What gets me about this finance class or any math class really is that this is all made up. How did you come up with these equations. You just made that shit up. Why are square rooting it. Because some guy says so? Why? How does he know? Like how do you know? Did god tell you this is how you find expected return if the economy is bad. HOW DO YOU KNOW
#this is why I don’t understand math#like maybe someone knows the beauty and depth of mathematics but not me#why is it like this#how do you know you gotta do this equation to get XYZ#like who says#WHO SAYS#maybe if I understood why we put those numbers there and why it’s like that I’d have an easier time

In the face of recent events... my big commitment is this:
We cannot change what has happened, nor can we change the nebulous 'whole'. But we can shape ourselves and curate a loving, caring, active piece of this world.
So what am i planning to do? (Something we should all think about what our own plan of action is or else it's all just words and empty promises.)
Ask the neighbors I know and friends who live close if they need things when I go to the store. (One is already asking me in return, which is cool, they have a membership somewhere I don't.) If they are sick, see if I can drop anything on their doorstep to help. Vice versa.
Talk to my group and let them know how I feel (this group includes internet friends). My fears, my terrors, my hopes, my dreams. Listen in return. Find any formative actions we can take on, if any, from the discussions. Doesn't have to be big. Can be as small as be there when they need to talk. Can be as big as start making a real action plan for xyz. Anywhere in between.
Make another zombie plan.
I've made 'zombie' plans since my youth. They are for fires, floods, breakins, tornados, etc. Exit strategies, things to grab, how to quickly grab them, things I need to obtain to make it possible, etc. One such zombie plan ended up with me getting a nice strongbox for my important papers. Another ended in a practice wood sword in the bedroom. Another (this one in childhood) had me doing nighttime drills to see how fast I could gather my necessities, pets, and parents to get out of the 'zombie attacked' house (fire... was for fire). I added zombie plans over time, as needed, changed them for new work locations, new home locations, changing people and pets, etc.
So now I need one that equates to worst case scenario here. Make the plan. See what I need for the plan, at 'bare minimum', at 'eh okay', and at 'golden' statuses. Aim to make bare minimum happen. Call it a zombie plan because it's far less panicking than calling it what it is, which lessens anxiety and increases ability to play out the scenarios without that tightening band of hell around my chest.
Here we are... this is my list of actions. Now, all you've gotta do is find your own list. The real one. The one you can and will actually work on. Build your community, your protection zone, your small fraction of the world that will have your back, and you'll have theirs if the zombies attack.
