Dharmasthala earlier known as Kuduma is a scared religious destination of Karnataka based in the Beltangady Taluk of south Kanara district. The region sits on the banks of River Netharavathi, with the hills and forests of Malnad in Karnataka giving the region a very picturesque and divine look. Dharmasthala is a well renowned holy destination open to people across all religion, caste and creed. 

The main attraction of Dharmasthala is the Shri Manjunatha Temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. According to legends, the temple was built by the Heggade family after a lingam was brought from the nearby Kadri in Mangalore by Annappa, a local diety serving the family after the Heggade family had expressed their wish to worship lord Shiva.

Dharmasthala literally meaning abode of religion and charity is an example of religious tolerance as the temple gates are open to people across all religion, caste and creed. The region also worships the Jain Tirthankaras right beside lord Shiva and the other local daivas. Even more the temple is run by the Jain administration while the religious rights are performed by Hindu priests. Dharmasthala is also home to eight Jain basadis and a large 11 meter high Bahubali statue, whose origin dates back to 1604 AD.

Dharamasthala being an abode of charity offers free food and shelter to all the pilgrims to the region and highly believes and also practices charities in the fields of food, education, medicine and family welfare. There are several hotels in Dharmasthala that offer good lodging facility within a reasonable rate.
