👀 Post your tswift rant tbh I'm here for cranky and I'm interested in other people's takes cause that was a Lot™ and it felt so disingenuous
Yeah sure here’s the whole thing
1. First of all this whole thing is just the white straight girl’s fantasy of queer/poc/drag culture and the people involved in those cultures
2. I hate it when rich people take the trailer park / poverty aesthetic and make it cutesy. Its so annoying to me.
3. Sticking all the gays in a trailer park on the edge of society? makes me uncomfy. Felt Like equating the gays with trailer trash in a way. And I think maybe she meant it to be like a gay safe haven from the rest of the world? But it just Emphasizes how we’re outsiders and it just makes me feel icky. (And would be totally be different if it was queer people creating that space and not a straight girls fantasy, for the record)
4. Like why couldn’t it have been cottages or houses like why did it have to be trailers
5. ~tEa TiMe WiTh ThE GaYs~ shut up
6. I know I’ve kind of already said this but The whole thing looked and felt like a straight persons idea of what queer culture is! It was so fake! Not a single part of it stood out to me as actual gay culture. It was just a straight fantasy
7. I get so annoyed with straight people who are like “Love is Love! Be proud of your body! :)” shut the hell up
8. Taylor trying to dress like a gay black man (like seriously her outfits were so ridiculous)
9. Parading around Queer Celebrities like they’re props
10. And yet still not enough Hayley Kiyoko time!
11. Oh my god I’m so sick of this idea that if you’re gonna show the happy gays you gotta show the angry protestors on the other side?? Like if you’re truly creating a gay haven for us in the video and WITHIN THE VIDEO ITSELf don’t fucking remind me how much people want to kill me! Those angry protestors are a triggering reality! And I feel like an argument she’s trying to make is like “Well the Straights watching it might need to know how bad it is and look how cute it is that we’re sunbathing and ignoring the protestors” but see: I don’t care. I don’t want to see it. It makes me sick.
12. So like the whole time it’s been about gay gay gay gay gay and at the end the gays get into a food fight and Taylor and Katy Perry are the food? I get that she maybe made it that way bc of all their Twitter fueds or whatever but you can’t switch from a whole music video about gay people to like your str8 drama because my mind was still in the gay theme and it just felt like “oh the gays are gonna fight but we’re just the ammo” or something I DONT REALLY KNOW IT JUST PISSED ME OFF
13. ALSO INCLUDING KATY “I KISSED A GIRL AND I LIKED IT” PERRY MADE ME MAD. GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE WITH THAT SHIT
14. ALSO like it’s been queer celebrities queer celebrities queer celebrities and then Ryan Reynolds painting it from the outside? I literally don’t know what the point of that was other than to be like the straights watching from afar. An outsiders persepective? Like all it did was remind me once again that we’re just outsiders and everyone wants to watch those silly gays!! Literally what was the point
15. “Write your sentators” Idk why that whole thing annoys me probs bc she’s gonna get so many woke credits for that and probs bc if she actually wanted to do some good how about you encourage people to donate to actual LGBT organizations if we all just live in TrAiLeRs apparently Jesus fuck
16. The target audience of the video isn’t queer people. it’s straight people who want to feel good about themselves and gain their woke points

What in the good grief is Julie and the Phantoms about? Are there ghosts?? I think there are?? Help
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
I hope this helped you to understand the most Wholesome Content Ever Produced that is Julie and the Himbos Phantoms
(Image Description below the cut)
[Start Image Descriptions]
A ten image slideshow describing different characters and elements of the show ‘Julie and the Phantoms’
1) Title slide with text that reads ‘Julie and the Phantoms! What the fuck is it about! Singing? Ghosts?? Himbos??? Singing Ghost Himbos????‘ Surrounding the text are images of the main characters singing together.
2) Slide titled ‘Okay so to start off: This is Julie Molina’ There are four images of Julie, a puerto rican teenager with long curly hair. She is shown singing in a variety of colorful outfits. The text on the slide is a list which reads:
She’s the best
Also the prettiest
Fashion Sense out of this world
Controls the braincell 100% of the time
A kickass  singer
Look at her she’s great you love her yes you do
Not a ghost she’s a high school student
She’s doesn’t want to do high school, she just wants to sing. And she’s valid because she is very good at singing. If only she had a band of emotional support himbos to sing with. Oh, woe.
3) Slide titled ‘Wait!! This is Flynn, aka emergency brain cell holder‘ There are three images of Julie’s best friend Flynn, a black teenager with very long hair in tight box braids. In the images she is shown DJing, talking to Julie and listening to a song Julie wrote for her. The text on the slide reads:
She’s Julie’s best friend
Very good at her job
Also a DJ
Also very good at this
Just generally a 10 unafraid to call other 10s out when they’re dumb
Deserves to be canonized for putting up with just literally so much
She is mostly important because her friendship with Julie is one of the emotional rocks of the show and I think that’s just really important
4) Slide titled ‘This is Alex, Luke, and Reggie‘ There are three images of Alex, Luke, and Reggie in a variety of silly poses or making silly faces. Alex is a white teenager with medium blond hair and blue eyes whose fashion sense consists mostly of a torn jean jacket and pink hoodie with jeans. Reggie is a white teen with slicked back dark hair and eyes dressed in a typical punk outfit, black leather jacket and jeans, and red and black plaid shirt. Luke is a white teenager with mid length brown hair and eyes dressed in sleeveless shirts and jeans. The text on the slide reads:
Oh look, a band made entirely of emotional support himbos
Not a single brain cell between them
Director saw the 2016 Ghostbusters and went ‘Chris Hemsworth’s character but three of them’
They died because they ate bad hot dogs on the night they     were supposed to play a gig that was going to change their lives and then came back as ghosts bc they have unfinished business
They’re so dumb oh my god they’re so dumb
The capacity for love between these three and Julie is literally the most wholesome thing in contemporary media no I will not be taking criticism on this
5) Slide titled ‘Alex gets his own slide because I love him‘. On the slide are images of Alex signing and playing the drums, dancing, and having a serious conversation with his love interest Willie, who is a teenager with mid-tone brown skin and long black hair tied up in a bun. Alex is dressed in his customary jean jacket and pink hoodie. Text on the slide reads:
One thought and it is ‘Gay’
Alex cried for twenty five years while the band was in limbo
Correction two thoughts ‘Gay’ and ‘Anxious’
Purest ray of sunshine
I would steal his jean jacket but then he would be sad and that is illegal
Loves his skater boyfriend a lot
‘Willie and I? - Well I wouldn’t call it magic but I mean...’
He’s so dumb I love him a normal amount
6) Slide titled ‘Reggie also gets his own slide because I love him too‘ On the slide are images of Reggie singing and playing the electric guitar, smiling, and dancing. He is wearing a variation of his black leather jacket with red and black plaid and black jeans. Text on the slide reads:
Zero thoughts not a single one
Put all his stat points into pop-punk fashion
Is doing a great job
You know that one friend who everyone wonders how they make it out of their house in the morning without detailed instructions
My most precious son
Brain probably just a Paramore song on repeat
7) Slide titled ‘Luke gets his own slide otherwise Laynie will block me‘ On the slide are images of Luke singing and playing the electric guitar, smiling, and looking confused. He is wearing a variety of sleeveless jacket and t shirt combinations with rock band logos on the tshirts. Text on the slide reads:
The gender envy of lesbians everywhere
Thinks Julie Molina is the best person in the world (and he’s right)
Wrote a sad song once it was very sad many feelings eyes full of tears we all cried
Guns are out whether or not the sun is out
Pure of heart dumb of everywhere
Looks like he would be the token straight except there are none of those in this show
8) Slide titled ‘Willie‘ with five hearts in rainbow colors after his name. Images on the slide are of Willie with a skateboard and helmet, in a stylized tux looking fondly at Alex, and two additional images looking off camera. Text on the slide reads:
Alex’s ghost boyfriend
Chaotic child let loose on the streets of LA
A perfect angel, his idea of a good time is harassing cops
Just generally a sweetheart whom I love with my whole being
Holding out for a himbo
Helps his himbo boyfriend through his panic attacks
Sometimes screaming in a museum is something that can be so personal
Only nice things happen to Willie
Gentle reminder I would die and/or kill for Willie
9) Slide titled: ‘But wait is there a plot what’s going on’ There are two images, one of Reggie, Luke, and Alex eating hot dogs on a ratty couch and one of them standing behind Julie as she plays the piano backlit by the sunset in a sunroom filled with plants. Text on the slide reads:
25 years ago a band named Sunset Curve was set to become the next big thing. Just before their breakout show, three of the members die from a bad pre-show meal and spend the next 25 years trying to figure out how to leave a bad Yelp review from limbo.
Himbos in limbo, if you will.
Enter Julie, who lives in the house the band used to rehearse in. Julie is struggling to find her passion for music again after her mother’s death, until one night she summons our three favorite emotional support himbos by listening to an old CD of theirs.
Shenanigans ensue and everyone is dumb. Luke Alex and Reggie are trying to figure out what their unfinished business is as Julie navigates healing, friendships with ghosts, and trying to be a star.
 10) Slide titled ‘Why you should watch JATP‘ There are two images on the slide, on of Luke singing and one of Julie and Flynn smiling snarkily. Text on the slide reads:
Seriously did you pay attention to slides 1-8 look at everyone
It’s directed by Kenny Ortega who directed Newsies and like other things(he did High School Musical and Descendants but like the most important thing is he directed Newsies)
Also the music fucking slaps like it’s actually really good
Even though it’s technically a kids show there’s like?? Some really touching pltolines but also it’s so dumb the guys die from eating hot dogs for fuck’s sake
Literally the most wholesome thing that has ever been made
Basically it’s a stupid fun show that is mostly lighthearted but also has some *kickass* catharsis and really intricately thought out characters that skirt the line between being so dumb I literally shrieked but also real enough that their problems seemed real.

Searching Truth
Chapter One: Fired!
The room was buzzing that chilling morning. Men and women speaking softly about what they were writing about, but as not in too much details so nothing could ever get stolen. Clicking of keyboards echoed in the rather large room, taping of feet walking around to get where they are going, ringing of phones everywhere. It was a busy day, their due almost coming causing them to work a little bit harder. Oh, how she wish she was among them all. She rather be out there stressing unnecessarily than being seated in her bosses’, Mr. Derby, office with him jumping down her throat for yet another article that she did recently.
Her eyes stay glued out through the window, watching all her coworkers running around franticly. Listening to all the muffled sounds that came from the closed door. Besides that, the room was filled with a man’s grievance of needing to keep this business a float. Mr. Derby ranted for fifteen minutes about her negligence of popular media streams and that she needed to get a better story than the ones she’s been doing since she got here. But what was the point if she couldn’t print out all that happens in the night? The people that lurk out only causing chaos to other people.
“We need more viewers to our brand, Laynie. No one doesn’t need you playing detective.” He told her harshly, his voice deep and gruf. He sat in his chair, leaned against the old desk. The light from both the window and the light in the ceiling caused a glare in his glass. A glow bouncing off his dark skin. Laynie rolled her eyes at his words, feeling her blood boil with anger. She knew red was creeping across her face, she didn’t have to look in a mirror to know this.
“People deserve to know the truth, boss.” She responded just as harshly to him, turning her head to him with cold eyes. “And I’ll keep giving them what they need to know to keep them safe.” He heaved a tired sigh. This response was not new, but weighing its annoyance heavily on his shoulders. The old man had took his glasses off, rubbing his eyes a bit hard. Uncomfortable, Laynie thought to herself while watching him start to lose more patients with her. She could tell that he was at his wits end of her putting out the crime reporting and digging up activity that happened in certain areas of Gotham.
Mr. Derby stood up from behind the wooden desk adjusting the worn suit a bit before proceeding move around it. Placing himself a bit closer to her as he sat on top of the large desk that was littered with papers and folders.
“What they need is a peace of mind. Uncovering the things that this Batman does in the night doesn’t give them that.” He spoke to her a bit more softly. Hope in his voice that she understood him. Hoping that she would listen to him to keep herself alive. Especially since there’s not a lot to know about the mask vigilante, other than he fights the criminals during the night. He didn’t need her involve in something that he couldn’t very well trust or understand.
Laynie had heard her father’s words echoing in her mind. ‘You can’t find peace until you know there are problems to begin with.’ Of course she had thought it was silly when she was a child. Now though, now that she dug up more of every gang and criminal in this city, there no such thing like peace here. There never will be if people keep ignoring it, or being naïve that there isn’t a problem at all.
Laynie held his stare for a bit longer, not wanting to back down from this. She couldn’t agree with him at all. There was no peace in this city that she loves, and barely anyone who wasn’t living in the dumps had no idea what was going on in the dark. And barely any news cast covered it. She felt that the people had to know what else that was going on. Everything she could find and put out there.
The noise outside grew louder some, a bit of an argument circling among a few people. It didn’t take long for it to settle down. More typing, banging on metal desk now occurring amongst the crowd outside. The
“I disagree, boss.” Her voice went colder then before. Another minute of silence from both of them. His eyes drawing in disappointment at the reply she gave. He knew she would say that, knew her all too well. God have mercy on him moving forward with this. The solemn gaze to her way brought confusion to her.
“Then Laynie. You given no chose now.” With that said, he stood on his feet. Back straight, arms crossed. The suit now showing just how much he worn it. The bit of threads popping out, the material looked it was ready to collapse on itself any given moment. She brought her head up, narrowing her eyes with suspicions. What was Mr. Derby planning now? “If you don’t do this interview, I will have to let you go.” He warned her.
Laynie froze at this, honestly she didn’t see this coming at all. “You’ll fire me?” She spoke breathlessly. It hurt. Having a man she knew since she was a kid tell her this. “What the hell?” In a fit of hot blood temper, she also stood. Shoulders stiff with that anticipation he set out. Heart racing with worry, eyes spiking suddenly. Mr. Derby had placed a hand on her shoulder to her reaction. Wanting her to calm down.
“I’ve told you time and time again. You know your place here. And I am expecting no less than that. If you refuse, than I’m sorry. I have to fire you.” His voice assertive, but in a soothing tone. One she use to hear at a young age. Use to it was because she would run up and down the hallways, almost running into people in the process. Her father of course got on to her, but it was Mr. Derby’s stern eyes and assertive voice that caused her to listen. She felt like a child again, and she hated every moment of it.
Laynie took in a deep breath then. Soon, she was looking away from him. A bit of bitterness towards this old man now that he was punishing for what she was passionate about. A few people started to leave for their lunch through the window. She really longed to go with them right now. Having to pull on her hair when writers block came, drinking ten cans of red bull to stay up through the night to finish her article or investigating a new lead for her life’s work. Having him threaten her only income just stung so bad.
Finally, after moments of trying to keep from crying a bit and losing her temper, she faced him. Heaving a sigh, “Alright fine. I’ll do this damn interview.” Her boss smiled at her. It made her stomach twist unpleasantly. “Who am I interviewing?” She questioned him.
“Ah!” He went back around his desk, taking a seat in the big rolling chair. Doing a small dance of success that she was finally listening to him. Opposite of what she felt in that moment. Laynie stayed where she stood, folding her arms rather tightly. This was not what she wanted at all. It felt wrong. Laynie felt a little betrayed in that small moment. What happened to the man that wanted her to live out what she was passionate about doing? Now, all she saw was a stranger before her.
Mr., Derby heaved a sigh, leaning back like any old men out there. “You’ll be interviewing Bruce Wayne.” The answer was not what she wanted. It was bad enough that she was doing a stupid worthless interview. But with that guy? Laynie knew there was enough information and gossip about that guy. Whether they were true or not.
She groaned lightly, rolling her eyes to show her displeasure at the situation he put her in. “Don’t you think there’s enough 'peace of mind’ about that guy?” She questioned again, annoyed. The reaction causing him to grin gleefully.
“No.” He put it simply. Of course he wouldn’t, she thought. “You’ll be at his office tomorrow at 12.” Laynie nodded her head to him before leaving the small area. Mr. Derby had started typing away on his computer. She stopped in her tracks once the door closed behind her, glazing over people’s heads with a heavy heart. They were busy, like every day. Lucky them for not having to deal what she had to deal with. Her thoughts ran a bit wild while at what she needed to interview him. Her boss never told her what she needed to question him about.
That was when a grin appeared on her face. The mischievous glint in her eyes. Maybe she could take some creative liberties for her old boss. She almost felt like laughing evilly to herself at her plan. Laynie walked off to her little cuticle, cracking her knuckles as she went off in the internet to research Bruce Wayne.

NOVA Pro Wrestling Announces First Round Matches For Women's Commonwealth Cup
On June 9th, 2018 eight women will assemble to battle it out at NOVA Pro Wrestling Women’s Commonwealth Cup at the Annandale Volunteer Fire Department in Annandale, Virginia.
Yesterday the first round matches of the tournament were officially unveiled on Twitter:
Mia Yim vs Faye Jackson
Rachael Ellering vs Jordynne Grace
Allie Kat vs Veda Scott
Angelus Layne vs Chelsea Green
The first round match pitting Mia Yim against Faye Jackson was announced during NOVA Pro’s “Rip Her To Shreds” all-female event in March. After Faye Jackson defeated Terra Calaway to qualify for the tournament a returning Mia Yim came out to celebrate with her and challenged her to a friendly match for the tournament. This will mark Mia Yim’s return match in NOVA Pro after suffering an injury during a five on five tag match at “11th Dimension”. Both Mia Yim and Faye Jackson are beloved by the fans at NOVA Pro. Since coming to NOVA Faye has unequivocally become the fan favorite and has continued to prove herself each and every time she steps in between the squared circle. Will the mentor or protege come out with the win?
Jordynne Grace has been making an impact at NOVA since she debuted for the company back in 2017 facing off against the likes of Allie Kat, Christi Jaynes, Veda Scott, Shazza McKenzie, and even Fred Yehi capturing the admiration of the fans. She qualified for the Commonwealth Cup after defeating Isla Dawn and Laynie Luck at Cupid’s Chokehold in February which has kicked off a little winning streak for her in NOVA. She is no stranger to competing in tournaments having wrestled in the Making Towns Classic, CWA Raven Black Memorial Tournament, Black Label Pro BLP Title Tournament, SHINE Wrestling NOVA Title Tournament, and Wrestling Revolution Tournament For Tomorrow tournament (which she won)  all within a year. Her opponent will be Rachael Ellering, who last time was at NOVA had an intense match against Angelus Layne that spilled out all over the arena and saw Layne score the win. She’ll be looking to return and score a big win here.
Another first-round match will see Allie Kat take on the one everyone loves to hate, Veda Scott. Allie Kat defeated Solo Darling earlier this month to qualify for the tournament. If you remember Veda Scott and Allie Kat teamed together during Allie’s first match at NOVA and Allie Kat was the one who scored the win for Team Veda over Team Faye at 11th Dimension. Veda Scott, on the other hand, defeated the debuting FaceBrooke and Jordan Blade in a three-way battle to qualify for the tournament. After traveling around the world wrestling all over Canada and Europe for companies such as WXW, Kamikaze Pro, GWF, Rev Pro, and more Veda is looking to score a huge win here at the women’s commonwealth cup.
Photo Courtesy of NOVA Pro Wrestling
The final first round match of the tournament has been announced as Angelus Layne taking on the debuting Chelsea Green. Angelus is arguably the top talent in NOVA Pro having defeated the likes of Rain, Jordynne Grace, Rachael Ellering, and Penelope Ford. She has also taken on Keith Lee and Mia Yim in singles action. Theirs a reason why Angelus Layne was chosen as one of our ones to watch this year. Not only does she have an incredible track record at NOVA, but she also called out Mike E. King, and upon him coming out Angelus hit him with an actual fireball before being chased out by the NOVA pro locker room and I mean, how could you not take notice of her after doing something like that? The debuting Chelsea Green will have a tough task ahead of her facing Layne, but if anyone can score a win over her it’s Chelsea. Having left IMPACT earlier this year Green has been on fire appearing at seemingly every important independent wrestling event this year – even getting announced as a part of the ‘All In’ event that will take place in September. Will Angelus continue to reign supreme or will the Hot Mess Express find a way to outsmart her?
Be a part of the NOVA Pro Wrestling Commonwealth Cup weekend on June 8th and June 9th in Annandale, VA! Tickets are available to purchase here.

Toby Stephens Thirstography #1 - Black Sails (2014-2017)
Toby Stephens Hotness: The Pre-Chorus Of Uptown Funk Was Written About Toby Stephens In Black Sails
Okay, so I dithered about this rating for SO LONG but honestly? Nothing else in Toby’s filmography will ever be close to Black Sails. As I’m sure everyone is aware, Toby Stephens is perfect but it’s especially true in Black Sails. Long haired McGraw? Perfect. Bald and Beardy? Perfect. Ponytail Season 1 Flint crying about his (as yet unrevealed) gay lover? Absolutely Flawless. THIGHS? Could crush a skull like sparrows egg. Frequently shirtless and covered in freckles? My soul has left my body. Need I go on? Just watch Black Sails.
This really is hands down the best role Toby has ever had, and there’s a little bit of something for everyone. I wouldn’t necessarily say this is “the hottest” Toby Stephens but it is the one that has the most range, and screen time, and like, whatever your thirst, Black Sails has a look for that. And so many emotions. This is one of those times where quantity really does win over quality. If you’re only going to watch one thing with Toby Stephens in it, Black Sails is really the only answer anyone could ever give.
James Flint-McGraw-Hamilton owns my entire heart and I can and will fight about it. But honestly, I’m pretty sure he owns everyone else’s heart too so. Y’know.
Plot: 10/10*
England is terrible and James McGraw is mad about it. Or, this is a prequel to Treasure Island except if literally everyone was queer. Or, Please Do Not Anger The Gay Gingers.
Black Sails, at its heart, is a story about stories: who tells them, how they tell them. It is a story that drives home that everyone has a bias to the parts of the story they tell: that everyone has a different reason for the stories they choose or do not choose to let see the light of day. It is a story that will challenge you to think differently not just about every other piece of media you consume but your own life - and the stories you are telling. (Like, my personal story is that right now I’m crying and whether or not it’s true that’s the story I want you to believe, so I’m telling it to you.)
I have cried, and laughed, and had just about every other emotion about this show. There are actual canon main queer characters who get actual canon main queer character romances, deep nuanced discussions of social progress, how movements fail and why, who is left out of what historians will say prevailed, and all in a way that feels so very real and human it leaves a huge gaping hole in my chest every time.
*I promised I’d only say this once: The plot of Black Sails and I have our differences, and it is not perfect. Most of the show is technically flawless but there are parts - sometimes big parts - that are not. And that’s okay! Enjoying flawed media is okay! But I feel like it has to be said because while it absolutely deserves that ten, I don’t want to mislead you into thinking this is a perfect show.
With that said, I have watched this show....I think about 6 times all the way through at the time of typing this, and I’m on my 7th or 8th rewatch, depending on which friend group you ask. There is an incredible wealth of really rich writing, really clever writing, and yes - really game-changing writing. It’s the kind of show in which you will catch new things every time you watch it.
I don’t know what to tell you except just. Watch Black Sails. Do it with your eyes open because as I’ve said this is not a perfect show and sometimes the writers do tell on themselves, but....it’s just about as close as I’ve ever seen a major series come to it. And I love James McGraw enough to forgive them the rest.
(Did I mention that the backbone of the entire show is the motivation of one of its queer characters? That you literally cannot remove queerness from Black Sails and still have any part of the plot work? Cool, now I have.)
Watchability: 9/10
Watchability game is strong.
Black Sails is chock full of humor, exciting ship battles, historical easter eggs, queers, women, people of color(sometimes all three in one!), and really some of the best writing in terms of plot cohesion I’ve ever seen. The costumes and scenery is breathtaking, every single one of the actors showed the fuck up every day...listen could I write more? Yes. I have. But really - just.
... do I have to say it?
(Watch Black Sails.)
Black Sails is one of those shows that is going to affect everyone differently, and I’m too aware of my own bias to give it a true 10, but there is very little Black Sails gets wrong once it gets going. The first season makes some Choices, and towards the back end of the show it can feel like the writers ran out of metaphorical poster board for their happy birthday sign of a show, but on the whole definitely, 100% worth the go.
Warnings:
Graphic depiction(s) of r*pe in S1 and mentions of it in S2, general gore throughout. Although, I hate blood and guts stuff and it only twice really bothered me. Depictions of period typical racism and slavery throughout. @a-gay-coded-villain has made this super thorough, handy dandy So You Think You Can Dance Watch Black Sails (Laynie I’m so sorry I had to) guide that includes most of the major trigger warnings. Make sure you take a look - especially if violence against women bothers you.
Where to Watch:
Hulu is the main place to find this but it is also on Netflix in some countries and on DailyMotion
