Weekly Journal 2 : Going To KL With Friends
Back in June, my friends and I went to Kuala Lumpur to celebrate our SPM results. Alhamdulillah, we all passed with flying colours after all the hardships we have been through together. It's all worth it. We planned to go to Kuala Lumpur because it had been on our bucket list for a long time. So we all think that this is the right time to go on a vacation with my friends.
First of all, we gathered together somewhere in May to discuss the itinerary and what to do in KL. Some of us had numerous suggestions on which tourist spot we planned to go. The first stop that we planned to go is KLCC. The main tourist spot in KL. I knew all of us had been to KLCC, but seeing the twin tower up close along with my friends gave off different vibes that I couldn't explain. We booked a hotel near KLCC and took a rest and getting ready to go to the next destination. After a short rest, we went out again to eat dinner. We were in a dilemma. There were few restaurants in our suggestion, but apparently our time was running late, so we chose to eat at Kagura Ramen which is located near Lot10. It's located in Bukit Bintang and luckily it's not far from our hotel. They had various types of ramen and I ate white ramen. To wrap up our first day in KL, it was so much fun and it was better than I expected!
Move on to the second day, which is our last day. It was a bit sad because happiness is about to end. On the second day, we didn’t really have much to do because we were all packing our bags to go back home. On the other hand, we went to Chow Kit Road to visit cute cafes. I can say that it was kind of expensive, but anything is worth it whenever we're with our beloved ones. We had so much fun there by recapping back what we did in KL. Not a single bad thing happened in our sight.
To wrap up, going on a vacation with my friends was one of the best things I did this year. I enjoyed a lot ! To anyone out there, I recommend that you all have to go out for a vacation with your friends. That's all from me. Bye!

Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur: A Contemporary Urban Escape Near the Petronas Towers
Hotel Maya, located in the bustling heart of Kuala Lumpur, offers a perfect mix of modern amenities and convenience. Just a stone’s throw from the Petronas Twin Towers, this stylish five-star hotel caters to both leisure and business travelers seeking an urban retreat with a personal touch. Though it’s been around for some time, its contemporary design, excellent service, and thoughtful details continue to make it a popular choice in the city.
youtube
Location: A Central Hub in Kuala Lumpur
One of the standout features of Hotel Maya is its unbeatable location. The hotel is a mere five-minute walk from the Petronas Towers and KLCC Park, placing guests right in the center of the city's action. You’ll find top shopping destinations like Suria KLCC mall, as well as a wide variety of restaurants and bars within walking distance. The KLCC LRT station is also nearby, providing easy access to other parts of the city. For travelers looking to explore both the iconic landmarks and hidden gems of Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Maya’s location is hard to beat.
Room Experience: Spacious, Modern, and Comfortable
Despite its slightly older structure, Hotel Maya’s rooms remain spacious and thoughtfully designed. Guests will find king-size beds that are firm yet comfortable, a rain shower, and a separate bathtub in the bathroom, offering a luxurious experience after a long day of sightseeing or business meetings. Large floor-to-ceiling windows allow plenty of natural light to fill the rooms, and the movable desk makes it easy to adjust your workspace depending on whether you prefer city views or room-facing comfort.
While some of the in-room tech, like the TV and DVD player, might seem a bit dated, the thoughtful layout and the cleanliness of the room ensure a cozy and functional stay. The minibar, complete with snacks and beverages, and a yoga mat in each room add to the overall comfort, making it feel like a well-rounded space for both work and relaxation.
Facilities: Spa, Yoga Studio, and More
Hotel Maya offers several amenities that cater to wellness enthusiasts and relaxation seekers. One of its standout features is the hydrotherapy pool, a unique touch for those looking to unwind after a busy day. The yoga studio offers a peaceful environment for guests to practice mindfulness and maintain their fitness routine during their stay.
For guests who want to indulge, there’s a spa offering a range of treatments, though prices are a bit higher as expected at a luxury hotel. The fitness center is well-equipped, ensuring you can keep up with your workout routine while away from home.
Dining: Great Variety and Quality
Hotel Maya features a few well-rated dining options, including its main restaurant, Still Waters, which offers a mix of Japanese, Western, and local cuisines. Breakfast is a highlight, offering a broad selection of both Asian and Western dishes that cater to various tastes. The staff also goes out of their way to accommodate early check-outs with packed breakfasts for guests on the go.
The Sky Lounge, located on the hotel’s rooftop, provides panoramic views of the KL skyline and is a great spot for cocktails or a quiet evening drink. Its proximity to the Petronas Towers gives guests the perfect opportunity to enjoy stunning views while relaxing after a long day.
Service: Friendly and Efficient
The service at Hotel Maya is consistently praised by guests for its friendliness and attentiveness. Check-in is smooth and easy, with staff taking time to explain all the amenities the hotel has to offer. They are quick to assist with any requests, ensuring that guests feel well cared for during their stay.
Even small touches, like the packed breakfasts for guests who have early departures, show the hotel’s commitment to making sure every detail is taken care of. Whether you're seeking restaurant recommendations or need help navigating the city, the staff at Hotel Maya are always ready to assist with a smile.
Value: A Top Option for Affordability and Comfort
One of the biggest selling points of Hotel Maya is its incredible value for money. For a five-star hotel located so close to Kuala Lumpur's top attractions, the rates are surprisingly affordable, especially if you book during off-peak times. Guests often mention being able to secure rooms at rates as low as $50 per night, making this one of the best deals in the city for a luxury stay.
Given its central location, spacious rooms, and excellent service, Hotel Maya offers a premium experience without the hefty price tag often associated with five-star properties in the city center.
Final Thoughts: A Contemporary Haven in KL’s Bustling City Center
Hotel Maya Kuala Lumpur provides a balanced combination of modern comfort, top-notch service, and excellent value. Its central location, just a short walk from the Petronas Towers, makes it an ideal base for exploring Kuala Lumpur’s main attractions. While the property shows some signs of age, the thoughtful amenities, including the hydrotherapy pool, yoga studio, and panoramic rooftop lounge, more than make up for it.
If you're looking for a luxurious yet affordable stay in the heart of Kuala Lumpur, Hotel Maya is an excellent choice, offering the perfect retreat after a busy day in the city.

I’m alive
Humm, I have written in a while. So hello. How have you been? My tonsils are a little enlarged, but I don’t feel sick. Isn’t this better than me saying I’m good?
Anyways, if you follow me on Instagram, @lzcai, you will have known that I went on yet another Asia trip. I took EVA Air from San Francisco to Taipei. The round-trip ticket cost $1,646.62. It’s a rather expensive flight, but I flew out during the American holiday season. I was thinking, for that price, I’m actually not too far away from premium economy. The flight was nice with decent food in economy. I watched Crazy Rich Asian on the flight. It was my first time watching Crazy Rich Asian and I thought it was pretty good. I was crying in the flight while watching that movie. I probably spent more time watching movies than I should have when flying. Usually I like to shift my internal clock immediately to my destination’s time, so I won't be a mess when I land.
I landed at Taipei at night. My friend who I was traveling with was flying standby. He didn’t make it to any of the flights to Taipei that night, so I had to travers through Taiwan with just my English knowledge to go to the hotel. First issue was, which type of reloadable subway card to buy? I was confused that there are 4 different types of cards in the vending machine. I had no fucking clue what to buy for which company. So I just bought a single fare ticket for NT$150. Then transferred in the Taipei main station to reach my final destination. Again I had difficulty understanding the subway signs even though it is not in Chinese. It was raining that day. So I had to roll my luggage in the rain. Did I mention that I was staying at a gay hotel? I was staying at Gs Hotel. The front desk was already aware of my late arrival because my friend told him I was coming.
Anyways, I’m sure you don’t care about every small detail. So about the gay hotel. The rooms are small. Each floor has a bathroom, but the 2nd floor has a bigger common bathroom. The place is clean and decently modern. It’s pretty cheap at ~$60/night for 2 beds. The goal of the place is to play with other guest within the hotel. If you want to invite outside people, it cost NT$200. It’s not a bad place to stay. I would recommend this place if you don’t have much luggage and you’re okay with small rooms. I probably would not have chosen to stay 3 nights like I did. 3 nights felt a little too long. Maybe 1-2 nights is good enough.
Generally, I like Taiwan. Taiwan has some good food, has plenty to explore and I felt safe. My initial impression of Taipei was, it looks like a typical Chinese city sort of like Hong Kong but with no English and less high-rises.
When I left Taiwan, I felt like I left a boyfriend there - that I have no idea how to communicate with since I don’t speak Chinese. So I was a little sad leaving, but oh well. And here’s one of my more liked photos on Instagram.
The next place I went to was Kuala Lumpur. I know I have some Malaysian followers, so it was interesting seeing Malaysia and the mix of Muslim and Asian culture. Kuala Lumpur has it’s urban high-rise part near KLCC and Petronas Tower, but I was staying with my friend in the suburbs of Kuala Lumpur. I’ve never seen suburban South East Asia, so that was cool. I’ll describe it similar to Japanese anime of suburban homes, but with a more run-down Chinese look.
Here’s where I was when I was in Kuala Lumpur for a day - kind of everywhere. Even though Malaysia sort of officially uses English, not everyone knows English but kind of does at the same time.
Mosquitos loves me when I was in Kuala Lumpur. I got so many bites. Here’s a selfie of me at a hawker food court area with an iced Milo drink.
Next stop was Singapore. We actually went to Singapore by bus - I never thought that would happen, but hey, I was in for an adventure. After leaving Malaysia and past Singapore’s customs, I was quite surprised that it looks almost like California in their “industrial area”.
Long story short about Singapore, Singapore is pretty, clean, has a bunch of weird rules, most English friendly, people doesn’t like Little India - that’s where our hotel was, and food was okay. We spent New Years at Singapore and an additional night. I’m sure there’s more to see, but that’s all I had time for.
Here’s a picture of me in the rain at Sentosa Island. Oh and I turned blond, but I’m sure you knew that if you’re following me here already.

Trip to KL
This will be my first and not last post here. So guys, do follow with my updates ya? :)
I shall start with just a tiny part of my relationship issue recently. I got out of a 1 year plus relationship because at the end I lost feelings due to several issues (not gonna talk about it since I have already moved on quite sometimes back). After 3 months, I met someone new whom I used to see him as a potential boyfriend to be (I trusted him but he broke it). And so, one of my friend invited me for a short vacation with 9 more people, I decided to go so that I could clear my mind before work starts.
Day 1 - At 9am, Zq came over to my block downstairs as he is staying really near me. We took grab to Yishun to pick Rek up and continued the ride to Hougang to meetup with the rest. Thanks Rek for the treat.
About 5-6 hours later, we touched down at the Hotel during evening time. We checked in, had a quick shower before we proceed to have our dinner (I had tomyum fried rice and it tasted really good). It was drizzling but luckily the rain is not that big. After our dinner, we went to the convenient store to grab some tidbits and alcohol. We went back to J room and sing Birthday song to him as it was his birthday! Then, back to room to shower and get ourselves ready for KL zouk, we pre-drink at Xw room before that. We got ourselves a table in Zouk, the music is really awesome! J was rather quiet until he had some drinks. After club ends at around 330am-4am, we went back to our hotel, grabbed some cup noodles & the rest came over to my room to eat & chit-chat a bit before we sleep.
Day 2 - I woke up at 10am, my roommate Rn was still sleeping, so I prepared coffee for both of us and went to shower. She woke up by the sounds created by me when I was preparing. HAHAHA. We meet up with the rest at 11am, it was only 7 of us as the other 3 had their own programs. We headed to Pavilion to have our lunch end up we chose the wrong restaurant because the food tasted awful. After which, we went to Berjaya times square to have a walk then back to hotel for Massage. (the only thing I commend about the hotel is the massage was really good). Thanks J for the offer to take my bag up first :)
After the massage, we went back to our rooms, my friend lost her 100sgd (this is the main reason that I do not recommend anyone to stays there). We made a report, although we did not get back the money but the hotel did some things to compensate us (it did not cover the full amount). After everything was done, we went to a Korean Restaurant to have our dinner (the food is superb and price is reasonable). After dinner, we went to KL Zouk again! This time round we had our table at Phuture instead. It was fun but still Zouk is preferred :) I had more talk with Xw this time round and we became closer too!
This time round we went back earlier. J was in the same cab with Rn and me, and so, he came to our room to have cup noodles. I'm always the first to shower because I love to sit on the bed to have my cup noodles while watching tv. Zq joined us after. We had a great chat and h2h talk, it actually bring us closer as I hardly meet Rn and I just got to know Zq and J. As usual, I was the first to sleep after the chit-chatting session.
Day 3 - It's time to go back to Singapore. We had buffet breakfast at the restaurant (It tasted normal, not too bad). Thanks J for the Mocha but I was so shagged that I fell asleep in the Van after awhile. Halfway through the journey, we had Kfc for lunch (it was great). YL and me alighted at Kranji mrt then we took grab home as we were drained out while the rest alighted at Hougang to grab dinner (I wondered how they survived to the dinner), I totally lost my appetite last night and skipped dinner. I KO-ed at 1030pm.
I find it quite a waste that we did not have time to visit KLCC and Twins tower although I have already been there twice because there is much more things to shop around and good food too. However, I felt so much better after Rn advise as well as the crazy and fun times with the rest. Thank you guys and I look forward to our next trip :)

Best Holiday Place In Malaysia: Travel Guide
What do you guys think? Why do most travellers come to Malaysia? Mystery, treasure or maybe adventure? Let us go deeper and get to know more about how the peninsula of Malaysia is attracting its travellers by giving them extraordinary variety in terms of tourist places, religion, jungles, beaches and so on.
There's of course a very special cause behind Malaysia being one of the top holiday places. The cities over there are urban and loaded with interesting activities, while both the islands and the lush jungles are way more peaceful and friendly of the lot. Here are the Insights into the Best Holiday Place In Malaysia.
Batu Caves
The Batu Caves are one of the most beautiful caves located in Malaysia and are also quite near to Kuala Lumpur! These caves are located just 13 km from the centre of Kuala Lumpur. Individuals will get innumerable tour guides and agents running half-day trips to these magnificent caves. However, what we recommend is that you do not really need to waste your money on expensive or organised tours.
Decent quality food and transport are available and this is why individuals do not require to spend extra on their transportation and stuff! The Batu Caves has got 4 temptations and those attractions are Dark Cave, Cave Villa, Ramayana Cave and Temple Cave.
Kuala Lumpur
Kuala Lumpur is listed in the Best Holiday Place In Malaysia when talking about the top temptations. Kuala Lumpur’s Petronas Twin Tower is perhaps one of the most important landmarks of Malaysia which are repeatedly mentioned and photographed in numerous travel guides and journals.
Tourists easily and simply can get themselves a ticket to tour the sky bridge which probably provides all with the best dramatic scenario of the entire wonderful city. But you also can choose to adore this beautiful formation from a ground-level area in the adjoining park named KLCC.
Johor
Johor is quite a big state! It is one of the largest and is also ranked 5th in Malaysia. Muar village is situated on the banks of the strong river Muar and it consists of temples, mosques, coasts and so on! It is known to be the Royal town of Johor. Gunung Ledang National Park is just 30 km away from the Muar village and is enclosed by the legendary cliff Ophir on Johor's boundary. The park is full of various foreign wildlife especially filled with tigers, and elephants encompassing the magnificent waterfalls as well.
Moreover, the national park has got hotels and camping alternatives for its tourists. To experience nature from more within one needs to reserve in advance for poolside camping.
Perhentian Islands
Perhentian Islands are those Islands which are listed in the top Islands of the entire World, the cause behind this is its glass-clear water which makes the certain Tropical Island a strong jewel property to explore the marine life!
The white sandy beaches of the Island can become a couple's favourite and romantic location where both can sit and enjoy the sun having lots and lots of fun. Perhentian is allocated into 2 different sorts of Islands. Both of the Islands are located around 21 km off the coast of Terengganu state, which is on the South China Sea.
Penang Georgetown
The train which tourists usually board from the central station of Kuala Lumpur is the one and only easiest and the simplest way to reach Penang State. At Butterworth station, individuals do get off the train, from there Penang ferry assistance does effortlessly take tourists to Georgetown in less than 5 MYR, that too it just takes around 20 minutes of time to reach the destination.
Penang Georgetown is very different and attractive! Hence it seizes a very crucial place in Malaysia.
Sandakan
Sandakan is the second most vastest city on the coast of Sabah State! It is basically a gateway for animal devotees, climbers, and hikers and is also a very well known, famous and popular ecotourism location.
Tourists do come from all the way around the globe in Malaysia just to experience the near connection with the 'Man of the Forest' The Mighty Orangutans.
Minor Best Holiday Place in Malaysia
Banjaran Hotsprings
Japan is well known for its terrific hot springs, right? But please hold on a second! What if it is Malaysia and not Japan? So, pack your bags and plan your trip to Malaysia now because individuals now can also enjoy and have fun bathing in hot springs over there at the Banjaran Hotsprings. Rediscover KL Sentral
'Where is the greatest spot to live in KL?' is a typical question among people who come to KL for work. And, more precisely, where in KL Sentral... What is the significance of KL Sentral? This is because KL Sentral is only 2 kilometres from the city centre and has close living amenities that few other places in the state can match.
You'll never be too far from anything, and you'll never be short on options for places to eat or shop because you're smack in the centre of some wonderful townships including Bangsar, Mid-Valley City, Pudu, and Brickfields.
Here are some of the reasons why KL Sentral is a great place to live, whether you're just starting out or nearing retirement.

Imagine being only a few mins away from all of the comforts you use on a daily basis – and the time you will save by not having to commute. KL Sentral is surrounded by shopping malls and regions where you can do your shopping and get your daily requirements without having to drive far. If you're looking for more variety, take the MRT, LRT, or KTM Komuter to Mid Valley Megamall or the KL City Centre, both of which are only a few minutes away.
Nu Sentral Shopping Mall, the string of high-rise luxury hotels and condo in KL Sentral, as well as the various sorts of restaurants and cafés, not to mention the tall office buildings positioned within the overall design, further exemplify the essence of urban living. The property is perfectly located next to the vibrant and bustling Brickfields city, near to Bangsar's hotspot and a short drive from KLCC.
2. Transportation Hub
KL Sentral is the city's main transportation hub. It gives you access to the country's most extensive rail network. This region of Kuala Lumpur is frequently associated with Brickfields because it is only a short distance away. Sentral is home to NU Sentral, a gigantic mixed-use development that contains a massive number of retail and office spaces and connects directly (yes, you get to stroll through an air-conditioned mall) to Kuala Lumpur's largest transportation junction.
KL Sentral connects directly to all five rail networks (LRT, MRT, Monorail, KTM Komuter, and KTM) that make travelling around KL extremely convenient, allowing you to avoid all traffic jams and even access to railway lines connecting KL to other states, including one that takes you directly to the airport (KLIA Express) in just 28 minutes for only RM55.
3. Career & Business Opportunity
Living in the heart of Malaysia's capital city opens up a plethora of business and career opportunities. All of the city's key enterprises are conveniently located, which opens up professional and business options while also saving time on travel. Imagine having more free time because your employment is only a few minutes away. KL CBD is also close to KL Sentral, making it simple to look for new job prospects if that's your thing.
