letters.
RICHARD AND SHARON HOLLAND,
THE ENCLOSED PHOTOGRAPHS ARE PROOF THAT LUCAS NORTH IS NOT WHO HE APPEARS TO BE. YOUR DAUGHTER IS IN DANGER.
Richard felt his whole body grow cold at the sight of photos of Amy bound to a chair and blindfolded. Then further photographs showed Amy lying on the pavement in a pool of her own blood, next to another woman also shot. With Lucas standing over both of them, a gun in his hand.
***
Amy and Lucas were still off work when the phone call came. Lucas was sat on the sofa with a mug of coffee, flicking through the channels, rolling his eyes at how shit day time TV was. Amy had been cleaning the kitchen; mundane tasks were enough to take her mind away from the thoughts of Simon Caulfield. The pain in her neck and back was fading day by day, but still enough to cause her grief and keep up a steady dose of painkillers.
“Dad?” Amy asked. “Everything okay?” Amy sat down at the kitchen table and sighed, wincing at sharp stab of pain which shot through her neck.
“I’m coming to fetch you, Amy. You’re not to stay with that bastard any longer!” Richard Holland demanded. “Your mum knew there was something behind the shooter; I know she was involved with Lucas. And I know you were took hostage last week.”
A rod of ice shot down Amy’s back and her heart raced in her chest. “D…Dad….what’s happened?”
“I’m coming to London to get you. He better not be there when I come because I’ll kill the bastard!” Richard seethed.
“Dad, please, stop it.”
“No, I won’t stop it, Amy. I am not prepared to let him do this to you. It’s a good job your mum is at work and hasn’t seen the photos. I won’t let her see them.”
“Who sent you the photos?”
“It doesn’t matter who sent them. I’m coming to get you. Pack some things.”
“Dad…please….”
Lucas could hear Amy’s pleas and hobbled into the kitchen. “Aim, what’s going on?”
Richard growled down the phone line. “Trying to play the protector now, is he? He can fuck himself. He’d better not be there when I come and get you because I really will kill him…”
Amy was weeping as her father disconnected the call. She held the phone in her shaking hand, until it finally fell from her grasp and hit the floor. “Dad knows!” she sobbed. “He’s got photos of me from last week and when I was shot. He’s coming to take me back to Coventry. I can’t leave.”
Lucas’ breath caught in his throat. Everything he loved was slipping away, and for a few seconds he tried to grapple with some kind of rational thought. He knew he couldn’t fight this one; Amy’s father was right. Despite having not heard Richard’s side of the conversation, Lucas knew he was doing the right thing. Amy had to be safe.
Amy dashed at Lucas, grabbing his shirt. She could see in his face that he was admitting defeat.
“You need to go with him, Aim. They can keep you safe: I can’t,” Lucas said, his voice breaking. “I love you too much to let you keep being hurt. He’s doing this because he loves you, Amy. He fucking loves you…and so do I.” His voice finally broke. Tears fell down Lucas’ cheeks and he took Amy into his arms, holding her tight. “Go with him, angel. I can’t keep you safe anymore.”
“You can,” Amy wept, looking up at him. “I want to be with you, Lucas. More than anything. Don’t push me away.”
“I’m not pushing you away because I want to. Fuck. Can’t you see that? It’s because I love you more than anything that I’m doing this.”
“If I do go, I’ll come back,” Amy argued. “They can’t make me stay.”
Lucas smiled through the tears. “You are the bravest person I’ve ever met.”
The next two hours were crippling as Amy packed two suitcases full of clothing. Lucas watched her from the doorway, knowing that letting her go was the only way to keep her safe. Amy belonged with her family who could be the stability she needed. “I am coming back,” Amy said defiantly, stopping for a second with a pile of underclothes in her hands. “I don’t intend on staying there for long.”
“You’ll stay as long as you need to.”
“I’m only doing this to please you and Dad for now, but I’ll be coming back,” Amy countered. She approached Lucas and lifted her hand, cupping his cheek. He kissed her palm, turning into her touch. Then suddenly he kissed her hard, catching her off guard. Heat mounted so high between them and within seconds, Lucas’ lips were trailing down Amy’s throat.
They made love on the bed. It was like the very first time they had made love: intense, passionate, full of want. As Lucas came and then rested his head on her chest, he whispered, “I need to let you go.”
“Lucas, no!” Amy whimpered. “Don’t you dare!”
Lucas got up from the bed, untangling himself from her and re-buttoned his shirt, and then pulled his jeans up, re-buckling his belt.
“When we got back together, I should have known I wouldn’t be worth it,” Amy growled. “I’m never worth it, am I?”
“You are worth everything!” Lucas shot back. His eyes were wide and his whole face was contorted in anger and frustration. “How the fuck can you say you’re not worth it? I’m doing this because I love you. I should have known better than ever bring you into any of this. I should have stayed away when I first saw you.”
Amy choked as she heard those words and dropped to the bed. “You regret me….”
“I would never regret you. I only regret that I caused you so much pain. Your dad won’t be too much longer, I don’t think.” He looked at the clock; Coventry was about a three hour drive away from London. It was now just after one in the afternoon and Richard had called at eleven. “Go with your dad. You are loved so much more than you could ever imagine. By all of us.”
Lucas walked out of the room and picked up his keys in the hallway.
Amy followed on behind, calling after him.
Before Lucas left the flat, he kissed Amy hard one last time. “I adore you so much,” he choked. “Be happy, angel, but more important, be safe.”
Amy sobbed on the doorstep as Lucas left. She watched his form walk down the hallway and out the main door into the street. Pain was ripping her so raw inside and in her own mind she knew that she could never give up on Lucas North completely. No matter what happened and what evil things were thrown at them. Their love would be stronger than any of it.
***
Amy sat in her dad’s car as they drove back to Coventry. There was only silence and the gentle sway of the car as it swept along the motorway. Until Richard broke open the silence. “Fancy a coffee?”
“Okay,” Amy whispered, her voice so hoarse after sobbing. Her cheeks were still vivid red and her eyes full of unshed tears. They threatened to fall at any moment. Just her dad’s kindness and soft voice made her want to cry all over again. Of course he was only protecting her; that had never been in dispute. That was all he and Lucas were doing.
Richard slipped out of the car and headed into a Costa at a motorway service station. Rain was beginning to spit as dark clouds began to move in. Amy stared out of the window, her focus glued to the spot in front of her where a family were getting into their car. A dark haired man, accompanied by a blonde woman. A toddler and an older child, who looked to be around ten. They looked happy.
The sound of the driver door opening snapped Amy back to reality and made her jump. Richard noticed his daughter’s shock and smiled sadly at her. “Here you go, love,” he said, offering her a large latte. “Extra shot of caramel.” Then he winked.
As Richard started the engine, he sighed. “I’m sorry, Amy,” he said. “I’m only doing this for your good; you know that, don’t you? I know you love Lucas. But being with him is going to put you at risk.”
“I know, Dad,” Amy said, her voice quiet. “I know you’re doing this to help me and because you love me.”
“You might be a grown woman, but your mum and I would do anything for you, you know that. We want you safe. No matter how old your children get, your responsibility for them never stops.”
The car was still stationary as Richard glanced across at Amy’s hands in her lap, and he noticed something dark around her wrist as her jumper sleeve had ridden up her arm. “Fucking hell,” he whispered. “Your wrists.”
***
Lucas slammed the flat door as he walked back inside, knowing Amy would be gone by now. The silence was deafening, and a gasp came from the very back of his throat. She’d gone. Her room was tidy, but her diary from her bedside table was gone, along with her slippers and most of the toiletries from the bathroom. He opened her wardrobe, just to feel the pain of her departure even more. There were barely any clothes left.
In the kitchen and Lucas slumped down on the floor, feeling the cold of tiles against his backside and thighs. Pain from the bullet wound shot down his leg, but he didn’t care. The pain couldn’t compare to that of letting Amy go. He pulled his phone from his jeans pocket and looked at the photo of them on his lock screen. She was his everything. Though the pain was excruciating, her very presence in his life had helped him to feel once more. All of the emotional and mental numbness he had felt since coming home from Russia, had been burned away by Amy Holland. She made him feel happiness, contentment, love, pleasure. But also pain. Pain seemed to be a constant in his life now, a permanent friend.
***
Amy stepped into her parents’ house, feeling the wave of familiarity rush through her. The smell of a home she had left many years ago – it was still exactly the same. It hadn’t been that long since she and Lucas had been visiting for new year, but this was different. Today marked the day she would be staying for longer. Maybe until all of this blew over, and then she could be with Lucas again. So she hoped.
“Your mum isn’t home yet, but I’ve burned the photos. I can’t let her see those. What happened, Amy? The truth, please,” Richard asked, his voice was low but firm. He had never been a demanding man, instead always being gentle with his daughters. But today had shown Amy just how fierce he really could be. “You know who sent those images, don’t you?”
“It’s all secret information…”
“No, Amy! I won’t have that shit,” Richard growled. “Tell me. I don’t care if it’s top secret and a risk to national security, or whatever, you’re my daughter and I deserve to know what happened to you.”
Amy stood in the kitchen and looked up at her dad who was waiting for an answer. He had his arms folded and his face was set in a straight expression.
“The woman who shot me was Lucas’ ex and a CIA agent. She faked her death because she killed her boss and went on the run. Then she must have found out about me and Lucas, and tried to make me think he wasn’t really in love with me. And she collared us outside the café that morning and went to shoot Lucas, but I stopped her. And Lucas killed her.”
Richard sighed and held his hand to his mouth. “Fucking hell, Amy.”
“It was Sarah’s brother who took me hostage, wanting to get revenge on him. Apparently, the accomplice of Simon Caulfield was Sarah’s ex-husband; I was told that in the hospital. They went rogue together to get revenge on Lucas.”
“And you were still prepared to stay with him after all this?” Richard asked, his eyes wide.
“I love him,” Amy replied softly. Tears were falling down her cheeks again. “I’ve never loved anyone else like this, and he actually loves me back. For so long I never felt I’d ever find a man who could love me...”
“Oh, love,” Richard sighed. He took Amy into his arms and held her tight as she wept on him. Through tears, Richard looked up at the ceiling, asking in prayer for the strength to be what his daughter needed.
Once Sharon was home from work, Richard explained the whole story to his wife.
“Where are the photos, Rich?” Sharon asked. Her dark eyes were wide with shock and her hands were shaking.
Amy was sat at the other end of the table, feeling as though her whole body was closed off. She hung her head, feeling ashamed of everything that had occurred.
“It doesn’t matter about the photos. I got rid of them. I wasn’t letting you see them,” Richard replied.
Sharon walked towards her daughter. She was slow and deliberate, and her gaze was locked on her daughter’s arms. Her skin was concealed by a thick jumper. Sharon leaned down and gently pushed the sleeve up on Amy’s left arm. “Oh, God,” she gasped, seeing black and purple bruising around Amy’s wrist.

My Favorite 30+ Clean Girl Gifts You'll Love Too
Basic Long Sleeve Shirt
If you're looking for a stylish and comfortable long-sleeve t-shirt and a cheaper alternative to the Skims ones, this long-sleeve* is my favorite.
I particularly like the solid color options, as they make it easy to pair with different outfits and make them the perfect basic tops.
However, the fabric may not be suitable for those who prefer a more breathable material, as it has a swimsuit-like texture. Additionally, the sizing may run small, so I recommend you size up.
3 Piece Ribbed Seamless High Waist Shorts
This 3 piece set* in many different colors is one of my favorite gym shorts. They are super good for the price, last long, are flattering, and are also very comfortable to wear, so I also like to wear them at home.
However, I did notice that the shorts may not be suitable for people with wider hips, as they may ride up or feel tight in that area.
Aloe Vera Eye Mask– 60 Pcs
This is a must-have product if you're looking for an easy way to reduce puffiness, fine lines, and dark circles under your eyes.
The Aloe Vera Eye Pads* are made with natural ingredients that provide a long-lasting moisturizing effect to the skin around the eyes. You will notice your skin is refreshed and hydrated from the very first application.
I love how easy it is to use them. After cleaning my face and eyes with warm water, I put the eye pads under my eyes and press gently to secure them. I keep them on for 20 minutes, remove the eye pads, and gently pat the remaining essence.
The effect can be enhanced by placing them in the fridge overnight. It's incredibly refreshing in the morning.
They are also designed with a grid on one side, which allows me to move my body and work while using it. It's non-slip and doesn't fall off.

☆ what to carry in your makeup bag - skincare edition ☆
A good skincare routine should be simple, consistent, and tailored to their specific skin type and concerns. It's essential to prioritize gentle and hydrating products while avoiding harsh ingredients. Here's a basic daily skincare routine to follow:
Morning:
Cleansing - use a mild, gentle cleanser suited for your skin type. Look for one that removes dirt, oil, and impurities without stripping the skin of its natural oils. Cerave's cleansers are a great option designed for different types of skins.
Toning - apply an alcohol-free toner to help balance the skin's pH levels and prepare it for the next steps of your routine. Toners can also provide light hydration and soothe the skin. Lush's toners are my favorite.
Vitamin C Serum - apply a Vitamin C serum to help brighten the skin, fade dark spots, and protect it from environmental damage. Allow the serum to absorb fully before moving to the next step.
Eye Cream - gently dab on an eye cream to address any under-eye puffiness or dark circles. Look for an eye cream with ingredients like hyaluronic acid or peptides. Mine is from L'oreal.
Moisturizing - choose a lightweight, non-comedogenic moisturizer suitable for your skin type. Moisturizing is crucial for keeping the skin hydrated and maintaining a healthy skin barrier.
Sunscreen - apply a broad-spectrum sunscreen with at least SPF 30 every morning, even on cloudy days. This protects the skin from harmful UV rays and helps prevent premature aging and sun damage. Isdin's sunscreen is all over Tiktok because of how great it is.
Everning:
Makeup Removal - before starting your evening routine, make sure to remove all makeup thoroughly using a gentle makeup remover or cleansing oil. I love using micellar water from Garnier, but there are so many options out there.
Double Cleansing - follow up with a double cleanse. First, use an oil-based cleanser to remove any remaining sunscreen and makeup. Then, use your regular cleanser to cleanse the skin thoroughly.
Toning - repeat the toning step from your morning routine to prep your skin for the next products.
Serum - if you have specific skin concerns like acne or hyperpigmentation, apply a targeted treatment product, such as benzoyl peroxide or retinol. Use these treatments as directed and be cautious not to overuse them. I love to use The Ordinary products, especially the retinol and niacinamide ones.
Eye Cream - apply your eye cream once again to provide extra moisture and nourishment to the delicate skin around the eyes.
Moisturizer - apply a slightly richer or more nourishing moisturizer in the evening to help your skin recover and replenish overnight.
Weekly Treatments
Exfoliation - exfoliate your skin using a mild exfoliant with alpha hydroxy acids (AHAs) or beta hydroxy acids (BHAs). Exfoliation helps to remove dead skin cells and promote a smoother complexion
Masking - use a face mask that addresses your skin's specific needs, such as hydrating, purifying, or calming masks.

I wrote a one shot about the egg roll timeline (before it got fixed) because I felt like it but I don’t think I could justify uploading it to AO3 so here you go
It had been a few years since Dakota’s falling out with Cavendish on Christmas, and the dreaded holiday was back again. The first year after that event, he felt indifferent to it, but by the second he had realized how much he missed Cavendish. The two had quit their jobs at BOTT, due to not wanting to see each other again.
Dakota had no idea where his ex boyfriend was now, but he had become a pop star almost overnight himself. He loved certain aspects of the fame, sure, but damn he was lonely. Hardly anyone wanted to connect with him on a personal level anymore, now it was all about money. And there was no way in hell he was going to find the other Dakotas back on the island and seek their company, because they would absolutely be mad at him for cutting off Cavendish.
This particular Christmas was the same as the last few, Dakota went to some party that he would’ve enjoyed normally, had Cavendish still been in his life. Those in his circle had come to know that Christmas was the worst time of year for Dakota. He thought that maybe being invited to these parties was their attempt to ‘cheer him up’ so he could keep up his reputation as this carefree guy who let nothing slow him down. These parties had the opposite effect.
Dakota got home very late that night, so late in fact that sunrise was just an hour or two away (he didn’t know this though, because he didn’t want to look at the clock). He kept to himself for most of the party, except for when he was forced to interact with others in order to make it seem like he wanted to be there. Dakota had done a lot of thinking that night, which resulted in a very bad idea.
He sighed as he pulled out his phone, squinting from the screen’s brightness as he lay in the dark. Dakota removed Cavendish from his contact list very early on, but he never forgot the number. And considering Dakota sometimes forgot his own, this was especially indicative of how much he truly missed Cavendish. Dakota was so out of it that he failed to consider if this would even work. Cavendish might not even answer. And if he did, it might result in more hurt feelings.
Not considering any of the variables of the situation, Dakota dialed that number (he only hit the call button after verifying multiple times that he didn’t misclick) with a particularly strong kind of desperation. His face sunk when there was no answer.
But his heart broke even more when the voicemail wasn’t even from Cavendish.

5/26/23
Oh geez, spaced out and lost track of time. It's 4:30 again.
Today I had therapy. I brought up all the shit I've been mulling over, and the panic moment I dealt with in last night's journal. He was happy to hear of my improvement in my ability to deal with those panic moments. They're definitely a lot harder to deal with when you're stoned... much more immersive and convincing... so at least I have that going for me in dealing with stupid trauma shit being set off by ghosts of my past popping back into my life.
I worked on the skull a bit today. A bit of a shift. I started to ink it, using tattoo ink. I'm hoping that was a good idea, that shit stains like a bastard. I was a little worried about it... not soaking into the bone. I have no idea if it will properly dye the bone or not. But I did it and I'm going to leave it overnight and see how it comes out. I just did some thick outlines around the eye sockets and lines connecting the eye sockets to the nasal cavity. Then I started doing pencil. I did a circle spot in the center top of the skull to leave blank, with about an 1/4" outline to it. Then... I was planning to do this organic bubble style abstract work, like what I've been doing in my sketchbook. So I decided to go with the design that drew attention to a specific spot the best - the one with small bubbles in the center that grow in size as they radiate out. That should create a pattern on the top of the skull that draws focus to the center, which I'll figure out when I get to it.
I was worried about the ink because I found some on the edge of my finger. And... if I smudge it? That's permanent. There's no "undoing" ink smudges. So yeah... I'm hoping I picked the right medium for this. Again... I guess we'll see tomorrow. But I'm definitely pretty committed here, because mixing different kinds of black ink rarely gives a good look, especially over time. There are lots of ways to make black ink, usually they're super dark blue, green or purple. You'll notice this when they fade, if you've ever gotten a tattoo, you know exactly what I'm talking about. So... mixing inks can give an unintended look over time.
However... it just occurred to me that... if this ink doesn't thoroughly stain... I might have a trick up my sleeve for removal. In the tattoo shop, we used to use isopropyl alcohol to remove tattoo ink from surfaces and to deal with spills and shit, and it actually worked pretty well. And I do have some sitting around. Good to have backup plans.
Since it's already late, I'm gonna take a pee break and then do tarot.
Same as last time, blind reading, 3-card spread, Past/Present/Future.
First Position - Past - Seven of Swords (Hidden dishonor, guilt, deception, manipulation.) Second Position - Present - Nine of Wands (Defense, guarding yourself. Suspicion, self-protection. Need rest and recovery.) Third Position - Future - Ace of Cups (A new relationship and the accompanying surge of emotions. Getting in touch with your feelings. Matters of the heart. A deepening bond.)
Alright, this one is interesting. Two cards I've never gotten before. Seven of Swords is a spooky one. But I think I get it. It's actually something that, despite how much I share on here, I'm not going to share. We all have our limits, I guess. And maybe I'll get to sharing it someday... So... the Past thread is... something from my past that I regret, that I'm ashamed of. And that thread has led to my Present state... being the Wounded Soldier... tired and beaten, guarded, defensive, suspicious, needing to heal. Super accurate. And where that thread is likely to lead? A likely future? A new connection, a new relationship, social and emotional growth. Which, I have to say... has already happened in a lot of ways.
I see the linear connection between all three, but what I am struggling with is... how? How do I go from the Nine of Wands to the Ace of Cups? What catalyzes it? What is my role in that? Maybe it's as simple as... resolving the Nine of Wands? Healing? Recovering? Growing past that state?
That's an interesting thought. Like... can I heal and stop being the wounded lonely suspicious hermit... without others?
That's what's catching me here... the Ace of Cups is a social card, right? I mean... not entirely, but like... it seems mostly symbolic of the massive burst of emotions you get from a new relationship, most of the cups are about emotions and relationship stuff. And relationships require other people... (duh) So it feels like I'm waiting on another person to break me free of this. But... is it possible that the Ace of Cups is sorta... my burst of emotions when I free myself from the prison I'm in? When I heal enough to be vulnerable with the world, and submit myself to its judgement?
And... Ace of Cups does not guarantee a happy ending, rather... it's crucially a beginning card. Ten of Cups is more of the happy ending card. So... it doesn't really indicate that the big emotion surge is going to go well, in a lot of ways it indicates that it's happening in the context of inexperience. But hey, that's not all doom and gloom. What's more memorable than a first date? The first time you have your significant other for dinner at your house for your first official date, and you kiss on the futon for the first time. 2009 and I remember it like it was yesterday. Inexperience means new and exciting. I really need to allow myself to be open to that.
So... the part I'm skipping over here, that's related through the common thread... is the Seven of Swords. The regret and guilt and shame. And that's really the key. The Seven of Swords is the reason I'm stuck in Nine of Wands... and being able to move forward from that can likely bring me to Ace of Cups. That's what I'm getting from this. And that would imply that the way to evolve forward is by finding peace with the Seven of Swords stuff. Being able to live with it, without it being a Dr. House limp, attitude and pill bottle.
Alright, that all makes sense. And... the sun's up. So... I'm off to bed.

It is time to protect your energy and your mental health.
This means taking your focus and attention away from all that sways, triggers and toys with your thoughts and emotions.
This might mean taking a break from social media, removing it or simply not looking at content or people that disturb your inner self.
It could mean distancing yourself and drawing the line with that one person you keep thinking about and consciously choosing to not look into anything they do anymore so you can bring your energy back to you.
Whatever it is that will help you focus on your healing, inner and outer growth and protect your energy - make those rules and set those boundaries and follow that path without delay.
There is nothing wrong with solitude. In fact it can be bliss. There are less distractions and more room for investment into your own energy, mind and body.
Embrace whoever comes by and be present with them, but also have the grace of letting them go when they go.
You are not other people. And how they behave or react, or think towards you does NOT need to affect you. The most important relationship is you with yourself.
So pay them no mind. Create the best ever party in your mind and don't feel the need to invite anyone.
When we wake up to all the BS and start on our spiritual journey you realise this internal path is about YOU and YOU. Discovering who "I AM". This knowledge/gnosis of I AM has nothing to do with outside sources, outcomes and other people and what's happening around them. It is a journey of Self. Of knowing your higher self. Of self discovery. Now this means that the most important step right now if you are in the darkness is to LET GO of all that is happening outside and come to terms and love with what you really have in control and that is your mind, your body your individual self.
This means protecting that at all costs and to do that you must remove all that is toxic and harmful and poison. And most importantly FORGIVE it. It might take a while and it may not happen overnight but it is the most important and loving thing you can do.
We are all connected, yet we are each our own individual. Protect it. Love it. Nurture it. And you will find that all that is good and brings happiness starts from the inside.
It is time to stop looking anywhere else and remaining in an endless circle of dependence.
You do you.
PEACE and LOVE.

How to Build a Morning and Night Skin Care Routine
Creating an effective skincare routine doesn’t have to be complicated. A well-structured morning and night routine can help you achieve healthy, glowing skin and address specific skin concerns.
Here’s a article on how to build both routines using the best skincare products suited for your skin type.
Morning Skin Care Routine
Starting your day with a refreshing and protective skincare routine can help your skin stay radiant and shielded from environmental stressors. Here are the steps to follow:
Step 1: Cleanse Your Skin
A gentle cleanser will remove excess oil and impurities that build up overnight.
Best Choices: Use a sulfate-free cleanser to avoid stripping your skin of its natural moisture.
Tips: Look for a hydrating cleanser if you have dry skin and a balancing one for oily skin.
Step 2: Apply a Toner
A toner can help balance your skin’s pH and provide an extra layer of hydration.
For Oily or Acne-Prone Skin: Look for an alcohol-free toner with ingredients like salicylic acid.
For Dry Skin: Hydrating toners with ingredients like rose water or hyaluronic acid work best.
Step 3: Use a Serum
Serums deliver concentrated ingredients to target specific concerns like dryness, fine lines, or dullness.
Popular Options: Vitamin C serum is a great choice for the morning as it brightens skin and provides antioxidant protection.
Tip: Apply a few drops and pat it into the skin for better absorption.
Step 4: Moisturize
A good moisturizer locks in hydration and creates a smooth base for makeup.
For Dry Skin: Choose body lotion for dry skin or best body cream for dry skin to keep your skin hydrated throughout the day.
For Oily Skin: Lightweight, oil-free lotions work best.
Step 5: Sunscreen
Sunscreen is the most crucial step in your morning routine. It protects your skin from harmful UV rays, which can lead to premature aging and other skin issues.
SPF Recommendation: Use SPF 30 or higher.
Tip: Apply generously on your face, neck, and other exposed areas.
Recommended Morning Products:
Best body lotion for glowing skin if you want a radiant finish.
Best body lotion for all skin types if you’re looking for versatility.
Night Skin Care Routine
Your night routine is all about repair and hydration. It allows your skin to recover and rejuvenate while you sleep.
Step 1: Cleanse to Remove Dirt and Makeup
Double-cleansing is effective at night to remove makeup, sunscreen, and impurities from the day.
Best Practices: Start with an oil-based cleanser to remove makeup, then follow up with a gentle water-based cleanser.
Tip: Avoid harsh scrubbing, as it can irritate your skin.
Step 2: Exfoliate (2-3 Times a Week)
Exfoliating removes dead skin cells and helps other products penetrate better.
Best Products: For dry or sensitive skin, choose a mild exfoliant with lactic acid. For oily or acne-prone skin, salicylic acid works well.
Frequency: Limit exfoliation to 2-3 times a week to avoid over-drying your skin.
Step 3: Apply a Night Serum or Treatment
Nighttime is ideal for treatments that target specific skin issues, as they have time to absorb fully.
Best Choices: Retinol is effective for reducing fine lines and improving skin texture. Alternatively, choose serums with hyaluronic acid for intense hydration.
Step 4: Moisturize for Overnight Hydration
Night creams are typically richer than daytime moisturizers, helping to lock in moisture and aid in skin repair.
For Dry Skin: Use best body lotion for dry skin or best body cream for dry skin for extra hydration.
For Skin Whitening: If evening out your skin tone is a goal, try best body lotion for skin whitening in India.
For Fair Skin: The best body lotion for fair skin can add brightness to your complexion.
Step 5: Use Eye Cream
The skin around your eyes is delicate, so using an eye cream can help with issues like puffiness, dark circles, and fine lines.
Tip: Use a small amount and apply it gently with your ring finger.
Recommended Night Products:
Best body lotion for all skin types to keep your skin balanced and nourished.
Good body lotion for women if you want a gentle but effective moisturizer.
Seasonal Adjustments for Skin Care Routines
Just like your wardrobe, your skincare routine may need adjustments with changing seasons.
For Summer: Use body lotion for summer in your morning routine to keep skin light and fresh. Opt for a lightweight moisturizer.
For Winter: Body lotion for winter or body lotion for winters works better in colder months to combat dryness.
Extra Tips for an Effective Routine
Consistency is Key: Stick to your routine daily for the best results.
Stay Hydrated: Drinking enough water keeps your skin healthy from within.
Use Products That Suit Your Skin Type: Choose products formulated for your skin type and concerns.
Adjust Your Routine as Needed: Listen to your skin. If it feels dry, add hydration; if it’s oily, lighten up the products.
Be Gentle: Avoid harsh scrubbing and over-exfoliation, as they can damage your skin barrier.
Recommended Products
For those looking for product suggestions, here’s a list based on specific needs:
For Dry Skin: Look for best body lotion for dry skin or best body cream for dry skin for intense hydration.
For Glowing Skin: Body lotion for glowing skin adds a radiant finish.
For Skin Whitening: Best body lotion for skin whitening in India or best body lotion for fair skin can help even out your complexion.
For All Skin Types: Best body lotion for all skin types is suitable for both morning and night.
By building a consistent morning and night skincare routine with these essential steps and adapting it to the season and your specific needs, you’ll enjoy healthier, more radiant skin all year long.

masterpost of excerpts
snippet of Evarin shaving after a few days of funeral and party time got her out of her usual routines:
Evarin slipped out of bed while Morianon was still asleep. She crept to the bathroom and frowned at her reflection, turning her head to get a better view of her stubble. It had really grown scruffy, uneven and bristly. The dark protrusions of hair brought out the slight bulge of her jaw where her tusks were rooted.
“Glaciers, I look terrible,” she grumbled, running her fingers over her chin. “Wish I took after someone else, dad’s beard grows too fast.” She sighed and lathered her face, rubbing a lotion over every prickling little strand all the way from her chin to her ears. She hesitated as she brought the lotion closer to her sideburns, wetted a cloth and brought the shaving line back down just a smidge. Morianon would be upset if he lost too much of his favorite feather brushes.
Evarin leaned forward with her razor in hand, staring hard at her reflection. Steadily she scraped the blade down the sides of her face, flicking stubble into the sink with every pass.
Despite her focus, her mind drifted to the other gnomes who lived in town all year. Her neighbors and friends, her only constant connection to a broader gnomish culture outside of her own home.
[woman name], mother of three, with her soft chin and small teeth. Flick.
[man name], another gnome with tusks, but he grew his out. As he should, of course; they were a blessing for a man like him. Flick.
[woman again], that old priestess who had pushed Evarin through her voice training until she went hoarse just from reaching the high notes.
“Ow,” she hissed, jerking her hand away and scowling at the beading blood on her jaw. “That’s what I get for shaving tired,” she muttered, dabbing it gently with her wet cloth. “Almost done.” She leaned towards the mirror again and pushed her thoughts away, biting her tongue to keep herself focused as she finished shaving.
Morianon entered the bathroom just as she was cleaning off the residual lotion and searching for stray hairs she might have missed. He rubbed his eyes and coughed, throat dry from sleep.
“Hurt yourself?” he remarked, nodding at the blood that stubbornly continued to leak out of her cut.
“I’d be fine if I had just remembered to shave sooner,” Evarin tutted. “I don’t know how you can stand to look at me when I’ve let it get bad like that. And don’t you explain yourself, I know you’ll just say it’s because you love me.”
“I do love you,” Morianon murmured, but he moved to her side just to reach his cup of salt water and drop his nose plug into it, coughing through his nasal passage with a pained squint. He took a wet cloth to the hole in his face, removing the mucus that built up overnight. “I don’t know how you can stand to look at me,” he retorted, “with my nose such a disgusting mess.” He gave her a sly smirk and she couldn’t help but chuckle.
“Point taken. I love you too.”
[I really need to think of some gnomish side characters so I can show more about their gender culture and how Evarin fits into it. After all, her own mother is half orc and a lot of orcish traits are perceived in a more masculine way in gnomish culture. So Evarin can’t let herself look too much like either of her parents, because looking like her dad automatically makes her look like a man and looking like her mother also circles back to making her look like a man because of the orcish traits. It is a difficult situation for her! But mori is always there to tell her she’s loved.]

Can you show me your night skin care?
Taking care of your skin at night is essential to keeping your complexion healthy and radiant. A nocturnal skincare regimen can be quite beneficial, regardless of the issues you’re facing with dryness, acne, or aging. Here’s how to design a customized nighttime skincare routine based on your skin type and concerns:
1. Cleaning: To begin, take off your makeup and wash your face with a mild cleanser. By removing collected debris, oil, and toxins from the day, this phase gets your skin ready for the subsequent treatments.
2. Toning: To tighten pores and balance the pH levels of your skin, use a toner. Seek for substances with calming properties and additional hydration, such as rose water or witch hazel.
3. Treatment: Use serums or treatments designed to address the issues with your skin. Some examples of these include retinol for anti-aging, vitamin C for brightening, and hyaluronic acid for hydration. Your skin will be repaired and renewed over night by these powerful solutions.
4. Moisturizing: Use a rich night cream or moisturizer to hydrate your skin. Select products that help maintain your skin’s natural barrier and seal in moisture by using substances like ceramides or peptides.
5. Eye Care: Remember to take care of the thin skin surrounding your eyes. To give your eyes a more rested appearance, use an eye cream to minimize puffiness and dark circles.
6. Overnight Masks: For intense hydration or healing, think about using overnight masks or treatments once or twice a week.
Every morning, you may greet smoother, more youthful-looking skin by implementing a customized nighttime skincare routine. To get the best results, always remember that consistency and using products that are appropriate for your skin type are crucial.

Do You Pay Attention to Eye Cleansing?
The eyes are the windows to the soul, and many people pay special attention to eye makeup. Eyeshadow, waterproof eyeliner, false eyelashes, and mascara are often a daily routine, especially for work. Beautiful eyes can significantly enhance one's overall image. However, while many focus on eye makeup, do you also pay attention to eye cleansing?
Despite being young, some people suffer from severe dark circles, diagnosed as both pigmentary and vascular dark circles. Even with good sleep, the dark circles don't seem to improve, which is quite frustrating!
Let's discuss how to clean and care for the delicate skin around the eyes. First, ensure you get enough sleep! Fatigue often shows up in the eyes first. Late nights and insomnia can harm the skin around your eyes, while sufficient sleep can improve many eye-related issues. Next, focus on cleaning the skin around your eyes. Many young people have issues with dark circles, especially those with larger eyes where dark circles are more noticeable. A significant cause of pigmentary dark circles could be the long-term residue of eye makeup that hasn't been properly removed.
For many women who love beauty but have dark circles, they tend to use thick concealer under the eyes to cover the dark circles. However, if you neglect proper cleansing after getting home at night, this can lead to pigment accumulation and worsen the condition of your skin, making dark circles even more severe. So, how should we clean the skin around our eyes?
For those who regularly wear full makeup, start by using a bi-phase makeup remover to remove eye makeup. Follow this with a cleansing oil or balm, and finally, use a gentle facial cleanser to clean the skin around your eyes. Cleaning the skin around the eyes is just as important as cleaning the face, but the skin around the eyes is much more delicate. Therefore, it's crucial to use very gentle cleansing products for eye care.
Besides proper cleansing, those with severe dark circles can also try using eye masks. I recommend VIIcode's oxygen eye pads, which can be worn overnight. You'll find that your eye area looks much better in the morning!
