On the third day we will proceed to Khandala and have a great tour of the place. We will visit following beautiful attractions of Khandala: Duke’s Nose:
Duke’s Nose is mostly discovered by hikers. Another name of the place is Naagphani or The Cobra’s Hood, again going by the shape of cliff. Being famed for trekking and rock climbing, one can also get a picturesque sight of the Duke’s Nose from the Sunset Point in Khandala.
Karla and Bhaja Cave:
A complex of cave shrines constructed by Buddhist monks during Satavahana’s rule. This is the largest Hinayana Buddhist chaitya (temple) in India. Karla cave is the finest example of rock-cut architecture and it takes about 20 minutes to climb up. There is a splendid waterfall near the Bhaja cave, where the travellers can refresh themselves with a dip. Visapur Fort and Lohagarh Fort are just near to the Karla and Bhaja caves.
Visapur Fort:
Visapur Fort is a part of Lohagarh-Visapur fortification. The fort is a favourable destination in the monsoon. Visapur fort is larger and higher than it’s twin Lohagarh fort. Here one can also find some good numbers of Hanuman ji temples. Camping and trekking is also available in the landscape.
Lohagarh Fort:
One of the many forts of Chhatrapati Shivaji, the fort is flanked by nature at its lush green and best panoramic views of the surrounding hills and hamlets. This is an ideal destination for trekkers and nature lovers. Lohagarh fort is certainly worth a visit.
Shingorba Temple:
A beautiful old temple situated in old Khandala Ghat, is a famous tourist spot on the region. The temple offers so much of devotion. Overnight stay at hotel in Lonavla.
