Feeling.  For a moment, she blanks on what the word means.  “Laiyuc?”  Is that what Abby meant?  Her head hurts a little too much to translate.  She is tired, angered adrenaline having faded and left her sitting heavily on the ground.  Not for the first time, Devani wishes she could get drunk.  The moon is quartered, barely a buffer to her exhaustion.  Blood remains on her nails, staining her tongue with metal.  Her hair, despite having continued to not grow, is tangled enough that she wonders about cutting it all off.  She drags her hand through it and yanks out a bramble.   Shakes her head fiercely and clears her throat, stretching far too tense muscles.  “Feeling?” she repeats, rolling it over in her mind as if that would untangle it.  English hasn’t changed that much.  Devani flails, pointing to her head and then chest with a tilted head.  Her fingers flash despite being unsure if the woman in front of her even knows sign language.  Tired.  Pain.  Hunger.  Words? She finishes the question mark with a flare, turning wide eyes on Abby.

It had been a rough day for Abby and all she wanted to do was get home and see her daughter. That was why, as soon as she got there, she flung her arms around the blonde. "Hey sweetheart," she breathed, "how was your day?" { ark things from hopeisxverything i'm just too lazy to change accounts rn xD }

“I broke up a fight between Bellamy and Octavia and then proceeded to take a punch meant for the other when they got smart and I didn’t move in time, but otherwise I’m good. How was your day?” Clarke even with a busted lip managed a real smile as she leaned into her mother, returning her hug.

FRIENDSHIP FRIDAY

Tay was the very first person I ever followed when I came into the community and she welcomed me with open arms. We soon became friends and saltmates over our faves and no matter where she goes, I’ll always follow her. She is INSANELY talented at writing and has an amazing grasp on her characters - of which I naturally appreciate Abby the most, because she’s the mom ❤ we all have to love on her a little more, so she returns to her Abby account and graces our dashes with her presence ❤ Taylor, I love you to pieces and I am so, so HAPPY that you’ve been my friend for two years now. You’re wonderful and we all appreciate you so much ❤

          The fingers in his hair is what makes him pause, but it is the healer’s lips pressing to side of his neck which makes him trail of mid-sentence. He is SUPPOSED to be helping her with some sentences in his native tongue. Working in close proximity to so many clans makes it NECESSARY, besides which it would make it easier if he did not always have to speak to her in Gonasleng. Today, apparently she has OTHER ideas. His hand falls to her waist, fingers gently grasping as Abby works her lips across his skin, very clearly doing a wonderful job of DISTRACTING him. “ Yu nou smuch yo emo ledona op. ” he teases her, well aware she won’t know everything she is saying.

and this goes on for the entire six years. six years of reassurance. and two years in, they have a baby. they name her vera, or him nicholas ( winks @hopeisxverything ).

the reassurance slows a bit because with a new baby, both of their minds are busy, as well as with helping run the bunker. but every so often, the two are lying in bed. and abby starts crying. and marcus knows exactly why. and he just reminds her to keep her hope. they’ll see clarke again. they’ll see the ground, again.

because hope is everything.

hope is everything. 

and so they raise their kid with stories about the ground. and they mention clarke a lot, abby more so than marcus. but when marcus talks about her, it’s nothing but admiration. they tell their child about the other delinquents as well, and everyone else that paved the way for her. jasper, monty. bellamy. raven. harper. john murphy. finn. lincoln. lexa. wells. zoe. roan. emori. luna. anya. sinclair. maya. gina. callie. nyko. aden. vera. jake. 

and they’re all myths to this girl. even everyone who’s alive, they’re all just myths. stories of a past she was never a part of. so she doesn’t understand why her mother cries sometimes. doesn’t understand why her father goes quiet and stares into space more often than not.

but what she does understand, is that these people mean a lot to her parents. that the ground sounds and LOOKS beautiful. and she wants to go there.
