One the art amazing two umm what the differences again between wwf and Memphis eras
Thank you! <3
*cracks knuckles* i hope you're ready lol
Memphis Jimmy:
Much more wild. Constantly getting into fights whether in the ring or out
Actually wrestles! And not just normal matches - he's been in handcuffs, too. Unfortunately more injuries here, too, such as the broken jaw
He's been shoved, tar'd, feather'd, ate dog food...
The amount of tricks he pulls is insane. There's the fake death of a tag team to announce the new tag team which is ... half of the same team. Shenanigans with Lance Russel AND poking fun at the Fabulous Ones in the same song. Manufacturing ways to give title belts to his own men. Faking injuries... list goes on
The way he speaks is different too - faster, more aggressive. Lot more "I'm gonna kill you" talk
He still comically runs when he's in trouble, but not without getting a hit or two in first... or several
Clothes are completely different. Beyond the track suits he has in the beginning, it transitions to more elegant suits and top hats
A cane is his weapon of choice. Sometimes its striped like a candy cane... he breaks it about every other week because he keeps whacking people with it
Much more cunning and rogue-ish. The Joker to Lawler's Batman. Or the Lex Luthor to Lawler's Superman. He's hiring a new man every week to take him down
This is a strange point that I'm only noticing now as I'm typing - he mentions how beautiful and handsome he is far more frequently in Memphis than in WWF. He boasts his talent AND beauty here
Frequently does not wear glasses
WWF Jimmy:
The "Saturday Morning Cartoon" version of Memphis Jimmy
Much more light hearted and fun
The "killer" talk is completely gone, replaced with more family friendly "We're gonna get you" wording
Frequently calms down his wrestlers, rather than the other way around. He still has his fits sometimes, but they're more yappy than anything.
Instead of being a trickster in promos, he solely keeps it to the ring, and this usually is done with master distractions and smooth throwing of the megaphone. There's other oddball instances such as hiding under the ring for a 20 man match... and won
Clothing ranges from the early years of hearts, colors, and patterns (what he could find at Kmart lol) to the later years with the fancy airbrush suits. Glasses are 90% of the time worn, either the aviators or the piano glasses
Very, very rarely gets into the ring. Also gets tossed a lot more here than in Memphis... (Most likely due to age. He starts WWF at age 41.)
I think the most intense storyline I've seen (so far) with WWF Jimmy is JYD ripping off his pants and being branded. Beyond that, he's pretty safe. Gets knocked out once or twice... is put in a cage once... not terribly bad.
Boasts his singing and managerial talent, not his face lol
Megaphone is of course the weapon of choice here
Both however are still incredibly supportive of their own men and are completely full of themselves. Silly beans. Can never sit still. Smiley happy until something goes awry.
Edit: I forgot his voice difference omg how. Memphis Jimmy stays more in his natural, deeper tone, while WWF tends to shift higher. Both still will absolutely crack tho when too emotional hehe. Its really endearing to me when he breaks character for a moment and drops into the caring, natural tone during WWF.
