kara in the current continuity doesn’t really have a secret identity anymore. like, she is working as kara zor-el, she probably signed her rent papers with “kara zor-el” etc. BUT. she also most definitely didn’t disclose she was going by kara danvers at one point. you know, because it would be dangerous for the few people she got close to during rebirth. so by now i’m pretty sure the missing case of kara danvers has gone cold. the people she went to high school with think she is most likely dead. one of them made a tiktok talking about her that blew up. “a girl in my class didn’t come to school one day and we haven’t seen her since. this is her story.” for all we know, there might even be a true crime episode dedicated to the disappearance of kara danvers. i’m sure she is flattered. the neighbours probably still occasionally bring eliza and jeremiah diner once in a while. “i’m sorry this happened to your daughter. she was such a bright kid.”, “we know, it’s just… so sad, man. *supergirl flies over them* just so so sad.” afterwards, they invited kara to eat the food together. they also tell her they should just fake her death at this point. she doesn’t want to. it’s just about the funniest thing that has ever happened to her (of course she tells her friends what really happened. she doesn’t let them be turmoiled by her “death” for too long.)

anyway, i think next time she has an ongoing she should team up with a detective buddy of her who got hired to investigate the strange disappearance of kara danvers. he doesn’t know supergirl went by “kara danvers” at one point. “hey, kara, isn’t it strange you both have the same first name?”, “what can i say, who doesn’t like the name kara?”. they investigate together for a while, because it’s just so funny to kara. but in the end she tells her friend and they finally fake kara danvers’ death.

IS THERE ANYTHING MORE HEARTBREAKING THAN SEEING A FAVORITE BOOKMARK SUDDENLY DELETED?

The one in question here was “Navigator” by SaltySaph. 

It was a massive Legend of Zelda work with two out of three (?) acts completed (and each act being over 100,000 words each), and one of the only instances I’ve seen of Good-Guy-Ganondorf being built in a way that villainizes neither Zelda nor his mothers. 

It had some of the best world-building magic explanations I've seen TO DATE, and it was a story so good that soon as I finished what was out so far, I started re-reading it all the way back to chapter 1 of the first act.

16. "It could be worse."

Felix is busted, and bruised, and betrayed, and bereft. He sticks beside the wheelchair boy with eyes full of hate and a fate cursed by his own bloody hands, and wishes things were different. They’re lonely. It’s their own faults. Wheelchair understands, his legs mangled and burning resentment alight in his eyes. They know of unexpected pain; the agony of their arrogant mistakes. Permanent injuries from those they thought they could trust. 

“It could be worse,” Wheelchair tells him, dry and hollow. Felix resents the notion. The gritty, determined optimism he can’t replicate stings sharper than that fall ever could.

47. "No-one needs to know."

Monty’s no stranger to secret deals. He’s grown used to hiding merchandise in his pockets, swiping illegal products for his shadiest buyers with a sort of grim, resigned determination. Felix Huxley is rich, and influential, and his company is far too successful to have avoided any corruption.

“Excellent,” Felix says, the handshake firm and filthy. This is necessary, Monty reminds himself. “I trust this will be kept a secret?

“No-one needs to know.” Monty confirms, voice low and hushed.

The chemicals stay in his jacket pocket, and Felix dismisses the matter like nothing happened.

It’s routine. It’s awful. 

It’s necessary.

We all go to a park in the morning on weekends before the heat is too much and read our respective books then have a picnic and talk about how the book made us feel, but not necessarily discuss it, since we're all reading different things
