I think "we don't have the infrastructure" is true but for the reason that infrastructure has to include workers and users. Trump and right wing media downplayed Covid for... they're still doing it. To put it bluntly, there's no way the police in this country would have applied Covid restrictions equally - this would have literally just been another excuse to arrest black (and likely Asian because of how much trump played up their role in the event) people.

They got the vaccine infrastructure working super fast - it isn't that the us didn't have the resources we had some scary other crap going on. There was a plot to kidnap (and possibly assassinate) the governor of Michigan (i think) for having harsher Covid restrictions.

I worked in retail during the pandemic because money, and some lady yelled at me because the store sold masks made in China. I wouldn't have signed up to make minimum wage at a state border checkpoint, I would have been endlessly verbally abused, and possibly even physically attacked.

You can't make infrastructure work when half the country believes it's useless at best and actively oppressing/attacking them (i know it isn't) at the worst. We were fucked from the get go. But you are right, we have the manpower to have gotten the things you mentioned done... just not the uh... idk political climate(?) to do so safely imo we can't even guarantee affordable healthcare because ~corruption~ and ~fake communism panic~

i defnintely agree with this, and honestly we are starting to see protests like this along state borders and in state capitals. like there is a huge spike in ivermectin (?) imports, and q anon is really gaining ground here. one of our prime minister's best friends is a believer in the conspiracy! we also had the army called in to enforce lockdown in NSW, and it was definitely used as a tool to racially target immigrant communities, as well as mistreat people of lower socio economic status. we have had our problems too, i sympathise.

our federal government has ALSO downplayed the severity of this virus, and stoked conspiracism and resentment among the populous.

honestly, your government has so poorly managed the entire pandemic, and so has ours. the only reason western australia is covid free is because we have high trust in the government, and a really transparent and widely liked premier who has been rewarded at every turn. like people got pissed every time he called a hard lockdown, but after the 3 days we would have 0 cases. he went ugly early, was open with the public, and now people trust him.

im just confused as to why individual states didnt try what he did, by saying that you could live freely in the state so long as people from other states couldnt enter. because like i dont wear a mask anywhere, i go clubbing every weekend, life is entirely normal here. but we just dont have interstate travel into WA, and the people are really happy about that. if policy was put in place to allow freedoms, but SAFELY, surely there could have been pockets of low covid, with a begrudgingly happy population.

but then again, maybe half of the american electorate really is past rationality and reason.

okay so thoughts....I generally dont like the party system i think its ridiculous the system was not designed for it, and its now more about loyalty then the actual candidates. I also am really hesitant to put another strait white male in the oval office, especially one thats from “the lucky few” I.E. the smallest voting generation in the country and also the one that already holds the most positions. That being said, at this point its really anyone but trump and I think bidens got the experience to turn things around. 

I AM IN SCHOOL I CANNOT VOTE. I am relying on all my older friends, followers, neighbors, and community members. To make an educated decision that wont further degrade the once hopeful future my generation awaits. Please if you can vote VOTE the kids are relying on you!

Why am I more politically active then people twice my age you might ask? Well, thats because adults are lazy and need to get of their gd asses and VOTE.
