hi there!! are there any fics you’re reading right now that you would recommend? i need something good after the season we’ve been given so far 😣

hello there!

I agree, this season has been disappointing - especially considering it’s the last one. but thankfully, our fandom is full of amazing writers that serve us goods regularly. I have so much to recommend, it’s a joke. so prepare for a long fic rec. In no particular order, let’s begin:

1. Chasin’ You - @burninghoneyatdusk

okay. you’re gonna see a bit of a theme with me in these fic recs because the authors I mention are some of my favourites in the world - sam being one of the TOP TIER ones. this fic is a modern au, written about clarke and bellamy as exes (a favourite trope of mine) that have went their separate ways. clarke has moved away and hasn’t kept tabs on bellamy but he's soared to the top as a country star, his hit single being about her and what they had. if there’s any fic from this list you need to start reading, it’s this one.

2. Voices in the Water - @burninghoneyatdusk

It’s the canon version we all wanted. set on earth, clarke’s aunt (nia) forces her into an arranged marriage with king bellamy to unite the clans. but under it all, nia has tasked her to kill him. obviously, as clarke falls in love with bellamy, it’s the one task wanheda probably can’t complete. I'm in love with the imagery and descriptions in this fic. there are honestly some lines that sam writes that I want to frame and put up in my house. absolute brilliance.

3. All Because of You - @burninghoneyatdusk

*sheepishly raises hand* - hi, it’s me again, fangirling over another one of sam’s fics. if you have followed me for a while, either here or on twitter, you’ll have seen me screaming about this fic. I've pulled over while driving to read an update that came through to my email. no lie. I don’t say this lightly but it is definitely in my top 3 favourite bellarke fics of all time. sam DELIVERS with this one. bellamy knocks up his sister’s best friend when they’re both young and they grow together in raising their daughter. this fic flashes between present and future in the most seamless way and we see how in love they were back then but too scared to admit it, combined with how in love they are now that they are mature and older - but yet can’t seem to take the leap. I can’t tell you enough how good this fic is. I'm in love and it’s one of those fics that I would happily have as a book on my bookshelf, the pages worn and falling out from the amount of times that I re-read it.

*I just want to note that sam is doing a fantastic job at running @bellarkefic-for-blm. This is an opportunity for the bellarke community to directly support the Black Lives Matter cause through reading and writing fanfiction. 4. Count Your Teeth - @icantloseyou-too

let me tell you, you guys will be well fed after reading this fic. It’s one of the most original idea’s and we get so much bellarke and the blake siblings in this one. bellamy is a treasure hunter and married to clarke, after leaving his thieving days behind him. that is until his past comes knocking and drags him back into that world again - and clarke along with him. absolute chefs kiss!

5. Cups and Sorcerers - @icantloseyou-too

again, such a unique plot with just the right amount of fluff. clarke is a witch who owns a coffee shop and she ends up meeting someone just as unique as her. I’m invested in this to an embarrassing degree and it always puts me in a good mood when this fic is updated. such a light and heart filling read and ciara does a fantastic job of world building in this fic.

6. Paint me in Trust - @pawprinterfanfic

I'm sure this fic needs no introduction. everyone and their mother has heard of it and if you haven’t read it yet, believe me, you’re missing out. a harry potter au that runs alongside the last few movies without being involved with the main characters. essie manages to make an already existing world so different, thrilling and gripping. it emotionally upends you and takes you along for the ride without any intention of letting you off. I'm just in love with it and rightly so!

7. When the Wolves Come Home - @pawprinterfanfic

I don’t know how people aren’t RAVING about this fic more because I certainly am. it’s massive for me to even say this because I love all of essie’s work but it’s my favourite fic that she’s written. I can’t describe the feeling I get when I read how she’s written bellarke in this. it’s a percy jackson au but you don’t need to have knowledge of that world to enjoy this. I actually started reading the books because of this fic. essie writes it so well and incorporates a lot of fantastic elements from greek mythology while also keeping me on the edge of my seat with bellarke’s journey. HERE FOR IT ALL THE WAY.

8. I’ll Find You in the Morning Sun - @cominguproses13x

I’ve never seen a fic talked about as much as this one. with 60 chapters, it’s bound to satisfy any hunger you have for bellarke. it’s set in a post apocalyptic world and it is beyond a shadow of a doubt, my favourite setting to read bellarke in. I've actually stopped reading this fic on chapter 5 because im currently writing my own post apocalyptic au as it was a trope on my bingo card and I don’t want any subconscious spill over, but I fully intend on reading the rest of the fic in one go once my fic is published and done. it deserves all the praise and hype.

9. For Blue Skies - @kombellarke

kayla’s fics make me actually weep. her writing style is just unbelievable and she sucks me into stories so fast. this one is no different. I live and breathe for bellarke as exes and this fic is one of my favourites. it’s a modern au with clarke as a mother and she cascades back into bellamy’s life without warning. perfect angst and anticipation. in love.

10. Love Like Fools - @talistheintrovert

the way I love talis with my whole heart. I'm always obsessed with her fics and the way this one was written was just magnificent. enemies to friends to lovers, roommates, angst, emotional comforting? SIGN ME UP. the perfect mix of all of those and I felt so good after reading this. always a fan.

11. It Had To Be You - @useyourtelescope

I had the honour of pre-reading some of this fic before it was published and I felt so privileged. a regency au with a prank war sprinkled in? perfection. hana honestly writes this so beautifully and I can’t recommend this enough. it’s so unique and we are all so incredibly lucky that there’s something in the bellarke fic world for everyone.

12. Veni, Vidi, Vinci - @carrieeve

Again, proof of the pudding that there’s something in fic for everyone. I’ve never read one like this before and it THRILLED me. murphy and bellamy working together to steal a Vinci? it was the fic I never knew I needed. the bellarke interaction in this was beautifully written and I am just completely obsessed. we really struck gold with the bellarke big bang works this year.

13. A Twist of Fate - @queenemori

let’s be honest, soulmate au’s are always wanted and needed in this fandom and kara does an excellent job of serving us this one. we got some team cockroach in here along with some top tier quality bellarke. what more could you ask for? if you haven’t read this fic yet, you need to. so thankful for kara being the absolute gifted babe that she is.

14. Power Over Me - @sparklyfairymira

okay, if you recently watched the witcher on netflix like I did, believe me, you NEED to read this fic. if you haven’t watched the witcher, this fic will make you want to watch it. the smut in this, the plot, the WRITING. absolutely phenomenal. have I mentioned how lucky we are to have such fantastic writers in this fandom?

15. There’s a Serpent Lying Deep Down in These Still Waters - @shaeheda

post apocalyptic au? SIGN ME UP. bellarke thrown together in unkind circumstances? SIGN ME UP. this magnificent human writing a fic? SIGN ME THE FUCK UP. I'm so in love with this fic already and I haven’t even finished it yet. as I've said, I've stopped reading fics in this genre until my own is completed but I’ve read enough to tell you that this needs to be on your next to read list. forever in awe of the talent here and this fic makes me feel so lucky to be part of something so great.

I hope this satisfies you for a while and that you enjoy all the bellarkey goodness that comes from these fics. I'm gonna drop some of mine below because why not? just in case you’re in need of something more.

1. I Found Peace in Your Violence

clarke griffin has it all. she’s popular, an artistic prodigy and has a wealthy family to boot. so when her perfect world comes crashing down around her, it’s time to sink or swim. she tests positive for the Homicidal Tendency Syndrome gene, also known as the kill gene. clarke is plucked from her comfortable life and placed into a school with people just like her - carriers, delinquents. when she meets bellamy blake there, he looks like everything they say HTS carriers are. a monster, a criminal. yet, he’s the one who protects her.

2. I Am Lost This Time

a void!bellamy fic that we all deserved to have happen in canon. an au where bellamy hears clarke’s radio calls from earth, sees her memories in m-cap and where she really is the key: the one that unlocks his memories and brings him back to her.

3. Purple, Blue, Orange, Red

bellarke are childhood friends and teenage lovers, reuniting in the midst of the same grief that tore them apart.

4. Devil Side

post apocalyptic setting and my favourite fic to have ever written. both of them coming together to survive and protect those in their family, including two small children. bellarke started out as strangers, who would have thought that they’d end up co-parenting in the middle of a world that is too dangerous to survive out in the open?

5. Waste It on Me

a soulmate/reincarnation au that I wrote based off my own breakup and feelings. probably my most popular fic and should keep you going in terms of bellarke feels.

Clarke wants to ruin her reputation in this College AU and who better to do it than resident heartbreaker Bellamy Blake? They enter a friends with benefits/Bonnie and Clyde arrangement (it works I swear), but oops, they like like each other.

Sometimes you just need a cute little S1 AU where Bellamy faints and Clarke gives him a hard time for it. Oh, and feelings.

small dot among infinite stars by @kindclaws

This is a really interesting take on how one change can drastically affect future events. It’s a S2+ AU where Dante shoots Cage and Clarke doesn’t irradiate Mount Weather, but the end of the world still comes.

someone let the poets out by @kindclaws (WIP)

This one’s hella meta and I love it. Even though it’s based on the GoT cast, I could totally see it also applying to the 100 cast given how S7 may or may not go. Fingers crossed for a decent ending. Anyway, Bellarke and co. are the stars of a popular show in its final season, and they are horrified by what Jaha comes up with story-wise. (Think those final GoT table reads. C’mon, we’ve all seen the footage of Conleth tossing his script aside when Varys is killed off). So they decide to recreate their own low-budget version of the final season. And Bellamy may or not be having a crisis regarding his feelings for a certain blonde co-star. OH! And how could I forget the social media tie-ins? Brilliant. Definitely read this one on a desktop to get the full experience.

how I learned to stop worrying and love the apocalypse by @kindclaws

Another kindclaws fic. I’m sorry but the writing is just so good. I can’t help but include them. This one’s a Praimfaya AU fic and also an exes fic and also a time loop fic and also an angst fic and I love it so much. I personally recommend the 2nd person POV version (chapter 1), but if 3rd person is more your jam, then just read chapter 2!

An Evening I Will Not Forget by @octannibal-blake

Bellamy is a soldier who has a “one night stand” with Clarke the night before he’s deployed, but these losers can’t have a one night stand to save their lives, so of course there’s emotion involved. I’m a sucker for military AUs, so of course I liked this one.

Bellamy’s an actor. Clarke’s a singer. He likes some of her photos on Twitter. She slides into his DMs. It’s the start of a beautiful friendship love story. These idiots I swear. I’m actually surprised this is the first safeandsound13 fic I’ve listed on here considering the first part of my other fic rec was basically a love letter to her Hunger Games AU series. That, and I’m subscribed to her as an author. Seriously. Go read everything she writes.

Clarke receives an invitation to Octavia’s wedding, but the problem is that she hasn’t seen Bellamy or Octavia in over 5 years. And Clarke and Bellamy are both hiding secrets. Y’all. This one was emotional af. But so good. I will say, heed Tricia’s author tags and warnings. Just in case.

Another cute fic but this time with Bellarke as parents! These are short little fills combined into a one shot, and they’re just perfect. I love it.

Bellamy and Clarke agree to be friends after they break up. Angst ensues. Being friends with your ex is hard y’all. I promise it has a happy ending.

what are you working on right now? I’m currently keeping my DM’s etc open for fics for the Bellarke for BLM initiative which is an absolutely wonderful cause with a bunch of amazing writers on board! I’d encourage anyone with a little extra money who has been thinking about getting a prompt written by one of the amazing people in this fandom to submit to this cause!

what’s something you’d like to write one day? Man, I just put out a post on tumblr seeing if anyone would be interested in reading a World Traveller!Clarke and Local! Bellamy fic that I can’t stop thinking about, I’m hoping to write that this summer! It would definitely be the longest work that I’ve ever written so I’m still trying to find the energy to actually sit down and commit to it because I’d want to do the idea justice

what is the fanwork you’re most proud of? Hmm, I’m just getting back into writing fic and I don’t think I can really be proud of something I wrote when I was a teenager, so I’d probably have to say I realized I need you here, as desperate as that sounds, which is a Bellarke modern AU ex’s fic that I wrote for Bellarke Bingo. The title comes from Jon Bellion’s song Woke the F*ck Up, which is amazing if you’ve never heard it. I’ve been thinking about extending that one for a while now since (spoiler) the ending was left so open, so if anyone wanted to request a part 2 for Bellarke for BLM I’d be more than willing hehe.

why did you first start writing fic? It’s been so long now I can’t quite remember, but I probably started writing fic because the shows I was watching at the time ended/were cancelled and the endings were unsatisfactory for me. I’ve honestly deleted pretty much all of my early fics because I was 14 when I started writing them and they were embarrassingly bad.

what frustrates you most about fic writing? Probably the feeling that everything has been done before. It’s honestly my biggest frustration with writing in general. I feel like I don’t have unique enough ideas, and everything has been done at this point. Unless I’m hit with a brilliant idea at random, I really rely on prompts to actually be able to write something in order to make sure I’m actually writing something people want to read, if that makes sense?

what are your top five songs right now? This is a really hard question because I LOVE music and I’m always listening to it and every song is my favourite song, but my faves right now are probably Cool by Dua Lipa, 3 AM by HAIM, Park Bench by Valley and Spinning by Mark Ronson and Ilsey (which I’ve been trying to tell everyone is a GREAT Bellarke song, so check it out).

what are your inspirations? RE: the above question, I love music so it’s definitely a huge influence when it comes to fic writing. I don’t necessarily put in a specific playlist but I’ll listen to whatever I’m loving in the moment and if there’s something in the lyrical content, etc. of the music I’m listening to at that moment in time I’ll definitely let it inspire my writing. I definitely want to push myself to incorporate more themes in the songs that “speak to me” so to say in my writing.

what first attracted you to Bellarke? I mean at first I saw them both on my tumblr dash in passing and the bisexual in me thought “that is a good looking pair. Must watch show”, but it wasn’t until a friend and I watched the show a while later that I actually was like huh. There’s something with these two. To be fair, like I’m sure most, I didn’t really like Bellamy at first because it was season one and he was a dick, but I grew to love their relationship as it developed through to mid-season 2 (which was airing when I first started watching the show) and was pretty much a goner after that.

what attracts you now? Man, I love everything about their dynamic now. The open trust, the ability to be two sides of the same coin despite the distance. I didn’t realize this was an unpopular opinion until recently but I actually loved season 6. Bellamy was the ONLY one to pick up on the fact that Clarke wasn’t Clarke, despite having known her just as long as the others, despite Madi having spent those 6 years with her. The idea of having a person that knows you on that deep of a level and actually cares enough to pay attention to the small details is so attractive to me and just *chef’s kiss.

Besides Bellarke, what character or pairing do you like best on t100? I loved Linctavia (and just Lincoln in general, RIP), Memori, Marper. Anyone Miller has been shipped with. Murven (Raven is hands down the show’s most shippable character). I really liked her and Wick even though they had super short lived development because his actor ended up being a douche oops.

why did you decide to start writing for bellarkefic-for-blm? Honestly, just because it’s such a great reason to write fic and I felt like I wasn’t doing enough to support the movement. People are so fake on social media these days. Everyone shares that post to their story and doesn’t actually follow through with actions that cause lasting impact and I really didn’t want BLM to be a passing trend and I wanted to do what I could to help behind the scenes without being a performative activist.

what’s your writing process like (esp for prompts, chopped!, etc)?My writing process is a little all over the place honestly. Sometimes I can bang something out in a couple of hours, sometimes it takes days to figure out where I want to take something. There’s a meme or something going around about writers having the beginning and the ending of their fics all planned out but the middle isn’t even a spec in the universe and that’s honestly so true for me. I know how I want to start something and I know where I want to take it but I never know what to put in the inbetween. I love prompts that are more specific because it helps me fill in that middle piece!

what are some things you’d like to recommend? Mentioned this above, but definitely listen to Spinning by Mark Ronson and Ilsey! Fic wise, the first recommendation that comes to mind is Bury a Friend, Try to Wake Up by @talistheintrovert / theinvisibledisaster on AO3 because it’s one of my fave fics I’ve read in a while and the first one to come to mind hehe. Season 6 AU for all of you canon divergence fans.

I know it’s gonna take time, but just gonna take a wild hunch that Despite how reserved Shikamaru is I feel like he’s gonna fold first when it comes to confessing how he feels towards her- because they’re both smart, both stubborn and that’s why they bump heads but I feel like there’s gonna be some sort of middle ground they share.

But my question issss: were there any episodes from naruto shippuden that sparked interest when writing this? I feel like I can maybe think of a few, but I’m always curious to know where the inspo comes from

can’t respond to your hypo though (for spoiler reasons -- optimistic to even think they’ll be a confession!😂jkjk) !!! but it makes me so happy to hear you’re even engaged enough to be considering possibilities.

to answer your question, no. there weren’t any episodes i was keeping in mind. but the beginning of shippuden, where they’re walking and he’s waiting for in the morning and then in the war when they work together -- those are my fav shikatema scenes and i keep them in mind for every fic i write (nothing specific to aibg). the ONE thing i can think of is in boruto (which i neither watch nor read nor plan to) there was that gif where she was saying something to shikadai about how shikamaru evaluates the world and sees the big picture or something, and that (not her comment, just her KNOWING him and how he works in the field) was something i liked and that idea did make its way in here.

as far as other inspiration, what i said in the first chapter (something like it started arranged-marriage au i always wanted to hit for fic bingo, then went spy, then ended americans-au) is 100% accurate. this post answers some of that too. inspired by lots of little things from other people (some other fics too (i remember one shizaya and one bellarke that had influences here)), books i was reading, tv shows (most obvs americans, but others too), etc.

July 5: Vague Writing Ideas 2: Multi-Part Fics

Sometimes lists are soothing to me.

Some of these are started and posted, some are started and not posted, some are unstarted.

And They Lived: A Sleeping Beauty AU: Bellarke; (mostly) Ark AU; 2 chapters posted; 2 chapters written but unedited; 1 chapter partially written; 1 chapter unwritten. Only been saying I’ll get back to this for over a year! But if ever there was a multi-part fic I should just frickin’ finish, it is this one. I mean it’s already partially up, plus I’ve done SO much work on it already. I haven’t seriously even looked at it in a long while, so I’m rather intimidated by it, but, hey, I wrote it, and I’m only a better writer now than I was in uh.... 2017.

A Watch With No Hands: Bellarke, AU. So I outlined this fic for Bellarke Big Bang 2019 and couldn’t get through the whole outline so I separated it into parts and just pretended that wasn’t cheating.Based on the outline, I’d say I’d have to write at least 40k to finish it. And for whatever reason I find this story very difficult and I have a hard time liking it. Plus even though I’ve gotten very nice comments on it, including for the latest part, the length and the time gaps between posting make it unlikely that any future part will get much notice overall. So putting all that together, it’s a little demoralizing to think about. But I’m also stubborn and I think there are some cool things in the unwritten parts of the outline. If/when I go back to it, I’ll probably just publish each chapter as I write it, instead of more closely together like I did with Part One and the Interlude.

Can’t Be King of the World: An Ark AU: multi-pairing. Lol only a fic I’ve been thinking about since I joined the fandom. Had a wonderful time planning the whole thing out at the beginning of this year but I still haven’t written anything new for it since literally 2017. Still hoping though. Maybe someday I’ll just post the outline by itself hhahaha I’m semi-serious.

Love Potion Fic: Bellarke; Modern AU; for Bellarke Bingo. No idea if this will actually happen because the outline for it is a MESS and realistically, will I ever want to fix it? I haven’t put that much into this fic and I feel like I shouldn’t if I’m not prepared to really go for it and... am I? Is it a good enough idea? Truly don’t know.

Indulgent Party Fic: multi-pairing, Modern AU. I think I’ll probably end up writing more of this someday (haven’t worked on it since February but it’s been very off and on for a long time) but I doubt I’ll ever fully finish it and post it. I might post part of it just for the heck of it but I’m in no hurry. It’s super indulgent, of questionable quality, absolutely no point, and I like keeping it entirely for me.

Dollhouse AU: Bellarke. I have a bunch of disorganized notes on this and have written significant chunks in my head but my two attempts at actually writing the first chapter totally went tits up so, it’s been on a long hiatus. I don’t see any audience for this outside of me, myself, and I, but I sure would love it!! At most, I do see myself some day sitting down and planning it like I did with the Ark AU, for fun.

oh well, you’ve got me under your spell: Bellarke, High School AU. I wrote one chapter of this, said it was going to be a multi-chapter, tried to continue it, hit a wall, and then became too scared to continue. I loved this fic. I wrote a lot more in my head and thought it was aces. But now my own personal expectations are too high. Weirdly, I accidentally trained my brain to think of this fic every time I print out call numbers at work so I think about it A LOT in this weird little ‘flash of thought’ way. Would love to get over my own irrational fear and return to this universe.

Reality Bites AU: Bellarke, Modern AU. This was going to be my Bellarke Big Bang 2020 fic and then I didn’t sign up because I missed the deadline by a few hours, but it was better because could I have done it? This year? Are you kidding me? Of course not. So it’s fine. I wish someone else would write this fic for me because it would be PERFECT but also too much work.

Band AU: multi-pairing, Modern AU. Technically speaking, I have several intensely vague ideas under the heading ‘band au’ but one in particular, involving several bands with perhaps changing rosters, and loooots of pining Bellarke, has been rattling around in my brain for ages. Not even outlined. Just bits of things that might not make a coherent whole.

I think what the summary of all of this is that I am completely correct in seeing the thoughts floating around my brain as fragmentary and random. So they are. Sometimes it’s okay, even nice, even fun, to have inspiration that doesn’t go anywhere. Not everything need be productivity and accomplishment.

Happy BFSN!

Wow, what a hectic two weeks it has been for me. Sorry for no BFSNs for a while; I didn’t even know where to begin! Thank you for still tagging me — I love seeing what everyone is up to.

The biggest thing I’m excited about is that BELLARKE BINGO HAS BEGUN! Jen and I have spent the last few months working on this project and we’re so excited for its launch. Thank you to everyone who has signed up so far; it’s bound to be a wonderful event. AND there’s already submissions!? You beautiful and talented people!

Another thing I’m excited about is MY NEW BELLARKE FIC! It’s been a hot minute since I wrote for these two idiots in love, and I’m so excited to get back to them. The fic will be posted today and is titled “starry eyes and galaxy minds (we’ll be dancing on the clouds at night)” (based off lyrics from the lovely dodie, shout out to @talistheintrovert). I’m so excited to share this fic. Go check it out! I’d love to hear your thoughts.

MONTREAL IS THIS WEEKEND and I can’t wait!! I’ll try my best to post often, but I have a feeling I’ll have more consistent updates on my Twitter (@ Pawprinter1). So excited. So not ready. What is packing??

Happy BFSN friends!! With a bonus of being Bob’s episode!! Also the BFSN after that end scene of the last episode absolutely MURDERED ME AND THEN BROUGHT ME BACK TO LIFE?????? I almost screamed during it and then immediately made my roommate watch it with me since she knows my love for Bellarke. I just. I can’t even. The beautifulness of it still blows me away. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

In the fic world, I’ve been working on a couple of my different prompts for the Bellarke Bingo challenge and am really loving them so far. Hoping to get one of them up this week, as well as some moodboards for them!

I spent this past weekend in the mountains with my best college friends and it was honestly so amazing. It felt great to detach from work and social media and just celebrate hanging out with each other. We did almost have a run in with a black bear lol but all good in the end! But I’m stoked to also be back and I think my creative block is finally gone so it looks like taking a break was the key! who would have guessed............

I really enjoy your fics and the fic recs you’ve done in the past, but with all the new ones for Big Bang and bingo I really don’t know where to start! Any pointers?

Hi nonny.

Wow, tough question. Bellarke Big Bang had so many wonderful fics submitted for its challenge (some that are still on my ‘marked to read’ section on ao3) and mine and @pawprinterfanfic challenge (Bellarke Bingo) has submissions almost daily so again, I haven’t gotten around to reading them all yet.

But I will try to form a fic rec for you based on the ones I have read. I’ll add the links, pop in the summary and then give a brief commentary (in italics) of what I thought/why the fic needed to be included in this rec list.

We’ll start with @bellarkebigbang:

1. Paint me in Trust by @pawprinterfanfic

Clarke is on the run. It’s 1997 in Britain, during the height of the Second Wizarding War. Voldemort is running rampage through the Wizarding World, fear is weighing heavily on everyone, and anyone who doesn’t side with the Dark Lord is in danger. Clarke was expected to side with him. She’s from a pureblood family that has decades tangled with the Dark Arts, after all. But, she didn’t.

So, she ran. Somehow, she finds her way to a safe house where she meets with other wizards and witches on the run.

All Bellamy wanted to do is to keep his sister safe. Instead of saving her, he’s stuck in a safe house with her. She’s a Slytherin, and she’s the daughter of a Death Eater. He doesn’t trust Clarke; why should he? Now, he’s stuck with her as they roam around the country, looking for places to stay safe and stay hidden. He quickly realizes that things could be worse. And… maybe Clarke isn’t as bad as he thought.

A Harry Potter world AU, written by my magnificent friend Essie. I’m not just putting this here because she’s my friend, this fic is actual gold. It’s so well written, like everything she writes, and I cannot get enough of it. Brilliance.

2. We were in love (now we’re strangers) by @raven-reyes-of-sunshine

Bellamy stares at his phone in concern. Asking him to fake date Clarke would be a weird thing to ask even if they were still friends. But they’re not. They hardly even talk anymore. But for Raven to be asking, practically begging, there must be a fairly good reason that Clarke needs a fake boyfriend for this wedding. It’s just not something she would be asking otherwise. Especially not something she would be getting Raven to ask him. It’s a lot and it has him concerned.

He’s not agreeing to it. He’s just saying that he’s going to need more time and more information and maybe a face to face conversation before he makes a decision. He and Clarke might not be friends anymore. But he’d known her forever. He can’t help caring. He cares with his whole heart. He can’t stop that. And he won’t lie. He’s a little curious. So he sends Raven a message that says they’ll discuss it when she’s sober and switches off his phone so he can sleep.

This girl was born with heaps of talent. I actually got the opportunity to pre-read a little bit of this fic before it was posted and it was agony waiting for the rest of it. It grips you from the opening line and I can’t sell this fic enough. READ IT.

3. Take Me to Your River (A Waltz in Three Parts) by @chase-the-windandtouch-the-sky

After the events on the Ground, Clarke and Bellamy no longer feel like the team they once were. They’re puzzle pieces that don’t fit, languages with no connection, and worlds with no peace. So when they venture out into the new planet to scout before waking everyone up, they have an opportunity to relearn who they are after all the time apart, discovering the people they’ve become.

Except when they stumble across an abandoned mansion in the woods from a distant piano, they discover this world has hidden traps that Earth never had. Now they’ll have to survive their own ghosts. Except what will they do when the real ghosts are each other?

The Day Trip 2.0 fic no one asked for.

I adored this fic from beginning to end. It had to be part of my rec list because it’s one fic that stands out in my head when I think of this challenge. And I also love the girl who wrote it too - such a sweetheart.

4. In A Pitch Black World (Anything Goes) by @talistheintrovert

Bellamy and Clarke fell in love in Cairo in 1943, and then Clarke broke his heart. In 1949, Bellamy is working as a Private Investigator in London when Clarke turns up on his doorstep claiming her grandfather was murdered. No-one is above suspicion and the killer is poised to strike again.Or, the Crooked House AU that I’ve been *dying* to write for months.

Is it really a fic rec if Talis isn’t apart of it? The artwork of this fic combined with the story is so so beautiful and I always remember it. It’s such a gripping plot and I’d re-read this until I die. Yeah, this has to make the cut!

5. A Watch With No Hands by @kinetic-elaboration

Bellamy has lived his whole life in space, in a series of 300-year old space stations known as the Ark. When an oxygen crisis sends the stations down to Earth, he flees the beginning of a military dictatorship, and discovers that his long-abandoned home planet isn’t as deserted as he believed it to be.

Clarke lives in peace with her people, making art that celebrates the beauty of the Earth. But a recent discovery by her best friend has opened up the possibility that the world was not always this peaceful, nor this beautiful. Wells’s subsequent disappearance, the surreptitious experiments of her neighbors, and the inscrutable silence of the village’s leader, all contribute to a growing sense of unease in her community. When she encounters a stranger in the woods, they give each other the answers they’ve each been seeking: about history, peace, trust, the Earth’s violent past, and its hopeful future.

This was one of the most intriguing and unique storylines that I read in the Big Bang challenge. The way everything was described, the detail - ugh, it’s just a masterpiece. I wonder why I bother writing when I read fics like this one, how could I compare?

6. Hung up on You by @eyessharpweaponshot

Bellamy Blake does not get hung up on girls. It just doesn’t happen. It’s probably why he’s out of his depth when his easy ‘friends with benefits’ arrangement with Clarke Griffin turns into something he can’t control. He’s heartbroken when she leaves town, leaves him, and he thinks he’s made a good effort to move on. However, upon her return, it only takes the mere mention of her name for the crushing realisation to hit: he never got over her at all.

I’m gonna plug my own fic submission to Big Bang here guys. Because, well, why not?

Okay. Onto @bellarkebingo. This challenge is obviously close to my heart as myself and Essie are hosting it and I will eventually get around to all the fics on there.

I, myself, haven’t even had time to complete anything off of my own bingo card yet but I’m so excited to do it. The talent that has come out of this challenge already is off the chain and sign ups are always open, so come on over and request a card to start writing.

Here are some of the fics I have been loving so far:

1. Melt Into You by @icantloseyou-too

Clarke might have underestimated the blizzard. What was supposed to be a late finish at the clinic to catch up on paperwork turns into a storm-stayed night with the last person she would have expected, but as she’s about to find out, a lot can happen in one night.

Wow guys, just wow. What people are doing with the tropes on their cards - I can’t deal. I have no fingernails left after this fic - I was hooked, obsessed, invested, heartbroken, intrigued and outrageously happy. I love this girl to death and she created thee most magnificent piece for bellarke bingo. Bravo!

2. guess it’s never really over by @captaindaddykru

“You want me to put a kitchen supply up my—”

“I’m kidding, I’m kidding,” he interjects, shoulders shaking with a chuckle. It fades and a heavy feeling of resignation settles between them. “Imagine how many diapers we could buy with that kind of money.”

Clarke crosses her arms over her chest, almost petulant. She knows he hates it when she gives him an attitude for no reason. “Well, what do you expect we do?” Does he wanna blow it off? He never used to be a quitter. She lets out almost this nervous chuckle, tongue darting out to wet her lips as she thinks of the most ridiculous option of them all. “The old-fashioned way?”

He half-shrugs, cool expression on his face. Still, she knows him too well to not realize he’s being completely serious. “It worked out pretty well for us last time.”

Or: Clarke and Bellamy think it’s a good idea to try and have another child together even though they divorced three years ago.

Right, for those of you who know me well, seeing ‘exes, angst and smut’ in a bellarke fic just basically shoots the fic into my favourites/will read again pile straight away. This fic more than lived up to it. The plot was awesome and something I’ve never read before and even just describing it makes me want to go back and read it again right now. Amazing.

3. dance away your fear of love by @she-who-the-river-could-not-hold

Life for Bellamy Blake hasn’t changed much in the past few years, not since his mother’s death and he took over her coffee shop in his hometown of Stars Hollow. That is until he receives a phone call from his ex, his high school girlfriend Clarke Griffin. Motherhood brings Clarke back home and from there they slip into new roles, while he battles old forgotten emotions.

This was everything I never knew I needed. The characterisation, the plot, the FEELS. This had to be on the rec list, there was no way I’d consider leaving it off of it. It was honestly perfect, from every angle. Not to mention that the author is a complete and utter babe.

4. to save a life I didn’t have by @kombellarke

Post 6.08 Speculation. Bellamy drags Josephine through the woods in search of Gabriel. He is confronted by a manifestation of his darkest fear and deepest desire, Clarke Griffin.

I have read other fics from this author and honestly, she just gets better and better each time she writes. Such an amazing, heart wrenching fic. It was one of the first submissions I read and it brought the biggest smile to my face to see such talented fics coming to our challenge.

5. Would Roses Bloom by @icantloseyou-too

Clarke was totally fine with being ‘just friends’ with Bellamy, honestly. Even on the nights they kissed they were just friends. Even on the nights they fell into each other’s beds they were just friends. So when Bellamy starts dating Echo it shouldn’t sting at all. It shouldn’t.

Another fic submission by this girl and honestly, I can’t tell you which one I like better. They are both phenomenal but this fic stands out majorly to me. I can relate to it on a personal level and reading it makes me feel like I’m actually living in the plot. My heart races and I feel the shame, the worry, the pain - EVERYTHING.

6. Sick of Losing Soulmates by @pawprinterfanfic

Clarke and Bellamy talk after the events at Gabriel’s. After almost losing her again, Bellamy intends to not let emotions go unspoken.

I don’t think Essie has wrote a fic yet where I haven’t shed a tear over it. This was incredibly beautiful and so well written. I’m so lucky to know such inspirational, incredible writers.

7. hanging all her hopes on the stars by @carrieeve

a month ago, Bellamy and Clarke slept together. a one-time, drunken thing and now they are very much not talking about it. in fact, they are not really talking about anything because Clarke is sure Bellamy doesn’t want it to mean anything and since she’s been in love with him for years now, this all feels pretty much like the world is ending.

the world, not one to be outdone, decides to show off and actually ends.

I just read this fic this morning and I couldn’t leave it off the rec list. It was so good, so interesting and a great concoction of tropes off of her bingo card. I’m very fond of Karolina’s fics and this did not let me down. So good and a perfect fic to end the fic rec with.
