Hi, I've seen your learning disability posts and had a question I didn't know who to ask. As a kid I've had a lot of symptoms of dyspraxia, dysgraphia and dyscalculia. Nowadays only dyscalculia would be clinically significant for a diagnosis, like my handwriting has gotten nice(though inconsistent and needs specific conditions to be good) and I've learned how to catch balls and wash myself in my late teens. But I still find myself wondering why I have issues with things like keys, shoe laces, bathing myself, because I do know how to do them now, that I've wondered if those disabilities are still causing me issues even if I learned the skills(through a lot of pain)? I've thought of using accommodations for those things despite being able to technically do them, would it be possible for them to benefit me? TIA!
Thank you to @reaux07 at @bfpnola for helping me mentally process the ask and giving her input while I don't feel good.
You know, you using accessibility aids doesn't take away from "more disabled people". And even if you can do these things, abled people don't struggle with these things. You can call yourself disabled. Even if you can technically do them and you believe people are more disabled than you, you can still identify as disabled. I'm not gonna stop you. Disabled people aren't gonna stop you.
The only people that will care are abled people, and abled people have no right to determine what is and isn't "disabled enough".
Also like. Whose gonna stop you if you pull out one of these things to unlock your house?
(Not sponsor I just saw them and thought they were cool.)
Like if anyone gives you shit for using these things to make your life easier... that's really none of their fucking business.
If I was at a friend's house and I saw them pull this shit out to button their pants, I'd just say "that's cool". Because anything beyond that is none of my fucking business.
Even if I saw an abled person using these to tie their shoes, I'd just be like "That's awesome. I hate tying shoes too." Because I do indeed hate tying my shoes.
Like NONE OF THESE takes away from disabled people. 😂 and you are disabled. You said it yourself. Just because you try really hard and can do these things doesn't mean you're not disabled. That's what disabled means.
And you buy these things so you don't have to try really hard.
Also, like I said earlier. I think they'd benefit everyone. Like if using them makes your life easier, go for it. None of anyone's business what you do to make your life easier.

What You Need to Know Before Hiring a Professional Cleaning Company
Finding the time to thoroughly clean your house in the midst of a hectic job schedule and a demanding family can be difficult. Getting the vacuum out and doing a fast sweep is always an option, but a thorough clean is impossible. Many individuals employ the services of house cleaning firms regularly to guarantee that their houses are spotless, fresh, and done at the highest possible degree of professionalism. Choosing House Washing Kansas City MO service is the best here.
Cleaning Companies in Your Area
It should be the first thing you look for if they are a local service provider. A list of local cleaning service companies may be the best place to begin. You won't have to pay more for a company to come from abroad, and they'll know exactly where you are. It's often a good idea to ask for opinions from friends and neighbours, too. A company's reputation is another factor to keep in mind, which is another reason why it is best to stay in your area.
Household or Office Repairs
Most cleaning firms in your area will provide more than just home office cleaning services; they often offer various additional services, such as window washing, carpet cleaning, and more. For small businesses that can't afford to hire full-time office personnel, a local cleaning company will work with you to set up a schedule that works for you, including evening, night, and weekend alternatives, to ensure that your office is always clean, neat, and ready for guests. There comes the House Washing Kansas City MO service with the right options.
Eco-Friendly, Organic, and Natural Products
Many individuals do not want to use cleaning solutions that may contain dangerous chemicals in their residences or workplaces. When you visit a company's website or speak with a representative, you may find out if they solely use organic cleaning products. As a bonus, several provide an aromatherapy regimen to accompany the cleaning so that the entire house smells clean and new. You can choose the House Washing Kansas City MO service as the right choice here.

Unusual 1905 Art Deco home in Kansas City, Missouri has been for sale for a year and has no takers. They’re asking $560,000.
Tumblr media
It has a big porch.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Look at the Art Deco fireplace. Big, unusual living room.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The dining room is also unique- a window seat and a built-in cabinet for china.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, then there’s the ship’s bridge. Cool feature. Plus there’re stairs to the basement, and the basement is very special.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Looks like the stove top is original.
Tumblr media
One of 3 bds.
Tumblr media
Another bedroom.
Tumblr media
1 of 3 modernized baths.
Tumblr media
Now, the basement. First there’s a nice green pool room w/a retro table.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There’s a shower down here, too. With robes for guests after they get out of the pool and want to wash the chlorine off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And, then there’s this super cool mid century bar complete with fireplace. Part-ay! This could be some funky & fun house.
Tumblr media
Now, remember the ship’s bridge room with the stairs? These are where those stairs lead and this is the coolest room in the house behind those double doors.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Check it out- a genuine indoor Art Deco pool. That looks like an original filter too. You could set this area up as a beachy sitting area.
Tumblr media
The actual pool is up those stairs, which they don’t show, but look, it’s freshly painted. (I hope it’s special waterproof paint, b/c it looks like flat wall paint) Anyway, I would have to put a better light than those 2 single bare bulbs- it’s creepy.
Tumblr media
There’s also a large sunroom.
Tumblr media
And a nice yard. It’s big b/c you don’t need to take up the room to put in a pool.

Urgent | Fundraiser for Lorenzo Kom’boa Ervin and JoNina Abron-Ervin
My name is JoNina Abron-Ervin. My husband, Lorenzo, and I are an African-American couple in our early 70’s. We live in Kansas City, Mo., where a stay-at-home order has been in effect since March 24, 2020, due to the coronavirus pandemic. It will remain in effect until at least May 15, maybe longer.
Before the pandemic, we washed our clothes weekly at a local laundromat. Yes, laundromats in Kansas City are considered essential businesses and remain open. However, we can’t go to the laundromat anymore, and we need your help. But first, let me explain why we can’t go to the laundromat or anywhere else outside our house. Due to the coronavirus just stepping outside makes matters worse, and could be a death sentence.
Lorenzo has diabetes and other serious illnesses. Doctors throughout America say that it’s particularly dangerous for people who have compromised immune systems, which is the case with diabetes, to contract coronavirus. As elderly black people, we are already at great risk of catching COVID-19 and dying from it if we do. Now, we are in the biggest fight of our lives–the fight to stay alive.
So, a few weeks ago we had to call out for people to help us, and many of you responded with donations of money and volunteered to wash our clothes each week. We are very grateful for the excellent mutual aid network in Kansas City that has connected us with people who have volunteered to do our laundry, free of charge. There are no words to express how much this has meant to us. However, it is uncertain how long the pandemic will last. It may be weeks or even months before we can safely leave our house to wash our clothes. We don’t want to wear out the people helping us now.
We have decided that we need a stackable washer and dryer that will fit into our kitchen ($1500). We estimate that we may need to spend up to $500 more for delivery, installation, and electrical adjustments that may be required for set-up.
Having clean clothes is a necessity for all human beings. With a washer and dryer at our house, Lorenzo and I won’t have the pressure of worrying about how to get our laundry done. And we can focus on staying alive and continuing our life-long work as community organizers or trainers. Please help us buy a washer and a dryer.
You may contribute by sending a donation via Paypal to [email protected]. Thank you.

SAVAGE HANDS will be touring the US in February/March 2020 with WHILE SHE SLEEPS, and have a few US dates scheduled with label mates CURRENTS this December. They released their debut EP 'Barely Alive' in 2018, which was also recorded and produced with Andrew Baylis (MY ENEMIES & I, SYLAR), which served as a springboard for SAVAGE HANDS to spend much of 2018 and 2019 on the road alongside of some heavy music’s biggest names such as: WAGE WAR, KUBLAI KHAN and PALISADES etc. SAVAGE HANDS USA Tour Dates: Supporting CURRENTS  DEC 11 - ASBURY PARK, NJ - HOUSE OF INDEPENDENTS  DEC 12 - BUFFALO, NY - MOHAWK’S PLACE DEC 13 - AMITYVILLE, NY - AMITYVILLE MUSIC HALL  DEC 14 - HARTFORD, CT - WEBSTER UNDERGROUND Supporting WHILE SHE SLEEPS FEB 13 - ORLANDO, FL - THE ABBEY FEB 14 - ATLANTA,GA - MASQUERADE HELL FEB 15 - DURHAM,NC - MOTORCO MUSIC HALL FEB 17 - BALTIMORE,MD - OTTOBAR FEB 18 - PHILADELPHIA,PA - UNION TRANSFER FEB 19 - NEW YORK,NY - GRAMERCY THEATRE  FEB 21 - POUGHKEEPSIE,NY - THE LOFT  FEB 22 - SOMERVILLE,MA - ONCE BALLROOM FEB 24 - BUFFALO,NY - REC ROOM  FEB 26 - OTTOWA,ON - BRASS MONKEY FEB 27 - MONTREAL,QC - FAIRMOUNT THEATRE FEB 29 - TORONTO,ON - HARD LUCK MAR 01 - DETROIT,MI - THE SHELTER MAR 02 - CHICAGO,IL - BOTTOM LOUNGE MAR 03 - ST PAUL,MN - AMSTERDAM BAR & HALL MAR 05 - HOUSTON,TX - WAREHOUSE LIVE STUDIO MAR 06 - AUSTIN,TX - COME AND TAKE IT LIVE  MAR 07 - FORT WORTH,TX - TOMCATS WEST  MAR 09 - KANSAS CITY,MO - AFTERSHOCK MAR 10 - DENVER,CO - MARQUIS THEATER MAR 11 - SALT LAKE CITY,UT - IN THE VENUE  MAR 13 - SACRAMENTO,CA - HOLY DIVER MAR 14 - LOS ANGELES,CA - THE ROXY THEATRE MAR 15 - LAS VEGAS,NV - BACKSTAGE BAR & BILLIARDS MAR 17 - PHOENIX,AZ - THE REBEL LOUNGE Savagery implies a lot of things - a lot of them violent and unpleasant. To think of a savage is to think of someone without regard for propriety, or someone who is potentially unclean and ruthless. However it also implies a primal type of energy; unrefined, raw, and passionate, without regard for not only propriety, but convention. So, when listening to SAVAGE HANDS and wondering just where “savage” comes into play, you have your answer. This talented quintet combines rambunctious energy and contagious catchiness with emotion and passion in a manner that brings out the best in the genres they blend, all without compromising on content.   Blossoming from the dereliction of previous projects, SAVAGE HANDS combine moments of brazen and bold heaviness with a backbone of catchy-but-sharp alternative rock to create something fresh, fun and relevant with enough nostalgia to feel comfortable to the otherwise uninitiated. The band are young, but certainly not inexperienced - taking the underground music world by storm with their SharpTone Records signing and debut EP.

The attack in Highland Park was not the only shooting over a violent holiday weekend
Tumblr media
The attack in Highland Park was not the only shooting over a violent holiday weekend The attack at the Highland Park Fourth of July parade was the largest and highest-profile shooting, but far from the only one, over the holiday weekend. It was one of two mass shootings in the Chicago region alone on Monday. Less than 12 hours earlier, five people were injured in a shooting on Chicago’s South Side. The Highland Park shooting stood out in its size (at least three dozen injured), its deadliness (at least six killed) and its location, a wealthy suburb that does not often experience such violence. But it was part of a pattern: the brutal ubiquity of gun violence in a nation with more firearms than people. As of early Monday morning, at least 57 people had been shot in Chicago over the Fourth of July weekend, nine of them fatally, according to NBC Chicago. That did not include the toll from the Highland Park shooting outside the city. Ten hours before a gunman opened fire at the Fourth of July parade in Highland Park — where the median household income is nearly $150,000 and more than 80 percent of the population is white, with a large Jewish community — five people were shot around midnight on Monday in Parkway Gardens, a housing complex in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood, where the median household income is less than $30,000 and more than 90 percent of the population is Black. The five victims, all male, were transported to local hospitals: a 17-year-old shot in the arm, a 19-year-old shot in the leg, a 24-year-old shot in the knee and thigh, a 30-year-old shot in the lower back and side, and a man of unknown age shot in the leg, according to the Chicago Police Department. No arrests were made, and the perpetrator has not been identified, the police said. The shooting was first reported by local news outlets, including The Chicago Sun-Times. Nationwide, the Gun Violence Archive, a tracking project that defines mass shootings as those in which at least four people are killed or injured, has counted 309 so far this year. Four of them happened on Monday. Beyond Highland Park and Chicago, four people were injured in a shooting in Kansas City, Mo., and six were injured in a shooting in Richmond, Va. In Philadelphia, two police officers were shot near the Philadelphia Museum of Art on Monday night. Both officers were transported to the Jefferson University Hospital and are in stable condition, according to the hospital’s media officers. Before that, there were mass shootings over the weekend in Mullins, S.C.; Tacoma, Wash.; Manassas, Va.; Clinton, N.C.; Haltom City, Texas; and New York City. Read the full article

This 1905 home in Kansas City, Missouri is very unusual and magnificent. It’s a Spanish Revival, but it’s also Art Deco. The exterior is very grand and unique- the front porch is gigantic. For $535,000 it was a steal. Check out this one-of-a-kind home.
Tumblr media
The spacious porch has a beamed ceiling and plenty room for tables, chairs, and lounging furniture.
Tumblr media
There’s an entrance foyer leading into the large living room.
Tumblr media
Beautiful 4 season enclosed porch, or “Florida Room.”
Tumblr media
This room is a cross between Spanish and Art Deco. It has beamed walls, and Spanish tile on the fireplace, but above the mantle is an Art Deco mirror feature.
Tumblr media
The dining room has beamed ceilings, leaded glass windows, and a fabulous built-in cabinet.
Tumblr media
The kitchen isn’t completely original, but it does look like maybe the wall paneling was there and the stove actually does look original.
Tumblr media
Large formal dining room with a built-in glass front cabinet.
Tumblr media
The primary bedroom has French doors that open to the Florida Room.
Tumblr media
Clearly, this bath was renovated, but look at how it opens to the floor above.
Tumblr media
This bedroom also has access to the Florida Room.
Tumblr media
But, this is cool- This small room looks like a ship’s bridge. And, it’s the access to the basement that’s a whole ‘nother level of cool.
Tumblr media
So you come down the curved staircase and reach these double doors.
Tumblr media
Down here, you find this amazing large rec room that still has the beautiful wood paneling and a fireplace. Look at the original flooring.
Tumblr media
And, this bar. The house is an entertainer’s dream.
Tumblr media
It has a game room, too.
Tumblr media
And, the historic home (it’s on the national register) has an indoor pool!
Tumblr media
That’s the pool filter in the corner.
Tumblr media
Is this not an amazing house?
Tumblr media
Old cement stairs to the pool
Tumblr media
Look at this. Have you ever seen anything like it? So, you literally fill the basement with water. There’s no place to hang out around the side and looks like it’s only one depth. It’s so weird, I love it.
Tumblr media
And, here’s a shower to wash the chlorine off after your swim.
Tumblr media
There’s a nice outdoor patio.
Tumblr media
And, lots of property. I’m in love with this funky old house.

Construction Loans and Financing: All You Need to Know
Tumblr media
The average property in the United States is gradually aging with time—an estimated 10 percent of the 152.8 million housing units in the country were constructed in the first decade of the 21st century. This is the reason why the construction industry of the United States is booming with more than 7 million employees, over 733,000 employers, and market size of 2 trillion US dollars. But construction work is expensive and may ask an individual to break their bank for the simplest development or house renovations. This is why people seek help from commercial lenders for hard money loans to carry out the construction process.
Construction Loans & Financing
A construction loan is a short-term loan acquired to finance the costs of land, material, and labor for the construction or renovation of a home or other real estate properties.
Anyone who wants to invest their resources into financing construction and other related expenses can acquire a construction loan. It can be applied for by a homeowner or a construction contractor for investing it in their new building project.
How does it Work?
There are different limitations and requirements that you will have to fulfill depending on the commercial lender you choose to work with. Generally, a commercial loan is asset-based lending, typically on a one-year contract after constructing the real estate property.
Home construction loans don’t cover home furnishing and decoration. However, it can be used to buy and repair larger appliances such as a washing machine or a refrigerator.
Types of Loans
Interim Construction Loan
This is a loan for financing the building costs of your home. Once the house is fully constructed and you move in, the loan becomes a permanent mortgage.
A major benefit from this type of loan is that since you’re still active on the lending program—you will only have to pay the closing costs once, which can save the overall construction cost.
Take-Out Loan
A take-out loan is when a house is constructed on an existing construction loan, and a permanent mortgage is acquired on top of that. This process is a part of long-term financing and replaces the construction loan that was previously acquired.
Acquisition & Development
This type of loan allows the owners to use a fraction of the loan to buy a property and use the rest of it to make necessary improvements and renovations.
