Scientific truth is marvellous, but moral truth is divine; and whoever breathes its air and walks by its light, has found the lost paradise. For him, a new heaven and a new earth have already been created.

Still always thinkin about Thomas Jefferson writing to James Madison after the Shay’s Rebellion about how it should be taught in schools that collective violence is not the way to express discontent and that the people must be taught to vote *instead* 🤨

And funny enough, this was in an article about Paglayan’s research on the Prussian Obedience Model for public schools - which still, to this day, is how our usamerican public schools are run!
https://today.ucsd.edu/story/education-systems-were-first-designed-to-suppress-dissent#:~:text=For%20example%2C%20absolutist%20Prussia%20was,promoting%20rewards%20for%20proper%20behavior.
And here ⬇️ is a nifty video essay about said Prussian Model of public education and why it was so implemented here in the settler-states of “America”:
https://archive.org/details/the-origins-of-the-american-public-education-system-horace-mann-the-prussian-model-of-obedience
⬇️
“According to Paglayan, the Prussian model of public education was designed to indoctrinate children into obedience and respect for authority. The model was created in the 18th century as a way to address social unrest and was a reference point for education systems that followed. The Prussian model influenced the American public school system, and some say its remnants are still present in contemporary schools.”

It’s no mere coincidence that when public free universal compulsory education steered away from churches in america that fetuses of science, arts, creativities, innovation, and opportunities truly no longer aborted by religion.
Horace mann. Look him up and look up compulsory education in Massachusetts before Horace mann from mid 1600.

Doing nothing for others is the undoing of ourselves. We must purposely be kind and generous, or we miss the best part of existence. The heart which goes out of itself gets large and full. This is the great secret of the inner life. We do ourselves the most good doing something for others.

So through remissness or ignorance on the part of parent and teacher, the minds of children may never be awakened to a consciousness of having, within themselves, blessed treasures of innate and noble faculties, far richer than any outward possessions can be; they may never be supplied with any foretaste of the enduring satisfactions of knowledge; and hence, they may attend school for the allotted period, merely as so many male and female automata, between four and sixteen years of age. As the progenitor of the human race, after being perfectly fashioned in every limb and organ and feature, might have lain till this time, a motionless body in the midst of the beautiful garden of Eden, had not the Creator breathed into him a living soul; so children, without some favoring influences to woo out and cheer their faculties, may remain mere inanimate forms, while surrounded by the paradise of knowledge.
From Horace Mann's first annual report (1837)

Wow, I didn't realize how much of an ahole you actually are, teacher boy.
There are a SHIT TON of young minds on here who we're supposed to be encouraging intellectual and artistic thought and growth, and here you fucking are, throwing pessimistic, discouraging bile all over their enthusiasm to learn new things.
I will have lived 50 years come next week, and learning is something that I've never stopped pursuing (I'm still learning more about various languages every day, as well as trying to learn more efficient ways to program AI). My passion is automatic, it's part of my core, but there are a lot of young minds that need help keeping their fire for learning burning. You're no goddamn help.
You're not fucking Wednesday Addams, so you can can the nihilistic attitude. You're a teacher! But you're actually a POS. I hope all the teacher crush girls who've crushed on you realized it fast.
Don't even dare respond to me with some kind of defense because I'll fucking eat you alive.
For a teacher, an educator/an 'academic', to fucking say this shit to young people is INDEFENSIBLE.
