Pumpkin Carving
Prompt: Day 1 Pumpkin Carving. By Pepper_Mintyzz
It was cold and chilly, the weather you'd expect from the upcoming fall. This meant, no more shorts or sleeveless clothes. It was time to bundle up, start making hot cocoa of some sorts and getting ready for the upcoming holidays.
This is where Missa was currently finding himself in. He was in a field, a field of many pumpkins and he was trying to determine which were good… He refuses to take such rotten ones. He needed to make sure they were good, it's the very least he could do to prove to Philza his gratitude for letting him enter his hardcore world. He's pretty sure Philza wouldn't really care, but he did!
Missa’s black ear gently flickered at the small contact of the breeze. It was going to get colder, so he reluctantly just picked two pumpkins that seemed good enough and trotted back to their— Philza's base.
“Oh hey, mate” Phil hummed, as he dusted his hands off the soul sand dust on his pants, indicating he had barely arrived back from the Nether. “Oh, those pumpkins?”
Missa nodded, having just set the pumpkins on a makeshift table that he quickly made at the last second when he realized Phil didn't have a table in this house. “Si, para la próxima temporada de halloween” He replied, as he looked through Philza's chest, trying to find any sharpies or simple cutting tools to use. He finally looked at Philza, who seemed to be feeling the pumpkin and checking if they were alright.
“All I got was Halloween.” Phil said, as he chuckled while his wings fluttered behind him. “Man, these are pretty good pumpkins if you ask me. We could have made pumpkin pie instead!”
“No. We must do it traditionally. Para nuestros ninos” Missa grumbled, as he gently smacked Phil’s hand away from the pumpkins, clearly not trusting him to not take it and run off to make pumpkin pie. Phil laughed a bit, stepping back and walking to the crafting bench to create the materials that Missa couldn't find.
“Puta Madre, tú no tienes?! You just watched me look around like a clueless moron” Missa huffed, and Phil burst out laughing at that, his wings slightly spread out from the action. “Listen, it was very cute to watch you look around like a confused cat trying to find it's you”
Phil was quick to make the materials, just years of practice, really. He made his way back over, handing a charcoal to Missa instead of a sharpie that Missa slightly got used to using back in the other world. “Old traditions stuff, mate” He said, amused as he grabbed his own charcoal and started to mark on the pumpkin.
“Cállate.” Missa muttered, as he focused on his own pumpkin. He didn't have to go all out, but October was a month of the dead, sort of. It was more or less for ghost related traditions, he wasn't sure if Phil followed the same manner that he did. However, Phil didn't seem to mind following these silly traditions with him… He felt his ears gently pressed down against his head, as he carefully drew Chayanne and Tallulah onto the pumpkin. He fully hoped that his two children would somehow, miraculously, see these glowing pumpkins and they'd return home.
It was a silly and hopeful wish, but… Damn it. He missed his kids, it's been months already since they hatched and they never spend Halloween together before. Missa jolted a bit, when he felt something warm and heavy, slightly drape over his shoulders and he realized it was Phil’s wing over him. He glanced over, and Phil just seemed focused on drawing on his pumpkin.
“...” Missa softly smiled, as he turned his attention back to the pumpkin. Yeah, it'll be fine… he's sure the kids will appreciate these pumpkins even if they're not here.
In the field of pumpkins, two crows happily perched on a few pumpkins, cawing to each other.
