just had a canon divergence idea where the order arrives late and Harry accidentally kills Lucius Malfoy in the department of mysteries. The shock factor gives them the ability to quickly stun and take down the other death eaters. Knowing he’s already on thin ice with the ministry and doubtful, especially after a year of being ignored, of Dumbledore being able to or even willing to wrangle him out of punishment again, he realises he has to go on the run. Of course, when Ron, Hermione, Ginny, Luna and Neville all figure out that Harry’s not planning to return to hogwarts, they try to convince him out of it but he’s too scared of getting his wand snapped, and the magnitude of what he’s done (killed a prominent political figure) is really hitting him. At this point, he harbours a very real fear that he might be sent to Azkaban. They, after a few loaded looks, set their jaws and say that they’re not going back either, that they’re going wherever he goes. Harry tells them how much harder it is is to stay hidden in a group of 6 and forces Ginny and Luna to stand down. Neville gives him a tougher time (because Harry can’t use his age against him) but he also backs down when harry reminds him of his broken wand and how he won’t be able to get a new one at all if he’s known as Harry’s accomplice. Ron and Hermione flat out tell him to stop acting like a dickhead and even mentioning how their families would react doesn’t deter them. There’s no way they’re letting Harry go alone. Harry promises to use the galleon to contact Neville, Ginny and Luna and let them know how they can help. Now the golden trio are on the run! How i see the rest going is just the order frantically trying to track them down, to plea for Harry to return but Harry, now totally mistrustful and unwilling to believe that he’ll face no repercussions for killing lucius, just refuses. Sirius is out looking for them too; Dumbledore has now proven he’s incapable of looking after his godson so he’ll have to do it himself. And yeah everything is a mess!
