Ok, my amended list for book asks: 24, 29, 42
Ooh, thank you Sliebman! Here we go!
24. a book on your nightstand
A few, but one of them is curently 'Tis by Frank McCourt! I loved Angela's Ashes, so when I found the sequel in a second hand bookshop I knew I had to buy it. I haven't had the chance to read it yet, but I have high hopes! (Which is also why it's one of the books in the "read soon" pile xD)
29. your favourite YA novel
Probably Artemis Fowl, by Eoin Coifer. I have only read the first book, but it's an absolute riot. The machiavellic young protagonist who does have a heart somewhere, the fairy cop out to prove her value, the twists and turns, they were so much fun! And the humor was also on top so yeah, even as an adult this is a big rec from me ๐
42. a book that made you want to scream by the time you got to the end
Scream, uummm... scream how? Let's see ๐
Scream in rage: Jean Auel's Land of the Painted Caves. Oh my god. Oh. My. God. I am still not over how much Jondalar suddenly sucked in this! Like seriously? Seriously? You have a main character who can do everything: she invented the wheel, domesticated the first dog and the first cat, inventeed shampoo and I'm supposed to believe she'd settle for that jealous, possessive, stone-for-brains jock???? Also, wth, why is magic a thing now less than 50 pages into the last of a 6 book series??? Why is she dreaming of cars in the paleolithic era, what is this the Flinstones???? Why did you make me wait ten years and made me settle for this???? Aaaaaagh!!!
Scream in joy: Ok, I admit I squealed a little reading Naomi Novik's Blood of Tyrants. It's just... an amnesia plot, and utterly gorgeous worldbuilding as usual with the Japanese dragons and the VERY NOT SUBTLE Laurence/Tharkay shipping and MORE assassins and the ANGST everywhere, that book hit so many of the tropes that I either like or are guilty pleasures of mine you can't even imagine ๐ Wasn't so happy with the cliffhanger but... League of Dragons was worth the minor annoyance ๐
