Carlos on his last year at Ferrari 🐎

“They communicate to you that it’s your last year at Ferrari, how do you take that?”

“oof, well obviously you don’t take it well. No one likes it when they tell you that they don’t want to continue. Nobody likes to be left. Well, for me, they left me in February let’s just say that and obviously it felt bad. I had done a lot of good years at Ferrari, started the year off well, started winning. But yeah, there was a seven-time world champion named Lewis Hamilton who wanted to come to Ferrari and they made room for him. In contrast with that, I take it as philosophy and I try to accept it in the best possible way I can. I also take it as an opportunity for the future, more opportunities will come, more moments will come. I continue to want to be world champion, I continue wanting to win races, and you should go for it.”

“I’ll see you here, being a world champion. Do you feel in part of Ferrari theyve been, how do I put this, the treatment between you and Leclerc has been equivalent?”

“Yes. At all times. Sincerely, in that aspect I can’t complain in the treatment I’ve received at Ferrari. There’s always moments of tension, at all teams you think, “over here they could’ve offered me more of a hand”. The same as Charles and Ferrari they could’ve thought, “yeah, he could’ve acted a bit better”. But it’s high competition, you turn the page, you forget. For example my teammate and I are friends outside the track, we get on well, and we have a really good relationship. We make such a good team. I think, if there’s something that worked or works at Ferrari is the two drivers. We get on well, win races, get podiums, and on top of that we work as a team.”

“You’re so honest. Do you have any idea where you’ll be for next season?”

“No. At the time no. I have all my options laid out on the table, ready to make a decision. The decision can’t be rushed, but im going to take it very soon because I want to take it off me, make a decision and focus on the remainder of the year with Ferrari and they’ll be time to think about the future team. But this year I have a car that allows me to make podiums, allows me to win one race, and I want to center myself on that.”

“I have information.. but I don’t wanna”

“oh really”

“Well I have people who know a lot about Formula One who say there’s only one realistic option, but I don’t want to get into it”

“There’s not just one option, there are several.”

“Sauber. Williams.”

“There’s several. I’m not going to fool you, all the teams that at the time have not signed any drivers for the next year, I’m on their list and they’ve offered me a contract. I can sign the contracts tomorrow, but I will not sign tomorrow and I’m going to take it easy and calmly to decide soon. Just like the teams you’ve just mentioned, they’re an option for me.”

Franco’s mom on him moving to Europe at just 14 years old

The goodbye was really tough. Honestly, the memories are painful. It was sad, and on top of that, he… he wasn’t doing well because… he was only 14, and honestly, it was… it was really hard for him. I mean, he really wasn’t prepared. To be honest, in that sense, I do… I think I’m pretty self-critical. You raise them the way you think is right, but he didn’t really have the “tools.” Suddenly, he had to figure out things like cooking for himself, doing his laundry—he wasn’t ready for that, and he had to learn the hard way. So for me, being on the other end of the phone, having to explain to him how to wash a pair of underwear or how to make some pasta, it was really hard. It caused me a lot of anguish, honestly. His 14th year was incredibly hard. For all of us, not just for me.

Imagine letting your son, still so young, move to another continent, hours away by plane, because it's the only way for him to achieve his dream. Honestly, I can't stop thinking about it-—we don't talk enough about how brave she was. I can't even imagine how hard that must have been as a mom. I don't think my own mom would've let me do something like that. She looks like really sad when she thinks back to those memories I just want to give her a hug 🥺

Truly, all the respect to this strong and incredible woman👏💕

🇵🇷 Yesterday, my mom, John, and I worked at Second Union Church before picking up my dad at the airport and driving to Aguada. Since this morning we have been doing maintenance work and repairs at the church we support in Hormigueros. This work trip during Holy Week, to me, is a precursor to the work that will be done this summer through our youth camps and construction work. In one of the rooms of this church, I have been scraping paint of its walls. Depending on how many layers there are, some of what I have been scraping or pulling off, is almost like pulling off wallpaper. The work has been hard, but very, very rewarding.

yup, he posted it on instagram! he had a bike accident two weeks before monza and broke his collarbone. it was the last race of the season and he felt sooo guilty 😭 they didn't notify the fia so he was able to compete and won the sprint!! he couldn't celebrate much because of the pain

Then she said, "oh yeah, a young boy with an argentinian accent, no?" And is said yeah and she said yes.

Carlos on the LVGP drain accident 😣

“How was that moment for you?”

“Surreal. Every-time they remind me I get nervous. It’s cause, I don’t know, FP1 in LV the first two laps, we’re in a circuit that they invented in the center of LV. Cool circuit, cool city, but they planted a circuit where they could. Well on the second lap I pass the straight, another f1 car with the ground effect suctions a drain, because we lift them up w the suction of the cars, and the drain comes out. I pass through the drain, the drain comes up through my seat where my ass goes (🤣), and hits the motor.”

“Did you feel the hit?”

“I felt like a compression in my back, which actually hurt me and I got scared and I thought “I’ve hit something that by a miracle didn’t break my back”. And I got really scared, actually went into a little bit of shock. I was going 300/310 kph and for something to hit you like that in your back/ ass, a piece of metal, its scary. It damaged my engine, my chassis, damaged the whole car, the mechanics had 4 hours to fix the entire car to be able to get on track again. Then I find out 10-place grid penalty. Why? Because you need to change your engine. Okay yeah, but the engine broke because of something completely unaffiliated to me, something that was not my fault. Fault of the circuit, the organization, Formula One for not checking to see that the drains are properly sealed, but my fault it’s not. I qualified 2nd, with a chance to win, and all of a sudden you’re 12th. Because of a damn drain. Very unfair.”

“I’ve asked to buy the images, but they don’t want to sell them to me. They must not be very proud of the moment”

“No. It’s a chapter in which Formula One still has to better. These are things that are incomprehensible within the rules. I don’t like to talk bad about Formula One because it’s what puts food on the table, it’s my favorite sport, but there’s still things that could be bettered.”
