Although people dream of jetting off on an international tour, they need adequate information and knowledge to plan such a trip. Moreover, people need more time to plan such an elaborate trip. However, you can seek help from international holiday packages that aim at making the process simpler. There are several such travel partners whom you can trust with your dreams for an international tour. Not only will you get all the help in chalking out the minute details, but you will also get access to expert advice.
Benefits of International Holiday Packages
Convenience and time-saving
People often opt for a world trip package while planning international tours because it saves a lot of time. When planning such a trip, you must book flights, hotels, locations to visit, etc., which require a lot of time.
Expertly curated itineraries
You no longer have to navigate the locations you want to travel or decide the places you want to visit. When you choose a travel agency or tour package, they plan your visits. They have all the expertise and knowledge of local regions, so they can best suggest the places you must visit on your trip.
Cost-effectiveness
A tour package also saves a lot of money. While choosing individual items, people tend to overspend. But when you opt for a package, you get all the services in one go. Such packages include essential services. Often, travel agencies have partnerships with trusted agencies and can even get accommodation or transportation at discount prices.
Tips To Make The Most Out Of Your International Trip
As you know, the first step towards planning a successful trip is choosing an appropriate world trip package. However, there are several other factors that you must consider while taking an international trip.
Prepare your travel documents.
You must visit different countries with your passport or visa. Therefore, applying for all necessary documents beforehand is best to avoid any obstacles.
Research your destination
International trips can be a wholesome experience only when familiar with the places and localities you will visit. Although spontaneity is more exciting, what makes more sense is to do some prior research on the location you want to visit.
Handling Money Matters
First of all, you must inform your bank about your travel endeavours. This will help them avoid any suspicion of fraud. Secondly, you must consult with the travel agency on the type of payment options they accept.
Compare your options
Before you select a travel agency, you must analyze the accommodation and travel options they offer. By analyzing each, you can clearly see the costs, feasibility, and more.
Conclusion
An international tour is a must on the bucket list of all travellers across the globe. But without opting for international holiday packages, such trips can get hectic and troublesome. Therefore, before jetting off, you must contemplate all the tour packages available and choose one to facilitate a smooth and comfortable travel to different places. But one must consider several other factors, such as preparing travel documents, researching a destination, and more.
FAQs
How can you make an international trip easier?
You can always opt for a world trip package to make the trip around the world more accessible and more cost-effective. These packages will make your trip more convenient and help you enjoy your time better.
What are the essential documents for an international tour?
You must have your passport, visa, identification documents, and more ready before taking up any international travel. For this purpose, you must apply for all such documents long before your travel date to ensure you get all the files at the right time.

author’s note: hiiii me again after many moons of zero contact with this lovely website. sorry for taking so long, hopefully i’ll stay a while this time lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
It’d been nearly four weeks of back-to-back hunts. This was the seventh motel you and the two Winchesters had been at this month and you were almost ready to call it a night.
“I’m gonna wash this wraith stench off of me,” you told Dean. You then added quietly so John—who was sitting at the table and cleaning his guns—wouldn’t hear; “Would you like to join me, handsome?”
“More than anything,” he whispered before he bent down and kissed you. John coughed loudly, and you weren’t sure if it was just a perfectly timed accident or a purposeful guilt trip. It was most likely the latter. “But… I think it’s better if I don’t, sweetheart.”
You smiled sadly with a small nod; “Next time, then,” you assured him. You looked up into his eyes and noticed the tiredness laced with the usual burden he carried. He blinked unusually slowly as if he was trying his damndest to stay awake, and you furrowed your brows. “How about you head to bed, you can shower after you get some sleep.”
“It’s alright, I’m not that tired,” he said.
“Hey, are you feeling okay?” you asked him, barely above a whisper so that John wouldn’t hear.
John didn’t like you. He didn’t really trust your intentions with his son, and he thought you were just a distraction that would end up getting Dean killed if he wasn’t careful. He didn’t like how easily Dean would get ‘all giggly’ when he was near you, and he didn’t like that his son kept his guard down when he was with you.
He didn’t like the matching rings you wore, or that you too often referred to the other as husband or wife when a stranger would ask. You weren’t married, you were his fucking girlfriend and John fully believed you wouldn’t still be together by the time Sam finished his first four years at Stanford.
“I’m fine,” he replied, matching your quiet tone. “I’ll shower right after you so don’t use up all the hot water, okay?” There was a teasing smirk on his face which made your worries subside temporarily.
“I promise to leave you some,” you said before you kissed him once more.
**
“Dean are you okay?” you asked, seeing the far-off look in his eyes when you left the bathroom.
“Yeah, I uh…” He rubbed his eyes as he tried to again focus on your face. He looked over at his dad, who raised a brow at his eldest son. “I’m fine, sweetheart.”
You followed his line of sight and pursed your lips when you saw John.
“Dean says he’s fine, drop it Y/n,” he told you.
Against your better judgment, you decided not to ask Dean again. With your hair still wet from the shower, you took the brush from your bag and started fixing it.
“Aren’t you gonna shower, babe?” you asked Dean, who hadn’t moved an inch.
“Uh, yeah,” he said. He started to kick off his shoes when he tripped and fell straight to the floor, his cheek now pressed against the carpet.
“Dean!?” you exclaimed and hurried over to him. You fell to your knees and took him into your arms, shaking him gently in hopes he’d just wake up. “Dean? Dean, honey, please? J-John he’s not waking up!” You pressed your lips to his temple; “C’mon, Dean!”
John had left his spot on the couch and was now hovering over you, as you looked up at him desperately.
“Is he breathing?”
“Yeah,” you replied, tears slipping down your cheeks. John helped you lay Dean down so he could check his breathing.
“He seems fine,” John deduced. “Is there a wound we missed or something?”
“W-We need to call an ambulance,” you said and rushed to grab your phone off the nightstand.
“Y/n, Dean wouldn’t want us to call the cops,” John replied. He seemed a little too calm for your liking, so you weren’t about to let him call the shots regarding Dean’s wellbeing.
“I don’t care, we’re getting him to the fucking hospital,” you said as you dialed and made your way back to Dean. “Now hide your goddamn guns before the paramedics get here—I need an ambulance at the Rosebud Motel room 302, my husband just collapsed unexpectedly.” You ignored the look John gave you when you called Dean that. The operator asked questions and you answered each one; “Yes, he’s breathing… No, no bleeding… He’s twenty-five… Uhm, I’m not sure…” You pulled the phone from your ear; “Has he had anything to drink yet tonight?”
John was putting away the guns and paused to think before he shrugged; “I dunno, I wasn’t watching.”
Your eyes widened and your teeth clenched, the fucking audacity. Looking at the table you saw three opened beers so you made an educated guess when you answered the 9-1-1 operator.
“He might’ve had a beer or two, but he’s not a lightweight, he’d never pass out after two beers… Yes, his dad is in the room with me… Yes, I can stay on the line.” You took in a shaky breath as you brought his hand to your lips and kissed his knuckles.
“Just stay calm, ma’am, help is on the way.”
“I’m trying,” you replied, tears streaming down your cheeks as you kept his hand pressed to your lips. “Th-This isn’t like him, he’s–he’s always okay.”
**
You bounced your leg anxiously as you sat next to John in the waiting room. As you absentmindedly played with the ring on your right ring finger, you couldn’t help but think of the time when Dean had told you how much you truly meant to him almost three years ago.
* flashback *
“I got you a present.” His smile was adorable as he sat next to you on the couch. He saw your face light up and felt the need to downplay the gift; “It’s nothing much, don’t get too excited.”
“Dean, you could give me a dirty sock and I’d love it,” you teased, placing a quick kiss on his pink lips.
“Well… this is like one teer above ‘dirty sock’, I think.” He smirked and handed you the small velvet box.
You opened it and your jaw fell open; “Oh my god, Dean!”
“I know how much you like mine,” he said quietly.
“I do like yous,” you took his right hand in yours and kissed the ring on his finger, “I love yours, Dean.”
“Well, this one is exactly like mine.” He smiled. “Except it’s in your size, obviously, so we can… you know… match.” You took the ring out of the box and admired it for a moment. You were about to put it on but he stopped you; “May I do the honors, sweetheart?” he asked. You couldn’t help the giggle that escaped your lips as you nodded and he took it from you. He slipped the ring onto your right ring finger before he kissed your hand.
“I mean this in the most genuine way possible; this is by far the best gift anyone has ever gotten me, Dean! Ever!”
A sheepish blush was forming on his cheeks as he leaned over and kissed your lips; “I love you so much.” He pulled away so he could look at you; “And, I want you to know this isn’t a regular gift.”
“Yeah?” you asked, your smile growing.
“Yeah,” he replied and kissed you again. When he pulled away again he chickened out a little and didn’t say what he was going to. “You’re twenty-one, which means you can now legally drink in all fifty states.” He stood up, pulling on your hand gently so you would follow him to the kitchen. He took two beers out of the fridge and put them on the table. He used the ring on his finger to easily open one then handed the other to you. “Why don’t you give it a try.”
It took you a few tries but you managed to open the beer using the ring he just gave you; “Okay, now that’s awesome!”
“Happy birthday, sweetheart!” Dean said and you clinked your beers together before you both started drinking them. As he brought the bottle down from his lips, he watched as you kept drinking and smiled to himself. He suddenly felt the courage he felt when he bought the ring and decided to tell you his thoughts; “You know you’re the only girl for me, right?” You nodded with a smile. “I don’t just mean ‘for now’ I mean like forever. That’s the real meaning behind the ring, I love you and I want to be with you for the rest of our lives.”
You couldn’t help the happy tears beginning to sting your eyes as you looked up at him; “Forever?”
“Forever.”
* end of flashback *
You were shaken back to cruel reality by the sound of John’s voice beside you; “What’s taking them so long? We’ve gotta get back on the fuckin’ road.”
“Are you fucking serious right now?” you scoffed and looked at him. “Dean might be in serious trouble, and you’re thinking about the next hunt!?”
“Dean’s gonna be fine.” He rolled his eyes.
“We don’t know that,” you replied. You again started fiddling with the ring Dean had given to you.
“You know that ring doesn’t make you two husband and wife,” John commented.
You stood up abruptly, not wanting to say what was running through your head; Yeah, and Dean being so fucking perfect doesn’t make you a good father.
“Dean Smith’s next of kin?” the doctor asked.
“I’m his wife, this is his dad,” you said. “H-How is he?”
“He’ll be fine,” she replied. “He has a very minor concussion from when his head hit the floor, but he just needs some rest.”
“What happened?” John asked.
“He fainted from over-exhaustion, he’s gonna be okay.”
“Over-exhaustion?” You furrowed your brows, placing a hand over your chest. “B-But he’s been eating fine? A-And sleeping as much as me, I think?”
“Actually,” John interrupted, “he’s been helping me with research at night, he doesn’t sleep as much as you.”
Never in your life had you wanted to knee John Winchester in the balls as badly as you wanted to at that moment.
“How many hours a night are you sleeping, hun?” the doctor asked you.
“Like three to five… every other night,” you admitted. “And that’s always been enough! If it wasn’t, Dean could’ve just taken a nap he didn’t have to—fuck.”
“Can we see him?” John asked.
“He’s still asleep but yes, you can go and see him,” she replied.
On the way to Dean’s room, you kept wondering how this all happened—how did Dean get so fucking tied he collapsed!? If he was staying up at night, why didn’t he just sleep in the car? You would’ve happily driven Baby, and it’s not like you hadn’t done that before—Dean’s love language was sharing that fucking car.
“This hasn’t ever happened before, right?” you asked John.
“Never,” he replied. “Guess Dean’s just not as strong as he used to be.”
“Excuse me?” you seethed and stopped in your tracks, pulling John to a halt as well. “Dean is a fucking hero but he is not a machine, he’s a fucking human being who’s been treated like a soldier since he was six-fucking-years-old!”
“If you wanna say something, fucking say it!” John exclaimed.
“Oh, I am saying it! How fucking dare you work him so hard that he lands in the fucking emergency room!”
“We all know in this line of work, we have to do what we have to do!”
You slapped him hard across the face and your eyes widened when you realized what you did.
“Dean is your son,” you said, quickly changing your facial expression back into one of pure rage. “He is your fucking child and you’ve been treating him like shit for far too long. He deserves better, he doesn’t deserve to be so fucking exhausted that he collapses.”
You walked away and into Dean’s room. Seeing him lying in the hospital bed made your heart break as tears welled in your eyes.
“Oh god,” you mumbled. “Dean.” You quickly pulled up a chair so you could sit next to his bed and patiently wait for him to wake up. John did the same, though he seemed annoyed by the fact Dean was still asleep.
You weren’t sure how long had passed before John got fed up; “Can you press the button for the nurse so we can ask when he’s supposed to wake up?”
“I think we should just let him sleep, don’t you?” you whispered, not knowing if Dean had been sedated or if he was just resting like normal.
“I didn’t ask for your opinion, I told you to call the damn nurse,” he said, raising his voice which caused Dean to stir awake.
“Hey sweetheart,” Dean said groggily, his eyes half-hooded as he brought your hand to his lips and placed a kiss on your knuckles. He then dropped your hand and rubbed his eyes to wake himself up. “This isn’t the motel,” he realized. He noticed John sitting at the other side of the bed and he sat up a little, trying to somewhat compose himself. “Wh-What happened?”
“I’ll fill you in,” John said. “Y/n, why don’t you go grab us some coffee so I can talk with my son?”
All your instincts told you not to leave the two Winchesters alone but what choice did you have? You didn’t want to start another fight with John, you were tired too, and you didn’t want Dean worrying.
“Yeah, sure,” you said. You took the time to bend down and place a loving kiss on Dean’s forehead, causing him to smile. “No coffee for you though, you need more sleep,” you told him before you left the room.
About ten minutes later you walked back in and the sight practically made your eyes bulge out of your skull as your jaw flew open.
“What the hell do you think you’re doing?” you asked and placed the two cups to the side.
“Dad said there’s a hunt,” Dean said matter-of-factly. “I can sleep in the car or something, let’s go.” He started to stand up so you pushed him back down.
“How fucking dare you!” you exclaimed at John, who stood on the other side of the bed. “How dare you tell him to suit up right now! He is staying here in this hospital, and he is getting some goddamn sleep!”
“That is not your decision,” John replied. “If Dean says he’s fine, then he’s fine.”
“You realize those are the exact words you said to me before your son collapsed, right?” you scoffed. “Dean lay back down now,” you told him as you began taking his boots off. “You are staying here for the night, you understand me?”
“Don’t you boss him around!” John exclaimed. “Dean and I are leaving here now.”
“You can leave if you want to, but Dean is staying put!” you replied, matching his tone.
“No, he is not!” John yelled.
You’d never fought with John like this, usually yelling and getting yelled at made your eyes tear up in the most inconvenient way. But this? Dean’s health? You were not about to back down. Not one single tear dared to appear in your eyes as you looked at John with such anger you wanted to slap him across the face… again.
“Why don’t we get a third opinion?” you suggested.
“Yeah, Dean, do you wanna sit here like a pussy or do you wanna go save some fucking lives?” John turned to look at him.
“Don’t answer that,” you said quickly. “I meant, let’s call the nurse and see what they have to say about it.”
Before John could protest, you walked over and pressed the button. It took half a minute—during which you and John stared daggers at each other—but soon the nurse walked in.
“How is everyone?” she asked, noticing the tension in the room.
“Do you think this young man here can leave yet? He’s doing fine and wants to go home,” John said.
“Let me check his chart,” she replied before doing so. “I would have to no, he should definitely stay here and get some much-needed rest.”
“Is there a doctor—” John started but you stopped him.
“Goddamn it John!” you scoffed. “He is not leaving!”
“You are not his fucking family!” John shouted, much louder than before. “I am! You aren’t his wife, you aren’t his sister, you aren’t his fucking mother—you are just his current girlfriend, and believe me that’ll fucking change in a heartbeat. You are not in charge of what Dean does, you are not family.” There was a short pause as your eyes brimmed with tears yet you refused to let them fall. John sighed and continued; “I am Dean’s father, I know what’s best for him, and I say he’s packing his things and getting the hell outta here.”
The nurse looked absolutely shocked, her jaw hanging open. The look John gave her made her hurry out of the room.
“Dad,” Dean said, seeing the tears in your eyes. “Dad, you can yell at me all you want, I’m your kid but…” He exhaled shakily as John turned to look at him with a frustrated look. “But you can’t talk to her like that, you just can’t. You might not think of her as family but that’s on you, she is a part of my family, Dad. And yeah, we might not be legally married or whatever but she’s not just my current girlfriend? She basically is my wife, we’re not just… dating?” Dean looked at his father with a sense of desperation, John just had to apologize and you could all drop it. Of course, John, being a stubborn bastard, held his ground and crossed his arms authoritatively. “I-If you aren’t gonna take back what you just said to her y-you can go on this next hunt alone.”
“Excuse me?” John scoffed.
“You heard me,” Dean replied. “She’s everything to me and I can’t sit idly by while you talk to her like that.”
“So you’re talkin’ back to me now? Like Sammy?” John asked. “Refusing to take orders?”
“This isn’t about me, Dad!” Dean said, his face twisted with guilt. “You know I follow any orders you give, that I’m quick to obey. But you saying Y/n isn’t family? I-I’m sorry but I can’t let that slide, Dad.”
John huffed and abruptly left the room.
“I’m sorry,” you said to Dean the moment John was out of earshot.
“Me too.” Dean smiled sadly as you both wiped your eyes quickly.
“Why don’t we get these jeans off of you so you can be more comfortable?” you suggested patting his shin.
His brows shot up; “Really? Here? Now?”
“Dean, no!” you chuckled, shaking your head. “I meant comfortable so you can go to sleep!”
“Oh…yeah, that makes more sense.” His trademark cocky smile was back and that made your own smile return to your now tear-stained face.
“I’m serious about you staying put, you know.” You nodded toward his pants and he got the message.
“You can be real stubborn, you know that?” he laughed as he hurried and slipped his pants off. You folded them up and put them on the chair along with his belt. He shrugged off his jacket and you tossed it on top of where the pants sat.
“Get under the covers,” you said. He rolled his eyes playfully but he obliged nonetheless.
“Happy?” He smiled when he was comfortable in the bed.
You nodded; “I love you, Dean.” You leaned down and placed a kiss on his lips, causing his smile to turn more genuine.
“Hey,” the doctor interrupted as she walked into the room, “Nurse Roberts just told me about the little outburst… everything okay in here?”
“Yeah, just a little misunderstanding is all,” you replied. “But it’s all settled—Dean’s staying the night.”
“That’s good to hear,” she said with a smile. “I’ve gotta be honest I’ve never seen anything like this.”
“What do you mean?” you asked, clearly anxious about her statement.
“I just meant that your husband is very healthy,” she assured you; “I’ve never seen a young, healthy man like him just collapse from over-exhaustion.”
“First time for everything I guess,” Dean laughed nervously.
You glared at him; “Not funny, babe.”
“She’s right,” the doctor backed you up. “Now, whatever you’ve been doing recently that caused you to lose this much sleep, get this stressed you need to quit it right here, right now.”
“It’s our job, we can’t just… quit,” you said. “But I will definitely keep a closer eye on him from now on, make sure he’s getting enough sleep.”
“You can’t put this all on her, you understand me, Mr. Smith?” She looked at Dean before he nodded shyly. “Mrs. Smith you need to fix your own sleeping habits as well — if you both don’t smarten up and take better care of yourselves, you will definitely be right back here before the end of the year. You got that?”
“Yes, ma’am,” Dean said.
“Good.” She nodded. “Now, I’m gonna give you a small dose of a mild sedative to help you fall asleep, alright?” She said as she made her way over to Dean’s IV bag to give him the sedative. “You ripped this out the second you woke up, didn’t you?” She asked him when she realized the needle was no longer in his arm. “You two, I swear!” She started preparing to simply inject Dean with the sedative but you stopped her.
“Is there maybe like a pill equivalent to what you’re giving him? He doesn’t really like needles,” you said.
“There is, would you prefer that?” she asked Dean, and he nodded vigorously. “Alright, I’ll go and grab that for you then. Mrs. Smith the chair in the corner folds out into a small bed if you two don’t want to share one.”
“Oh, that’s alright, I’m not tired,” you said.
She gave you a look; “Seriously? Hun, what did we just talk about?”
“I get that, but I know Dean’s not gonna sleep properly if he doesn’t feel safe.”
“This is a hospital, it’s safe,” she said.
“Sorry,” you said with a small shrug, and again she sighed.
At that moment, John decided to walk back into the room, making your breath hitch a little before the doctor left to get the meds for Dean.
“It’s alright, you two get some sleep; I’ll keep watch,” he said as he made his way over to the chair and sat down.
“You sure, dad? I thought you said there was a job nearby?” Dean asked.
John looked at you and smiled ever-so-slightly. Maybe it was something you had said to him, maybe John didn’t want you being alone with Dean while he was so weak, or maybe there never was a job and he didn’t have anything better to do than stay with his son.
For whatever reason, John Winchester sighed and answered; “You’re more important, Dean. Your safety is more important. Now quit whining and get some sleep.”
Dean pulled the covers back, silently asking you to join him in the bed and, of course, you obliged. You gave him a quick kiss on the lips before getting comfortable in his arms.
“I love you, sweetheart,” he said, kissing your temple.
“I love you more,” you replied, making him let out a soft laugh.
“You always gotta one-up me, huh?” he chuckled.
“Uh-huh,” you giggled. His arms tightened around your frame as he tucked your head under his chin. John couldn’t help but feel a twinge of guilt for treating not only you but his own son so poorly. Every time John saw Dean be this relaxed and happy, you were always the cause. Maybe that wasn’t such a bad thing.
By the time the doctor got back about seven minutes later, you and Dean were both fast asleep; the latter letting out snores that gently moved your hair with each breath. She smiled a little at the sight and decided to duck back out of the room so as not to wake you two.

Tumblr media
Your husband had been acting strange lately.
Not the typical mid-life crisis kind of strange. There was no new Ferrari parked in the garage, nor had Chris begun to dedicate his time to a niche hobby like roller skating. His behavior was much more... off-putting than those things would be. That was the only way you could think to describe it.
It all began at the beginning of this last Summer when he came home from a short mission.  The trip spanned two weeks and took him up to a sparse, expansive piece of the Canadian wilderness. You weren't especially worried about him while he was gone. You were more upset about the fact that he was going to miss your wedding anniversary than anything else.
Your lack of concern didn't come from a place of callousness. Rather the opposite. You'd been an agent too. It was how you and Chris met. Before a stray bullet to your thigh knocked you out of commission, you had field assignments of your own. You knew that they were only made more stressful when you had someone at home you know worries about you.
So you never did. You trusted that he'd come back to you in one piece like he always does.
This time he did come back in one piece. Walked through the front door like usual with his bag slung across his back and his arms ready for you. You crossed the foyer and sprung yourself against his chest, your smaller arms wrapped around his bulky abdomen.
"I missed you, baby," he murmured, pecking your temple and engulfing you with his thick arms, "My beautiful wife of... how many years is it now?"
You rolled your eyes at the joke and tapped his arm. It was when you followed him back to your bedroom to put his stuff down that your eyes widened and caught on his forearm.
"Jesus! What happened to you?" you asked and took the limb in your hands.
Just below his elbow was a sizable bite. You could tell the type of injury from the crescent pattern of the cuts. If you had to guess, you'd say it probably came from a dog, but you'd never seen a canine with a jaw so large. The wounds were deep red, scabbed over by this point. The nearby skin glowed with the color of injury. You could tell whatever had got him, sunk its teeth in deep.
He looked down at the afflicted area and then back at you before shrugging. "It's nothing. You know how it goes. Those things can be rabid, but I'll heal up in a few days."
Your pupils continued to scan his flesh uncertainly. "I guess..." you conceded.
His statement was true. That wasn't your problem. Of course, you'd seen him with bites before. You'd even been bitten yourself on the job. But it never looked like this. So... gruesome. Upon looking closer, you could see tiny sprawls of plum-tinted veins accompanied by dark patches of discolored skin.
"They treated you, right? You're sure it's not infected?" you checked again.
"Honey, it's fine. C'mon, I know you missed me, but you don't gotta freak out about this," he dismissed in kind.
Despite his claims, he let you fuss over him. You were hesitant to even touch the markings, afraid of causing him pain or irritating the skin further.
He didn't seem to be hurting though. In his recovery, he never complained of aches or stings or throbs. Never held it closer to his body than normal or relied on his left arm to perform tasks. It did eventually heal. He was left with little white patches of scar tissue, but the other array of colors faded.
The only reason you had to believe that this incident triggered his change in behavior was that he began to act differently a few weeks later.
It started with his sleeping habits.
The Chris you knew slept the whole night through. Rested against your back, spooning you. His body heat radiated from him like a space heater for a solid eight hours every night. He'd wake up with his face nestled in the crook of your neck and plant a few kisses there before pulling away to get up and go about his morning routine.
But now he didn't even come to bed before you'd fallen asleep. His side of the mattress would be vacant when you woke up as well. At first it left you to question whether he'd been there at all. Now though, you're certain he's doing something else during the nocturnal hours. The only thing you couldn't figure out was what that other thing could be.
The next piece of this puzzle came in the way he started eating.
Since that mission, he seemed to have a craving for meat. Red meat. Burgers, steaks, whatever you had in the house. He wanted it all and in large portions. Not only that, but the way you cooked it didn't suit his tastes anymore. You sat across from him at the dinner table with wide eyes as he ate the food you'd prepared to his request. A steak so rare it looked like blood leaked from the raw slab out onto the plate.
Anytime you'd ask about any of this, he'd brush you off with a new excuse. He was just sleeping less now. He'd stayed up later playing a video game. He was waking up earlier to try a new running regime. The food thing was just something his friend told him about and he wanted to try. Supposed to build protein and lower your bmi or some bullshit.
That stuff you could have overlooked, but then he started to look different.
You wanted to blame his new diet for the sudden thickness with which his body hair grew. And perhaps his new workout schedule effected him as planned and could explain the way he was bulking up and nearly popping out of his shirts with gained muscle mass. You weren't so sure though.
If anything, you tried to pin this on your own mind. You were being paranoid. Life wasn't some horror movie. Monsters did exist, but you'd seen them already. They didn't look like this. Right?
And in his defense, not all the changes you'd noticed were bad. Your life in the bedroom had grown much more interesting since his return.
That day he came back, you figured it was his way of making up for your missed anniversary. He'd pounded into you for hours. Rutted into your poor little cunt till it was sore and puffy, struggling to take his thick shaft. What you would've believed to be an impossible amount of arousal coated your inner thighs and soaked the bed sheets beneath you by the time you were done. You knew he had stamina, but for those hours, Chris seemed like another animal entirely.
Every time since then had been similar. They didn't last as long as your reuniting session, but they were just as passionate. He was so much rougher than he'd ever been before. Typically, your husband was overly-cautious with you. Every move he made had his size and strength in mind when deciding the amount of force he'd use to manhandle your legs or snap his hips against your ass.
Now he fucked without a care in the world. His teeth scraped against your neck hard enough to mark. His fingertips left bruises accompanied by the scratches from his nails.
He also came inside you now every time without fail. Since you started taking the pill not long after the two of you started dating, that had always been his favorite place to release. But how he would do it lately... you didn't know any other word for it but primal. When he came, he buried himself inside you. Every inch of his cock filled the snug space between your walls. He growled as it shot out of him, rope after rope. He stuck to you like he wanted to make sure not a drop leaked out or went to waste.
So on that end of things, you didn't mind his shift in personality. It only became a problem when he started going out so often.
He told you a myriad of different places he went to or groups he hung out with, but you didn't believe him. You doubted Jill wanted to see him at ten p.m. on a Wednesday, and you struggled to accept Leon needed some form of help that took him eight hours of the night.
It was always dark out when he was gone, and then there would be certain days of the month that he didn't come back until well into the next morning. That was what drove you crazy. You'd never felt such distrust in your husband before. You always believed him to be faithful. You didn't worry about other women or being replaced or a number of other things your friends complained about with their spouses. You and Chris were a team.
But that vision shattered when you decided to test out the validity of his alibis one night. It hadn't been planned. You always thought loyalty tests were for insecure people, but you hoped that's all you were now. This was just a bout of insecurity, not anything to be truly worried about.
You saw Chris left his phone on the kitchen counter one night, and the idea just sprung into your head. As if the devil himself whispered the words into your ear, you typed out a message to Leon, the man he was supposedly hanging out with.
"Hey, Chris left his phone here. Will you let him know I'll just swing by to drop it off if he's gonna be with you for a while? If he'll be back soon, I can just wait. Thanks :)"
With a shaky thumb, you clicked the send button. You paced around your kitchen while waiting for the response. It didn't arrive instantly. Leon took around ten minutes to get back to you.
"Hey. Chris isn't with me tonight. I'm sorry."
Your legs came to a stop. You clutched both phones so tight that they were in danger of shattering. The ten minutes wasn't spent talking with your husband or doing whatever you thought they did together. It was probably Leon trying to decide if he should cover for him or be honest with you. At least he chose the latter.
You didn't send anything back to the D.S.O. agent. Instead, you went to bed, leaving Chris's phone on his bedside table. You curled up under your blankets. The emptiness of half the mattress caused you physical pain that night. Your eyes shut over the building gloss of tears.
That was a week ago.
Chris had still been going out every night and rotating in one of his friends' names as his unknowing accomplices.
Tonight, you decide that this is it. You're not going to be the sad little wife who's just happy she gets to keep the house while her husband goes out and plays with the other woman. You're done being fed lies and pretending you believe them. You're done being treated as disposable in your own marriage.
When he tells you he's leaving tonight, you say no. He's already been acting weird today, skittish and jumpy, constantly watching the clock. You aren't just going to sweep it under the rug this time. This conversation will get to the bottom of it.
You glare at him from where you're sitting on the couch, watching as confusion overtakes his features. Rarely are you ever firm with Chris. You know how to stand up for yourself, but he rarely gives you a reason to act any kind of strict.
"You're not leaving yet," you repeat.
His expression doesn't change. He stands at the beginning of the hallway to the front door, waiting for you to explain your sudden attitude. It's already getting late. The sky outside is pitch black except for the light of the full moon.
"Tell me where you're going," you demand.
"Out with Leon."
Your expression darkens. "Why are you lying to me?" you ask next.
He's got a phenomenal poker face because not a hint of doubt shows anywhere on his exterior. He doesn't look away, doesn't fidget. All he does is step closer to you, reentering the living room.
"Why would you think that?" he asks, voice calm.
"Because Leon told me you haven't been with him at all," you fire back and stand up. You bolster your proof with exaggeration, but you're confident enough that you're right.
Now a reaction does show on Chris. You can see his jaw clench and his gaze sharpen. This wasn't going to be as easy to talk his way out of as he thought.
"I really don't have time for this tonight," he says.
Your anger is getting ready to boil over into fury at his dismissal.
"Really? Because all I have anymore is time! You leave me here alone every single night! I feel like I barely see you anymore," you say, "I'm supposed to be your wife, but I feel like I'm the side piece at this point."
"You think I'm cheating on you?" he scoffs, disgusted by the suggestion alone.
"What else am I supposed to think?" you explode, raising your voice now, "You don't tell me anything! You just leave to who-fucking-knows where every single night and expect me to be fine with that? I'm not."
"Calm down," he says. His own voice grows firm. He glances down at the time on his watch. His pupils move quickly, looking almost antsy.
"Do you have somewhere else to be? Something more important than this conversation?" you ask incredulously.
"I told you I don't have time for this. We can talk tomorrow," he says. His words come out with more bite which just stokes the flames of your temper.
"No. You can just tell me now," you say and cross your arms, "If you leave without telling me anything, then maybe consider telling your girlfriend to prepare for you to move in with her soon!"
"Give me a fucking break! I am not cheating on you!" he snaps, letting his voice boom, "There is no girlfriend. There's no one else I'm going to!"
He looks more upset now. Some definite anxiety mixed in with his irritation. He looks like he just wants to get out. You wonder if it's the panic of you closing in on the truth or something else that's bothering him. It makes you soften your approach the smallest bit. You sigh.
"Just give me something then. Something that will give me some peace of mind," you reason. You'll accept a half answer at this point. All you want is some semblance of explanation as to why he's going out every night.
But all he does is stare at you. It brings your temper back up, the uncomfortable feeling rising between your lungs.
"Just one thing, Chris! One fucking thing."
"I can't." His voice is strained as if he's trying to keep calm.
"Why?" you ask, flinging your arms up in frustration.
"I just can't. We'll talk about it tomorrow," he says.
With that, he turns to leave. You stand there stunned. But the shock only lasts a moment.
"You're leaving because I'm right and you can't think of a lie so quick!" you shout at him.
He doesn't even look back at you. His steps thud down the hall to the exit of your home. You can't stand it. How could he do this to you? This isn't the man you married. That guy never would have treated you like this.
Before you can even think about it, you're dashing after him. As mad as you are, you can't just let him leave. You love him. Nothing in the world will hurt more than him leaving.
He's moving fast, determined to get out as swiftly as he can, but you're quick too. You'd spent years of your life chasing mutated creatures that could sprint on all fours. Catching up to your husband was nothing.
You reach out for his arm and grab him at his elbow. Your eyes widen at the intensity with which he reacts. He jerks away as if the touch burns.
"Stay away from me," he says. The words don't even sound like his voice. They come out so deep. Almost like a snarl.
Accusations of infidelity are forgotten at this point because all you can feel now is concern.
"Chris... are you alright?" you ask in a much softer voice than you'd been speaking with before.
You reach for him again, barely laying a hand on his shoulder. It's like the touch knocks him back. He nearly trips over his own feet, crashing against your front door but failing to get it open. His shoulders heave, muscles in his back convulsing. A light sheen of sweat breaks out across his forehead.
This time you figure it's best if you stay back. All you did was touch him, but he seems as if he's going to be ill. You stand a few feet away, watching him nervously. His arms come up to cover his face, which blocks your view and prevents you from guessing what's wrong.
"Honey?" you try again gently.
"Get away from me," he rasps, "Leave. Go far away before you can't."
You're back to being lost. You try to think of what this could be. Maybe PTSD? Was he having some sort of flashback? You had accidentally touched the bite.
"I'm not going to leave. You know you can trust me. I'm always here for you. I just want to understand," you coax.
"It's not you I don't trust," he says. He breaks down into a coughing fit and his back arches. It looks like he's trying to restrain himself.
"Just tell me what you need," you say quickly, determined to help him through this, "Anything. Do you need water? Do you need me to call someone?"
Truly, you're lost on possible solutions. This doesn't look like any common sickness you'd seen. It looks more like an infection someone would get in the field. And upon realizing that, panic strikes your heart.
You don't get the chance to voice any fear though because he speaks first.
"Just get out of here," he growls, "Everything you do makes it worse."
Your heart pounds in your ears. What could this be? Did he have some kind of virus and didn't tell you? Maybe his unit was treated with faulty drugs. What if he had lied about getting that bite looked at? Your mind swirls with all these thoughts, and your breathing speeds up to match their pace.
You step back a little, but you're still hesitant to go. Never leave a man behind. That'd been drilled into you since the day you enlisted. You couldn't just leave him to suffer or maybe die. Especially not this man, your man.
You're about to say something else. You take a deep breath and conjure some words of reassurance.
But it's too late.
By the time you look back at him, you see the hair on his arms coming in thicker. It sprouts out another inhumane inch. His nails rise a little bit. The panic inside you courses through your veins with more intensity.
"What's happening to you?" you choke out.
"I told you to go. I wanted to leave. But you told me to stay," he grunts, still trying to conceal his face.
You're stunned into silence, trying desperately to think of what to say. All that comes out are the same words, repeated with a deeper sense of urgency. "What's happening to you?"
He tries to respond, but a strained groan erupts from him.
His body spasms. The seams of his shirt split as his shoulders broaden and muscles puff out. You watch in horror as your husband seems to transform. And then he finally turns his face and looks into your eyes.
It's the stare of an animal looking at you.
Your hands fly to your mouth to muffle a cry you let out. For years, you thought you escaped your time as an agent mentally unscathed. Besides the occasional nightmare, you never dealt with flashbacks or survivor's guilt. Your damage was purely physical. The bullet to your leg had been it for you. But now, everything was rushing back. Every set of sharp, gnashing teeth. Every creature that lunged at you with its insides on the outside. Every person that should be dead stumbling towards you and trying to bite. All of them, running laps around your frayed mind.
The only thought you could conjure while looking at him was that one of those things was in your house.
You stumble backwards in terror, watching as he rises to his feet. He stands taller than normal. His tattered shirt falls away, his pants holding on by a thread. He's more hairy. His eyes look more intense.
"What are you?" you cry, hot tears beginning to roll down your cheeks.
His now-golden eyes continue to stare at you. The black slits his pupils had morphed into makes you nauseous. His chest is still heaving. It looks like he's resisting the urge to pounce on you.
"What's the matter? I thought you said we're in this together?" he growls.
"Chris!" you sob, "What is this? What did they do to you?"
"You know how it goes, baby," he manages to answer, "I got infected, and they don't know how to treat it yet."
"Why- why didn't you just tell me that?" you whimper, trembling violently.
"You think I wanted to see you looking at me like this? LIke I'm a goddamn monster."
"I'm sorry-" you say instantly, but he cuts you off. He's not interested in hearing that at the moment.
"I wouldn't cheat on you. I never would. I've been going out every night cause there's only two things that make this shit go away," he says, his words becoming more labored as he fights the urge to give into the infection.
"What are they?" you sniffle and wipe at your eyes.
"I go out every night to feed," he starts.
Another cry escapes you at the mere picture it puts in your head. There's no way in hell you're going to ask what - or rather who - he feeds on.
"But tonight, I can't because you didn't want me going out. So I guess we'll have to try the other thing," he rasps.
Your lip quivers violently. Why did he say we this time? You wait with baited breath to learn of your fate.
"You're gonna let me breed you," he says, eyes nearly burning two little holes into you with the heat in his gaze.
You feel like fainting at the idea. Your arms fall to your sides limply. Fear prickles up your spine and into your lungs. It feels like chains are wrapping around your torso, threatening to break your ribs. You could barely look at him like this. How were you supposed to...
"I- I don't know, Chris," you stammer out through tears.
"Well I do. We're gonna do this, or things are gonna get really ugly here," he says. It's a warning, not a threat, which makes it so much more real to you.
You're frozen again, unsure of what to do.
"I'll give you a head start. I need the chase," he says.
You stutter at first, unsure if you should take the opportunity to escape or try to reason with him some more. Though in the few seconds it takes you to contemplate this, it really looks like he's losing control, so you decide to take your chances running.
Whipping around, you bolt down the hall towards the back door. You'd have to leave that way since he was blocking the other point of exit. You plan your route in your head just like you used to during missions.
There's also always the alternate possibility of darting up the stairs and getting the gun from the bedroom, but you aren't sure if bullets work on him, let alone if you could bring yourself to use it. Even in this new form, you still love him. You don't want to lose him.
So instead you practically rip the backdoor off its hinges before prancing across the porch and into the yard. The air outside is cooler, bringing a chill over you as your feet pad through the soft grass below.
You're in the process of hopping over the fence when you hear the door crash open again. He's after you now.
Breaths leave you in harsh puffs. Your limbs go taut with the instinct to survive. Despite the laser focus of your mind, you still feel shrouded in fear. Where are you running to? What are you going to do when you get there?
You couldn't just run to a neighbor's house. Chris might tear through them like this, and you don't want anyone getting hurt. But there's nothing else. You don't live close enough to any place that could help. Whatever mutation he had would probably aid him in tracking you, so you doubted hiding was an option. He looks more than strong enough to scale a tree.
It doesn't seem like there's any way to escape, but you keep sprinting, hoping for a miracle.
You're fast, but you can still hear your husband barreling towards you from behind. You leap over a log in your way and twist around rocks. Out of the corner of your eye, you see the big chunk of wood go flying seconds later. Then you hear a whoosh in what you assume is him leaping the boulder.
A small whimper leaves you, but you still keep going. You run in a straight line to keep your speed up. Your eyes stay locked straight ahead. He hasn't caught you yet. You can do this.
But interrupting your internal pep talk, the muscles in your thigh seize up, and you shriek. You go toppling to the ground, hitting it with a hard thud. It knocks the wind out of you. Your fingers claw at the dirt as you gasp for air.
This is why you were taken out of the field after your injury. If this happened out there, you'd be seconds away from death.
Right now though, you don't die. In lieu of the force of mortality, your husband crashes on top of you. You scream when he knocks into you. His large arms wrap around your body as the two of you roll across the grass. The struggle ends with him on top, grinning down at you with sharp canines in view. His chest puffs with the exertion it took to get here.
When you catch sight of his face, you wail louder. His features are somehow more pronounced, and a pair of pointed ears have sprouted atop his head. This is worse than any nightmare you've had before. You thrash beneath him, smacking your fists against his chest and jabbing your knees into his sides.
None of your fighting affects him. He wrestles your arms into place with ease and gets your legs to stop with his own, handling you as if you're merely throwing a silly tantrum.
"My sweet little wife," he rasps as he brings his face down to nose at your neck. He groans, his hips bucking as he takes in a breath of your scent. "You tried so hard, but you knew you wouldn't win."
His hand snakes down to massage the cramping muscles in your thigh. He knows just how to soothe them. Even with the rougher quality of his skin and longer nails, his digits move like they did just after you got surgery. Must be muscle memory.
He coos at your tears, nuzzling them away. "Shh, shh, shh, little one," he hushes, "You're gonna be fine. There's no safer place for you than with me."
You keep turning your head away, not wanting to look at him like this.
"Keeping those pretty eyes closed won't save you," he says.
You whimper, now trying to squirm away from him. Like before, he simply wrangles you back into place. He holds you down with one forearm across your collarbone, making you feel doubly pathetic. You push at the limb, but it's of no use. It may as well have weighed 1000 pounds the way you're simply unable to move it.
His free hand comes down to your belly. His warm palm spreads out over it. He holds it there for a moment, feeling how your stomach moves with each breath you take. Then his fingers slice upwards. His nails tear through your thin shirt like scissors through wrapping paper.
You shiver as he yanks it free, leaving your upper-half nude to the night air. Instantly, his hands paw at your breasts. He gropes them, fingers digging into the plump flesh and squeezing them together. His mouth stays at your neck. He kisses the skin, but his movements are sloppy. He laps at your pulse point, heavy breaths fanning over the wet area.
Despite your fear, the touches still stir feelings of desire within your body. You moan softly as his canines scrape along your throat. He chuckles lowly at the sound.
"You smell even better when you're a little scared," he says.
Your pants are next to go. He shreds them into pieces, letting them fall off your figure onto the grass. You squeak at the sound of the denim tearing.
He grinds down on you harder. His hips roll with such force it feels like he's trying to meld you with the ground. The movements draw a longer whine out of you, which in turn sends a rush of arousal through him.
You feel his bulge filling out against your center. It seems larger than ever before. After all these years of marriage, you know what his cock feels like. You've committed every detail to memory, and right now isn't matching up. You wrap your arms tighter around his abdomen out of the instinct to seek comfort from him. He does the same with to you, keeping you flush against his large frame for a few moments.
But then he lets you go. He pulls back and pushes down the remnants of his pants, freeing his cock from its confines. Your eyes nearly pop out of your head at the sight of the engorged shaft. It's longer for sure, but it's so much fucking thicker. His balls look heavier too, hanging proudly beneath.
You don't get much time to examine it because he's back on you in an instant.
"You're gonna take it so well, baby," he mutters against your lips before capturing them in a kiss.
You mewl, overwhelmed by his body all over you and his tongue intruding into your mouth. Kissing back reluctantly, you feel his middle finger slot between your folds and press down. His sharp nail cuts a perfect slit in the damp fabric over your pussy. You shudder as now you can feel the air hitting your slick.
His cock soon interrupts that sensation as he slides it against your wetness. He rocks it up and down through your arousal. You're so hot there, between your thighs. He angles his hips downward and slides his length into you.
You gasp before gritting your teeth. Your fingers clump fistfuls of grass against your palms. He's so much bigger. It's always a stretch, but this feels like the first time all over again. You can't even squirm because his large hands keep a firm hold on your hips.
The new size also affects him. A deep groan rumbles in his chest, and he shoves his face into the crook of your neck. Inch by inch he fills you up completely. It's nearly unbearable by the time he bottoms out. Your lip wobbles and more tears stream down your cheeks freely. They blur your vision, but it doesn't matter much as your eyes flutter anyways.
He can feel the shake of you crying, smell the salt of your tears. Neither make him slow down or stop. He digs his fingers into the dough of your hips harder, keeping you steady as he ruts into you.
"My fuckin' mate. Could never want anyone else," he grunts. He fucks into you a few more times before nipping at your neck and then continuing. "You're ok, baby. You were made for this. Made to take me."
You shriek as a particular snap of his hips shoves the head of his cock right up against your cervix. Cries accompany your tears now. Loud sobs pour from your mouth in a deluge.
He lets you be noisy. The large grassy field behind your house provides the room for you to scream as loud as you need. No one would be bothering you out here. Even if they did, it's not like they could do anything to stop Chris.
Your walls spasm around the veiny shaft that pulls in and out of your drippy hole, desperate to acquiesce to the large intrusion. His rhythm is already so quick. He pistons into you like he's in a rush; like if you're not bred here and now, he won't survive, which isn't far off from the truth.
You feel hot breaths against your throat. They come out quicker than the knocks of his pelvis against your ass. Noises akin to growling scratch at the back of his throat but never fully erupt.
"It's too much!" you finally wail, hoping for some sort of reprieve.
None is granted to you though. More broken sobs explode into the night air, but his face stays planted against your neck just as his cock stays nestled in your cunt.
"It's not too much," he finally mutters after a few seconds, "You're gonna take it all, and then you're gonna take my seed. Gonna take my pups, and you're gonna look perfect doing it."
Your body involuntarily squirms at the notion. You and Chris had both come to the decision that kids weren't for you. With his work and the mileage on your body from your own, the two of you decided to forgo that part of the white-picket-fence fantasy.
Now he's breeding you with dedication you've never seen him give to another task. Sure he isn't himself, but you'd still be yourself if he knocked you up. With all your stresses lately about your marriage potentially falling apart, slip ups with your pills have been happening more often.
It's hard to think any of this though from the way he batters your insides and molds them to his will. Your thoughts fade away in favor of an empty haze where everything is about him. Everything feels soft and dreamy when you let go. You wonder if his mind feels like another version of this.
"That's it. Atta girl. You know you're meant to be a mama, huh?" he rasps as your body melts down into a puddle.
"Chris!" you gasp. Your legs try to wrap around his large waist, but they can't get a good hold with how fast he's moving.
"Keep crying for me, little one," he says.
And that you do. Your fingernails drag down the rippling muscles in his back as you whine and cry. The sensation doesn't affect him at all. There's no hint of pain on his face, not an inkling of discomfort. Arousal floods out of you and around his length as he just keeps going.
"Gonna get you so full. No way it won't take."
Your knees bat at his side, but not out of resistance this time. You just can't control the tremors that take over you. They make your legs seize up and flail.
"So cute..." he grunts, "Your little body working so hard to take it all. Just like it'll work hard at carrying my pups."
Finally, you lose control. You think you cum, but it's hard to tell because you don't come down afterward. Trapped in this never-ending high, your eyes roll back and your body goes limp. White fills your vision just as hot pleasure covers every inch of your skin. He yanks you closer now, humping into your pussy like you're nothing more than a toy for him to play with.
"Good girl. Let it all go. Nothing's better than this. Just doing what you're supposed to. My perfect breeding pet," he growls.
Despite the rest of your body flopping around in his arms, your pussy stays nice and tight. It helps get him there. Each stroke into your heat drags him closer to the edge. He can't stop until he reaches the peak.
When he finally does, he throws his head back and releases with a roar. His muscles tense, his hips moving with the natural desire to breed. He doesn't have to think about anything. His cum spills out of him and into you.
It keeps going for a long time. You're not sure if it's because you're so out of it, but it's the longest orgasm you've seen anyone have. You can feel globs of his seed spilling trying to spill out of you even though he hasn't pulled out.
One last burst shoots against your walls, but then something finally pulls you back to reality. The intense stretch of his knot swelling up. You cry out, eyes widening in panic. Your hands push at his chest haphazardly.
Like every time tonight though, he won't let you go. He holds you on the swollen base of his cock. At least now though, when he's not trapped in the fervor of primal lust, he has the decency to kiss away your tears and stroke your cheeks.
"It's ok, sweetheart. Not much longer. You did so good for me," he whispers before kissing your nose, "Sweet little baby. You took so much didn't you?"
You nod lazily, watery eyes looking to him for reassurance.
"Yes, you did," he coos, "You just have to let it take now, and then you'll be all done."
His body stays true to his word. You don't have the exact time, but it's not too much longer before his knot begins to deflate.
You're relieved when the burn of the stretch begins to recede and fade away. It allows for a hazy sleepiness to take over instead.
Everything fades away. Your eyes droop, turning your vision to black. Vaguely, you feel Chris picking you up and the faint bobbing of steps. You hear the door creak and shut. Then soon, you feel the softness of your mattress beneath you and your blankets draped above you.
The last thing you feel before you shut your eyes is the weight of his bulky arm curling around your body and the heat of his chest against your back.

He just had his faults, like any person. He watched you for so long, then watched the hairs on his head start to grey. He couldn’t tell if that was from old age itself or gojos constant pestering that turned him old. And then there was you.
He really tried to hard to hold back, like any sane person. But he couldn’t. Watching himself get old, watching himself repeatedly be put in a friend zone. He couldn’t do it anymore, he wanted to have that domestic life, before he was too old to have one. And he wanted to have it with you.
So he snatched you.
Now, you lie in bed awake. You look over, and Nanami is sound asleep. Of course. At first, he let you sleep alone, for a few days that is. But he got impatient. He wouldn’t touch you though, he wouldn’t wanna stress you out or scare you. He knew that you just needed time to relax and then you’ll realize that this is all for your own good. He planned out everything for you. Buying you a closet full of clothes and shoes and expensive handbags all from your wishlist you could never afford. A fridge and freezer full of healthy foods for a special but yummy diet he prepared for you. The shampoos and body washes you use at home, here too. The house you both lived in now, like a replica of your dream home, with all your dream material inside. Except for Nanami. You didn’t want it from him.
And all those things, he focused on big picture things and occasionally the small details that go with.
But of course he forgot to buy you period products. Of course it went by his mind once at least, but he got so excited over spoiling you with other things that it went over his head.
So again, you sit on the bed, with a damp red spot under you, seeping from your shorts onto the bed. You quickly got up and ran to the bathroom when you realized your little accident.
And of course you accidentally slammed the door on your way inside. That startled Nanami. He tried to go back to sleep, but your absence in presence overwhelmed him.
He waited at first, but a few minutes went by, and he got worried. He slowly got up, walking over the door and softly knocking on it to not startle you.
“Honey? You okay in there?” He whispered gently, gruffy voice from just waking up.
You on the other hand, we’re stuffing napkins in your underwear, trying to make a makeshift pad. You didn’t wanna tell him you got your period. You didn’t wanna give him the satisfaction of taking care of you, going out of his way to get you hygiene products just so he can act like some loving husband who’s been doing this forever. Plus it was embarrassing. The blood stain on your pants, the cramps that slowly trailed to your stomach.
“F-fine!” You answered.
Obviously he didn’t believe that.
“You need any help in there? Should I come in?”
You grinded your teeth while adjusting your pajama pants. “Really Nanami I’m fine, will be out in a second..”
You talked to him like it was normal, like you weren’t being held captive in your-his home. The home he made you.
“…. Alright sweetheart. I’ll be waiting.”
Fuck. Of course he will be. You quickly wash your hands and step out, however the pain coursing in your stomach made you almost trip on yourself.
“Careful!” Nanami grabs you by your waist, hoisting you up from when you almost fell. God, it almost felt good. His insanely big and warm hands around your belly, warming up your sore belly.
Nanami holds your hand softly, trying not to scare you away, leading you to the bed.
That’s when you realize you never cleaned the stain off the bed. And that’s also when Nanami sees it, the red stain on the bed, on your side, the moon light from the window illuminating it.
“I umm-“ “are you hurt? What is that?”
He interrupted you, turning you around swiftly with one hand, looking at your bottom. Of course blush spread to your cheeks, seeing where he was glancing at.
“H-hey! Stop that!”
He sighed.
“Oh I’m so sorry honey. I forgot to buy you the products..”
You stayed silent, moving away from him and crossing your arms over your chest.
“Yeah, kind of a dick move.”
He looked actually hurt by that.
“I am so sorry ___. I never meant to neglect you”
Ok, why were you feeling bad all of a sudden? That puppy dog look in his eyes? The genuine apology? The way he was too scared to step closer to you because he was so upset with himself. God you actually were feeling kind of funny looking at the sight, it was a genuine care in his eyes.
“I’ll make it up to you honey, how about I go pick up some right now? Actually- I’m unsure on what products you like to use, my dear. Why don’t we go together tomorrow morning and pick up some products hm? And perhaps some snacks and warmers for your belly?”
You just stared at him.
He… was going to let you go out? With him? A grocery shopping trip? You didn’t wanna act super happy to not change his mind so you just shrugged.
“Umm yeah I guess so. We can do that.” You say nervously.
He smiles at you, a genuine smile.
Perhaps the domestic life was closer for him then expected
Gojo-
Your cooking lunch for yourself, lunch while gojo satoru blabs and yaps bout his day. His day with his students. It’s actually quite sweet you think. You can tell he genuinely cares for his students, and loves to teach. It’s nice.
But it would’ve been nicer in a different situation. A situation where your not constantly being watched, stuck in his home as his captive, his y/n. His domestic partner, his ___friend, his lover, partner. And he acts like it’s all ok, and honestly, you do to. You realized it was easier to go with it all. Fighting at first made everything so bad. It put him in a bad mood, which put you in a bad mood, which made the whole home uneasy.
When you acted like his partner, his domestic lover, he was so much nicer and less unbearable. Sure he’d yap your ears off, but he’d reward you with all kinds of things. Before you were never allowed to touch the stove, or even go near the kitchen. You constantly had to ask for food or snacks, even water. And he loved it. He loved that power, being able to ask you to say things for him to give you your water.
“What’s the magic phrase?”
“Gojo, please. I’m thirsty.”
“Magic phrase.” He said more serious.
“…I love you”
And then he’d giddily give you your water while kissing your cheeks and declaring his undying love for you, too.
But now, you could roam the kitchen, make your own meals (you found out as well, making him breakfast in the morning also gives you free rein over the home, it makes him so incredibly happy.) you cooked yourself some comfort food while he talked on the kitchen island, laughing about some conflict two students had.
But then you felt something warm soil your panties. Something that felt so awfully familiar that you grimaced. And yes, gojo noticed that grimace immediately, pausing in the middle of his sentence to ask
“-huh? Hey what was that? My story annoy you or something?” He raised an eyebrow.
“…No no, I just felt weird all of a sudden.”
“Huh?” He got up immediately. “Do you feel sick? Nauseas? Headache? Is your throat closing up? Sweetie?” He asked so many questions you almost got a damn headache.
“It’s fine just.. I think.. cramps.” You look down at your stomach, holding it.
He looks down at your stomach. And then I’d slowly dawns over him.
“Ohhh.” He says. “Oh.”
You both stare at each other for a few seconds before he smacks himself.
“Eh? Gojo?” You exclaim.
“Dammit! I forgot to buy those damn tampons. I was in the store- heading to that isle but then this free sample lady wooed me!” He said so very dramatically, acting as if was wounded, falling to his knees.
“Would you forgive me my dear?” He sighed, hand over his forehead, back arching on his knees, acting dramatically.
“Umm it’s fine. Can you just go buy them?”
He immediately got up and hugged you. “Oh my most forgiving loving partner oh my dear!” He held you tight, making you grimace with disgust. Get off me idiot, is what yo wanted to say. But you bit your tongue.
“You know, I could always use my fingers to plug it up so no blood seeps out-“
“Gojo!”
Geto-
Your sitting in his lap. Geto suguru says it’s your throne. Oh god ew. But, it puts him in a good mood. A good enough mood where you’re allowed to watch tv for an hour… well while sitting in his lap.
He hums and smiles while your back faces him, he snuggled his chest into your back while you try and ignore him, and just watch your favorite tv show. You try to imagine it’s someone else, anyone, but his smell, his arms, his presence alone reminds you it’s him.
Your old best friend.
Now boyfriend. Well, you didn’t choose that title for him. He gladly stole it. He stole you, happily. You knew there was something going on with him, something much deeper then a “bad mood” he was in constantly.
Satoru gojo told you not to worry about it. You asked geto about it, why he was being so closed off, why he seemed so… disoriented. Maybe you ended up becoming that hope that helped him feel better.
You remember when he smiled at you, thanked you for asking, that you were the only person willing to put up with his shit mood these past few months.
You stayed with him, basically nursed him. Made sure he eat and slept well.
And god did he want to reward you for that.
But then he realized he didn’t always have your time. Your attention wasn’t always on him. You had missions, family, friends, you had a life.
And his life, was you.
He watched you, with others. Spreading that same smile, same love, same nursing affection to others. And he realized, he wasn’t special. Sure he was your best friend, but you’d do the same to satoru even he felt unwell, too.
So he snapped.
And now, your captive, in his home, for what felt like weeks but probably not that long. Sitting his lap, chewing on a piece of fruit.
“What were you thinking about for dinner, love?”
He asks, that sinister smile he gives you oh so reminds you that he kidnapped you, that you’re a victim of Geto, and that this isn’t one of your hangouts as friends.
“Uhh I don’t care. Not really… fuck I’m craving chocolate.”
“Chocolate?” He grabs your arm slightly so that he can menouver u to your side, in order to see your face.
You hum, looking up at him- well avoiding eye contact.
“Yes- I guess I can drop by the store and bring you some chocolate my dear- but for a price.” He points to his cheek.
Ah, of course. You can never get anything unless you give him something to be satisfied about. You lean in to kiss his cheek, but something stops you.
A pain that crawls up your spine and down to your uterus, “S-suguru”
His eyes widens as you wince and crumble over, and he immediately puts his large warm hand over your lower tummy, trying to catch the pain.
“Sweetheart? Y/n? What’s wrong?” He frowned, smile dropping as you didn’t answer him.
But he answers himself, basically. When his hands go lower to try and find the source of your pain, accidentally swiping against your crotch, a it dampens his fingers.
Blood.
Of course at first, his mind immediately feels out, his eyes wide in alarm and his body almost trembling. You feel that immediately and look up at him.
“N-no sugu… it’s just my period..”
And a huge sigh of relief leaves his mouth, as he grabs a tissue to wipe his fingers and his other hand warms your tummy.
“Alright love. Why don’t you go clean yourself up and I’ll go to the store for some heat warmers and chocolate?”
You now, getting up, but then realize you don’t know where the period products are.
“Umm… where.. are they?”
He stared at you, the wires in his head starting to connect, and he realizes he never bought any in the first place.
“Oh dear..” he grumbles, “how inconsiderate and irresponsible am I…”
You sigh realizing the man hadn’t bought any.
“I’m sorry my y/n. Don’t worry, I’ll get you all the most luxury items, I..”
“Suguru it’s fine.”
But he still frowns, and he seems almost.. guilty. And that’s the first time you’ve ever seen this man guilty (in your entire time being held captive by him, at least.)
He stands there, unable to look at you or even move. It’s been so long since you’ve been outside.
And you want to breathe that fresh air so badly. You decide there’s no reason that you can’t live a little. You slowly step to him, this insane man that somehow has a heart, and get on your tippy toes, pecking his cheek.
You grimace, but come down immediately, looking up at him. Now his eyes are wide but happy as he looks down at you.
“I didn’t deserve that.”
You hum though. “Maybe.. just maybe suguru.. I can go clean myself and we could.. go together? I can show you all the products I like to buy..”
He hums and smiles down at you, ruffling your hair. “Ah your too cute. Never in hell, my love.”
…..
But after a lot of pouting and calling him “mean” and then trying to different approach, to flatter him, finally he agrees, as long as you wear some creepy ankle monitor (that unbeknownst to you, will shock you if you get too far from him), and a very gorgeous necklace, that’s obviously, a tracker.
You prounce around happily in the grocery store, showing him the products you like, and a reward for trying so hard, which he thinks you tried hard because you wanted to go on a date to the store with him (not that you wanted to go out in general). He buys you sweets, and snacks and heat warmers, all the things you point at.
He smiled at you as you giggle and jump around, the light finally coming back to your eyes. He pushes the cart as you head into another isle, pointing at the things you want, that he promptly tells you to throw in the cart.
And to everyone else, it just looks like some cute domestic couple, shopping for groceries.
But you know. And he knows.
And the diamond necklace you wear gleams with something other than just light from the shining crystal, but a tracker.
And the slight shock you get everytime you stepped to far from him, reminded you.
But that smile he gives you, it’s so familiar. It’s weirdly sweet. Like from before. Before his corruption.
And perhaps maybe, you do see a chance with him.
Toji-
He did this to keep you safe, you know that right? With all those he assassined, all those dangerous people he met, he knew he had to keep you safe.
And what better way to keep you safe than in its home? Surrounded by cameras? And alarms? And him to keep you company? It’s perfect right?
He isn’t home too often, sometimes you wake up and he’s gone. Not that you miss him of course. His creepy smile and weird chuckle when you fight back, scream and argue with him. The way he ruffles your hair roughly every time he’s about to leave, like your his child, the way he teases you that way. It’s annoying, and he bids you goodbye that way. He loves you, can’t you see? But he doesn’t really say it much. He thinks that his actions speaks enough words.
“I’m leaving. Mission.” He says while you just shrug, sitting on the sofa as you watch some random movie you used to watch in your childhood.
He wants an answer from you, a real one. A goodbye, or for you to come kiss him his goodbye.
He waits there at the door patiently, staring at you. You know what he wants but you roll your eyes slightly not wanting to give him the satisfaction.
“Doll.”
Oh, you know that tone. If you don’t get up he’ll make you. You get up slowly and grumble, your shoulders low and body dragging over to him.
“Bye.”
“That’s it?” He says disappointedly.
You sigh, wiggling your finger to him so that he may lean down to you. You kiss the space between his nose and lips so that you don’t have to kiss his lips, you didn’t want to. And luckily he let that go.
“Bye doll, I’ll be back in a few hours..” He ruffles your hair harshly, supposedly in a way that’s supposed to be loving.
He leaves, and you sit back on the couch, continuing the movie. But then you decide to make some popcorn, to go well with your movie. You get up and make the popcorn, microwaving it and finally, when it’s cooked, you empty it out in a popcorn bowl.
You go to sit down but notice a very familiar stain on the couch. A fresh stain. You sigh as you quickly grab some tissues from the coffee table to rub off the stain, then run to the restroom, to find some pads or tampons or anything really. You grab a spare underwear on your way there, but as you open the drawers, the cabinets, everywhere, there’s no sign of period products.
You sigh on the bathroom floor, finished. Then you remember the emergency button he has downstairs. It’s part of the security system for the entire home, however this is the only part you have access to. You run downstairs to it, a small screen on the side of the front door. You press the “emergency button” which dials Toji immediately.
He answers insanely quick, fear and pain in his voice as he answers.
“Honey? Doll? What’s wrong? Are you ok? Are you hurt-“
You cut him off. “I.. umm I’m fine? It’s not an emergency.. I just.. I need period products. Maybe some pads? I couldn’t find any..”
He’s silent on the other end, quiet. Then he chuckled nervously. “Oh doll, I’m so sorry I forgot.” He doesn’t really sound sorry, he sounds smug, but a hint of genuine empathy comes to you from it.
“I’ll bring you some, anything else you need from the store doll? I’ll be there in a second.”
You squint your eyes confused. “I thought you were busy? With your mission?”
He grumbles slightly. “Don’t worry ‘bout it doll. I’ll be home right now.”
He comes home with everything you need, so soon you think he must have been sprinting through the isles, throwing his cart everywhere. You laugh at the image in your head.
He brings you gifts to make up for it. Extra panties, fancy chocolate mousses, chocolate covered strawberries, heating pads and obviously the period products. And obviously, all of them. Tampons, pads, period cups, you know everything.
“Sorry ‘gain, doll.” He smiles down at you, no not smile, a smug smirk. He wants another again.
But as you look down at the material items, you look at him, and you think about how he’s the only person who ever really… no, you can’t think that way. You shouldn’t. Not about your captor at least.
But fuck, he’s cute. He’s tall, muscly, his voice…dammit. And he actually cares. You think this assassin, this killer, this insane man, actually cares about you. He actually loves you.
A special kind of love, that only you will ever get. He doesn’t share this love he has for you, with anyone else. It’s only yours, forever.
And fuck, maybe you’ve been neglected from that kind of love, all your life.
Your mouth starts to twitch, the corners slightly winding up into a soft smile as you look at a the gifts, up to him. You softly smile, and his smile goes from a smug smirk to a real soft loving smile, as he looks down at you.
He’s bad, you think.
He’s a bad dangerous man.
But he’s cute. But he cares. And his hand goes to your arm, softly caressing it in such a loving way, that you think that the butterflies in your stomach are no longer that disgust feeling of wanting him off you, but something else.
Something, that makes a pink hue cover your little cheeks. And makes your mouth twitch upwards just a little more as his thumb moves gently on your arm, his hand tightly holding yours in place.
Something that makes you think, that perhaps this isn’t, too bad.
Requests are open! This is my first yandere post, so it might be a little rough.

If you could stare a hole through him he’d be nothing but his cowboy hat by now, shaking under the heavy clouds of rain above you as your eyes followed him out of his truck. Drops of water quickly seeping into his shirt, practically begging you to drool over him.
He shook his head with a smile when he saw what you were wearing; your favorite ‘this ain’t my first Tornadeo’ shirt with his face right in the middle. A gift he’d given you when you first got together, tears of laughter streaming down your face as you held it up in front of you ‘oh my god this is ridiculous, Ty. I love it.’ Easily one of your favorite memories.
You hugged him as soon as he was close enough, wrapping your arms around his neck as he laughed softly at your excitement. It was clear you weren’t letting go of him anytime soon, letting him pick you up swiftly to bring you inside.
“You weren’t waitin’ for me out there too long, were you?” He asked, kissing the top of your head as he kicked the door closed.
“Don’t want you gettin’ sick.” You moved your head from his shoulder as he sat down, hands planted firmly in the middle of his chest as you got comfortable on top of him.
“Just when I heard you pull up.” Your voice always made him soft, finally feeling at home again after a long work trip.
“Couldn’t wait to see me, huh?” He teased with a grin, adoration clear on his face as you studied his features, it hadn’t even been a week since you’ve seen him but it always felt like longer.
“I missed you!” You remarked through giggles as he grabbed your face and kissed each of your cheeks, his stubble tickling you.
“I bet I missed you more, darlin’.“ He contests, raising his eyebrows as you suddenly grabbed his hat from him, putting it on.
He knew how much you loved it, eyeing it on his dash every time you were driving with him, getting all shy when he told you how good you looked wearing it for him.
“Well if it isn’t my very own cowgirl. I ever tell you how much I love seein’ you in that?”
“Once or twice. Makes me feel hot, and getting to steal it from you is half the fun.”
“You are hot. Drives me crazy when you take it without askin’.” He confessed, pulling you in for a kiss until you were breathless and squirming over him.
“Ty,” You sighed, getting lost in his hands moving to draw little patterns over your upper thigh.
“Can I ride you?” You whispered into his ear, dragging your hand up and down over his chest as he groaned.
“‘Course you can, baby. Keep the hat on, let’s see if this cowgirl can ride.”
——
His Your hat and shirt were still on, your hands bracing yourself on his broad shoulders. Panting out as you moved over him, hips grinding down onto him every time he bottomed out.
“That’s it, sweetheart, just like that. Takin’ me like a fuckin’ dream, baby.” He praised, honeyed accent drawing out the words. His warm, rough hands moving under your shirt.
He looked relaxed under you, drinking in every sweet sound that left your mouth as he reveled in your warmth, groans and sighs of his own dancing between praises in your ears. Like this is exactly where he was supposed to be.
Your movements slowed down as your legs got progressively more tired as you went, sighing his name once again when he cradled the back of your head with one hand and thrusted into you.
“Shit- Ty,” You leaned down to quiet yourself on his lips, moaning into his mouth instead when the hand on your waist gripped you tighter, steadying you as he sped up.
“I know, darlin’.” He punctuated with a kiss to your temple, “Sweetest cowgirl in the world. Can’t believe I get to see you like this.”
He didn’t just see you like this, he made you like this, and that cowboy hat of his was one hell of an accomplice.

Congrats on 6k!! Finnick please + ❛ was that your first kiss?❜
thank you angel! hope you like this x join the celebration
finnick odair x shy!fem!reader
Finnick Odair is endlessly sweet on you. You think he might like you, but that could just be your huge, unyielding crush on him talking. It’s why you’re so nervous walking up the path to his house. You really, really hope he’ll like the gift you’re bringing him, because you really, really like him.
Your feet seem to be out of commission, though. They feel heavy as you drag yourself up his steps, as if you’ve got bricks tied to your shoes. You make it to the front door without tripping over, at least.
You knock softly, your heart climbing to your throat. It’s lodged in your airways by the time you hear footsteps from inside the house. Fleetingly, you think about turning tail and running away before he answers the door. You could make it, if you really ran.
Before you can make any move of cowardice the door clicks and then swings open. Finnick appears behind it. Any thoughts of running simply vanish in the wind.
“Well, hello there, sweetheart,” he says, smiling. Two dimples poke into his cheeks, one on each side, and you forget how to breathe. He’s strikingly handsome, especially now, glowing in the last dregs of today’s sunlight. Streaks of gold and orange catch on the ends of his hair. “To what do I owe the pleasure?”
You stare at him for a second too long before remembering your voice. “Finnick,” you manage, already breathless and you’ve only been in his presence all of two seconds. “Hi.”
Finnick’s smile grows. “Hi,” he says back. There’s something like fond amusement in his tone. “You okay?”
“I— yes. I’m okay.” Are you? Not really, not when he’s looking at you like that. “I um, I brought you something.”
Finnick looks at you quizzically. “You did?”
“Yeah.”
“Well, can I see it?”
Right. You’re still hiding your gift behind your back. You pull it out with a trembling hand.
“Here,” you say softly.
You hold it out to him. It’s a small woven basket, full to the brim with seashells you’ve collected from the beach. The prettiest ones you could find. You know he loves the sea, anyone with two eyes could see that. Even now, it’s obvious, his hair all curled at the ends from the saltwater, and his skin all lovely and tan from the sun.
Finnick takes the basket from you and doesn’t say anything. You watch his face. He blinks twice. Stares at your gift for a handful of seconds. Then he looks at you. The sun kisses his face and spreads over his cheekbones.
“This is for me?” He asks softly. He’s got something in his eyes that you can’t quite understand, but it makes you hot all over anyway.
“Um,” you stammer, feeling like you might burst into flames on the spot. “Yeah. I collected them for you.” And then he keeps staring at you, with so much intensity it burns, and gosh, maybe you’ve really messed up. “But! But if you don’t like it, I can totally—“
“Honey.” Finnick stops you with a hand on your elbow. You waver. Your skin feels branded by his hand, his touch electric. “I love it,” he says, with so much earnest it’s bruising. “Did you really collect all of these for me?”
Well, when he puts it like that, it makes it very obvious that you like him an inordinate amount. You flush from head to foot. “Yeah ... is that weird?”
Finnick shakes his head vehemently. “No, of course it’s not.” His hand’s still on your arm. He drags it down to your forearm, fingers curling into your skin. His thumb pushes into the inside of your wrist. You hope he can’t feel your racing pulse. “It’s really sweet. They’re so pretty, I love them, honey.”
He gives you a look like you’ve hung the moon for him. You would, if you could.
“I really hoped you would,” you admit, bashful. Something about the way he’s looking at you is unraveling you fast. Any more of this and you’ll be spilling your deepest secrets to him.
“Yeah?” He hums softly. His hand slides back up your arm, all the way up to the slope of your shoulder. You realise, suddenly, how close he is. When did he get this close? He’s over the threshold now and on the doormat with you. So close you can see where the light hits the very tips of his blonde eyelashes.
“Can I give you something now?” He asks in a murmur. He leans down so his face is inches from yours, so he’s all you can see. His strong jaw, his broad shoulders. He’s all-encompassing. “A kiss?”
You feel frozen to your spot. You’ve never been kissed before. You find you want it, though, no matter how scary. All you can do is nod, worried if you open your mouth your heart will jump right out.
You see a flash of Finnick’s kind smile before his mouth is pressed to yours and you’re slamming slam your eyes shut. He’s kissing you. Finnick Odair is kissing you. His hand moves to the juncture between your neck and shoulder, his thumb pushing lightly into the back of your neck. You melt, heart thrumming with so many new, lovely feelings. His kiss is warm and soft, kind, like all the things he’s ever been to you.
When he pulls away you’ve forgotten how to breathe. You blink up at him, totally dazed. You might as well be in another world, with the way your head is swimming.
Finnick smiles at you. It’s kind. Though he looks almost as if he’s trying to bite back a bigger smile. “Was that your first kiss?”
Red hot embarrassment creeps up your neck and face. Was it that obvious? “How could you tell?” You ask in a whisper, half mortified.
“Hey, it’s nothing to worry about,” Finnick assures you quickly. “It’s just, you’re really stiff, sweetheart.” He rubs your shoulder firmly. You suppose you are quite stiff. “Loosen up, okay? Do you think I could give you another?”
Another kiss? From him? You can’t think of anything to say other than an anguished sort of plea. “Please.”
He indulges you.

Blanket Fort
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Azriel x Fem!Reader
Word Count: 1.7k
Warnings: none.
Summary: Y/N returns home from a long day of helping Feyre at the studio and her heart melts from what she finds.
A Court of Thorns and Roses Masterlist
•••
The moment Y/N entered her house, hushed whispers were heard coming from the living room. After a long day working at the studio with Feyre, all Y/N wanted to do was curl up and go to sleep. She kicked off her shoes and entered the living room and immediately paused when she took notice of the mess of it.
Instead of the usual furniture set by the fireplace, it was pushed to the corners of the room in favour of the large blanket fort in the centre of the room. The hushed whispers were of course coming from inside. Despite the tiredness in her body, Y/N smiled.
“Daddy, is Mummy going to come in?” the voice of her six year old son whispered. Or in his case, just spoke aloud.
“Get her!” Her three year old daughter giggled.
“Alright, I’ll get her,” the voice of her husband said.
Y/N leaned against the doorway and watched how Azriel emerged from the blanket fort. With his wings it was a miracle he managed to fit inside. As soon as Y/N made eye contact with him, she simply fell in love with him all over again. His hair was a mess and stuck up in all directions and his eyes were sleepy. His shirt hung loosely on his body and was the one he would never be cause dead in outside the comfort of his home.
“Hey, honey,” Azriel whispered and pulled her body against his, resting his arms around her waist.
“Hey,” Y/N replied and lazily rested her arms over his shoulders. “So what is this all about?”
Azriel smiled. “Oh this? Just a little construction work. Robin has been bossing me and his sister around all day. Odessa has just been happy to help out her big brother.”
Y/N smiled and wished that she had been with her family. Y/N remembered when she first told Azriel she was pregnant with Robin, he had been over the moon. He had been protective before the pregnancy but during it, Y/N couldn’t even go to the kitchen without him trailing behind her. Y/N needed to beg Cassian and Rhys to take him out for a few days to give her a well needed break of the coddling.
After Robin was born, Azriel had a hard time bonding with him. Azriel blamed it on Robin constantly needing her but Y/N knew that it wasn’t the case. Y/N knew that Azriel didn’t see himself fit to be a father. He had never voiced these thoughts to Y/N but she could tell just from looking in his eyes. Azriel only held Robin when Y/N passed him to him. He would only interact with him when Robin crawled over to him. It was as if Azriel was afraid of tainting his son just from being around him.
It wasn’t until Y/N went on an overnight trip with Feyre that everything sorted itself out. When she returned that morning, Y/N expected Robin to be asleep in his crib but what she found was even more precious. Robin was fast asleep on Azriel’s chest and Azriel himself was asleep too, a protective hand on Robin’s back. Y/N had asked Feyre to paint the image which now proudly hung in their living room, a matching one of Azriel and Odessa next to it
After that night, Robin would always follow Azriel around. He had become one of his shadows. Robin tried to imitate Azriel. The way he stood, the way he walked. Even facial expressions. Despite Robin being born without wings, he always demanded Azriel to take him flying and pretend that he was flying himself. Robin idolised his father, it was as simple as that.
When Odessa was born, Azriel didn’t ever pull away from her. And of course, like Robin, Odessa would always follow her father around. And due to Odessa’s small wings poking from her back, she would always plead for Azriel to teach her how to fly, despite the lack of strength in her wings that could not support her weight yet.
Y/N never minded that her children always wanted Azriel. Of course they would always want her too, but Y/N knew that Azriel always needed to be reminded by his children how loved he really was. There were still some days where Azriel believed that he did not deserve the life he had and one those days, Y/N would leave the house and allow Azriel time with their children and all those thoughts would instantly wash away.
“I wish you could have been with us,” Azriel said, pressing a kiss to her forehead. “They have been asking for you since lunch.”
“Feyre needed a lot of help today, the class she was teaching was overbooked so I helped out a little longer than usual,” Y/N answered. “I wish I could have been here earlier.”
Azriel smiled and pressed his lips against Y/N’s. She melted into the kiss. The feel of his lips against hers was a pleasant feeling after her tiring day. However before she had a chance to fully savour it, small hands grabbed Y/N’s dress and tugged it.
“Mummy,” Robin said excitedly. “Look what we made!”
Y/N pulled away from Azriel and down to her son. She smiled upon seeing him. He definitely took after his father, even down to the shade of his eyes was a replica. The only difference was his nose, he had Y/N’s nose.
“Come on!” Robin said, now gripping onto Y/N’s hand.
Y/N allowed herself to be led by her son to the mass of blankets in the centre of the room. Y/N peeked inside and saw her daughter bundled amongst the pillows. Odessa laughed gleefully upon seeing her mother.
The space in the blanket fort was larger than she thought, mostly to allow Azriel to enter with his wings. Y/N shuffled inside and laid down next to her daughter. She kissed her daughter on the cheek. “I missed you today.”
“Did you miss me too?” Robin asked, laying down on the other side of Y/N.
Y/N wrapped her arms around her son and kissed his cheeks. “Of course I did!” Robin tried to push Y/N away, yet the smile on his face and the giggles escaping him as his mother showered him with love betrayed his resistance.
“Daddy! Come back!” Odessa piped up and giggled as Azriel’s face came into view.
He crawled through the gap in the blankets, making sure to keep his wings tucked close to his body. As soon as he was inside, he laid down next to Robin and Robin immediately hugged his father.
Y/N watched Azriel’s face light up as Robin began to speak to him while gripping onto his shirt. Her heart couldn’t feel more full.
“Mummy.” Odessa’s voice caught Y/N’s attention.
Y/N smiled down at her daughter, wrapping her in a hug. “Yes, sweetheart?”
“Can we sleep here?” Odessa asked.
Y/N looked at Azriel and he already looked ready to pass out. Y/N smiled. She returned her gaze to Odessa.
“I don’t see why not,” Y/N said.
Odessa let out a small noise of happiness before nuzzling into her mother's arms and closed her eyes. Y/N held onto her daughter and pressed a kiss to her hair.
“They are growing up too fast,” Azriel said quietly once the two children were asleep between them.
“I know,” Y/N said, reaching out her hand to hold onto Azriel’s. “I swear it was only yesterday we were celebrating Odessa’s first birthday.”
Azriel smiled as he pressed a kiss to Y/N’s palm. “What do you say about another one?”
“Another kid?” Y/N asked
“No, another dog,” Azriel teased. “Yes, another kid.”
Y/N smiled softly. “I remember a time where you were terrified to become a father. Look at you now, wanting more children who look exactly like you.”
“Odessa has your eyes and Robin has your nose. They take after you at least a small amount,” Azriel defended, teasing his wife.
Y/N chuckled. “So you want another one?”
“Only if you wanted to,” Azriel said. “I’ve been thinking since having Odessa that I like having a family. I like having children. And I’ve realised recently that I want a large family. I want more people to love.”
Y/N cupped Azriel’s cheek. “My love, I would love that too. But perhaps we don’t start trying for another child until Odessa is a little older. You know what Nyx was like when he first started to fly, imagine what it will be like with Odessa while also caring for another young baby.”
Azriel smiled. “That would be a nightmare.”
“I know it would be,” Y/N replied. “But having a large family is not a no. Let’s just enjoy what we have for now.”
“Okay,” Azriel said.
He looked down at his children and Y/N could see the unconditional love in his eyes.
“I never thank you enough for proving to me that I deserve this life, Y/N,” Azriel whispered.
“You don’t need to thank me, my love,” Y/N said, brushing her fingers through his hair. “You never need to thank me for something you figured out yourself.”
Azriel smiled in response. He carefully stretched one wing out and draped it over Y/N and the children, wrapping them all in a warm cocoon.
“You are going to ache in the morning,” Y/N said.
“I know,” Azriel said. “But it’s worth it to spend the night with my family like this.”
Y/N smiled. “We definitely need to take this down while Robin and Odessa go to Rhys and Feyre’s, otherwise they will want to sleep in it every night.”
“What’s going to be the excuse?” Azriel asked.
Y/N yawned. “We can figure that out in the morning or we can just take them for ice cream. They will forget all about it.”
Azriel smiled and wrapped his arm around his family. His fingers linked with Y/N’s. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Y/N replied.
The small squeeze of Y/N’s hand and the gentle pull on that golden thread connecting their souls, Y/N was consumed by Azriel’s love for her and their family. She closed her eyes and drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

Similarly, travel packages in India can help travelers navigate and visit the enticing monuments and locations in India. One can easily avail not only a guide who would help them get a deeper look into the culture and history of a region but also hotels, comfortable transportation, and more. There are several types of packages that one can choose from. These include:

Stress-free Travelling
You no longer need to bother booking hotels, arranging modes of transportation, and more. The tour agency shall take up all of these responsibilities, along with planning locations to visit.
Wholesome Experience
No matter how well you plan an India tour, you cannot adhere to it and will miss out on a few locations. However, as your package plans your travel, you can easily stick to it and visit all the desired locations in India.
Conclusion
If a visit to India is on your bucket list, then opting for travel packages in India can be the best way. However, it is essential to remember that one must choose only those agencies that have been in the business for a long time. Additionally, they must also analyse the kind of services they offer and the locations they cover. This way, they can benefit from a single place at much lower costs. Travelling to different corners of India can give you memories for a lifetime, so it is essential to choose wisely.
FAQs
What are the inclusions and exclusions in a travel package?
Inclusions typically cover accommodation, transportation, sightseeing tours, meals, and entrance fees to attractions. Exclusions may include visa fees, tips, personal expenses, and optional activities.
How much do travel packages in India cost?
The cost of travel packages in India varies depending on the package type, the duration of the trip, the standard of accommodation, and the time of year. However, India is a relatively affordable travel destination, and finding good value for money is possible.
What is the best time to visit India?
The best time to visit India depends on the region you plan to visit. The cooler months (October to March) are the best time to travel, as the weather is pleasant and there are fewer crowds. However, the summer months (April to June) can be an excellent time to visit if you want lower prices and fewer tourists.

ᝰ.ᐟ 🦢 — K.MG ; ! honey moon dream
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
nsfw is included ! minors do not interact 18+. [ smut, fluff ] ꩜ | requested but couldn’t find the req.
“ the morning after you & your new husbands flight to the santorini islands, you must say you’re excited for your new life with him but not as much as having intimate time with him ”
waking up to a naked mingyu was the best thing you could ask for, his big built muscular back just adds up to your obsession with him.
after staring for a good minute, thinking about things you shouldn’t have but hey you’re on your honeymoon right? having… well interesting thoughts is apart of it but the bigger part is doing those thoughts, you knew you were will have some intimate time as you’d like to call it.
“mingyu darling wake up“ you spoke, breaking out of your thoughts, trying to wake up your lover who is one heck of a heavy sleeper, after some attempts of waking him up he finally opened his eyes , groaning, voice groggily as he replied “mm what time is it“ rubbing his eyes “9 am, love” you kissed his cheek.
“It’s too early, let’s just stay in bed baby” you said to him as he pulled you over to sit on his lap.
your babydoll white nightgown which was quite short in mingyu’s eyes, hunched up as you were sitting on top of him, & the white paired stockings did him no good either.
leaning for a kiss, mingyu quickly deepened it. you let out a soft sigh, loving his pretty lips on yours, suddenly he cut the kiss shortly which caused you to give mingyu a whiny why, “doll as much as i want to continue this, we have a reservation at a yacht today didn’t you know?” ah yes with many of your lovers perks, he was rich, filthy rich. hell you two came here from the classiest airlines & first class seats of course.
“ugh fine” you rolled your eyes getting off him, “lose the attitude, sweet wife” he told.
fuck.. that was so hot of him you thought as you walked to the bathroom doing your daily beauty routine & taking a quick shower.
walking out of the soothing shower, you dried your hair out, while mingyu took your place for showering, you eventually went out & got ready for the luxurious boat ride you guys will be staying in for about two days you remember him saying.
packing up clothes for the little trip, you packed essentials, you wore the star of the show was your little bikini, the color was a beige but with a very little color of pink. It was basically a thong for the bottom part & for the top part it had a string the could be taken off easily if you pulled it.
after being done with packing you wore a cute see through thin strap-yellow with a flower print dress it had on it, it was so light with sheer fabric that you could see your bikini bottom showing.
you looked & felt absolutely gorgeous it complemented your skin so much, & trust mingyu loved it more when he saw it on you he stopped for a moment to take a good look, speechless was an understatement for him.
“earth to mingyu???” you smiled waving your hand infront of his face, the wedding ring on it snapped him out to reality, he still couldn’t believe he wifed you up.
“m’sorry baby couldn’t resist you just look so gorgeous” he grabbed your hand & kissed the big diamond ring that was adorned by your finger “shall we mrs.kim?” he looked at you “we shall mr.kim” you giggled, holding his hand while he showed you the way out.
Tumblr media
the car ride to the to the beach decks of the yacht waiting for you was absolutely ethereal you couldn’t even believe it was real, the blue & white decorated living units & shops you passed through, the blue beaches you could see it was perfect, this was perfect, the life you have right now made up everything you’ve been through, as long as you had mingyu.
finally after what seemed an hour you’ve arrived to your destination.
seeing the staff waiting for you on the boat, they welcomed you gifting yours & mingyus heads with a flower crowns, the pretty flowers had a coloration range from yellow to pink to white, it matched with your choice of clothing so well.
Tumblr media
sounds splitters & splatters across the pool that was caused by your beloved husband, while you sat on the beach chair laying down on your stomach, reading a magazine or book.
“cmon baby join me!” you heard him yell, “no I’m fine like this” turning your head & looking up at him then smiling but it quickly faded when he decided to splash some water on you “you idiot!” you screamed “oops sorry baby it was by accident” he smiled, he by 100% mean it. “just shut up let me relax” you shushed him.
you wanted to feel comfortable even more you took off your dress with it came off the top of your bikini, I mean hey it is your yacht technically, your boobs out in all its glory, it almost immediately caught your husband’s attention “what the fuck do you think your doing?” he said clearly not mused by your tricks, coming out of the pool & grabbing the towel to cover you up “what I only wanted to get comfortable gyu” you tilted your head batting your eye-lashes “yeah but I don’t want the staff ogling your tits” he spat “fine fine m’sorry gyu” you snaked your hands around his clearly wet neck “god your lucky I love you” you chuckled.
after the pool you both took a shower, then you wore a simple black panty with a matching long sleeve, I mean it was your normal sleep-wear, you were thirsty though, you went to of course get some refreshing water to cool your throat, greeting a staff, you swore he looked at your ass but you shrugged it off not caring until.. you head a slight raised voice by none other than mingyu “y/n!”.
your turned your head meeting an angry mingyu “we need to talk in private” he grit his teeth, fake smiling to the staff the was joining you in the kitchen, dragging you to the master -room you’d sleep in.
“you know first I forgave you but walking out with your ass out to everyone see really y/n?”he held your waist pulling you closer, you began to be nervous but you’d still hold your ground ”I didn’t know he’d be here mingyu!” you told truthfully but fully liking mingyu’s mini rage fest “really cause the yacht seems to be full of staff” he continued, you were weak to him when he was like this you had to apologize “fine! m’sorry okay I just didn’t think about it I was thirsty” you mumbled but he sure did catch what you said “oh doll, when I’m done with you won’t be able to think” moving his veiny hands to your back stroking it, then moving to your butt & squeezing it.
you jumped a little bit, not gonna lie when he said that, you panties were soiled by the wetness it hit it with, “gyu, please don’t tease I’ve wanted you all day” you pouted “awh trust me, you’ll get what you want & more” with ease he ripped the fabric that once was covering your private part, the air hit your wet cunt making you sigh, he tapped on your thighs signaling you to jump & put your legs around his waist.
he moved to bed quickly, letting the duvet hit your back when he placed you, he hovered over you, admiring your face then smiling, but it wasn’t just a normal smile it was a you’re fucked smile “how ‘bout you give me your ass f’me baby” you responded with a nod then following what he said, you got on all fours.
he stopped for a second, making you whine.
then a spank came landing on one of your cheeks but not just with his hand with a belt.
a whole fuckin belt.
“how much should I give you, baby? have you been a good little pup for me?” he spoke out saying ‘pup’ he only called you that when the both of you are alone, fucking obviously.
you thought for a bout a second “you know I like it when I get my answer, you’ve already got me on a bad temper baby, wouldn’t wanna push it even more mh?” spank ! another hit landed on the flesh of your bottom as you moaned.
“whatever you’d like min” you answered. slightly peeking to see his face, he was amused by your answer “good choice doll”.
ten. ten in total he gave you after he was done he stopped to admire the work he’s done your abused ass painted with a series of purple & red colors then looking down at the arousal spewing from your pussy till dripping down your thighs. “you know you should walk out with panties again but now they’ll see who gets to fuck this ass.” he chuckled.
“how bad do you want my cock in you pup?” “s-so bad min, you don’t even know how I just need it s’bad, need you filling me up with your b-babies !!” you begged tears flowing from him spanking you till now you begging him to fuck you stupid.
“god haven’t I god such a dirty mouthed pup?” he pulled your hair roughly then lined his huge member to your pink little hole “guess I have to fuck you dumb, to get those bad little words out of you.” he then thrusted in you with no hesitation, you moaned out his name loudly, as he thrusted more in you, the ah’s & curses coming out of both of you, he looked down to see your ass shaking to when he thrusts in you fuck he loved seeing that, knowing his pretty little wife is all his, he moaned & went harder
skin slapping was heard filling the room, you were feeling amazing, finally you’ve been waiting all day to fucked by your husband & him being jealous by the staff member just made you crazy, you loved how he was protective of you, you also loved how he isn’t afraid to show the dumb of a man he’d like to call by making you scream his name while his dick was abusing your hole.
“f-fuck my pretty little wife taking me up so well?? s-shit can’t wait f’him to hear how my dump pup is getting all loud f’me hm?” he said as his two fingers went to roughly rub on your puffed up clit.
you felt a knot tying through your tummy, a sign that you’re really close “hmph g-gyu so close!” you moaned loudly as the orgasm rushed through your body, spilling all over your thighs, once you were done cumming he pulled out of you “my pretty pup you did so good” he praised you as you smiled “but think you could do one thing f’me?” you tilted your head before you could speak he put his legs between your stomach hovering over it.
squeezing your breasts he put his cock between them then moaned a fuck!.
he thrusted in & out of your tits, pretty pink little tip peeping out & hitting your chin. “god those tits were made f’me hm!” fuck he loved fucking your tits even before you married he always came on them loving the feeling when your two boobs squeezed his cock to a perfect level, that he could sit like this for hours, he loved seeing your fucked out face, knowing you’d be 100x aroused when he’s doing so.
he sped as he caught up on his orgasm then cum was all over your tits.
“shit you look so pretty like this.” he commented “o-only for you min” you said panting, “let’s go get cleaned up” he picked you up bridal style, funny how you were a bride two weeks ago.
at the end you two did not get washed.
instead you guys fucked for a couple of rounds till his & your cum was mixed & getting out of your swollen cunt.

good looking
Tumblr media
somehow, even when he was dead asleep, arm lolled off the edge of the bed, jess was gorgeous. the moon was shining in through the curtain that neither of you had been bothered to pull shut when you'd gotten into bed that evening. it gave him a light, a shine that cooled in skin in the summer heat, making him almost ethereal.
you couldn't sleep. the rest of the day had been so incredible, you weren't able to stop thinking about it, and as a result, you had watched him fall asleep and been unable to follow suit.
first it had been a trip to one of the many cafes in the centre of new york, breakfast on him, then a day thrifting through record shops and bookstores together, getting together a good selection of both vintage books and vinyls for the both of you. then, surprise tickets to the strokes' one-off show where you spent the evening shouting the lyrics to reptillia and hard to explain with him wrapped around you, occasional kisses pressed against your neck.
the night had ended wonderfully, as assumed.
only now, you couldn't stop thinking about it. because there he was laying, fast asleep and peaceful. not a single worry in his mind at all. earlier in the day, he'd told you this was one of the best days he'd ever had. you knew a lot about his childhood, growing up, his mum, luke, everyone. he struggled.
but he didn't struggle anymore. it was looking like his book was going to be a hit, you both shared an apartment in new york and he was able to go and see luke whenever he needed.
he stirred, grumbling. "i can feel you staring, babe."
"I'm not..." you laughed, moving a hand to thread through his hair, breathing in the hum he let out at the contact.
"liar." jess smiled sleepily, forcing his eyes open.
you pouted, brushing a thumb against his cheek. "but my pants aren't on fire?"
"you aren't wearing any." he grins, peaking a look under the thin duvet, running a hand around your waist and pulling you close, his lips resting against your neck.
humming, you snuggled into him. "and whose fault is that?"
he squeezed your waist. "guilty, what can I say? you certainly enjoyed it, there's no denying that fact, sweetheart."
"i love you."
"love you too, and. thank you."
you spun around to face him, a hand against his jaw as your eyebrows furrowed. "why are you thanking me? you planned it all, I should be thanking you."
he shook his head, looking over your face in detail. "not just for today. for everything. you saved me."
sending him a warm smile was easy. "you saved yourself, jess."
"but you standing by me made it easier." he mumbled, tucking a stray strand of your hair behind your ear. "really, I mean it. I wouldn't be where I am today if it weren't for you."
"now I know that's a lie." you laughed under your breath, not quite understanding where this whole conversation was coming from, five minutes ago he was fast asleep and now... "you started the book before you met me, you were a good way through as well."
he paused for a second, breathing in deeply. "i probably would have given up if it weren't for you, you truly saved me."
"honey." you pouted at him.
"hmm, shut up, it's 4 in the morning, of course I'm acting like this, leave me alone." he grumbled, pulling a face at you. "woke me up with your damn staring."
you shrugged, grinning at him. "what can i say? you're good looking."
he laughed lightly, sitting up a little to see you properly. "how long until we have to be up and moving?"
"luke said he'd arrive at around 10."
jess hummed, rolling onto his back and taking your hand in his, staring at the ceiling as he thought. you watched him still, as his eyebrows twitched as the look in his eyes switched between confusion and reassurance. god, he really was gorgous. "so, that means we get up at 10. you know he'll be running late."
"as always." you paused, your face lighting up. "oh! is he bringing lorelai?"
he furrowed his eyebrows. "maybe? i can't remember what the message said now. he probably will."
you smiled, letting your head rest on his chest as his arm wrapped around your shoulder, bringing the two of you as close together as possible again. even with the thin duvet cover, his skin was still warm, and sent that same warmth through to you in the summer nightly chill. "i've still got that jumped I made for her."
"sweetheart, have you ever heard of this brilliant thing called a mail service?" he joked, the corners of his lips lifting.
"wouldn't risk a jumper." you frowned, shaking your head. "especially with the stories i've heard about the stars hollow mail service from everyone."
jess smiled, remembering all his years spent there. all the people met and hated, all the people he met and loved. everyone he ever said hello to and everyone he ever said goodbye to. "you would have really liked stars hollow, i think."
you sat up a little on your elbow, finding his eyes as he looked in detail at the expression on your face. "we could always spend christmas there one year?"
"christmas is a special time there."
"sounds like it would be." you murmur. "right, we've got six hours before we have to be awake. are we going to try and go back to sleep?"
he looked over at you. "you haven't slept yet, so yes. you need the sleep. don't think I haven't noticed how tired you've been these past couple days." he leaves a swift peck on your cheek before turning you over and wrapping an arm around your waist, nose buried into your hair.
"goodnight, my love."
"g'night sweetheart." he mumbled, letting the both of you delve back to sleep. life was pretty good. jess was pretty good (looking).

word count. 7.4k
note. this is something i’ve been working on for a while because i have no idea how to write rindō . . . >< i wanted this to have a summery shōjo feel to it, so hopefully i was able to capture it well enough ?? (also, sorry, this is a little unedited.)
i had to force myself to finish this or else i would end up forgetting about it again ! there’s only three parts to this, however, updates will be sporadic :x
Tumblr media
part one / from summer, 1999
Your fiancé has a lover in Tokyo.
He doesn’t tell you, you never ask, you just know — a woman’s intuition is never wrong. Something you learned from your dear mother.
Two nights ago, while you are both lying beside one another in bed, he complains that he has yet another business trip in Tokyo [his last one was just a few weeks ago], he asks if there is anything you would like him to buy — like that dessert you find yourself indulging in a little too much these days, a new novel to add to your collection of unread books that you swear you will get to them eventually, a new set of coffee mugs or a bouquet of your favourite flowers. You tell him, “No, it’s okay. I don’t need anything.”
He doesn’t press when you decline. Instead, he leans down to capture your lips with his before he leaves; the wind rushes by, chilling over the spot he had touched. His “I’ll miss you” never reaches you, carrying with it the ghosts of your past. His “I love you” completely passes you by. Ever-so-fleeting.
It’s been this way for a few months now. You don’t know when it first began, but the signs became more and more obvious as the days passed by. Rather than sadness or anger, you don’t really feel anything anymore. Only regret remains. Those memories and promises you both made together are beginning to fade. And what seems to make your heart shake is that you don’t know what to do, despite change and abandonment seemingly always following after you. Time and time again. Even after all these seasons, you are still lost.
When summer burns, or when fireworks spark up the midnight sky, you feel it on your tongue and skin as the same memories fill your mind once again. That summer night by the river’s edge. And summer nights following that — all of them are unforgettable, always leaving you feeling the bittersweet taste of citrus and honey drowning in the back of your throat. Too sweet, too sour.
No matter where you are in the world, a spirit of a little girl clinging onto the sandbox of an old playground remains in Roppongi. Abandoned, yet not once forgotten. Your flesh, blood, and bones will always be made up of Rindō and Ran from way back then. You hold these memories deep in your heart so preciously like a collection of little treasures as you continue to grow older.
A quarter before midnight, the moon is down and clouded by the fog; you take the train all the way to Roppongi. It’s strangely empty inside, you cannot see what lies outside. Tired and uneasy, the sound of the midnight train running across the tracks lulls you to sleep.
You are eleven when your mother drops you off at your grandfather’s house all the way in Roppongi during the summer; miles away from the countryside you grew up in. She doesn’t wait for your grandfather to open the door to come and greet you. She yells out how she will see you in a few weeks, the engine roars, and she is gone.
You have never met any grandparents before. Your mother doesn’t like to talk about them, so you never ask, not wanting to overstep the invisible line (she is scary when she is in a foul mood). You learn to be a good child because you want to see your mother smile again — she stopped smiling for months now, and you don’t know why. However, you believe she will feel better once she picks you up in a few days.
After all, adults need their rest as well (or something like that).
You soon also learn that your grandfather is a tall, scary man. A seemingly permanent scowl, a low and gruff voice that is only heard through a few words. A strong scent of alcohol lingers on the collar of his shirt – one you sometimes smell on your mother’s breath – he looks at you so emptily, then sighs. The chill in the air prickles against your exposed skin, you gulp.
No matter how silent of a man he is, you are a good daughter, so you introduce yourself to him and thank him for letting you stay with him — “I’ve always imagined meeting you, grandpa. I saw you in a picture before!”
These words seem to catch his attention. His tracks stop, he doesn’t look back, and all you can see is his wide back. You hear him mumble something beneath his breath, you don’t catch any of the words — you weren’t meant to. Something sticks out about your grandfather. Something you can’t help, but focus on is his missing a pinky. You try not to stare, and he doesn’t say anything when he catches your innocent, curious eyes. Rather, he doesn’t say anything at all to you and you can’t help but become overly sensitive to every draw of his breath.
You wish you were back home in that little countryside town, tucked far away from this bizarre place. You want your mother to come and pick you up.
You would rather be at home with her than here.
Surprisingly, you got more sleep than you expected last night. This is your first time sleeping in a bed that doesn’t belong to you; in a place that is so foreign to you.
And you guess it wasn’t so bad. The mattress is a lot softer than the one back at home.
Breakfast is simple and traditional. A bowl of steamed rice, fried mackerel with a side of nattō (you don't like the smell, but you try your best to swallow the beans without making any faces, and fail). The mackerel on your plate is neatly pulled apart, bones discarded, and you smile to yourself. Your grandfather is more attentive — kinder than he looks. Your teachers have always told you and your classmates to never judge someone based on their appearance.
“Um . . . Grandpa?” Silence is met with your call. However, you take that silence as a sign to continue speaking. “Can I, uh, may I go outside for a little bit?”
“There’s a park nearby,” he simply replies with a few words before directing his attention back onto the television.
Your eyes brighten. “Okay, thank you!”
Quickly shoving down your breakfast, you’re out the door and ready to play.
So, your grandfather isn’t the greatest at giving directions. After some twists and turns and walking back and forth, it is not too hard to find the park he vaguely described.
There's a group of kids playing on the playground, dangling off the monkey bars and sitting around. Too shy to approach, you shuffle over to the swing set, and rock yourself back and forth.
After some moments of swinging, and looking back at them to your feet, you hear a bunch of footsteps heading towards you.
You look up in anticipation and nervously smile at the group of boys in front you. Maybe they want to join you? [Hopefully.] “Um, hi! Did you want to—” Your words are immediately cut off as someone steps right in front of you.
“Get off.”
“H-huh?”
“H-huh?” A boy mocks with a high pitch tone and your cheeks heat up when you hear laughter surrounding you.
“Get off so we can play,” this one stands in front of you, hair short with a red cap in his hand. “You can hear properly, right?”
Someone says, “No, I don’t think she can.”
Another laughs.
The short-haired boy glares at you, hand reaching over and tugs on your hair — hard. You yelp as your hand immediately wraps around his wrist. “We told you to move, so move,” he harshly shouts and you flinch as your ear rings.
You don’t understand why they’re mad or why they are telling you to leave. This has never happened to you back at home before.
You yell at the boy to let go of you, pushing his arm away as hard as you can. However, this action only leads him to pull hard this time. You yelp. The group breaks out into snickers and grins.
Traitorously, your body betrays you as tears gather in the corner of your eyes. You don’t want to cry — you don’t like crying, never wanting anyone to see your tears. But you feel so helpless and lost and alone.
"Hey, wait, you're gonna make her cry. . .” Someone speaks up and for a second, you’re hopeful.
“I’m not even doing it hard. She’s just being a baby,” the short-haired boy scoffs before he accuses, “why do you care? You like her?”
His face flushes, and beneath the thick frames of his glasses, his widened eyes shake. “No way!”
“I bet you think she’s pretty.”
The boy gags as he takes great strides away from you. His arms cross over his chest as he yells, “Gross. Over my dead body.”
“Oh, is that so?”
It’s a voice that comes out of nowhere, causing you to jump. Colour drained from the faces in front of you; awfully, sickly pale.
And it comes fast all too fast — someone running in between you and the group of boys with a flying fist. Another one and another one. Colour falls from your cheeks mirroring the group and unlike them, you find yourself unable to move. To run away. You think you see a drop of red splattered on the concrete as you tightly shut your eyes, your body shakes and you cover your ears in an attempt to block the sound.
Someone cries. Screams, shoes smacking against the pavement, and laughter — one both loud and taunting. Then all of a sudden, everything goes silent. Hesitantly, you slowly open your eyes. Purple fills your entire vision. You jump at the sudden close proximity, you can feel their hair tickling your cheek as he leans in close to you.
There’s glass covering purple gems.
The boy asks, "Are you good?”
You slowly nod, “Thank you for, um . . . helping me?” You say this rather confusingly, unable to comprehend everything that had happened within minutes. You take a step back as you look around, you don’t see any of those boys from earlier. They vanished as if they were never here, the footprints made in the sandpit and droplets of blood remind you otherwise.
Your eyes fall towards his hands that punched those bullies — knuckles all red, you bite your lip to conceal your quivering lips. You turn to the taller boy with no visible cuts or bruises, only a smug grin on his face that matches with the one in front you, and you thank him as well. When you take a better look at him, you notice the two of them sort of look similar.
He looks down at you and waves a hand dismissively. “Don’t worry about it. Those guys were lame for ganging up on you. They always pick fights with people weaker than them.”
“Right, those idiots got what was coming for them,” the other boy adds with a laugh. “Are you not from around here?”
You shake your head.
“Thought so. Haven’t seen you around here before. So, what’s your name? I’m Rindō, and that’s my older brother, Ran,” the boy – Rindō – introduces.
You tell them your name and thank them once again.
“Uh-uh. Just tell us if they bother you again. We’ll deal with it,” says Ran.
You perk up, “You will?”
“Yeah, Roppongi belongs to the Haitani brothers.”
Roppongi belongs to the two boys who don’t seem older than you. Confused, you ask, “Are you guys protectors or something? Like heroes?”
Your words are met with snorts that evolve into laughter. Beside you, Rindō gives you a toothy grin as he readjusts his glasses. “I guess if that’s what you think, then sure.”
The heroes of Roppongi.
The sun is shining and his smile glows.
Meeting the Haitani brothers was probably nothing special, a similar story that could be told by countless people during their youth. However, to you, an eleven-year-old girl being picked on at the playground, helpless and tear-stained, they seemed like your heroes. So bright and blinding. A moment that changes your entire life.
Ran and Rindō have come to knock on the door to your grandfather’s house nearly everyday since then. When the old man opens it to see two unfamiliar children, he sighs before calling out your name (which makes your heart jump from your chest from how loud his voice can be). And you’re quick to slip on your old running shoes and bolt out the door.
Rindō tells you he found a cool place the other day, a hidden room at the back of an old shrine, and he wants to show it to you. Keeping up with the Haitanis is hard; chasing after them is even harder. Their legs aren’t that much longer than yours, but their strides are far too long, too fast.
Rindō is kind enough to slow down, only for a moment. “You’re too slow,” he complains before grabbing your hand and pulls you along to keep up with them. Without noticing, you don’t trip over your own feet anymore.
“Careful, Rindō,” Ran lowly warns as his hand reaches out and wraps around Rindō’s wrist, pulling him away from walking up the stone steps. The tall, red torii gate looms above. A crow lingers at the very top. “Don’t you know young children get spirited away here?”
“Huh? Spirited away? Like the movie?”
“No, no. Not the film, Rin,” Ran snickers at his brother’s words, you don’t understand what Ran finds so funny. And Rindō doesn’t seem to know either, but his face is red and he looks mad at Ran. “The legends. Haven’t you heard that the yōkai will come and snatch you up? They take away children who run off alone. They’ll come to get you, dummy.”
Rindō shakes his head, staring up at his brother with skeptical lavender eyes. “No way. You’re just trying to scare me again. I won’t fall for it anymore, nii-chan.”
“Nuh-uh, ‘m serious this time.” Ran says this so lightly, it sounds unconvincing.
Rindō's glare hardens as he crosses his arm. “Okay. Why are you such a liar these days?”
“Am not.”
“Yes, you are.”
“No—”
You block out their childish bickering — they always seem to do this. It’s always Ran who seems to start it. And through their yelling, an old memory flashes in your mind. Your head perks up in remembrance as you gasp.
This garners their attention because they both immediately stop their “argument” and turn to look at you.
“Wait, it is true! I heard that Tomoko-chan from the class next door visited the shrine last summer and she never returned . . .” you pitch in with the eerie rumour your classmates had whispered to each other last year — Tomoko-chan got taken away by a monster. Those words reach to the end of the long hallways and snuck into the wooden panels in the room. Kids at school don’t go anywhere alone now.
In the distance, a crow caws.
So, you learn something new: monsters also live in the city. They don’t only reside in the little town you grew up in. Monsters exist everywhere in the world.
The brothers send each other a look, one that you don’t understand, something only they know — only them. You watch as they communicate through stares alone before turning their attention back onto you.
“Really?”
Quickly nodding, you add, “Yup, it’s true. I swear. Everyone said so. She went to make a wish, and then disappeared. Her family isn’t even in town anymore.”
Ran lets out an exaggerated sigh. He crosses his arms with a half smile to his face. “See, I was looking out for you.”
“Right. Don’t you think you’ve been lying too much to me lately? At least, learn to make it believable.”
Ran laughs before quietly saying, “If you’re scared, just say so.”
The crow above the gate caws, careful, you glance up at the noise, to the long steps then to Ran, and then Rindō, who looks up at his brother clearly unimpressed.
Obviously, Rindō isn’t scared of ghosts, or yōkai, or monsters that eat children. He is already too old to believe in things like that. He protests and says this, despite you and Ran telling him otherwise, Rindō is skeptical. He says he still doesn’t believe you, he can’t believe you would make up a lie and follow Ran, and you tell him you would never lie to him or anybody. Only bad people lie.
However, the Haitani brothers are closer than anyone — they told you this when you first met, so it’s to no one’s surprise when they turn around and gang up on you instead. Because you are scared, or so Rindō insists. Ran says it’s okay because you are a girl and you’re just a baby compared to them. It’s true, you are scared of the yōkai who snatch away wandering children. You aren’t scared because of the reasons Ran says. It’s rather annoying how Ran calls you a baby for something like that.
(You don’t tell him that, though.)
The three of you don’t enter the shrine. They show you around the neighbourhood and some spots they like to hang out at, like an arcade and a newly opened ramen shop. The entire time, Ran holds both of your hands tightly, you are sure he is holding Rindō’s even tighter. Your shadows are overlapped, mixing together. The yōkai don’t come for them or you. You are safe together.
As the sun begins to set, you stop by a food stall, the old lady running it tells you that you look so pretty and you remind her of her granddaughter. She gives a discount — 100 yen for six pieces. Ran takes out the coin from his pocket and he divides the takoyaki between the three of you before heading home.
It’s quiet when you enter the house, nobody welcomes you home, but your grandfather sits in the living room watching television again. He spares you a glance, before turning his attention back to the t.v. Static and muffled voices fill the house.
A week turns into two, then three. Summer passes by quickly here in Roppongi. Everything moves so fast in the city, it’s exhilarating — overwhelming. Your little body struggles to keep up.
You run, run, and run the days away.
Again and again, you fall.
(Rindō and Ran pick you back up.)
“My mom abandoned me,” you tell Rindō one afternoon, weakly adding in, “. . . I think.” Hopefulness seeps through; a child’s innocence, your naïveté.
Underneath the big oak tree, Rindō turns to look at you while opening the blue ramune and gives it to you to drink first — he was supposed to buy two, but he forgot the rest of his change at home. He says it’s fine because he doesn’t mind sharing his drink with you. He shares drinks with Ran all the time. And you don’t mind it either.
“. . . She will,” he slowly replies, “maybe she is just busy working — adults are like that, y’know. What about your dad?”
Adults are like that, at least the ones you know. Your mom is probably busy, but either way, she lied to you and this is what hurts. You don’t try to hide your disappointment in her.
You shake your head, looking down at your swaying feet. “I don’t know.”
You really don’t know.
You don’t remember his face, eyes, and everything is blurred, but you recall his boxy smile and a heavy hand that ruffled your hair.
“I haven’t seen my dad before either. I don’t even think that guy knows I exist.”
“Oh,” you breathe out. “Are you lonely without him?”
He shakes his head, hair bouncing with every movement. “Nah, I have Ran. Even though he’s so annoying these days.”
The two [three] of you are similar in a way. It’s rather comforting knowing you aren’t the only one with a family like that.
Rindō vows to you that he will always be by your side so you aren’t alone anymore, because he has Ran, but you don’t have an older brother like Ran to stay with you.
He holds your hand — one so cold and sticky from the blue ramune. Again, he tells you that you still have him and Ran, because you are his best friend. Maybe he thinks you didn’t hear him the first time. His words are warm, so you don’t mind his cold fingers touching yours — it cools you down from the heat, even if the rest of your body is melting under the summer sun. Somehow, it always finds a way to peek through the little gaps, through the spaces between your fingers.
Together, you finish the ramune with lighter hearts.
At the end of summer, you are still at your grandfather’s house — your mother never comes to get you. That little, big, tiny feeling brewing in you all summer in Roppongi turned out to be right. But you aren’t alone.
Time flows quickly in Roppongi. Months pass by in a blink of an eye.
Coming home to the city where everything first began leaves your thoughts in a flurry; too jumbled and twisted. This house hasn’t changed one bit, walking into your old bedroom feels like a dream; both familiar and alien. A few of your old belongings still remain in place, you never have it in you to pack it up and bring them with you. Your mother hasn’t bothered to move them either.
Tonight, you help your mother make katsu curry. A staple in many households; also, the first dish you learned how to make.
You can feel your mother’s nerves as today is the day where you are officially meeting the man she is seeing (whom she had once mentioned as her new colleague over a year ago). He seemed like a normal, stand up man, but you can tell she likes him, so you don’t disapprove of him.
To calm her down (as well as your own excitement and nervousness), the two of you make small talk as you cook.
“Did you love him?”
You immediately stiffen, the knife stops just above the fresh carrots from your mother’s garden, and you don’t press down. She doesn’t say who, but you already know who she is referring to. Your heart aches without the mention of his name. A boy who isn’t your fiancé. Your soon-to-be husband. “Did you love that boy from back then?”
Your face shines in the knife, the glare of the light above makes your reflection disappear. You force yourself to focus, continuing to cutting the carrot into chunks. The sound of the knife hitting against the cutting board echoes in your ears. “Why are you mentioning that? Why are you curious about it now? It’s been too long since then.”
“I used to think you would end up marrying him in the future.”
The sentence has you turning around in surprise. You harshly swallow, forcing a short laugh. Your heart clogs your throat. Emotions twisting like ebbing waves. “You never even liked him,” your voice doesn’t sound less tense.
“Maybe I didn’t, but you did.” Her expression says nothing — no hatred, regret, or sadness; she is only looking at you so clearly — right through to your leaking heart. All you wish is to run and hide from that all-knowing gaze of hers, you wish you never turned around. “For some people, they are only capable of loving one person their entire life. There’s a saying that nobody forgets about their first loves and for those people, sometimes their first love lasts forever.”
Some people, she says. By this, she means you.
The ring that sits prettily on your finger feels too heavy, squeezing your finger.
“. . . That already ended so long ago,” softly, you say.
The doorbell rings, cutting through the tense atmosphere. There’s an exchange of looks — her expression soft as she offers a small smile of condolence.
The man – Mr. Hajime – arrives earlier than expected. You follow behind your mother as she opens the door and you see bright red roses before you see him. Your mother’s cheeks turn red as she bashfully smiles while accepting the bouquet.
He enters the home and when you meet his eyes, you smile and nod in acknowledgment. Mr. Hajime stops in front of you, pulling out a bouquet with a variety of flowers; of blues and whites.
“Thank you,” you say as he places the flowers in your hand.
His smile is awfully gentle. His eyes match that gentleness, too. An old, loving soul. “No, I should be the one thanking you. It’s nice to finally meet you. Your mother often talks about you.”
You smile as a reply.
You wish to know what she has said. And maybe you will ask him another time, you know you will. There’s no doubt you will be meeting him again and again.
Mr. Hajime moves with familiarity in the house as if he has been here many times before (you wouldn’t doubt if he has). He makes his way to the dining room as he turns on an old song on your grandfather’s beloved record player. You don’t know the title, but you remember hearing it play many times back when you were a kid. It sounds so nostalgic.
As the three of you eat dinner, a younger image of your mother and you eating in silence overlap, and the bittersweet feeling at how much your mother has grown begins to hit you. Despite her fading black hair and the grays that replace them, and the barely noticeable wrinkles around her eyes; the look in her eyes seems younger — happier.
You’ve never seen her like this before. Her heart races for her — her love for Mr. Hajime and the happiness he brings to her. You’re happy for her, you really are.
This street and this house bring back so many memories; memories of times that will never come again and new ones are being created. And even more in the future.
Nostalgia continues to devour you. Your heart is aching in many different ways.
A year passes by, you don’t hear from Rindō or Ran after a few weeks of sending letters back and forth, and occasional phone calls made on your house line when your mother works overtime on Saturday nights.
Ran had warned you beforehand that he doesn’t do handwritten letters or phone calls or emails [whatever that means], you think he may just not want to talk to you, and strangely, you don’t take much offence in it. Like Rindō has always said, Ran is Ran, he does things his own way. Plus, you had already assumed you would hear updates on Ran from Rindō, however your assumption turns out to be wrong.
Tons of calls and letters left unanswered. You send another one, your final letter to him.
2002 年 4月 22日
Hi Rindō,
I know it’s been a while since my last letter and I haven’t received one back from you either. I make sure to check the mailbox twice a week! I really will be upset if you don’t reply or call me this time for real.
The new year started recently and I’m being forced to join a club this time. Kaa-san is still busy with work, and she comes home exhausted, so I decided to join the culinary club. Coming home to a cooked meal is something everyone likes, right? I am not really confident in my cooking skills though. . .
I miss you and Ran a lot. It’s lonely here without you guys. I hope you haven’t forgotten about me. I won’t forgive you if you did. Write to me soon, okay? I want to know what you have been up to.
And it’s no shocker when there’s no response to it.
Your initial bitterness eventually fades into nothing but nostalgia.
As the years go on, you forget all about the Haitani brothers and Roppongi. Their faces become more and more blurred with each passing month. You must’ve been erased from their memory — a little childhood memory too dazed to remember.
Junior high is harder than it seems — making friends doesn’t come easy, you spend the majority of your time alone. But ever since you joined the culinary club in your second year, everyone there is friendly and supportive, and things begin to change. School becomes a little more fun, and sometimes, you don’t mind waking up so early in the morning.
You find yourself trapped in the middle of a circle. All eyes on you. Ones full of anticipation.
And of course, this could only be one thing — gossiping. They talk about love stories, first kisses, and boys. Unfortunately, the target today is none other than you.
“No, I don’t have a crush on anyone," you firmly state. It’s the third time this week you've been asked this question, you don’t understand why everyone is so curious.
“Ehh, don’t lie!” Sachiko playfully nudges you with a giggle. Eyes piercing into yours, and you inaudibly sigh at her skepticism. You don’t budge when she continues to push and she pouts. “Fine, fine. What about Naoki-kun from the baseball team?”
A chorus of ‘Ahh’s’ and giggles erupt in the room. A telling sign of the boy’s popularity. Even someone like you, who doesn’t care much about boys [yet] knows about him. From what you heard, he spends most of his time practicing baseball and he only dated one girl during his first year for only a week. He’s more serious than he seems, yet he gets along with everyone, parents and teachers included.
He’s good-looking. You aren’t blind, you know this much, but you don’t think you like short hair so much — even if Naoki-kun’s short hair suits him quite well. Still, you end up timidly agreeing with your club members, wishing to get this over with. “Mhm, I think Naoki-kun is kinda cute . . .”
"Oh my gosh . . .”
“Ah, I knew it,” someone says. “I mean, most girls like him, so it’s obvious, right?"
You never said anything about liking Naoki-kun in a romantic way, you just said he was kinda cute (you guess). You just shrug and the topic moves onto how a student in the grade below you had caught the new teacher from class 2-b and the principal on a date. Your married principal. A classic love affair. The rumour echoes down the streets in the town, forever spiralling.
And in the early morning of May, 2003, your mother enters the house again and you think she may have forgotten something before heading off to work. Instead, she tosses a letter on the kitchen table. She says it’s for you. It’s plain. A white envelope with no decorations — you immediately know it’s not from one of your friends from school and your heart races in anticipation even before you grab it. You flip it over to see if it says who it’s from.
And it does. It’s a letter sent from Roppongi — a letter from Haitani Rindō.
Time slows and your heart beats loudly in your ears. The wind leading into summer suddenly doesn’t feel so slow; the morning birds chirp in tune of your heartbeat.
It was already the end of June, you blow out your candles. Another June goes by and you graduate from junior high.
You are sixteen when you meet Rindō and Ran again.
They surprise you at the train station, and when you see them, you don’t recognise them at all. It feels like you don’t know who they are. They’re suddenly a lot taller, more mature with matching tattoos and dyed hair that you don’t see people your age with — and to their defence, they have always had dyed hair back when you first met. There’s an intimidating air to them which draws you in. An edge you should look out for. One step and you will fall.
Your grandfather has also changed — barely, but you can see he looks a little smaller than you remember him to be. Older, too. There’s wrinkles around his eyes and mouth — ones due to his permanent frown. Yet his eyes feel warm, they soften when he looks at you.
Ran doesn’t really hang out nor talk to you anymore. During your trip there, he spends most days out and sometimes Rindō tags along with him, in which you stay at home with your grandfather or go shopping. And when you first caught them with bruises on their faces and torn skin on their knuckles, you cried. Catching them two and three more times didn’t make it any better.
You knew from first glance that Rindō and Ran are what people call delinquents, you aren’t blind when faced with the obvious. It feels strange seeing your childhood friends like this — the violence indulge in.
(You couldn’t believe it when you first learned the reason as to why you haven’t heard from Rindō in a long, long time. It’s still hard to believe, but when you see them like this, you can’t refuse it.)
It gradually builds into a routine, always finding yourself in the Haitani home while their mother is away at work. Forcing Rindō down onto his bed as you clumsily clean up his wounds, shaky, and unable to look away. Fretting over the way they’ve been hurt like a mother to her children (this is how their own mother probably feels coming home to be greeted by bruised faces). A burned cd of his favourite songs plays in the background. Quietly, because you’re both afraid of Ran waking up.
“Stop looking at me like that.” His tone is anything, but harsh. His sigh is heavy, yet soft. “You gotta stop worrying at this point. It’s nothing you haven’t seen before.”
You immediately frown as you glare up at him. “I worry because you don’t.”
“You know it’s not as bad as it looks. Can barely feel a thing. You’ve got nothin’ to worry about.”
You quickly retort, “It is . . . Why do you keep saying that? Every time I see you, you are injured. That’s not normal.” Growing more frustrated at his lack of self-care, you softly glare at his tattered hand. You mumble, “What are you and your brother even up to?” More so to you, than to Rindō.
However, he hears you. He laughs, more rather airy than his usual boastful one. “Aren’t you too nice?”
“No, I’m not,” you mutter. “Something like this is normal.”
“I guess that means my world isn’t so normal. I don’t know anyone else like you.”
Those pretty amethyst eyes draw you in. You shake your head, replying, “You will meet others like me. Caring about someone who is hurt is nothing special. It’s . . . it’s human to do so.” You hold his hand carefully in yours, inspecting the cloth to make sure it’s securely wrapped. Thumb brushing over the fabric.
“There’s only you.”
The room falls silent. The track slowly fades into the next. Your heart races.
Rindō coughs into his sleeve. “Um, I meant that I only know you. The guys I know aren’t really like that at all.”
It may be your mind playing tricks on you. The way he looks and sounds — his every gesture feels too tender to be Rindō. It’s odd, not him. Your eyes must be playing tricks on you too because the look in Rindō’s eyes seems too gentle and intimate. You look away.
“You have Ran, who cares about you a lot,” you point out, eyes looking anywhere but at him.
He quietly chuckles, “Yeah. That’s just Ran though. You know how he is.”
You vaguely reply, “I guess so.”
“You know so.”
“Everyone knows so,” you softly add, “just take of yourself more. Please.”
You lift your eyes for a split second, and he meets you within it. Rindō softly smiles, “Okay. I will, so you won’t cry anymore.”
You can’t look at him for too long without feeling your face flush, it gets too hot, and the unfamiliar feeling of butterflies that invade your stomach, pooling, itching to explode whenever he smiles at you. He makes you so nervous and you don’t know how to react. You’ve never felt this type of nervousness with someone before.
“I don’t cry.”
“I sure hope you won’t.”
You don’t know how to act.
That night, once Ran awakens from his nap, the three of you decide to hang outside. Roppongi is not similar to the countryside in any shape or form and you’re no longer surprised to see the city awake during these late nights. This city is always brighter after midnight.
Rindō had run off to the nearest konbini for drinks due to him losing three rounds of rock-paper-scissors [really, who actually chooses rock], and you and Ran are squatting down by the riverbank with sparklers burning in your hands. Rindō will probably be annoyed that the two of you started without him the second he ran off, but it’s Ran fault if anything. He’s the one who made you grab the sparklers and lit them himself.
However, Rindō wouldn’t be surprised by this, because everyone knows how impatient Ran can be at times.
“Y’know, on summer nights like this, the main character and her love interest would light sparklers together—” Ran begins to say with his sparkler dangles above yours, burning so fast and bright, “—and they will become stuck together. It stays like that, and that is usually when something in their relationship changes. . . I saw it in a shōjo anime before.” He pulls the end of his sparkler before his and yours get the chance to become tangled, and smiles softly at you. Ran looks pretty — prettier than most celebrities you see on television and magazine covers. He’s probably popular with girls.
And you assume, Rindō, too. He’s definitely no less popular than his brother. This thought immediately makes everything feel sour, your smile falters and you look back down at the sparklers. A pile of ash building below. The flames are bright, rushing into your eyes and leaves your head dizzy.
It’s quite beautiful; the way sparks flicker and dimming ashes fall around you. Vanishing within moments it hits the ground.
“You learned that from a shōjo anime?”
He replies with a shrug. “I mean, yeah. It’s a popular trope these days. I know you girls are into those types of things. Quite romantic, hm?”
You nod and don’t try to hide your smile. You didn’t think Ran was into anime like that. You didn’t know he was a romantic type of guy.
“Don’t laugh,” Ran scoffs. “You’ve become quite rude, huh.”
“I’m not! I just thought it was cute,” you huff in defense.
“Uh-huh.”
He rolls his eyes in which you mockingly repeat back, and you both laugh.
So, Ran is a little different these days. He’s all grown, almost unrecognisably so. But he is still your friend — there is still the Ran you knew back then there inside of him. And you think, he and Rindō could probably say the same about you. Change is inevitable, it comes hand-in-hand with growing up.
“So, this is something you do with someone you love. . .” you mutter his words to yourself. “Why aren’t you doing it with someone you love—well, uh, have you?”
It’s silent. A croak of a frog, a call of a cicada. His answer lies in his silence and it’s sad to hear, because beneath everything, Ran is someone with lots of love to give. It’s unfortunate how he’s never once liked to wear his heart on his sleeve, hidden away deep in a metal cage. He is a nice guy, really. So sweet to Rindō — sometimes towards you.
Ran shakes his head, redirecting the conversation to you. Something he always seems to do. “Why aren’t you?”
You . . . ?
Attentive with the eyes of a hawk, Ran picks up on your confusion within seconds. He tells you not to mind his words which only makes you feel more lost — heart racing. You think Ran knows something, but you do not know what. The unknown is always terrifying and you want to know.
Ran wants an answer that you cannot provide. Beginning to feel warm underneath your thin clothes, you grow anxious under his heavy stare, yet can’t find it in yourself to look away.
His eyes drift for a second and light from the sparklers fall in. He looks back at you, then cocks his head in the opposite direction. Curious, you follow his line of sight — Rindō.
Immediately, you take this opportunity to run. You hand the remains of your incense stick to Ran as you jump up, dusting off the dirt and ash that may have gotten on your clothes. Running up the stone steps, meeting him halfway (you pay no mind to Ran who yells that you got dirt on him). Your shadows reach before your bodies do, overlapping underneath the flickering lamp post.
“Rindō! Why’d you take so long?” You ask while leaning in, folding your hands behind your back. His blond locks are messy and sticking to his forehead instead of styled in his usual fashion, red cheeks and his chest is raising up and down as he breathes. “Did’ya run here? You’re looking a little red . . .”
He lets out an exasperated sigh, visibly annoyed with a prominent scowl on his face. “This idiot in front of me was taking his sweet fuckin’ time,” he replies, his glasses shift down his nose bridge and you reach your hand up to fix it. However, before you can, he grabs your wrist (a sudden yet gentle gesture) completely stopping you.
You awkwardly mutter, “Um. Sorry . . . ?”
Rindō blinks before letting go of your hand, shaking his head. “Ah, no,” he clears his throat, “I got it. Thanks.”
Opening the plastic bag, he holds a bottle of ramune towards you. The little spot he touched burns, and it’s then when Rindō asks you what’s wrong because you had suddenly froze in your movements. “Did you want a different flavour? I think I saw a strawberry one left,” he offers, “or you can take my drink. It’s beer, though. You don’t drink, right?”
“No, no. I like it. I prefer the original one,” you decline as you take the drink from his hand. Fingers brushing against his cold ones. “Thanks, Rin.”
“I do, too. It’s my favourite.”
His favourite, yet he had replaced it for some cheap canned alcohol — he and Ran aren’t even old enough to drink, but you don’t really care, either. Things like that strangely suit them.
You bite your tongue when you almost reply, I know. However, you do respond with a brief, “Really?”
“Yeah. It’s a necessity on summer days, y’know?”
You can’t help, but agree. “That’s why I like it.”
“Yeah, I know.”
And you wonder if Rindō remembers everything that happened the summer the both of you first met — you do. Those summer days spent underneath the shade side by side sharing melting popsicles and ramune, running around Roppongi and challenging each other at the arcade games. Aiding new cuts and bruises that appear on the brother’s bodies, Rindō would place a bandaid on your hands and knees every time you had fallen down trying to catch up to them, and whispering secrets only meant for the two of you to know [ones Ran comes to know, unsurprisingly]. You miss those summer days, and you don’t want to see the end of this one too.
Days with the Haitani brothers are unforgettable — so special, a feeling nothing can replace. Your hometown has never once felt like this.
Nobody has made you feel this way before.
You bring the ramune to your mouth, sweetness dissolves on your tongue, your lips tingle, and your heart burns and burns and burns.
—Bang!
A sudden sharp noise causes you to jump, droplets of your drink splash onto your thin shirt and down your chest. The culprit is none other than Rindō, who had bought firecrackers along with the drinks — setting it off a little too close to him and Ran, bursting right beneath their feet. Rindō laughs uproariously due to your surprised expression — so loud and clear, it cuts through the cicadas’ callings, passing cars, and the booming of firecrackers. His smile is like the warmth of summer; brighter than sparklers and the sea of little stars above. Your cheeks heat up, and all you can see is him.
At this moment, it’s two a.m. at the end of July when everything hits you like a huge tidal wave. Oh. You understand it now.
This feeling burns into you.
Everything feels like summer.
