DONO is a clean family entertainer and works due to its simplicity.

DONO is the story of two strangers falling in love. Dev Saraf (Rajveer Deol) is based in Bengaluru and runs a start-up named Primary Workflow Solutions. The business is not going great. On top of it, Alina (Kanikka Kapur), his best friend since childhood and whom he loves dearly, is getting married. Dev declines to be a part of the festivities. But he changes his mind as he feels that attending her marriage can help him find closure. He flies to Hua Hin, Thailand where the marriage is taking place. There, he bumps into Meghna Doshi (Paloma), a close friend of the groom, Nikhil (Rohan Khurana). Another close friend of Nikhil, Gaurav (Aditya Nanda), is also present. He happens to be the ex-boyfriend of Meghna. Both broke up just a month ago. Dev and Meghna are poles apart. While he’s unable to come to terms that the love of his life is getting married, Meghna seems to have moved on rather well. Yet, both get attracted to each other. What happens next forms the rest of the film.

Avnish S Barjatya's story is nothing special. There’s hardly any storyline. Avnish S Barjatya and Manu Sharma's screenplay is engaging and is peppered with sweet and simple moments. However, the writing gets stretched after a point. Avnish S Barjatya and Manu Sharma's dialogues are devoid of any over-the-top one-liners and are very situational.Avnish S Barjatya's direction is uncomplicated. He understands the technicalities like a pro, despite being a debutant director. Also, just like the style of his father Sooraj Barjatya, his content is devoid of any intimacy or violence. It’s a complete, clean family entertainer. The situations in the film are very relatable be it domination by a partner, the quest to find closure, unrequited love, hypocrisy of the society involving womenfolk etc. Also, the troubles and fun associated with a destination wedding, especially when it’s abroad, make for a great watch. Some characters and comical scenes like the cricket match, Dev-Meghna's meeting at the pani puri stall, etc, add to the humour.On the flipside, at 156 minutes, the film is too lengthy. After a point, it becomes tedious to sit through the film. Secondly, the track of Dev and his parents is very unconvincing. It is strange that Dev is meeting his parents after three years at the Thailand wedding. Yet, he’s not shown spending time with them. Some factual errors distract viewers. For instance, Dev coolly says that he has a flight in 2 hours. Yet, he’s seated in his hotel which is more than an hour's drive from the nearest airport!Both Rajveer Deol and Paloma look great on screen and have a fine presence. However, they need to fine-tune their craft. Kanikka Kapur is decent. Aditya Nanda plays his character with panache. Manik Papneja (Gopal aka Gappu) is superb and raises a lot of laughs. Poojan Chhabra (Vilas) also adds to the fun. Rohan Khurana gets no scope. Sanjay Nath (Jagmohan; the groom’s father) is excellent as the man who never smiles. Micky Makhija (Dilip Saraf)’s performance suffers due to the writing. Mohit Chauhan (Ashok Jaisingh) leaves a mark in the beginning but later on, he doesn’t have much to do. Tisca Chopra (Anjali Malhotra) hams. Varun Buddhadev (young Dev) and Muskan Kalyani (young Alina) are lovely.Dono: Official Trailer | Rajveer Deol, Paloma Thakeria, Avnish S. BarjatyaShankar-Ehsaan-Loy's music doesn’t have a shelf life. The title song is the most memorable one. 'Khamma Ghani' is based on an interesting idea. George Joseph's background score has a cinematic, commercial feel.Chirantan Das' cinematography is appropriate. The locales of Thailand are well-shot. Sujeet Sawant and Sriram Iyengar's production design is top-class. Terrence Lobo's costumes are very glamorous, especially the ones worn by the leading actors. Shweta Venkat Mathew's editing is weak. Don’t be surprised, this is my first-time visit to Phuket in Thailand. Patong is a hotspot with many tourists from the world who came to the island to relax, enjoy the island sight-seeing, eating out and have fun. The weather here is quite hot due to its humid weather because Phuket is an island, surrounded by Andaman sea.

The first day I took an hour flight from KL to reach the Phuket International Airport. In the meantime, looking for a taxi to our hotel in Patong, we also booked a tour to Phi Phi Island and other island attractions which I’m not sure what is the name of it.

It took about one and a half hours to reach Coconut Village Resort, located at Prachanukroh Road. It is very happening at night in this area and packed with tourists from different countries, walking back and forth along the road, be it day or night, where the people go to Patong Beach or the other way for food. Tourists from Hong Kong, China, Japan, South Korea, Middle-East, Europe, you name.

My hotel room kind of big for one person, interconnected to next room and facing T-junction. Not good feng shui for sleep? It’s too noisy at night with cars and bikes.

Guess it is a lot more happening on the weekends. You will also see many tuk-tuks, tour vans and tourists on motorcycles. It’s nonstop busy on the road. There are a lot of bike rental shops around Patong if you want to get a bike.

There are varieties of food in Patong from food stalls, food court, cafes, restaurants and night market as well for souvenirs. There are cafes around Patong in case you need a cold fresh drink or coffee to cool you down from the hot sun. You can also get some booze in the Patong area, where pubs and bars are located at a popular night hotspot in Bangla Road.

Guess I don’t need to do anymore introduction if you have already been to Patong. Let’s get straight to the point.

First Day – Relaxing Time in Patong

Back to our first-day trip, we went straight to check out Patong beach which was just a walking distance from our resort. As we hanging out at the beach for a smoke, a tour guide approached us. As we can’t deny with the cheapest price offered by the tour guide, we quickly agreed and get tour ride to a few attractions in Phuket such as gun shooting, ATV tour ride and a visit to Big Buddha Phuket.

We were so hungry so we decided to take lunch at a food court. The food court is quickly packed at night, where you can find a variety of food including crocodile meat, burgers, mango sticky rice, fruit drinks and many more.

Our resort is located just in front of the main road towards Patong Beach. There are things to do in Patong Beach such as a picnic, tanning, relax, jetski and many more. After an exhausting day, you can cross the road to get a cold beer! I skipped Patong Beach as we are going to Phi Phi.

For sightseeing and beautiful beaches, you have to get to Phi Phi Island to really enjoy the amazing beach view but for a price. I have visited a few best sightseeing in Hua Hin Thailand during my latest Hua Hin travel review.

I had terrible night sleeping thanks to the sound pollution and blasting top hits music from the heavily equipped car sound systems tuk-tuk and also those motorbike’s exhaust sound, it was so annoying. Duh, it’s really terrible when you stay in a room facing the busy main road.

On the first night, we all headed out from our resort looking for dinner. We had our seafood dinner just nearby our hotel. Right after dinner, of course, the most popular thing to do in Patong is massage! Guess this is my first time to get the foot massage. Wow, there are many many massage parlours in Patong too.

Then after the foot massage, I went back to the resort lobby for AOV session with my friends. I can say AOV gaming sessions was my day and night gaming session during the 4 days stay in Patong. Even the staff the lobby was asking us if we were playing AOV. lol.

The Wifi connection not so good in the room as I will get disconnected or unable to connect, the best was to hang out and play AOV in the lobby!

Phuket is also popular with Thai Boxing, there was one time while walking ban ack to the resort, there was a Thai Boxing advertisement car making the announcement for an upcoming Thai boxing match, driving slowly next to us. I felt like dancing with the Muay Thai stance.

‘You See Thai Boxing, You See Thailand‘… Lol, I guess that was what I’ve heard from the announcement.

Guess it was a big match at Bangla Boxing Stadium Patong, they announced almost every day, including posters everywhere around the city. I actually have a moment of thought to join Muay Thai classes once I’m back to KL.

#Travel Tips: Due to the hot scorching sun, you might get heatstroke and headache. You can buy Peppermint Inhaler (cost about 24 Baht) for standby just in case and it’s available at 7-Eleven, Family Mart and other sidewalk shops in Patong.

Day 2 – Speedboat Ride to Phi Phi Island

The second day, I woke up early at 8.30am headed for breakfast. Then I waited for the tour driver to arrive as I’m heading to some beautiful island in Phuket.

Reached Phi Phi Island on a bumpy speedboat which took 1 hour to reach the popular island destination. I get to tour around the island from one place to another on the speedboat. When reached Phi Phi Island, it was like entering another world of paradise with crystal clear, blue-green seawater. The view is amazing.

I was out from morning until the evening and exhausted. I returned to the resort at 6pm. Really time-consuming tour but I get to enjoy the amazing views and sightseeing around Phi Phi Island.

Guess we are the four monkeys on the beach

Our group are advised by the tour guide not to feed the monkeys, I mean those real monkeys on Monkey Beach. They’ll snatch things.

Too bad I didn’t get the chance to visit the popular Bangla Road where there are many nightclubs, bars and discos that I had heard words from mouth to mouth. It is a walking distance from the resort I’m staying but I didn’t make it due to the laziness of walking far and we all are not consuming any alcohol. I didn’t get to ride on those fucking noisy tuk-tuk as well. At night, it was AOV sessions again.

We had dinner at the same seafood stall… again. It’s really Eat, Play, Sleep & Repeat in Patong!

Day 3 – ATV Adventure

Each journey out of Patong city to another place of attractions really takes a long time to arrive. It took about an hour to reach the place (no idea what’s the name) where you can play extreme activities such as ATV / Buggy ride, elephant ride, zip line in Phuket. The third day is a fun outing day where I get to ride on ATV on bumpy offroad all the way up to Big Buddha in Phuket. At the top, you can get the surrounding view of Phuket Island. I then have to ride the ATV all the back downhill. It was fun but my right thumb hurts like hell. You got to try ATV for 1800 Baht and you’ll know why.

Going on a holiday trip with friends is more fun and have time to relax than my previous trip to Bintan. I can go anywhere I like. Do anything I want. It’s Freedom.

After that, I took lunch at best kept secret seafood restaurant in Phuket. While eating, I discovered some new music and that was luk thung, Thai country music! Do check out the songs I’ve grabbed with SoundHound. Really give you the ‘Thai culture feeling‘ while eating seafood by sea.

Then we informed our tour guide to drop us at Thanon Ratuthut Songproipi Road and took a walk from there as we explore the area ourselves. We headed to Jungceylon Shopping Mall for window shopping. There are many many things to do here, from shopping, eating and drinking.

During my third and fourth day holiday in Phuket, I was stoned and stumbled upon something running in my mind and said that I am actually quite lucky and there are not many people who might be so lucky or having a good life like us or me. Just my 2cents and I’ll keep it short. Sometimes it doesn’t mean you will have more experience in life. Some might not be so lucky, what they had gone through might be more than you or me. Is this the right way to describe? lol. Well, that’s life. So, start helping others who might be in need.

4th Day – Get Back to the Real World

Checked out on the 4th day at 12pm and tipped off 40 Baht for room keeping. Didn’t inform but yeah I did put the 40 Baht on my room’s table desk as tips. This is the way to show gratitude and a sign of thank you for the room keeper and actually I’m not sure what happened with the 40 baht hopefully the room keeper is smart enough as I did’t write any message on paper. LOL.

Phew… I relaxed the whole half-day at the lobby again for AOV. Man, just can’t get enough of it. Since we are leaving from our resort to the airport, we all took a short break at a cafe while waiting for time to past and taxi to arrive. I spent the rest of the day at the airport and then back to the real world at 1am after 4 days of eating hard and play AOV during my holiday trip in Phuket.

Now I’m back to KL, I felt like a Muay Thai fighter, I got darker and tanned due to sunburn. Forgot to put on sunblock on my face. LOL.

It’s good to be back in Thailand. We planned our trip to Hua Hin 5 months ago and finally, the day has come. My friends and I are there for holiday and getaway from the heavy work hectic, probably to laidback, chill and relax, in Cantonese we called it as 嘢 (pronounced as ‘hea‘ or ‘h-eh‘).

Whenever we go travel, like our previous trip to Phuket, we always make an early booking to avoid complication, expensive airfares & hiking room prices.

There are many other attractions and sightseeing in Hua Hin but we are only able to visit 5 places during our 5 days trip in Hua Hin. All will be revealed in the journal after the jump.

Grilled Pork Rib – Food Hunting at Tamarind Market Hua Hin

In Hua Hin, the most popular things to do here is food hunting. There are many night markets and food bazaars in the city. Cicada Market and Tamarind Market are among the most visited market if you are going for dinner or supper, both are located next to each other.

We actually preferred the foods from Tamarind Market rather than Cicada Market because of overpriced foods and the food taste so-so.

When the night gets dark, many foreigners and traveller’s who are looking for drinks head to Soi Bintabaht Hua Hin Walking Street, one of the Hua Hin most popular nightlife district. The beer is pretty cheap here.

5 Days 4 Nights @ Chalelarn Hotel Hua Hin

Chalelarn Hotel Hua Hin is a great hotel in the city with amazing interior design and architecture giving an authentic Thai feel. I’m feeling so comfortable with my large hotel room although I don’t spend much time in the room. There is a sofa to lay down and relax while enjoying the amazing sea view.

We stayed there for 5 days 4 nights and are very satisfied with the strategic location because it is so convenient and can easily access to 7-11 & Family Mart which takes just a few walks. I don’t have to worry much because I can get drinks & snacks anytime I want.

Chalelarn Hotel is also central to night markets, shopping malls, food stalls, restaurants and bars. It takes about 15 minutes to walk to Soi Bintabaht and can have unlimited access to beers & cocktails.

Let’s get started with my 5 days 4 nights journey of chillax trip at Hua Hin, Thailand.

Day 1 – Exploring Hua Hin

We reached Hua Hin airport at about 11.20am and quickly booked a van to our hotel in Hua Hin, Chalelarn Hotel. It is a bargain with just 400baht, we get to sit on a luxury van and it’s a pretty pimped up van actually especially the luxury interior and in-car entertainment system.

We checked in at Chalelarn Hotel, put all our bags & luggage in our room and then headed straight to a food stall opposite our hotel and had our first lunch in Hua Hin. After having lunch, we went back to the hotel to check out the rooftop swimming pool and chill area. The view at the rooftop at Chalelarn Hotel is breathtaking, giving an amazing view of Hua Hin town and the beach.

With muscle feeling a bit stiff, I then went for an authentic Thai massage just next to the hotel. I have to wear oversized clothes. The massaging technique is very relaxing and the Thai girl who is massaging me is pretty but lack of strength. Thai massage cost about 200 baht.

Then we all headed back to the room for rest, and watch Batman Returns on TV. At about 7.30pm, we have a break at the hotel lobby and then got on a tuk tuk for BBQ buffet dinner.

Heading to Hua Hin’s most popular nightlife district – Soi Bintabaht Walking Street

After dinner at about 10pm, we headed to Soi Bintabaht Hua Hin for a short drink. I ordered the wrong drink for myself, Long Island Tea cost about 200baht++ which is expensive compared to other cocktails. We call it a night and back to the hotel. I was so tired, have a quick bath and load up my sleep playlist and go to bed. I have a good sleep in my hotel room because of the peaceful environment, 0% noise pollution.

Day 2 – Sightseeing in Hua Hin

If you think there is nothing to do in Hua Hin, you’re totally wrong. There are plenty of activities, sightseeing and things to do in Hua Hin. The one day trip to attractions here is quite familiar with the one in Phuket. Some location will take a couple of minutes, some might even take a few hours to reach, make sure to ask for a tour guide or the hotel receptionist.

We quickly planned for one day trip to 5 attractions and outdoor activities. This includes a visit to Hua Hin Railway Station, Pineapple Club, The Venezia Hua Hin, Khao Luang Cave and an unnamed flee market in Phetchaburi.

Khao Luang Cave

A cave located at Khao Luang Cave Phetchaburi with the temple in the cave. There are Buddha statues and praying avatar once you reached the base of the cave. The cave is great for photo shooting and selfie. There are other caves in Hua Hin but Khao Luang cave is just an hour journey from Hua Hin, while other caves like Phraya Nakhon Cave, Kaeo Cave takes a few hours to travel, so we skipped it.

The Venezia Hua Hin

Venezia is a Venice theme small amusement park and attraction to visit in Hua Hin and probably worth listed in your one-day trip plan. You will need tickets to enter the place. There are many activities which are suitable for children and adults such as the gondola, 3D gallery, upside down gallery and many more.

I had a lot of fun and we spend about an hour and a half exploring Venezia.

Pineapple Club Shopping Area

I’m not sure if the name Pineapple Club is correct but here you can shop from anything from souvenirs, clothes and eating out. I bought one T-shirt for just 80baht at the shop here and the price is pretty reasonable and cheap.

After visiting all the sightseeing location, we headed to the Tamarind Market for dinner. The concept here is similar to the one in Malaysia but with better quality, find a place to sit, and then order the food.

Tamarind Market

There are a lot of foods, drinks and deserts plus live music performance singing in English and Thai. A great place to have dinner and supper while relaxing.

Tamarind gets crowded on Saturday night as many tourists and the locals came here to have a fast grab of good food.

After the dinner, it’s night time and we head over again at one of the bars at Soi Bintabaht for a drink or two. The next day is the most exciting day of all during our stay here in Hua Hin.

Day 3 – Offroad Adventure @ Siam Milsim

We actually booked for ATV ride and airsoft shooting at Siam Milsim (known as Siam Military Simulation). The staffs there are very friendly and helpful. For about 2800 baht, we get to ride a Can-Am 1000cc ATV. That is the most powerful ATV I’ve ever ride since Phuket.

With 6 ATVs, we headed for an offroad adventure at the Rocky Mountain, where we have to go through hard terrain. It was a pretty bumpy ride but an amazing experience. After the offroad adventure, we headed back to Siam Milsim, took a short break and then started the Airsoft Shooting.

I was too tired. I took a rest at the hotel to level my new Ragnarok M Archer/Hunter while others went for a walk at the shopping mall. The WiFi connection is pretty bad in the room as it keeps disconnecting, I have trouble doing my leveling up routine for my new Ragnarok M character.

Dinner at Cicada Market, food was so so some really unpolite and lazy foreigner but at least he said ‘excuse me’. We took a walk at Hua Hin Market but it’s nothing much to see here.

Seems like the night is getting late, we headed to Panama Club, in Soi for short drink. Panama Club in Hua Hin is actually an open-air club with a DJ spinning Tribal House, which suits the bar name and environment. We had a 5 minutes drink and then headed back to the hotel to chill out the night at the rooftop.

I was levelling my character again with 2 mobile phones this time. It was pretty fast from level 1 – 45++ with a mentor, keep consuming potions and completing all the main quests.

Bar hopping in nightlife district such in Hua Hin is recommended here if you want to explore those pubs and bars. I can see a lot of foreigners accompanied by girls either sitting at the bar or walking back to the hotel. Well, the story after that is none of my business. LOL.

Day 4 – Free & Easy

Day 1 Flashback – Taking break with an iced cold banana icecream at Swensen’s in Hua Hin

It was a free and easy day, we actually accomplished all our activities and nothing much to do and just to chill and relax. The hotel WiFi connection was bad when more people are using it.

Nothing much going on on the 4th day, we decided to rent a scooter from bike rental in Hua Hin. We explored around Hua Hin for food and later head to our last location, the jetty.

It is so convenient staying at Chalelarn Hotel Hua Hin because they provide all the services, anything you need from airport transfers, tour attractions to bike & car rental. Just head over the counter and ask the receptionist.

Day 5 Back To Real World

Probably the last day at Hua Hin and get ready at 8am at Chalelarn Hotel lobby and waited for our transfer to Hua Hin airport. Hotel to airport transfer cost about 400 baht which is cheap, the price might change without notice.

We reached Kuala Lumpur early at about 2.10pm, have our lunch at KLIA2, smoke and headed back home in a taxi, back to the real world.

Overall travel expenses for my 5 days 4 nights to Hua Hin is 7000baht.

Whenever we go travel, like our previous trip to Phuket, we always make an early booking to avoid complication, expensive airfares & hiking room prices.

There are many other attractions and sightseeing in Hua Hin but we are only able to visit 5 places during our 5 days trip in Hua Hin. All will be revealed in the journal after the jump.

We actually preferred the foods from Tamarind Market rather than Cicada Market because of overpriced foods and the food taste so-so.

5 Days 4 Nights @ Chalelarn Hotel Hua Hin

Let’s get started with my 5 days 4 nights journey of chillax trip at Hua Hin, Thailand.

Day 1 – Exploring Hua Hin

Then we all headed back to the room for rest, and watch Batman Returns on TV. At about 7.30pm, we have a break at the hotel lobby and then got on a tuk tuk for BBQ buffet dinner.

Day 2 – Sightseeing in Hua Hin

I had a lot of fun and we spend about an hour and a half exploring Venezia.
