Rey Johnson needed the money. That's why she took the job at number 12 Crimson Lane - Mustafar's most notorious brothel.

It wouldn't take long, a month at most? She could sell her body for a month if it meant she could pay off this crippling debt that threatened to destroy her life. The debt that clung to her like her troubled past, never allowing her to be free.

Just one month and she could leave it all behind.

That was until her client, the distant and slightly terrifying Kylo Ren, forces her the remember the things she has struggled to forget.

Could confronting the past finally show her the path to the future?

This fan fiction is mystery-filled thriller/drama. At times it deals with darker themes and heavy issues. In saying that, I hope you will find it a thought-provoking and emotive story that explores our two favourite characters and the love and redemption they find in each other.

“Can I ask who the client is?”

“He’s one of our regulars, comes in around once a month. No one ever has any trouble with him, but he has a list of demands. Here,” she slipped Rey a manilla envelope with the name tag sticking out.  Ren, Kylo.

Rey pulled the file towards her, angling it under the lamplight of the desk, trying to appear professional even though her hands trembled and she could barely remember to breathe.

Name: Kylo Ren Sex: Male Age: 32 Height: 6’3. Preferences: Red and black lace sheer underwear only.

“Is that his real name?”

“What do you think?” Phasma huffed, taking up the emery board and swiping away imaginary rough edges of her manicured nails. “They never use their real name.”

Rey continued to read.

Special instructions: No eye contact. No kissing. No hugging. No questions.

“Got that?” Phasma eyed her closely.

“Yeah.” Rey closed the file, sliding it back to her. “He sounds… charming.”

Working at a coffee shop in Seattle was neither romantic nor fun, but at least some of the customers were easy on the eyes. When handsome Ben walks into her life, Rey is convinced that someone like him would never be interested in a barista like her. But after a particularly hard day at work, Rey’s car gets a flat and Ben is there for the rescue. On the drive back to the U-District, will Rey and Ben discover that they share more than a love of caffeine between them?

Chapter 18 excerpt - Ben awoke to the sounds of snoring in his ear and light shining in his face. Something sharp and uncomfortable was digging into his chest. “Fuck,” he mumbled under his breath. A very bleary eyed Ben ducked his chin to see Rey’s arm on him, her elbow digging into the spot on his chest that hurt. Putting two and two together in his fatigued haze, he realized her hand was also on his neck, pulling at him in a way that made it ache. Somehow in the night Rey had mostly collapsed to his side, but one of her arms was still clinging to him, her leg still thrown over his body. Turning his head slightly, eyes squinting, he found Rey sound asleep, her face pressed against the bed, mouth open, a wet spot from drool on the sheets. He smiled at the sight and let his head fall back against his pillow, forcing a chuckle to die in his throat. Choosing to not wake her, he stared up at the ceiling and gave himself a moment as Rey slept peacefully next to him. He had no idea what time it was, but from the sun’s rays he figured it couldn’t be early. Thankfully, he had changed plans with Kay last minute last night and made it a brunch. He couldn’t imagine moving right now - even if Rey wasn’t on top of him. The events of the past few days had slowly worn away at him, both physically and emotionally, and now that he was home, his defenses were both raised and failing miserably. If he had it his way, he’d stay in bed with Rey for a week and think of nothing outside these walls. Holding in a groan, Ben realized how quickly things had changed. Not only in his public life - work and royal - but in his personal life as well. Not two weeks ago, he wouldn’t have been able to fathom a time when he’d let a woman stay in his New York City home. Choosing to cuddle in his Alderaanian royal apartment with a woman, that had been utterly laughable. And yet he was currently in bed with Rey still clinging to him in sleep. In Alderaan. In his bedroom. It felt like warp speed; the strange thing was he didn’t want to change a thing. It was Rey. A woman who baffled and excited him almost as much as calmed him. A woman who he had a feeling he’d choose every time if only she let him. He didn’t know what to make of such a shift, except for the fact that he wasn’t panicking. Wasn’t worried at all - at least not about her. The thought settled in his bones as he blinked away sleep, reassuring himself that he’d made the right call in asking her to come home with him. He felt her stir. Her leg flexing under his stomach and rubbing up against his morning wood resting on his thigh. Biting the inside of his cheek, he carefully shifted his legs under her to avoid that happening again. Although he’d like nothing more than to get Rey naked and slide into her perfect cunt, they had a schedule to keep. Not to mention, he didn’t exactly know where they stood on sex since the other night. And if he was being honest, he was a bit terrified to ask. A loud and groggy sigh escaped Rey’s lips as she stretched, her hand finally unlatching itself from his neck, fingers sleepily trailing down to his bare chest. Ben glanced down at her and smiled as she opened her eyes, her face still half smooshed against the mattress. Rey groaned in acknowledgement, which made Ben laugh. “Morning to you too,” he whispered, voice rough from disuse.

Chapter Six is live!

Fic Summary

Ben Solo meets Rey Niima when his mother asks him to drop off a few boxes of old sheets and towels at the animal shelter. He is immediately charmed by her and decides to volunteer at the shelter to get to know her better. In the process of building his relationship with Rey and learning to take care of the animals, Ben learns new ways to heal old hurts.

Chapter Preview

“No one can withstand the power of the kitten,” she said triumphantly. She put the carrier on the floor, opened it, and bent her head to talk to the kittens. “Come on out of there, babies.”

Four kittens bumbled their way out of the carrier. They were tiny, fuzzy, rolly-polly, and unspeakably adorable.

“Oh, right away you bring out the big guns,” Ben laughed.

“Naturally!” she smiled up at him. “This is the Harry Potter litter—I name them in batches. Here we’ve got Harry, Ron, Hermione, and Draco. They’re about seven weeks old, so just one more week with me before they’re ready to be adopted. Their personalities are all really starting to shine.”

I really fucking love it when people who stan characters and claim to love and support them go against everything the character they supposedly love and support would want.

I love it when Re/yl/os call Crylo “Ben”, the name he HATES.

I love it when Adrien stans insist that it’s bashing and out of character to say that he would not be happy to be trapped in his house with his abusive father.

I love it.

Because it just proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that they do not like the character they claim to love.

They like the imaginary version of the character that lives in their heads.

Adrien Agreste would want the schools to reopen because he hates being home-schooled and he would do anything to get to go to public school like a normal kid.

She didn’t want to fight the tendril of hope that was unfurling in her, wanting to believe in what he was saying, but this last thing made her pause. “You want to bring the Knights of Ren to Jakku in concert?” she asked flatly.

“Jakku, or as close to it as I can get.” He nodded firmly.

“Ben, this is crazy… do you hear yourself? You can’t just… drag the band out across half the country because you like a girl!” She threw her hands up.

“Oh yeah? Says who?” His brows lowered, his voice dropping into a dramatic growl, showing her a glimpse of Kylo as he leaned in. “I can do whatever I want.”
