Some bits from @sazeracx ‘s and my “Ghost is made of ghosts” hot take, Mary Goore (who moonlights as Special Ghoul) grew up in 1870s Berlin and was heavily involved in the anarchist scene.
The Original Repugnants — Mary, Esther, Moritz, Emmerich, and Simon. (And how they’re seen by the press, img 6) 
Mary - A snarling ball of love bouncing around Berlin. Born in Linköping, grew up in Berlin. Tenement rat, worked in a textile factory to support his family. Now alone in the world, scraping by on meager odd jobs and prostitution. Openly a Satanist; dreams of meeting that new Cardinal someday. Nothing much left to lose, so liable to be found in most demonstrations (1) and just as likely to get punched out by the cops before he’s arrested (2). 
Esther - A tiny Jewish academic, commonlaw married to Moritz. Mary is in love with her. No one’s sure if she’s in love with him too, not even her. They met when he chained himself to her during a protest (3). The two of them often share clothes. She was the one to bring Mary to the group, unaware they all had already met him in various ways (5). Warm but no bullshit. 
Moritz - The “leader” of the group (which Mary finds ironic since theyre commies). Moritz is more focused on far away ideals rather than tangible changes. He and Mary clash often. When they first met Mary broke his nose. He feels… something… towards Mary. It’s complicated. Also a surprisingly devout Catholic. Stern and passionate. 
Emmerich - also called Emmy. The son of a rich industrialist, his world was completely changed when he fell in love with Simon, a servant in his household. Often bankrolls the group — paid for Moritz and Esther to get through university. Mary snuck into several of his university lectures and sat beside him (4); Emmy was more than happy to share his notes. Sweet and gentle, but at times disconnected from the harsh realities the others live. 
Simon - A servant since he could walk, Simon has the placid customer-service face down to a T. He usually follows what the others think, but when he has a plan, it’s best to listen. Wildly in love with Emmy but quiet about it. Knew of Mary before any of the others just from the #hotgoss around Berlin. Steady and active.
