How to Check Your US Immigration Status
Are you feeling lost in the labyrinth of US immigration procedures, unsure of your current status? The ever-evolving landscape of immigration laws can be daunting to navigate. But fear not! Our comprehensive guide is here to illuminate the path forward. Whether you're a petitioner, beneficiary, or simply curious, we've curated a step-by-step roadmap to help you check your US immigration status with ease.
Understanding US Immigration Status:
Before delving into the intricacies of the process, let's clarify what immigration status entails in the US. It defines the legal standing of foreign nationals residing in or entering the country, outlining their rights and responsibilities under US immigration laws. From citizens to undocumented immigrants, each category carries distinct implications for residency, employment, and more.
Who Can Verify Their Immigration Status?
Individuals who have submitted visa applications, green card petitions, or extensions are eligible to verify their immigration status. Additionally, USCIS offers tools for tracking the status of various forms, including I-140, I-485, and I-765, among others. Armed with the requisite information, you're ready to embark on your status-checking journey.
Obtaining Your Receipt Number:
Before initiating the status check, ensure you have your 13-digit receipt number handy. This alphanumeric code, typically provided in USCIS correspondence, serves as your gateway to accessing case-specific information. Familiarize yourself with the format and locate your receipt number to streamline the process.
Fast & Easy Online Verification:
The USCIS Case Status Tracker offers a swift and convenient method for verifying your immigration status online. Simply visit the USCIS website, enter your receipt number, and voila! You'll gain access to real-time updates and pertinent details regarding your application status.
Alternative Verification Methods:
For those preferring traditional avenues, alternative methods such as mail, in-person visits, or phone inquiries remain viable options. While these may entail longer processing times, they offer personalized assistance and ensure thorough communication throughout the process.
Understanding the Limitations:
It's important to note that immigration status cannot be verified by name alone, nor can you check someone's status without proper authorization. Respect for privacy and adherence to legal protocols are paramount in navigating the complexities of immigration verification.
Conclusion:
As you embark on your journey to check immigration status, remember that clarity is within reach. Whether online or through traditional channels, our guide equips you with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the process effectively. And should you encounter complexities along the way, don't hesitate to seek guidance from experienced immigration professionals.

Lucky Charms (Steven Grant x reader)

A/N: Storytime! I was volunteering the other day and had a little special patient who jumped up at my counter. Picture of little Tefe at the end of this + some beautifully curated puns by the lovely Dellie Williams (@pakhiya). Thank you to @in-between-the-cafes for suggesting this and for all the lil ideas, my heart is literally so full as I write this.
Word Count: 2 k
☾ .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
Steven pursed his lips and stuffed the last of the cataloged items back onto the shelf. Oh, how he hated stock checking. He had to, Donna would be furious in the morning if he didn’t. He stepped back to admire his wall of souvenirs and sighed, finally done for the night.
He looked around him and the whole museum was dark, except for the spotlight that was illuminating him and his gift shop. He turned to stuff his belongings into his bag when suddenly a sound made him stop.
“I must just be tired innit?” he mumbled to no one in particular when the sound caught his ear again.
“Steven, I hear it too,” Marc’s voice echoed from inside of his head and Steven audiably gulped.
The last time Marc and he had heard a sound in the museum so late at night, it ended with Steven almost getting thrown into jail and sacked, not to mention almost ripped apart by an Egyptian Jackal.
“Hermano, we’re gonna break the table.” Jake’s soft voice hurled Steven back to reality as his hand unwillingly let go of the edge of the table he was gripping. The sound made Steven swivel his head as his eyes grew big with fear.
“Must just be an echo, look, I think it’s coming from our right.” Marc urged, trying his best to keep Steven calm.
As Steven walked towards the centre of the museum, a gust of wind carded through his curls from the open entrance. Only then he noticed that it had started pouring outside. He watched the rain wash over the entrance of the museum for a while until the soft sound came again, this time a little louder.
“Steven, look down.” Jake suddenly says, making Steven stop in his tracks.
There were tiny puddles of water that ended behind a statue in front of Steven. He mumbled a little prayer and tiptoed to the front of the statue, his eyes landing on a tiny bundle at its feet. Steven scrambled slightly, pulling his phone out of his pocket and turning on the flash as his eyes failed to register what the bundle was in the darkness. He shone his flashlight to the bundle, only to see wet orange and black fur was curled up.
“Guys! I think it's a kitten!” Steven whispered, earning a small meow from the kitten.
“Poor thing, it's all wet, must have crawled in because of the rain.” Steven’s eyes drew together as Jake spoke up, his voice a touch softer than it had even been when he was with the boys.
“Since when did you become soft?” Marc huffed and Steven chuckled softly, kneeling down.
Steven pulled his handkerchief from his pocket, slowly wrapping it around the cat and picking it up. Big sad green eyes stared up at him and Steven swore that his heart physically broke a little. She had ears that were too big for her head and was shivering from the cold. Steven began to shush the kitten, rubbing her head with soft circles as he cradled her close.
“We should give you a name.” Steven whispered as the kitten meowed at him.
“No, Steven, no naming the cat, we don’t need another living thing to take care of, we have fish.” Marc rushed through his words, but Steven smartly pushed him to the front and Marc ended up face to face with the tiny wet kitten.
“Awe man, fuck you Steven, lets call her Angel.” he said softly, stroking her tiny paw.
“Don’t swear in front of the baby, dumbass.” Jake pushed forward and kissed her forehead. “I think we should call her Luna.”
“You guys wait, I know what we can name her.” Steven pushed forward once again, staring up at the statue before him.
The goddess Tefnut stared down at Steven and he raised the kitten up so that her face was beside Tefnut’s.
“Our little lioness, Tefnut, Tefe for short.” Steven sighed and the boys agreed enthusiastically in the back of his head.
The kitten meowed again at Steven and he brought her to his chest, giving her his body warmth.
“Alright, let's go home, shall we? A nice warm hot water bottle and a bowl of food should get you all happy.” he whispered softly to his new friend, walking towards his work station.
☾ .・。.・゜✭・.・✫・゜・。.
You let the spoon rest on your mouth and paused as you heard a large crash outside. Immediately, you grabbed your bowl of cereal and walked to the front door, swinging it open.
There stood your cute neighbour, Steven Grant. His hair and shirt were drenched from the rain and he was holding something in the crook of his arm and had an expression of pain on his face as he stared at the flowerpot he broke and the soil on his foot.
“Fuc-shit sorry, did I wake you?” He whispered worriedly, his weight all on one foot as he leaned against his door.
You shook your head and he took note of the spoon in your mouth and cereal bowl in your hands, smiling through the pain that was edging in his foot. A small meow made your mouth drop open, the spoon falling out as your eyes dropped to the bundle in Steven’s arms. You stepped closer, crossing the threshold hesitantly, eyeing what looked like Steven’s jacket at the crook of his arm. Protectively, Steven stepped back until his whole back was flushed against the door.
Another meow sounded and you stared wide eyed up at Steven, caging him in, eyes scanning the bundle. A small paw popped out and you swooned, smiling at Steven before tickling the paw with your pinky. Steven couldn't move, not because a human in a huge snuggie holding a bowl of cereal was blocking his way, but because that human looked like an angel who was tickling his kitten’s paw.
“The simp is stuck again.” Jake murmured in the headspace and Marc stifled a giggle.
Steven internally rolled his eyes and stared down at you as you unwrapped the little bundle without a word. Your fingers grazed his bare forearm and goosebumps made Steven shiver.
“Awe, who are you sweet baby?” you cooed, clearly at the kitten but Steven looked up to the rickety ceiling hoping that the real Tefnut could hear how grateful he was from the universe beyond.
He looked down just in time for you to search for his eyes again. You batted those dangerous eyelashes at him questioningly and Steven gulped again.
“I, uhh, she crawled into the museum and was wet and cold, couldn’t leave her there.” he mumbled and watched as you ran a finger along her nose.
“You wanna come over to my place? I have a new hot water bottle.” you softly said and Steven was already peeling himself off his door to stand upright.
You opened your door and ushered Steven inside. He kicked his wet shoes off and stood at the front, a little unsure, his arms still cradling the kitten protectively
You set the bowl of cereal aside and ran to the kitchen, turning the kettle on. You grabbed the laundry basket and lined it with two towels that were fresh out of the dryer. You went outside and set the basket on the table. Steven didn’t know what got into him but he nudged you and gestured for you to hold the kitten and place her into her basket. Steven stepped ultra close to you as his arms opened up and the kitten gently transferred into your arms. You stood there, staring at him while he looked on lovingly at the kitten, your heart swelling to the tune of his soft breaths as you bit your lip softly.
“Pretty.” you say before you can stop yourself.
“Isn’t she?” Steven said without missing a beat.
“Ay dios mio.” sounded Jake’s voice at the back of his head and loud laughter echoing in his head, making Steven’s eyes snap to yours.
Maybe it were the two men causing an absolute catastrophe in his head or maybe it was the way you were already looking at him that made Steven realise that you were not talking about the kitten in your arms. A red tinge creeped up Steven’s face and you turned around with the cat, smiling to yourself. You kissed the kitten’s forehead as you cooed gently, setting her into her new cot of towels.
The kettle clicked off and you rushed past Steven to the kitchen. Steven’s eyes followed your quick feet and he found himself following you, leaning against the doorway and watching as you twirled around the kitchen. You pulled tea bags and mugs out of the cupboard and methodically started to make tea, saving some of the hot water to pour in the hot water bottle.
You didn’t notice Steven standing at the doorway until you turned to grab a smaller towel to wrap around the hot water bottle. You stared at the dazed expression he wore on his face and your eyes dropped to his lips were set, like flowers that were ready to be picked for offerings. You found yourself stepping closer to him as you took in his beautiful face. His hair was still dripping and his lashes curled magnificently, shielding his beautiful chocolate eyes. Suddenly, you felt his hands against yours and you blinked up at him.
“The kitten…” Steven whispered, breaking your spell.
You yanked your hands away and left the bottle in his hands, turning to the tea and Steven grinned at your cuteness, skipping slightly as he walked back to where his Tefe was.
A few minutes later, you came out carrying a new towel and a tray of things that you set down on the dining table. You handed the towel to Steven and set out a plate of biscuits and tea in front of him before taking the bowl of mashed sardines mixed with water and setting it in the kitten’s basket. She immediately crawled out of her warm dwelling and sniffed at the food you put out in front of her. You softly encouraged her and in a few seconds, she was going to town on the mashed fish.
“Lucky Charms?” Steven’s voice cut through the thick atmosphere.
“Hmm? Oh right, my late night snack.” you said, clicking your tongue and smiled.
Steven smiled at you and couldn’t help but think that he had found his lucky charm and it was now noisily licking fish off a plate.
“Thought of any names?” you asked Steven softly, not taking your eyes off the hungry kitten
“Tefnut, or Tefe for short. Like the goddess of moisture and rainfall.” He answered softly.
“Interesting. Any reason?” you turned to him and your heart quickened.
“Well, it's a real coincidence really, we- I found her under the statue of Tefnut and it’s well, raining.” You knew Steven was itching to say more but was holding back nervously.
“Come on, tell me more.” you pushed on and Steven’s eyes lit up.
You both spent hours like that, taking turns holding little Tefe and her new hot water bottle, talking about everything under the light of the moon that was slowly emerging out of the storm’s clouds.
You didn’t know how you ended up on the couch, your head in Steven’s lap, slowly waking up as the sun’s rays tickled your eyes. You sat up to see the kitten curled up against Steven’s neck, Steven’s eyes pleasantly closed as he snored softly. You gently kissed the kitten and turned to look at Steven before kissing him on the cheek too.
You sit up a little more to look past Steven, grinning at your boss who was sitting at your dining table. Her cat eyes sent a wink your way and you blushed at the little trick she had played after you spent hours ranting about Steven to her. You look back down at Khonshu’s avatar and kissed him once more on his forehead before getting up and starting your day, letting him sleep in a little more.
Steven swore that he could feel something soft touch his forehead and his eyes fluttered open moments after you left the room, leaving your signature dewy and monsoon scent in your wake as the little kitten snuggled closer into his neck.
Bonus: @pakhiya’s puns and Tefe baby 🥺

hello, my friends/followers! we are nearly done with the year - why not celebrate one of the most magical times of the year, so here i am hosting another ask game. i truly appreciate each and everyone of you - i hope all are having a lovely holiday season! i also appreciate everyone who has purchased a reading from me this year and thus paying for my green glyphs collection (so let's use them some more this game) AND all my presents for others this season!
please follow the rules (listed below) to participate →
i. you must be following me.
ii. reblog or like this post.
iii. only one ask per account! secondary asks regarding the game will be deleted.
iv. send the emoji that corresponds with the deck you want and your initials.
v. ask your question - look at reading types for limitations. THE LIMITS THAT APPLY ACROSS ALL READING TYPES: no legal, no pregnancy, and no illness.
vi. let me know what you look forward to seeing or hope to see on my blog next year, what you yourself are excited for next year, what you are hoping to receive as a gift this holiday season, OR what you are excited to give someone else this holiday season!
vii. asks that are missing the above requirements will receive a response of "game request denied".
viii. please be patient! i'm working full time, so i don't have a lot of time to sit down and do back to back readings (you can dm me and ask if yours ask sent or where you are in my queue - but please don't spam me as it won't make the process go faster, it will actually slow me down because i am answering you instead of answering asks). i will leave the game open until the end of yule (january 1, 2024) or until i reach 50 asks!
ix. feedback is greatly appreciated, but not required - it's always good to know if my intuition and interpretation of the cards was accurate (especially since i these are still relatively new decks and i am not sure if they vibe with me yet).

50/50 Heroes - The Mysterious Symbol
There's one more mystery scattered throughout the episodes I have yet to discuss: the mysterious eye-question mark symbol.
Episode 12B - The Invisibles
This is the first episode that we officially see this symbol appear on a book that J.C. is reading.
From this book, he has discovered a map leading to a secret room in the library, marked by the symbol, as well as having it on the door's handle. He calls the room a "lost time chamber", however, his description of it being a "fun room to escape the teachers" is only based on a legend.
Upon opening the door, the room appears to be empty and long abandoned.
That is, until Lenny discovered a secret switch, revealing the actual hidden room. It's interesting to point out, that we never get to see what's inside, not even a peek, leaving us with only Mo and Sam's reactions, as they remain the only people (including Lenny) to have seen the inside of this room.
As of right now, I have no idea what this room could be, or what secrets may lie in there. Their reactions don't indicate it being anything dark or mysterious, but either way, I am certain this room will come back to play a major role in season 2.
However, this is not the only episode we get to see that green book...
Episode 25A - Sam Plays With Time
In this episode, when Sam and Mo time travel 10 years back and search their grandmother's house for some information on how to get back to their timeline, Sam is seen checking this book before being interrupted by Mo and closing it.
This prompts a question (assuming there is only one copy of this mysterious book/journal): how did it end up in J.C's hands in the present time, if it used to be in Wanda's possession? The only thing J.C. says is that he "found" it, which doesn't explain anything.
And in true Gravity Falls fashion, let's not forget the question of all time: who's the author of the journal?
However, the journal and the room are not the only times we see this symbol. Interestingly enough, several adults in the show seem to have/know about this symbol as well.
Episode 13B - A Sizable Problem
For example, the symbol appears on Peter Witherspoon's (Amber's father) ID card, which we can see when Sam is calling Mo from his pocket.
Episode 16A - A Dazzling Future
We can also see it on the janitor's ID card in this episode when he announces that he is quitting the job.
Episode 22B - Good Old Mo
It was also seen drawn by Mr. Brick. Even tho his conscience has been turned into a baby by Mo's half-power, he still seems to know about the symbol and purposefully draw it on the door.
How and why do the adults know about it? Perhaps it's not a symbol representing one single person, but instead it's a group of people, which some adult characters we know belong to?
That's not all, though, as we still have a few more random appearances of the symbol to go through.
Episode 15A - Dramedy My Friend
Kevin, the town's first police dog, has this symbol on his collar in both the big picture and his statue.
Episode 25B - Who Took the Fly Swatter
Moreover, J.C. and Amber's detective board has two pieces of paper with the symbol, one is seemingly some kind of document or note.
And in that same episode, when J.C. is talking about his ancestors, the very first one is shown with the symbol on the beetles.
Episode 26 - Swatteroo the Sublime
And this collection wouldn't be complete without the mysterious person's hand. The symbol on it could be a drawing, a tattoo, a mark left after some magic, or even possibly a scar, like the one Gruncle Stan from Gravity Falls had burned onto his back.
How does all of this connect, what does it imply, and what does that symbol mean? It is seen in many almost random places and it's hard for me to pinpoint any correlation between these moments to come up with one fully explained theory. Hopefully, this mystery will also be explored and explained when or if season 2 comes.

I got tagged by the lovely @crownedinmarigolds! Thank you so much mate!! I'm absolutely charmed 🥰
Now my rat bastard spouse stole most of my tagging options on their post so to not double-tag I will add:
@skaerdir, @klaciate, @tzimizce and @vamp-orwave!!
If anyone who sees this wants to be an honourary tagee, then go for it XD
For those who don't know - Hi I am Alex! (He/They) and I'm a writer and an English immigrant to the USA!
3 ships: oh mate all of these are OCxOC with @c-n-i-d-a-r-i-a-n
Victor and Gloria – A Nos and his unbound Ghoulfriend. Making your touchstone one of your mission Ghouls is dangerous af but live fast love hard, lads.
Jeff and Lamb – Another of Vic's unbound Ghouls and the Thin Blood Nos that joined the Warren. Disgustingly fucking cute injected into the den of the rejected and disgruntled.
Ventan/Taakur Rig and Rozanin Rig – My and Daz's SWTOR PCs respectively. A Chiss Cipher Agent that ends up having to go hide with his Mandalorian hireling with her Clan and Roz's unrequited love becomes hella requited and suddenly Ventan/Cipher Five-now-Taakur has step kids??
I love it so much.
first ship: Oh god this takes me back to being little. Probably a Sonic one??
Shadow and Rouge if I had to take a guess??
last song: Temptation by Sean Paul! A proper bop
But honestly massive shout out to the second Nostalgia Synthwave mix by Odysseus on youtube
youtube
This thing keeps me sane, and has all the songs marked! – that opening one, Realign by Cerulean, can usually just melt my brain into peace whenever I hear it
last film: Snatch – Like VTMB it's a problematic fave that oozes style and characterisation throughout. Watched it as prep for a Setite I'm going to play in a V5 game >:D
currently reading: Altered Carbon by Richard Morgan as part of genre research. Finished The Vampyre recently too! Really I should pick AC up today, I've been working hard on my editing and outlining of my own pieces and neglecting the reading part of the craft for a few weeks >.>;
currently craving: So I'm drinking far less booze to save money whilst I'm out of work trying to get some Proper Writing done. So when I hit a good worthy milestone I'm getting a bottle of whiskey and I am ready.
fav color: Green! Sometimes purple!
relationship status: Maaarriiied to @c-n-i-d-a-r-i-a-n
last google search: I had to double check the spelling of Taakur for the ship section, so it was 'mandoa' :')
and before that I'm pretty use I searched Scryfall last night to go look at MTG cards even though I have no one to play with right now :'D (at least it's saving me money >.>)
current obsessions: Was tempted to add my own work here but I'll tag that on the very end XD
There's a lot of fandoms I don't leave – World of Darkness and Warhammer 40k predominantly as settings I always have another angle I want to see explored in!
I do however have the Magic the Gathering bug, even though I haven't really played in years and years now – but card interaction as a generation for narrative has always kind of captivated me? Like there's a couple big mean Ogre cards that make Rats more dangerous, but due to the way the systems work they also empower the Ratfolk of Kamigawa, the Nezumi, as they count as 'Rat' cards still. So big Ogre spellcasters improving Rat people as part of a contained bit of narrative kind of fascinates me as a concept.
Plus each deck presupposes a Planeswalker character who's casting those spells – and I was always intrigued by that notion and so most of my OCs are representative of decks I played (or wanted to :P) and then in turn each Planeswalker needs a Plane to come from, probably from a still existing culture on that Plane too, and so it can kind of wonderfully reverberate inspiration.
Like how every VTM Kindred OC presupposes a Sire!
BONUS ALEX SECTION
So if you want to get to know me, let me tell you about what writing I'm working on/have made recently.
Out now!
The Mutilation of Finley Reid
A short story of masculine horror, about a young man by the name of Finley who suffers in the pursuit of having his place as a man affirmed by his peers.
The world of Torranham Nights is an anachronistic reflection of England set in the coastal city state of Torranham, drawing from contemporary culture and folklore as well as the legends and reality of the cultures that came before – without being fetishistic about it like a lot of stories will.
Handle It
A short retail horror, about working the cash register of a butcher's counter, and the customer who orders increasing amounts of ground beef...
Inspired by my own work in a same spot, anyone who's done service work should get a kick out of this – plus it's free and only takes 20 minutes to read! XD
On the way!
Defector – name subject to change
A short story of grief, shame, suicidal ideation, alcoholism, and community. On the moon.
A Special Recon mech pilot, “Crash”, from Earth has defected to the Moon rebels, and now lives in Magnolia City, rotting away in her tiny apartment. Then the Provisional Government sends one of its elite commanders, a former enemy of Crash's, to pull her out.
Elhart: Arrival
The first of a short story fantasy anthology about a city of refugees at the edge of time and space, hiding from the end of the multi-planar universe. A super soldier has washed up with a near-fatal headwound and no memory, and she must learn to live in a far more peaceful world than the one her instincts suggest she came from. But who was she? And can she earn the trust of people who fear her potential to kill?
Neon Sun
A novel! Cyberpunk Vampires! If we're mutuals you can come ask about this but I'm not ready to share things too publicly for this one yet, but the outlining has gone beautifully in my opinion, and the worldbuilding is singing.
Speartip
I'm making a TTRPG!! It's a Powered by the Apocalypse engine game, about serving as the primary field agents of a faction of people who need your support and protection. Because if you're going to be a hero, who are you doing it for if not your kin?
Setting agnostic as hell, excluding some implicit need for magic in the class moves – I'm prepping to playtest this in sci-fi and fantasy settings to see how well my mechanics hold up in both swords and firearms based stories. Plus I'm going to explore a variety of perspectives of what the faction can be – from ethnic groups, to gangs, to guilds, to neighbourhoods.
I'm VERY excited about all this!!

The "No" campaign against the Voice is really lucky that the "Yes" campaign seems to br run by a bunch of old wethers (old slang term for a gelding). Also the "Yes" campaign seem to have no idea how to market or connect to normal ordinary people, which intellectuals and activists are not and never will be (see also the last 20+ years of conspicuous failure to force Australian voters to accept unauthorised immigration by boat despite the Australian people making it repeatedly clear that they do not want this).
boy howdy. you have come to the wrong person if you want sympathy with this argument. but right, okay. let's talk about it
the "yes" campaign is falling behind at the moment, and I continue to be frustrated at the way the campaign is being run. the "no" campaign is, however, not being run any better. they're simply benefiting from the age-old tradition of appealing to the status quo in times of crisis and confusion. they've also been helped by the facts that:
we're currently in a cost of living crisis, so many people no longer have the energy or resources to engage in the news
the AEC pamphlet was not fact-checked, so now they've got an official essay full of lies (but this time it has the AEC logo on it)
I think there's still time for the "yes" campaign to catch-up, but it doesn't happen by wringing our hands about how far behind we've fallen. it's true that what's being said at the federal level does matter, but the "yes" campaign is ALL OF US. anyone who is planning to vote yes can be part of the campaign by doing the number one thing that has been proven to be able to change minds.... talking to friends and relatives, having no-judgement conversations about the issues, and politely/carefully fact-checking people when they start to talk bogus
right, no we turn to the humdinger of a comparison you've got there. "unauthorised immigration by boat"
that is not a good example in any sense of the word
political elites are also very against refugees
completely free "unauthorised immigration" has never been on the table for either of the major parties
the Australian people have been lied to for years about refugee policy
you may call me biassed here. I'm a card-carrying member of the Greens party. I went to my first pro-refugee march under the Rudd Labor government, and spent most of my childhood helping my parents with their refugee action activism. so like. whatever. I'm not the most neutral party if we wanna talk "opinions about refugees"
but you cannot say that the Australian people are entirely against the idea of welcoming more refugees into our country without acknowledging the type of fear mongering that has happened here for as long as I've been alive. xenophobia. racism. ableism. it never stops. the Liberal Party sending out a message about successfully intercepting a boat during an election blackout period. the Labor Party straight up refusing to talk about their refugee policy, because they knew it would turn their base against them
it's not "elites trying to convince Australians that we want refugees". it's "politicians turning refugees into a political point in order to justify their mistreatment of vulnerable people from overseas". I don't know who wants complete unauthorised access to Australia, but that's not a legitimate position that has been floated in Australia. the position has been "stop locking traumatised people in cages while you deliberately take ages to process their paperwork" AND "stop trying to deport people who have been here, causing no trouble, for years"
and do you know what? it's not even true that most Australians don't want refugees. in 2022, 29% of people wanted Australia to close our borders to refugees while 68% believe that refugees make a positive contribution to Australia. it's the politicians who are lagging behind here, not the Australian people
this has been a clusterfuck of a post, so I'll do a TLDR:
talk to your friends and family about the referendum, get involved in the campaign, it is not too late
both of the major parties hate refugees in Australia, so that is both a buckwild and inaccurate comparison

BREAKING AND ENTERING MASTER LIST
LDYSMFRST MASTER LIST
Great way to start, right?
Getting attacked, visiting the health office, and missing an entire class period—oy!
If this is how everything starts, this will be a tricky school year. Part of me wants to go home because my face is killing me. What kind of nails does she have to cut me like that? As far as I know, she doesn’t have acrylics with razor blades.
It's focus time. The desire to do well in school and graduate, maybe from here, on a good note, is more essential and will always win. Since there is time left for the third period and I have a free fourth period, it is time to go to my safe place and be invisible again.
Making my way to the library and entering the administration building, I notice Mitch is still here with whatever his name is and now another lackey.
Wait, they are all coming from the private elevator?
Who are three high school jocky-looking goons to have access to a key card VIP elevator?
I get Mitch having one since he is now glued to Selena, and her parents work on the top floor, but the other two? Oh well, it's not something to care about with the short time I will be here.
Oh shit!
Mitch is walking this way with a concerned look on his face and the lackeys in tow. He is in no way coming to check on me, right?
Glancing around… yep, it is me, not another soul in sight. Why not? Everyone is supposed to be in class right now.
*Ring*
The bell for the end of the third period goes off, stopping the boys in their tracks. He glances at the new lackey behind him, and my eyes follow.
Oh, wow.
My brain short circuits when my eyes connect with these pale, jade-green eyes filled with power and confusion.
“Hey, Lovren! What happened to your face?” Mitch calls out, moving towards me again, looking more irritated now than concerned.
The other two boys are seemingly shocked at what he said, glancing over at me like I was not 100% there just a second ago. Concern and irritation echoed on their faces.
Oh, great, that's just what I need now “a pity party” because Selena went Freddy Kruger on my face. All I can think of is how mad Mitchell will be at me for pissing off his girlfriend enough for her to do this to me.
Boys will be boys and back the bitches no matter what.
And with how close Mitch and Selena are now, I am pretty sure that video evidence still wouldn't convince him that I was in the wrong place at the wrong time or Selena was PMSing again.
Rolling my shoulders, I feel this prickling sensation roll across my skin like small waves, which only makes me want to get away faster.
“It’s nothing. I’m good.” I quickly mumble as I turn and bolt for the stairs, not waiting for the elevator to reach the lobby level.
I repeatedly chanted, “Don’t make trouble. Don’t cause a mess. Don’t lose this house, too,” making it my mantra until I graduate.
I keep going up the stairs to the third floor, ignoring the calls after me from Mitch and his lackeys.
When I reached the third floor, I leaned against the wall and listened to see if they were following me up the stairs.
No footsteps on the stairs.
Taking a chance, I peek around the corner, looking down to the lobby. The three are still there, looking puzzled and pointing to the stairs where I just escaped.
Well, there is no way this is not going to get back to Jon and Rachel. Mitch will say something to Jon, and then Selena will spin a story to her parents.
When I get home, who knows what Jonathan will say, but Rachel will have a million questions for me, like 1—why did you run from Mitch or 2—why did you make Selena mad, but never are you okay?
I may have to live in the library from open to closed daily and take the long way back to avoid everyone.
*Ring*
Ah, the fourth period has started, meaning I have about 55 minutes to myself. Sitting in my favorite chair, I scoot it closer to the window and watch the schoolyard. Some students are running late to class, others are milling about with no apparent direction, and PE for today will be soccer.
I am not a fan of rough-and-tumble sports, but that is not to say that I am not relatively strong, flexible, and quick to recover for a heavier-set person. If I am going to participate in a sport, it will be either swimming, volleyball, or horseback riding.
Watching the intense game outside, something strange happened. The students all kneeled and looked at something under the awning.
That was odd. Is that some safety drill out here in the mountains of nowhere?
Was there a sound that signaled to do the drill that was only played outside?
It's another quirk to add to small-town living. Deciding to ignore that, I focus on my homework until the bell rings at the end of the fourth period.
With my face still sore, the thought of chewing anything makes it hurt worse. Skipping lunch, I return to third-period class to apologize for my absence, turn in my health slip, and collect the syllabus plus any class or homework.
So far, the rest of my school day involves a one-sided hide-and-seek game with Mitch, Selena, and their collection of lackeys.
Praise anything and everything that I do not end up having classes with any of them! There IS a higher power out there. Amen!
My ability to stay in the clique of Invisibles is intact.
Math, Science, and English are a piece of cake.
Economics and government are a nightmare.
My bird course this year is choir because I can fly right through it and pass with technicolor. Singing is the one thing that connects me to my mom the most.
I remember bits and pieces of her singing while cleaning, cooking, and showering, and, well, if she could sing while doing the activity she did, no one ever stopped her. She never sang professionally, even though she could have made it big, because she always said, ‘The Goddess does not give gifts for money and fame.’”
She was a soprano and sounded like chimes in the wind, picking up the spirits of those around her and easing their worries. I was not so lucky. I am an alto with a strong, commanding voice that is warm but soothes the soul.
Choir was my last class for the day. I was practically skipping with joy to class. Excited to end the day on a high note, pun intended, I walk into the choir room only to hear someone yell, “It’s Ren! You sing too?”
Oh no.
Searching for the voice owner, I find my “new friend,” Erik, surrounded by other students with all their eyes locked on me and my bandaged face.
Kill me now.
Shooing people away, he patted the seat beside him and waved me over. I swear he knew everyone in the room, and everyone had to say hi to him, which means they also said hi to me; so much for being Invisible in this class.
Luckily, the conductor started the class with basic orientation, competition information, important dates, and uniform discussion. Then came the warm-ups, which included lots of looks and smiles at me from Erik and the other students close by, making me glad my face was already red from the injury.
Next, the only part of the choir I hate is the placement showcase.
It happens every year: each student stands in front of the class, singing variations of scales, melodies, and sight reading. I can do everything, but I hate that it is in front of everyone. Erik has no problem with this; he has a fantastic baritone-like tenor voice. It made me smile for the first time today.
Lucky for me, I kept an eye on the clock and was blessed with two things: running out of time, so I didn't have to try to sing in pain, and having never unpacked my bag, I was able to melt into the shadows and leave right away while everyone else chatted and packed up.
I hoped Erik did not want to talk to me afterward; I was done with people.
The choir room is near the band, theater, and main gym. It is the central gathering point for the Clackers and their minions. I take a deep breath and walk along the buildings without bumping into anyone, focusing only on getting to the library rather than drawing attention to myself.
Typically, it works.
Dad used to joke about my ninja skills and ability to enter a room filled with people without anyone knowing I was there. It was rare when I would get caught. Most of the time, it was by my dad or mom, someone who always oozed presence or power.
Which is what I am feeling now: power and eyes.
Someone is watching me, and it's drilling a hole into my head. Trying not to be obvious, I glance around at the students in my general area only to be drawn to someone across the quad.
Pale Jade green eyes.

ECU High - Glenn's Books
Glenn sits down in a chair across the way from his therapist. Ever since his foster parents took him in, they had him see her regularly. It's not as if they think he's a bad kid, it's because they care about him. When they learned what he went through, they knew he needed help. This was a boy who desperately needed to know that there are people who care and want to support him.
"How are you doing today, Glenn", she asks.
"I feel like *expletive*, Ms. Sperry" he answers glumly.
She tries to frame this in a more constructive way.
"Is there any particular event that recently occurred?"
He sighs and rubs his eyes.
"Vince" he replies as if that's been his answer for a long time.
She makes a similar note of it in her file and asks, "I see. What did he say this time?"
"That I'm trailer trash. That my mother was a no good *expletive* who just wanted a green card. Hell what hasn't he said at this point?" he cites knowing this has gone on way too long.
Ms. Sperry sighs as she writes down everything Glenn says.
"Have you felt that you can tell a teacher about this? If everything you say is true, this is a clear case of bullying."
Glenn looks at her as if to say sarcastically "gee why didn't I think of something so obvious like that."
Ms. Sperry notices Glenn's expression.
"What's wrong?"
Glenn sighs and states, "It's a he said, she said situation and the teachers won't do anything about it unless there's clear evidence. All they care 'bout's if you fight. Vince knows I only need one more suspension this year before I'm expelled, so it's like he wants to purposely push my buttons."
Ms. Sperry continues to write down what Glenn says.
"I see. So you feel as if the school isn't doing enough to stop him because these are only verbal confrontations. Since I don't work within the school system, all I can do is suggest that you have at least one other student with you. Someone who can step in and tell Vince to leave you alone."
Glenn's about to cut in when she finishes her idea, "Vince likely feels that because of his new status he can say whatever he wants to vulnerable students with no consequences. If you had someone willing to put in Vince in his place and make it clear that what he's doing isn't ok, then it's possible that he'll no longer feel that power."
Glenn thinks and can only rub his face.
"Then he'll just start kicking things up a notch. Vince hates it when he's not in control of people. Me and all of the other underclassmen know that it isn't going to stop until it's too late. Vince is going to push someone too far and someone's going to get hurt."
Ms. Sperry sighs.
"I know you feel helpless in this situation Glenn. Given that I'm only responsible for your wellbeing, I'm just trying to give you advice on what you can personally do. What do your foster parents do to try to help?"
"They're always checking me for bruises and attend PTA meetings so they can talk about bullying. There's something they say will change the school's policies about it, but I don't know if it's gonna be enough" he says groaning.
She writes this down and notes "I understand at the moment it doesn't help your situation, but I hope you can feel at least a little better knowing that there are adults who actively want to help you. Doesn't the fact that your foster parents do everything in their power to make sure you're ok make you feel little less alone?"
Glenn thinks and despite his feelings of pain agrees.
"Well. I guess something is better than nothing."
She smiles sympathetically and says, "You don't need to be alone in this, Glenn. I'm sure there must be at least someone at school you can consider to be a friend."
Glenn rubs his eyes.
"I think some of the other freshmen could be. They don't outright say they hate me or look at me with disgust."
Her eyes light up.
"That's good! I think if you truly make an attempt of opening up to a potential friendship with at least one of them, you would feel less alone. You don't need to make these big gestures to try to impress them. All you need to do is find a common interest."
Glenn perks up a little when he remembers his first day of school.
"I did meet one dude named Ted who loved 'A Tale of Two Cities' and adventure novels. I actually checked out 'A Tale of Two Cities' because of it."
She writes that down and says "How do you enjoy it?"
"Charles Dickens was a genius! You really get the idea that you're in France during the storming of the Bastille."
Glenn really seems to lighten up once he talks about his books, that Ms. Sperry has an idea.
"Glenn I think you should try to establish a friendship with Ted. I believe your love of books would be enough to have a common ground with him."
Glenn settles down and nods.
"Yeah. I think you're right, Ms. Sperry. I already think I have something developing between me and Deke. We're not in the same grade like I am with Ted, but he at least knows..." he trails off for a second.
"He at least knows what it's like to not be able to have the people who made you in your life. He has a different set of parents too and I think that he just understands what it's like even if he is fully white."
Ms. Sperry keeps smiling as she writes this down.
"I'm glad that you feel that way, Glenn. I hope that you know that I'm proud of you. I wholeheartedly believe that things will get better. You're already heading in the right direction."
Glenn's eyes mist but he composes himself by shaking her hand saying, "Thank you, Ms. Sperry."
She looks at the time.
"You're welcome, Glenn. I hope to see you next time with some good news."
Glenn stands up and heads out the door.
"I'll do my best."
As he heads outside where his foster dad waits for him in the car, Glenn feels that he now has some extra tools to make life better. He hopes that one day, he'll feel like he can actually be friends with others.

Your Actions Mattered
CW: Misgendering, brief allusions to transphobia not related to misgendering, and depersonalization.
So, I collect bootlegs and stuff. I know. Riveting stuff. Skipping the sarcasm, I do like fake things. They’re fun to pick apart, see how well they can work. I’m not the biggest fan of ROM hacks surfacing on the internet, though. They weren’t made to be resold.
So when I saw an obvious mistake on the labels of FireRed and LeafGreen I was curious. The labels were switched. I bought them, they weren’t cheap, but it was funny looking. Nothing else was wrong in the pictures, just mismatched stickers. I collect bootlegs, I knew when something didn’t look legit.
When they arrived? Well, it wasn’t weird, but it was something I thought was interesting. They were packaged together with string, somebody had never heard of safe transport. They matched the switched stickers, green on FireRed and red on LeafGreen. This was a bonus or this seller was red-green colorblind. Happens to the best of us, I guess.
So, for the joke of it, I booted up the FireRed (which despite the sticker was FireRed) and chose Leaf. It was the standard fair, until I checked the TV (which is way more important than talking to your mother.)
It wasn’t the Wizard of Oz reference I was hoping for. It was Stand by Me? That wasn’t right. It wasn’t like it was The Galatic Railroad reference in the next remade game, but it stuck out to me. Leaf had this reference made for her to fit her better. (Because girls can’t like Steven King or something.)
Oh well, I thought, talking to the mother character, “All boys leave home someday.” That’s true, for the boy character. I’m playing as the girl character. They dream of traveling. That’s just plain weird, I tried to rationalize maybe the sprites flipped somehow, but when I checked my trainer card? Nope, it was Leaf’s. That’s odd. I kept with the plot though, saying hi and getting to choose my Pokémon. It wasn’t important though, the text was more. It was put as Red’s name. Always Red’s name whenever Leaf was addressed. I had made a custom name and was playing as Leaf, that shouldn’t be happening.
This was clearly a romhack then. Like I said, I don’t like romhacks sold on the internet. That’s a cheap buck off of someone else’s work, but maybe I’m a hypocrite, I buy bootlegs. At least most people know it’s actually heinous to do that. I kept playing, up until the first gym. Did you know you can check the statues before challenging the gym? It says your rival’s name, for the sake of consistency, we’ll call him Blue.
It didn’t just say Blue’s name. It said Red’s. Leaf’s name was never on it when I challenged the gym and won. I checked the card, it didn’t have the Boulder Badge. The game still acted like I did though. Romhack.
Well, alright, somebody hates Leaf. I put the game down, moved to the other cartridge. I had planned to play at the same time anyhow. I chose Red this time and the same thing happened.
The Wizard of Oz played on TV, and all girls dream of traveling. Leaf’s name was there instead of my custom name. Leaf had the spot before and after Red, and he never even got an actual badge for it.
These hacks were clearly supposed to be together. I looked for a swap hack online with every keyword I could think of. I found nothing. I’d dump the ROM but I have my suspicions now that this was somewhat deliberate. A weird artistic choice, but an artistic choice nonetheless. I messaged the seller and got nothing, so it had to be, right? Maybe if they actually message me, I’ll share it, for now they’re in cartridges and unshared files on my computer.
The same things were happening, the dialogue never hiccuped. Red was seen as Leaf, and Leaf was seen as Red. There wasn’t any differences in that until I got to Copycat. Every hacker’s favorite character. Probably.
“My name is Leaf! It’s not Red! Who’s even Red?! Hmm? Quit mimicking? But, that's my favorite hobby!”
Clearly Leaf was very frustrated. I know games aren’t real, but this hack seemed to be a sad one. I’m a sentimental sap, it was working. I decided to bring this annoying child a Pokédoll, if only to see what the silent protagonist had to say. Her dialogue doesnt change until you talk to her again after learning Mimic.
“I still don’t know who Red is. I don’t want to copy him, I’ve never heard of him. Is it really that fun to copy what I say and do?”
“You bet! It’s a scream!” Was Copycat’s response. I don’t think Leaf would’ve agreed with her.
Red’s dialogue was the same for Copycat. Maybe it’s the quiet nature. It was odd, nonetheless. In the department store that changed however, in the SNES section anyhow. Normally when you check the sports game it says Dad might like it. I checked the other ones and they read after their game genre;
“Would Leaf like this? Who even is she? You don’t know…”
They didn’t know each other. I thought maybe this hack was leading up to that cliche of Red taking her spotlight, even though he didn’t get any badges either, but that wasn’t the case. He didn’t know who she was either. Every Rocket talked about a different brat, but even friends and family didn’t recognize them as each other. Maybe that was the point, with the swapped colors. My joking of that was bait for this hack’s story.
Now, Blaine’s gym. His gimmick is the quiz machines. Hard for young children, painfully easy for someone older who’s a Pokémon master. If you answer wrong, you fight a trainer. Given the hack status, was this changed? The answer? Yes.
-Have you gotten any badges?
No. I hadn’t, technically. I didn’t have to face a trainer.
-Have you helped Kanto?
Yes. That was the wrong answer, I had to face a trainer.
-Are you Leaf/Red? (It changed depending on which game.)
The answer is a surprising yes. I had gotten it wrong. Surprising, considering all had told me that I wasn’t myself.
-Do you know Red/Leaf (It also changed.)
No. They had made that clear.
-Do you want to?
No was apparently the wrong choice.
-Do you know who you are still?
Yes or No doesn’t matter. It always gives you the trainer battle. I tried.
Nothing else seemed very sketchy to me. I went back around places I could a few times, but I didn’t see any more discrepancies. I went to the League and showed a kid his place in things. It didn’t change the ending though. My trainer for that run wasn’t there, it was the other. This proved true for the other game. Even when I checked my trainer card, it was empty.
They were champions. They had defeated Rocket. It had gone to the other person, and yet it didn’t at the same time. I’m not sure what this hack means. Is it just to be cruel to fictional children? To rip their dreams away? Or is it about something that hits too close to home? They were never acknowledged as their names either, after all.
Again, I’m a sap. I have two games and plenty of Pokémon. Even after the Sevii Islands, nothing changes, dialogue wise. It’s the same flipped script. I’m not sure if this was the ending of this art piece, if the hack is even that. It could be nothing at the same time. But all art has an interpretation. This is a sad one. I don’t like this sad story.
So, I connected them together, heading to the Pokémon Center. Just for completion’s sake I got version exclusives. I then proceeded to trade them. The trainer IDs and names weren’t my custom ones either, they were Red and Leaf respectively. I hadn’t mentioned it before, but not even their Pokémon had been their own. I found it fitting that some could come home.
I know they’re not real, it’s just a game, but after trading and battling a little? Finally getting to know each other after a whole game of confusion?
I hope they’re friends.

The High Priestess
The High Priestess sits in front of a thin veil decorated with pomegranates, though for some reason the imagery has always reminded me of peaches split open with the pit showing... The veil represents the separation between the conscious and subconscious realms, that which can be seen and that which cannot be seen. The veil’s overall purpose is served, keeping casual onlookers out. Only the initiated may enter. The pomegranates symbolize abundance, fertility and the divine feminine. They evoke the memory of Persephone, who ate a pomegranate seed in the underworld and was forced to return to the underworld for months at a time for the rest of her life. On both sides of The High Priestess stand two pillars, marking the entrance to this sacred, mystical temple. One pillar is black with the letter B (Boaz, meaning ‘in his strength’) and the other is white with the letter J (Jachin, meaning ‘he will establish’). The black and white colors of the pillars symbolize duality, between the masculine and feminine or darkness and light, proposing that knowledge and acceptance of duality are required to exist within this sacred space. The High Priestess wears a blue robe with a cross on her chest, as well as a horned diadem (a pretentious way of saying a crown), all serve as symbols of her divine knowledge and status as a divine ruler. In her lap, she holds a scroll with the letter TORA, signifying the Greater Law. It is partly covered, signifying that this knowledge she possesses is sacred knowledge. This depiction in the card demonstrates to viewers that the knowledge that The High Priestess has will only be revealed when one is ready to look beyond the material realm. In addition, the crescent moon at her feet symbolizes her connection with her feminine side, which provide her with her intuition.

Hi all. Long time no talk. Life really swept me away for a while and I had only been able to write bits in pieces of my life down in my diary.
A lot has happened. I’ve discovered a lot; and not just academically.
The apartment that I told you all about last time I wrote is now fully furnished. I’ve got a lovely patio set that I sit out and read on quite often. When I’m lucky enough, I watch the sunrise and the sunset there too. I found this really cool desk off of Facebook Marketplace which is a repurposed vintage window frame. It’s this beautiful sharp shade of blue. I have a comfy yellow desk chair to sit and work in as well. I hate the color combination of blue and yellow for obvious reasons (go green) but it compliments my yellow night stand well. I’ve also got a hammock with shades of purple, pink, green, and white. I like to eat fruit and sway in it. I also installed some colored lights which has made the place feel a lot more vibe-y. Oh, and I’ve got some cool posters from Tabitha Arnold too. Y’all should check her out and support her! She’s a fantastic artist.
Speaking of artists, here are two more collages that I made for the class I'm taking:
My plants are doing well. I’ve resurrected my mint plant back from the dead multiple times. My rosemary, sage, rose, and swiss cheese plants have held up well. I’ve also added a jade plant, a bamboo plant, some orange flowering plant, and an inch plant to the mix. I want to get more but I’m trying to practice self-control…
I chose the high priestess card though because it’s the card I feel most connected to right now. I feel much better in trusting my own intuition these days. The summer had so many twists and turns to it and boy, did I learn quite a bit. My research-oriented brain forms these hypothesizes and after time passes and data is gathered, I find that I knew things before I ever even had the proof. It’s funny how it works like that.
Actually, we’re just coming out of the winter and entering summer here, but in my mind, it’s fall. It feels like fall. In the nine months that I’ve been here, I’ve lived through my winter, my spring, my summer, and now I’m beginning my fall.
The winter period of my life here was nice, I got to live high up on the volcano and lived in a still matter until my spring came and I began to thaw. In spring, I dug up my roots and planted seeds elsewhere. My growth was slow and then before I knew it, summer came. It was intense. When it got to be too much to handle, I fled home.
The week I spent back in the states was just as transformative as these past nine months; I really saw things from a different perspective being back after being away for as long as I’d been gone. It felt good to feel the familiar though. It felt good to see people and to be around those that I could trust, not just through a screen like I’d grown accustomed to, but in person. It was such a relief to feel the familiarity of family. I was so happy to eat a Greek salad, made the right way, and to hike around Cranbrook. It had just rained, and it was so misty, quiet, and peaceful. I was so happy to drink palomas at Amici’s and then Diet Coke (none of that Coke Zero bullshit) at 24 with Sam and Clayton. It felt like old times. My train ride to Chicago was rough, but my seatmate was kind. I felt so much joy when I finally got to see everyone in Chicago. Nolan and I got lunch at Nookies and we almost melted in the outdoor seating section. Casey and I had a lovely walk and we went to see a psychic. We celebrated my tether’s 24th which was a blast. Nolan and I also got Indian food and sat out by the fire in the middle of the night before I had to leave to catch my flight. It was so good to be with them and it was so hard to leave. The psychic told me that I’d meet someone very important to my journey named Micheal, and my Uber to the airport ended up being named Micheal, so can we really say psychics are scammers?
When I got back to El Salvador after being in the states, I hit the ground running. I kept busy and did as much as I could in the name of research.
And before I knew it, Sarah came! Our time together was interrupted by a machista who’s actions were as reckless as his words… Again, the psychic I saw in Chicago ended up being right about another thing… But nonetheless we found joy in the little moments and created memories that will last a lifetime. It was hard to say goodbye to her when she left.
The next day I started substitute teaching AP Comparative Government at a bilingual school. It was quite the experience! I did that for two weeks.
Funnily enough, those two weeks were also extremely transformative. I forced myself to grow up, in a lot of ways. My last day subbing, Evelyn, some girls affiliated with the CIS, and I went to the beach. We had a lot of fun. I made us quite the pasta dish with ingredients that we managed to gather on the trek out.
Since then, I’ve just been doing touristy stuff, doing more research stuff, working on my final paper for my class, and looking for jobs. I went to a networking event held by the embassy, and it was actually a lot of fun. I got to catch up with some other Fulbrighters and laugh about life.
Going back to my metaphor, and how I’m in my Fall Era ™, some of the seeds I planted in the spring have finally begun to bear fruit. I got into the graduate studies program that I applied to at the UCA! For the next three or so years, I’ll be working towards my master’s degree in Theology… Which is… So ironic and crazy given everything… But it’s the path I’ve found myself down and I feel really excited about all that there is to come. I’m also letting go of a lot of things like the trees let go of their leaves this time of the year. It feels so good to just let some things fall away from my life and to cultivate space for new growth in the coming seasons. In the past I’d be more melancholy about it all, but it feels like this weight is being lifted off my shoulders and I’m so thankful to be in this phase of my life.
I think that’s pretty much it? Other than that I’m just getting ready to head back home for the holidays. But I have a flight back down here scheduled for January 7th so I won’t be gone from here long. I’m excited to see all of you guys back home. And I cannot wait to be cold for once instead of always being hot!

Employment-Based Green Card: For individuals who are offered a job in the U.S.
Diversity Visa Lottery: A lottery system for applicants from countries with low immigration rates to the U.S.
Refugee or Asylum Status: For individuals seeking protection from persecution.
Step-by-Step Guide to Applying for a Green Card
1. Determine Eligibility
Check which category applies to you (family, employment, lottery, etc.).
Ensure you meet the specific requirements for your selected category.

Once the petition is approved, you’ll proceed with the next step.
3. Complete Form I-485 (Application to Register Permanent Residence)
After the petition is approved, you’ll need to file Form I-485. This form is crucial as it’s the actual application for your Green Card. You will need to:
Fill out personal information.
Provide supporting documents (passport, birth certificate, etc.).
4. Pay the Required Fees
The application fees for filing Form I-485 can vary, depending on your situation. Ensure to check the latest fee structure on the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS) website.

Fingerprinting.
Taking your photograph.
Submitting your signature.
6. Attend the Interview
In many cases, you’ll be called for an interview with a USCIS officer. This is to verify the information provided in your application.
7. Receive Your Decision
After your interview and review, USCIS will mail you the decision on your application. If approved, you will receive your Green Card in the mail.
Additional Documents You May Need:
Birth certificate (translated if necessary)
Passport and visa (if applicable)
Medical examination form (completed by a USCIS-approved doctor)
Proof of financial support (for family-based applications)
Processing Times and Delays
The time it takes to process your Green Card application can vary based on the category and the volume of applications. Here’s an approximate timeline for each category:
Family-Based: 6 months to several years, depending on the relationship.
Employment-Based: 6 to 12 months.
Diversity Visa Lottery: 1 year, after selection.
Key Takeaways:
Eligibility: Identify what group you fall into (family, employment, etc.). Forms: File the relevant immigrant petitions and application forms (I-130, I-140, I-485). Documents: Personal identification, medical, and financial records. Fees and timelines: Nothing matches the fees and waiting period or the processing time, during which you just get impatient.
FAQs:
Q1: How long does the Green Card process take?
A: The processing time varies based on your application category, ranging from a few months to several years.
Q2: Can I apply for a Green Card while in the U.S. on a visa?
A: Yes, you can apply through a process called “Adjustment of Status” while you’re in the U.S.
Q3: What happens if my Green Card application is denied?
A: You can appeal the decision or reapply after addressing the reasons for denial.
Conclusion:
In most cases, applying for a Green Card is a daunting task because it is not direct. However, with due processes and proper subjection of forms and documents, the chances of winning this application increase. The best method to solicit such admission through family or through employment and other grounds is when a process is understood. Applications for the Green Card! Good luck!

the review log
hello, my friends/followers! we've made it to 2k followers on the blog, so i am hosting an ask game. thank you so much to everyone who has been here from the first post on eros until now. i truly appreciate each and everyone of you! i also appreciate everyone who has purchased a reading from me and thus paid for my green glyphs collection!!
please follow the rules (listed below) to participate ->
i. you must be following me.
ii. reblog or like this post.
iii. only one ask per account! secondary asks regarding the game will be deleted.
iv. send the emoji that corresponds with the deck you want and your initials.
v. ask your question - look at reading types for limitations. THE LIMITS THAT APPLY ACROSS ALL READINGS: no legal, no pregnancy, and no illness.
vi. ask me a question about me that you want me to answer in a get to know the creator post OR submit a post request (it will not count if you give me a hyper specific astrology placement - a reminder that i no longer do free consultations on astrology placements).
vii. asks that are missing the above requirements will receive a response of "game request denied".
viii. please be patient! i'm working full time, so i don't have a lot of time to sit down and do back to back readings (you can dm me and ask if yours ask sent or where you are in my queue - but please don't spam me as it won't make the process go faster, it will actually slow me down because i am answering you instead of answering asks). i will leave the game open for the week or until i reach 50 asks!
ix. feedback is greatly appreciated, but not required - it's always good to know if my intuition and interpretation of the cards was accurate (especially since i have new decks and i am not sure if they vibe with me yet).
game options ->
🍫 CHOCOLATE 🍫
wryd web. ask me about any of your orbs or a section you don't understand BUT not your full web (limit 3 orbs - so you can do the karmic tail, your romance chain, your money chain, a chakra (the physics, the energy, and the emotions), etc.).
🍪 COOKIE 🍪
runes. good for warning words or words of inspiration, past/present/future, advice, or general vibe checks.
🧁 CUPCAKE 🧁
lenormand. functions similarly to tarot - can be questioned like tarot EXCEPT NO "yes or no" questions. tends to give open interpretations to the line of cards - i will give you the meanings (so you can also see some solutions i may not think of because it is open - you are the expert in your situation) and what i believe is the answer.
🍩 DONUT 🍩
animal spirit. could be used to tell you what your animal spirit is, the animal in your way and what animal energy you need to encompass to overcome them, and/or animal you were / animal you are / animal you could become.
🍦 ICE CREAM 🍦
oracle. great for advice! EXCEPT NO "yes or no" questions.
🍭 LOLLIPOP 🍭
tarot. no explanation needed - everyone knows how tarot works. for yes or no questions i generally pull three cards and do majority rule with explanation (i.e., "yes because...", "no, but...", etc.").

Hello love!
Before I begin if you or anyone who sees this reading could respond to this poll, it would be much appreciated (open 3rd-10th Oct) <3.
I'd be happy to provide you with insights into the appearance of your next boyfriend using the symbolism of the Two of Pentacles.
The Two of Pentacles often represents balance, adaptability, and juggling responsibilities. In the context of your question about your next boyfriend's appearance, here's what it suggests:
Balanced Appearance: Your next boyfriend is likely to have a balanced and harmonious appearance. This may mean symmetrical features and a sense of equilibrium in his overall look.
Adaptive Style: The Two of Pentacles indicates adaptability. Your boyfriend may have a versatile sense of style, which allows him to switch between different looks effortlessly. He might enjoy experimenting with fashion and appearance.
Youthful Energy: This card can signify youthful energy. Your next boyfriend may have a youthful appearance, which could include features that make him look younger than his age or a sense of playfulness in his demeanor.
Well-Groomed: The Two of Pentacles encourages taking care of responsibilities, and your boyfriend may have a well-groomed and put-together appearance. He could pay attention to his personal grooming and hygiene.
Earth Tones: Pentacles are associated with the Earth element. Your boyfriend's appearance may feature earthy colors, such as browns, greens, or neutrals. These colors could be present in his clothing or accessories.
Versatility: Just as the figure in the Two of Pentacles juggles two pentacles with ease, your boyfriend may have a versatile and adaptable appearance that suits various occasions and settings.
Expressive Eyes: While the card doesn't specifically represent eye color, your boyfriend's eyes may be expressive and communicative. They could convey a range of emotions and depth.
Remember that appearance is just one aspect of a person, and true compatibility often goes beyond physical attributes. Your next boyfriend's appearance may align with the qualities of balance and adaptability suggested by the Two of Pentacles. Enjoy the journey of getting to know him when the time comes! 🩷🌟😊
