1:15pm sitting up in my room in Karen. Listening to C’est toi by Joe Dwet File. It is a cool cloudy rainy day. The neighborhood is soooo green. Like 50 shades of green or more. I am so blessed that I am in the suburbs that are not flooding. I miss the sunny days and heat. Moka wa Mwiti told me the rains will end soon because we saw a bunch of butterflies yesterday. I love old wives tales because there is often some truth to them. So I will keep looking out for the butterflies and know that is our rainbow. That when the butterflies come, the floods will stop. Isn’t that beautiful? Today is a holiday in Kenya, folx are supposed to be planting trees. I hope people do. I am people and I should be but bruh, it is wet and rainy. I put a mental note though that on B’Earthdays, I’ll be gifting people even those far away with a tree planted in their honor. And for my kids the age they turn and the number of trees planted will match. There's a puddle of water on the roof outside our bedroom and all these little birds are using it as a bird bath. It is so beautiful. I just looked out and there's a woodpecker pecking on a tree. I know this is what I missed. Life happening around me. Life happening within me. Life happening for me. I feel less uncertainty, I feel a bit more settled. I have been home for 2 weeks. I think going back and forth to Munene’s without any set days/plan was destabilizing me a lot more than I thought. I am grateful for his space though, especially when KaMami and LoustaLousta were here because the house was fuller and louder. Now that it’s back to a small crew in the house, I can be here primarily and focus on writing, thinking, reading, dreaming. Then go see him some days. His roommate is an ASSHOLE. That’s all imma say on dat. No its not, its that he lacks emotional awareness therefore cannot build healthy relationships. And instead of being self aware he projects it onto other people as though everyone is the problem, especially women. But alas, everyone is doing the best they can with what they know. I can’t wait for them to not be flat mates anymore. Anyway, so back to some structure. It is hard though because it means we are not seeing each other on a whim. But I also think that will help us focus on life a bit more. Oh wait…is this reality setting in? Is this the part where the honeymoon phase and reality clash? Shout out to the Universe for TWO months of unlimited bliss. Shout out to the rainy szn for peak cuddles. Adulting is so wild. Like I am making a conscious choice to be more time and space considerate because it was throwing me off balance. Even the self awareness of that is growth. Young me would have ridden the honeymoon train  all the way to hell. Now with more knowledge we can handle the hormonal highs and lows of early Love. Bruh I have grown. Someone from UPEI reached out about me being part of their lecture. They came across me from the radio interview of the Gøod projxct. And so it begins. I'm in Kenya thooo. I’ll reach out and see how that works. If the vibe and/or the money right…imma do it. Then blow that money on a trip because I didn’t expect it. Anyone else struggle to write the word "didn’t?" I always put one too many D’s. PURRRR THAT D!!! Focus my nigga. This month's niche essay will be on Kendrick and Drake. I listen to Drake more because it's easy, fun listening.
