Who is the most mischaracterize character in the Honkai Star Rail fandom and why is it Yanqing?

I could go into detail about how the fanon likes to mischaracterize him. they'll call him a brat and overconfident for thinking he could beat Jingliu, Blade and Dan Heng. but it makes sense Yanqing is a prodigy which is why he's the youngest lieutenant in the history of the Xianzhou, Cloud Knights. (this can be found in this character story) and it also mention that "No one can best Yanqing when he holds a sword in hand."

people treat like he weak just because he lost against Jingliu, Blade and Dan heng. which is weird, do you want some "random" kid to be stronger than immortals who are more than twice his age. you claim these characters as strong but then call him Yanqing weak for losing agaisnt them. so it makes no sense to me, It kind of contradicts what your saying lol.

also Yanqing was only doing his job, yes Jing Yuan told him to not go after them. but he was still doing his job, it his job as the cloud knight lieutenant and he wants to prove himself to Jing Yuan. (This was only hinted at when 1.2 came out with these quests, but was confirmed later in the ghost event when Yanqing was getting manipulate/control by a heliobi/heliobus name Apyra).

and people are calling him a brat because of how he acted in his companion quest and the 1.2 quest even thought he was literally talking to wanted criminals so of course he's not going to be all rainbows and smiles. ignoring how nice he is outside of those fights/scenes.

in the 1.3 quest, Yanqing is seen trying to make sure Jing Yuan rests after his battle with phantylia. he even apologises to Jingliu for assuming she can't see due to her blindfold. Yanqing in his messages (not everyone gets this because it's only if you get hie character) stays in the rain with some kittens, and feels bad for them as he waits for the mother to return. and in most if not all other interactions that doesnt include villains, Yanqing is shown to not act bratty and even has good manners, and isn't rude.

also after the 1.2 quest, when Yanqing is a visitor to the astral express, he shown to be kind to Dan heng who he was agaisnt in the 1.2 trailblaze quest, wanting to know what Dan heng is interested in who he can talk to him. he evens fell bad when he thought he misspoke to Dan heng, saying this to Trailblazer "I was worried I spoke out of turn or upset him." and this "I'll keep talking to him — maybe I can eventually unlock his chattier side!", he clearly wants to be friends with Dan heng, and cares about people.

he considers Trailblazer a friend, even talking about the General says it "show proper etiquette...". and Yanqing wants to repay the Trailblazer but doesn't know how. and gives Trailblazer some beautiful stones he found. at the end of this conversation he says "The next time I'm here, I want to have more conversations, watch the universe, and eat some good food together with all of you!"

also i think it weird if you hate a character (not gameplay wise, I can understand why people don't like Yanqing's gameplay wise) because you lose a 50/50. you losing your 50/50 to Yanqing shouldn't make you hate his whole character. you're ignoring his character lore/personality over a game/wish.

also it stupid to hate Yanqing because of what he did in HI3, Yanqing character is completely different than his H13 counterpart/Expy (the original) because he hasn't done what he did in HI3 and it a completely different universe (think of the multiverse, if you're in a different version you won't be exactly the way because of different events happening and molding you)

now that we've reached the end of the fic, i will finally explain the beginning.

i named this piece after 大鱼, a song whose title means big fish. in the fic, jing yuan references void songs twice, which i imagine are the sounds that void song whales make. if you remember, yukong talks about these whales in her visitor dialogue. they swim freely through the stellar seas while their sibling species on the luofu has disappeared into history.

the sky is freedom and departure, and it is jing yuan, eventually. the sea is the dissolution of the self and the thing that will swallow him, and it is yingxing. the lightning is the portent of death, but also the electricity of being in love. the wine is the representation of shared wishes and togetherness and history. the starskiffs are the memorials of the past and the vessels into the empyrean. the fire is desire and destruction. the ink is the color of blade's hair and the sincerity of the letters jing yuan writes. the bandages and the iron are blade and the violence of his existence. the paper birds are the fragility of jing yuan's memories, which cannot be buried. the nightclothes are the vulnerability he will shed in the morning. the string is the red string of fate between renjing, but also the strings that tether jing yuan to the luofu and to his ending. the womb and the egg are the places of rebirth and the representation of returning to the beginning. the sun is the stellaron, and it is jing yuan before the sky and the sea consume him, and it is the end of the dream.

without this song, this fic wouldn't exist. every part of the two was intimately interwoven. in particular, the line about the thread of time was what made me certain it would be a nonlinear narrative and the mixing of the sky and the sea was the image that created the entire story.

i further drew from the lyrics the most important imagery, the idea of ending on the beginning, and the son's hand as not only yanqing but everyone jing yuan leans on today in order to support himself against the weight of history. i drew the themes of dreams and reality, the dialogue on leaving, and the breathless, surreal atmosphere of melancholy and yearning. but in addition to all of that there is a double meaning in this song to me.

the first time you hear it, you think it's about jing yuan. and it is, of course. everything is about him. he is the holder, the sleeper, the one submerging. but by the last verse, you realize it is also blade, talking to him as he walks into scalegorge waterscape. trying and failing to call him back from within the endless dream.

both of them were born to belong to the sky. only one of them truly died in it.

Jing Yuan x You (Angst) Honkai Star Rail

Your eyes did not leave the skies today; watching the clouds and time pass by. The tense in your muscles slowly loosen and you feel yourself dissociating from reality. The wind rustles your hair and clothes in a way that makes you want to float and lose into the way of nature. You no longer want to be in control of yourself; there was nothing that kept you from leaving the living world. And yet, your soul didn't want to leave this vessel in foolish optimism.

You blink when you felt a drop of water hit your nose. The sky had turned grey, the street lights were on, nobody was walking down the gravel pavement. You stood alone as you washed away your tears with the rain, soaking in the weather and the sadness that reminded you were human. Maybe the was enough to bring your feet back to the ground and remember that you were still alive without him.

Out of the blue, a warm hand rests on your shoulder. "Is that you, my love?"

Soft timbre and emotions overflowing his voice, your eyes widen at the familiarity. You don't need to turn around to know who this person was, you'd guess him by his touch or his voice. Yet, you meet your gaze with his and you felt your throat getting heavier by the minute at his face of hopeful sorrow.

"Jing Yuan?" You manage to speak out.

Strong arms wrap around you in an embrace. You feel yourself loose in his electrifying touch and earthy scent that you missed so much. Your hands gingerly hook themselves on the latter's back and you bury further in him. The rain felt cold but at the moment you felt so warm.

"I can't believe it is you." He whispers, with so much effort, words hardly escaping his lips. "I've missed you so much."

I missed you too. You wanted to say but tears choked your throat.

"I thought I had lost you. People thought I was going crazy; crazy to search for you through every corner of the universe. I couldn't hear your voice. It was so hard for me to keep going."

"Why?" Your voice was shaking. "You know I do not have much time."

"I know. But I promised to be with you throughout lifetime, therefore I will stay by your side."

"Even when I slowly stop walking? When I slowly fade away with time, I will forget you. I won't be able to talk to you."

With no hesitation, Jing Yuan answered. "I will be by your side always. Even if you slowly lose your memories, I will stand by you. Will you let me?"

His golden gaze remained on you. And it reminded you of the days when the two of you lived so happily.

"What a silly question, Jing Yuan." You raise a hand to touch his cheek. "You know I can never say no to you; I am yours, in this lifetime and the others that would come."

He smiles so softly that you wished you could have this view forever.

"Can I have this dance with you?" He asks with a kiss on the back of your hands.

With a blush, you answer. "It would be my pleasure."

And the two of you glide your steps slowly to each other, looking into each other's eyes under the serenity of the quiet rain and the street lamp spotlight.

Maybe this could be your last dance, maybe this could be the last time you could feel the ground beneath you, but you didn't care, after all it was your last time with Jing Yuan.

How to Make the Most of a Rainy Day(SFW)

Prompt for Honkai Star Rail: Rainy day in bed cuddles. One in the mood for tickles and trying to get them from the other. 

Pairing: Jing YuanxDan Heng

Synopsis: On a stormy day Jing Yuan is living up to his moniker Dozing General a bit too much. Dan Heng feels he should challenge that title and make the most of this quiet moment indoors.

Quiet.

With the sound of rain and thunder pounding outside, it was the worst weather to be out in if you were trying to run errands and complete tasks and objectives. Yet, it was the best type of weather if you were indoors, in a dark cool bedroom wrapped in the embrace of your lover sleeping so soundly.

A wonderful way to enjoy a lazy and relaxing day in bed after a long mission.

Dan Heng was starting to stir, yet refused to get up from his current position. He laid curled against Jing Yuan, the general having his arms wrapped around his waist, providing an ample amount of warmth that made him snuggle more into his embrace, sighing contently. Though as he laid there he felt himself begin to wake up more.

“Mmn..” Jing Yuan barely stirred and only pulled Dan Heng closer, his sigh tickling Dan Heng’s ear as the air whistled past.

The raven released a quiet chuckle as he gazed at the general in fondness and amusement. “You’re really living up to the moniker of Dozing General…” he reached up and brushed bangs from his brow. “Jing…” The other still did not stir leaving Dan Heng to quietly stare at the other. Making a note of certain things as he continued gentle caresses across his face. He smiled when the other’s brow twitched at his touch. He trailed his finger light to the bridge of Jing Yuan nose and the man groaned lightly. “Jing Yuan…how long do you plan to sleep?” He asked softly sitting up.

“Mnn…” Jing Yuan opened one eye, still full of sleep, as he gazed at the raven with all the warmth. “Are we due to be anywhere any time soon?” He asked his voice groggy and low, tinted with teasing.

Dang Heng raised a brow at his question. “Uh…No.” As soon as he answered he gasped as he was pulled back down into the covers. “Jing Yaun do you really plan to sleep all day?” He asked, only to blush as his forehead was kissed.

Grinning, he moved close and whispered in his ear. “No, I plan to spend all day with you…Right here… In this room.” He nipped at his ear, chuckling when the raven flinched. “And maybe fall asleep again.” He nuzzled his face in the crook of his neck.

A puff soft laughter left him as his neck was nuzzled. “We can’t stay in bed all day…”Dang Heng rolled his eyes yet his stare softened as he ran fingers through his long white hair. It was moments like these that he enjoyed, content he was the only one privy to them. He blinked and began to squirm when he felt little kisses and nibbles to his neck making him release small puffs of chuckles. “Pft…haha J-Jing!”

“Mnn…Can’t we…” He mumbled against his neck as he continued his actions.

The raven didn’t mind the actions, in fact he very much enjoyed the cuddling and tickles he received. The playful touch wasn’t requested by word of mouth but more with action. Sometimes Jing Yuan had this knack to be too perceptive in picking up his unspoken requests. 

So, if they were going to spend the day like this together in each other's arms whispering some words here and there, with some teasing added. 

He wasn’t against being in bed all day.

“Zzz…”

“Ah Jing? Jing Yuan? Are you sleeping?” A light snore and mumble was his answer. “You started and didn't even continue…” He mumbled flicking the charioteer on the nose, watching as he scrunched up his face, but did not wake up. 

‘That won’t do.’ Dang Heng thought with a small sigh. He really wanted for things to continue. He could go read, or go to the training hall, or-.

No.

He didn’t feel like training or reading. Smiling with a bit of coyness, Dan Heng had something much better in mind.

Teasing his lover awake.

Dan Heng adjusted in his lover’s grasp, from the position they were in, it would be easy to carry out what he wanted. To begin, he let a finger trace a feathery path from his cheek to his brow.

“Mnn…” Jing Yuan mumbled hiding his face in Dang Heng’s neck. “Dan-Dan…quit…” was the tired response before the general was snoring again.

Perking up only to deflate, Dan Heng thought of what to do next. “Hmm…?” Ah, his ear was peekng out from white tresses. Eyes sparkling he let his finger scratch under the ear lobe before dragging along the shell he was pleased when Jing Yuan flinched.

“Erm…” Jing Yuan released a breathy laugh yet did not stir further, only rubbing his ear.

Dan Heng let his other hand trail to his side clawing lightly and dragging his nails down his back, he could feel the white haired man flinch with each light tickle he gave. Usually he was the one on the receiving end, so to find out that his dear dozing general was ticklish too. Heh, this was better than any training or book. “Hmm...won’t you wake up?” He asked softly blowing on a pale ear, and his fingers lightly dancing down to his lower back.

“Pft..hrmf…” A grumbled chuckle left past his lips. As Jing Yuan wiggled his body to get away from his touch, Dan Heng hands followed. Alternating between soft and hard tickles, his hands moving fast one moment then slowly.

“Hahaha…” The deep and velvety laughter that he loved came forth. “D-Dahaha-stop thahahat…” His body shook adding to Dan Heng mirth.

“Mnn stop what?” He asked softly, whispering in his ear and nipping his ear lobe. Suddenly his hands were seized and pinned and he was staring up into gilded gold.”Ah…oh… you woke back up.”

“You mean you woke me up,” Jing Yuan responded, laughter still present in his voice. “It seems I need to entertain you…throughly.” He emphasized his soothing voice masking his mischief.

“You don’t have to,” Dan Heng said though his words were the opposite of what he wanted.

Jing Yuan shook his head.“Oh no no dearest,” His voice still held sleep but all the promise to return what was given. “Who am I to deny my lover attention that he obviously craves.” He leaned in close releasing Dan Heng’s hands. “I’m quite surprised by such pluck, but I’ll happily give you what you want.” He purred in Dan Heng’s ear, his hand slowly clawing his side traveling to his back.

Dan Heng was so caught up in his voice, he had no time to react. “Hgn pft-W-Wait…pft!” He bit on his lip to stop the laughter that wanted to spill out, his shoulders shaking as he squirmed to get out of the general’s hold.

“Oh? Are you trying not to laugh?” He moved his hands to his ribs. “That won’t do!” His soft smile remained as his hands dug into his sides and stomach.

“Haha! Mmnf haha!” breathy and smooth laughter left him in spurts as he twisted in the general’s hold, yet he never tried to push him away or stopping his actions. “Nhahahaha!”

“Oh it seems you like when I do this.” Jing Yuan vibrated his fingers in divuts of his hips, smiling at the way the raven’s face was flushed with tint of red. Also his laughter wasn’t boisterous or overly loud, but quiet, airy, and not too deep. There was also a hiccup in his laugh each time he pinched his hips. Chuckling as Dan Heng turned on his stomach, Jing Yuan couldn’t help, but curl his fingers against the Vidyadhara’s torso keeping up his tickling. At the same time, he kissed the back of his neck and tangling their legs together.

“Ahahaha ahh mnn J-Jing!” He put his face in the pillow to smother his laugh yet the kissing to his neck made him shiver in delight. Jerking slightly on initial contact, his clothes were thin, not providing ample protection as he felt the tickles starting. "A-aahah....ah!" He was instinctively holding it in as much as he could, but knew in no time that this man was skilled with his hands. "Eheheheh ahJihihihc-hic ahah oh ohh my goshhaha!" Giggles broke out soon enough, the raven's legs twisting and his arms finally coming in somewhat as a defense mechanism.

“Yes?” the general drawled out, his own ears heating up a little as he leaned down again, peppering the other man's neck in kisses to his hearts content. "Oooh tickle tickle mmmwah mwah mwah mwah hahaha!" He was delighted to keep this up, hands working to get under the man and tickle at his belly, feeling his shirt riding up and aiming to taste that delicate skin with his fingertips. At the same time his opposing hand shot up into one of Dan Heng's armpits the second he had an opening.

“HYAH!” Shoot up like a stalk a silent yelp left Dan Heng and he squirmed trying to clamp his arm down. “Hahahaha plehehehease!” He bounced. "Nohohohooh!" As he laid there being tortured out of his mind late into the rainy day when both of them should be doing something productive.

Dan Heng felt himself grow warm and giddy at this physical attention he was getting. This is what he what he wanted and desired but he was too stubborn to confess or even demand such a thing. Despite loving the playful action from his lover, too shy to ask for something like this on the regular so he would simply tease or initiate the play. Always loved the reaction from his lover. "Puahaha JinGiGIHIHIHIHI!NOHOHOHOHOHO! STAHAHAHAHAP!" he cackled as his hips and knees were targeted. "It Tihihihickles!" He wiggled and squirmed.

“Hahaha it's supposed to tickle my Dan-Dan.” Jing Yuan laughed softly himself and toned down the tickles to rubbing. His warm gaze settled on the red face of the panting raven beauty before him. “My how the tables have turned heh,” He gave a sweet kiss to panting lips. “I’ll give you a break for now, yet later I’m going to explore more of those tickle spots on you.”

Dan Heng gave a small grin as he released snickered at the idea. “Mnn, haah that’s fine,” he reached up caressing his cheek. “At least, I know how to keep you awake.” He said with some coyness making the general chuckle before they were wrapped up in each other’s arms again.

The storm outside continued to rage, yet the sound of quiet whispers of words and the occasional laughter filled the room adding to the atmosphere.

Personality - Comes off as very taciturn as hardly speaks but always observing. Usually will talk if there's a cat nearby but only to the cat,sees a flaw that bothers him,or sees friends. He is super friendly and makes an effort to check up on those he calls friends. Other side of him is well…sleepy. He has a common problem with falling asleep anywhere but in class during teaching time. Nothing is wrong with him,he just says he is so tired. Has an angry sleepy mode if get on his bad side,most say he goes into a commander type vibe…it's scary but exciting to some. His sleepy expression has him always looking at you with bedroom-like eyes but he is just sleepy…most of the time.

Bio - A sleepy man of kinda unknown origin. Often seen talking to Diasomnia students so friends with a lot of them. His fuzzy poof of hair is signature to knowing who he is if stumble upon him. Usually a random cat or two will be snuggled on his lap. It's common to find him asleep somewhere just like a certain feline man that has a colorful relationship with him. He is like a different person in class when lessons going on as active,attentive,and answering all the questions right. Super good standing student overall,can't seem to find any faults in this man but maybe there's something hidden underneath the poof? Who knows…

Other Facts

Just note I am spelling his name in the way chinese names usually are so Guan is not his first or surname its his last/family name. Zǐ-Xīn is his first name and I added the pronunciation for it above the best I think it's said but I may be wrong I did research but may not been enough I try.

Zǐ-Xīn's normal familiar is his pet lion,Kei who he obtained from being scammed but she was a little cub and he couldn't ignore how cute she was so kept her. She is now fully grown and has a family of her own in the wild so he goes to visit her but never summons her away from them.

Only when his hair gets wet from rain or maybe sweat from him working out that you may get a rare glimpse at his ears which are pointy indicating he is of fae relation.

He has a small cute little mole under his left eye but usually can't see it as hair covers his left eye often.

Calls Lilia chief,commander,and other titles that mean someone of high rank…but says it's just for fun.

Talks about Sun Jian as if they have been long time friends but only known him for a little while and sometimes corrects himself as he forgets to say he is talking about another who he won't say name of but is similar to him so is why he likes being near him.

Has an interesting relationship with the Savanaclaw dorm leader as is quite fond of him and had the bravery to pet his head which caused a mess of problems but he still can't hate him and actually adores still.
