hello, fellow horseshoe baygels. i'm bess marvin, coming to you live. as the new director and curator of the historical society, i've asked some fellow members of the #histso community to share how excited they are for the annual lovers' vigil being held here tomorrow night

Fun fact: as of July 2023, Ace and Nancy have been together for over three years. 

They've already seen the sun rise over the Goreme National Park at Cappadocia. And they absolutely got drunk on local wine love as they watched the Parisian sunset at Pont Des Arts, with Ace reciting poetry in flawless French the whole time.  

Ace was the cause of the Great Horseshoe Bay Sorbet Shortage and the reason local grocery stores had to up their orders. And Nancy was voted customer of the month by Horseshoe Baygels staff at least 12 times.

They visited Grant in his new city, had game nights with the crew, and went on road trips both for cases and just because. And while Rebecca taught Nancy secret Hardy family recipes, Ace went fishing with all the dads (if the mermaid attacked them once, who's to tell). 

They babysat Leo for Connor and Lily and spoke about the family they would eventually build and the names Kate and Lucy. 

Ace joined Nancy every single time she had to bail Ryan and Red out after the latter released some demon from an ancient relic and Nancy helped Ace study for his autopsy technician certificate.

They've argued about whose car to take to the weekly family dinners, what color to paint their living room, and how much is enough when it comes to donating blood. 

Together they've worked for Nick's city council campaign, volunteered for all of Bess's events at #HistSo, and cheered George on as she graduated pre-law a few months ago. They've hosted Passover seders, Thanksgiving dinners, and Chanukah celebrations, and they've made a home together where everything is half Nancy, half Ace and altogether theirs. 

They've been freakishly happy for the past three years; we merely need to catch up with them.

Ace: Firstly, dating does not mean you should stop seducing your partner. People like to be seduced, George.

Ace: And secondly, I need my love letters to Nancy to be perfect enough that if either of us end up getting turned into Aglaeca like monsters upon our deaths, the next generation of Horseshoe Baygels can protect themselves.

George: I hate how reasonable that sounds.

ok ok bold of you to assume that i actually name my wips when I usually just do it "nd fic" but thank you for the tag, i will search my wips to see if i can pull something up BUT I'm very curious to know about ace perfect world and i hope it means he is living on a bed of horseshoe baygels along side nancy and also the baby and wraith thing???? that looks like a job for the Hudson and Hardy Ghost Hunters

The Ace’s perfect world fic is a fic that was requested ages ago (and I hate that I have got yet reached a point where it can be published) where Ace ends up trapped in a dreamscape of his perfect world where Grant is there and he and Nancy are together. And Ace immediately realises it is a dreamscape because Nancy wouldn’t love him while in the real world Nancy is falling apart because he is dying.

As for Babies attacked by wraith: while trying to prove a hermit has been sending death threats to a property developer, fourteen year old Nancy Drew finds herself lost in the woods. Thankfully she has stumbled across an equally lost Eagle Scout calling himself Ace who can entertain her with tales of the Wraith that is now supposed to be hunting them. 

"Okay. Motive? Means? Opportunity?"

"Excuse me?" Ace replied.

Nancy stopped, folding her arms expectantly. She couldn’t stop a finger from tapping impatiently just beside her elbow.

"People being disappeared is a crime, therefore the best way to understand it is to break it down into means, motive and opportunity."

Ace nodded once. Then he paused, thinking for a moment.

"Opportunity - the Wraith lives in the wood. People stumble in, their group isn't looking in their direction. Some even come in alone."

He met Nancy’s eye at his last comment the 'like you' not needing to be said. Nancy didn’t let her expression falter, silently telling him to continue.

"Means - supernatural powers."

"That isn’t a means," Nancy said. "That's like saying he killed him with a weapon."

"It's the equivalent of saying he was killed through blunt force trauma with a heavy object. If I could be more specific I would be but until I find the evidence, I am reserving judgement."

Nancy allowed it, more than a little impressed by his ability to debate. With a bit of training from Carson and a long discussion about ghosts not being viable murder suspects, he could make a fine lawyer.
