What's your thoughts about the unifications?
Conceptually, unification works. Honestly, I think it makes sense being able to dual wield Miraculous. Especially working off positive and negative energy/yin-yang.
Tumblr media
It works off that theme of balance, having two different energies being able to work together.
But, much like anything in canon, I feel the concept could've gone farther.
Like, I think it'd be neat that unification could lead to animals that don't exist as Miraculous:
Ladybug + any feline creates a Leopard themed hero.
Any bug + any reptile creates a Dragonfly themed hero.
Any reptile + any bird creates a Dragon themed hero.
Any cat + any bird creates a Griffin themed hero.
Horse + Fish could've made a Seahorse themed hero.
Cat + Goat could've made a Chimera themed hero.
Not that they really went that way and just went weird with the naming, combing the names of preexisting heroes instead of letting characters name themselves and working off their own unique personalities. Like, instead of Pegabug, I could've seen Marinette calling herself Appaloosa or if you want to go punny, Appleloosa.
I also think that dual wielding Miraculous shouldn't be that difficult, as pairs are something that always exist, and I can see the body handling matching with two different types of magical energy. Now, wielding more than 2 I can see being set up to take a toll on the body as there's more magical energy to work off of, and the higher you go the more tired you're going to be.
Though I could just be biased as I feel the temporary heroes weren't necessary and Marinette and Adrien could've juts unified with the rest and continue to handle things; I also feel that, post meeting Fu and him able to see that they were trustworthy and dedicated and were able to succeed despite HM having the being an adult edge, they should've gotten a 2nd Miraculous to have full time, not only to help give them a boost, but also allow continued growth.
Ladybug/Tikki did help with Marinette's growth in confidence and being a leader, but there's nothing else TIkki is adding to her growth (which I find it's kinda debatable how much Tikki really added to Marinette's over all growth), but at this time, Ladybug and Tikki just work off this is a responsibility than something for Marinette to grow as a character. And now she's developing an Atlas complex and that anxiety is getting worse with the pressure and expectation of the role and no one there telling Marinette she needs to prioritize and value her own needs and wants. I don't even know if this girl knows how to relax at this point. And that there is the next phase for Marinette's growth. She needs to learn to put down boundaries, to say no, to not involve herself as much, and think about her own needs and wants, cause you can't really help others until you help yourself.
Cat/Plagg was good for Adrien to gain that independence he wants, be more rebellious against his father, and to self-prioritize. But now he prioritizes his wants way too much, doesn't really treat heroing with the seriousness required nor has he stepped up as a leader and equal to Ladybug, and still readily endangers himself, to the point of self-sacrificing. And that's the next phase for his growth, get a Miraculous and kwami that will address those, learn to be more serious in fights, not to say he can no longer be a wisecrack but save the flirting and pranks for night patrols not akuma fights, step up as a leader and truly share that burden, which would've helped his partner rely on him more and trust his capability more, and address that self-sacrificing. Either learn to be more cautious or think a little bit more before acting. Like, great, you saved your partner by sacrificing yourself, but you also left her alone to deal with things, and what if the fight went poorly because she was alone, and she fails, and that sacrifice was pointless. I don't know how many more times he did so, but man it needed to be addressed.
Another factor is that unification could've been extra interesting in that combing Miraculous could've created new powers through the combination of preexisting powers.
Like Shelter + Venom could've created Shell Shock, where hitting the shield would shock and stun a target.
Shelter + Cataclysm or Clout could've made Bombshell, put up a protective dome and it sends out a destructive blast or shock wave around you.
Mirage + Cataclysm could've made Nightmare, where the illusion creates someone's worst fears.
Second Chance + Cataclysm could've made Hissterics, getting a target to live in the worst timeline.
Time travel could've existed as a unification power through combining Horse and Snake/Rabbit, if the latter still has a time power.
Though neat an idea it is, it is something that would work better with fewer Miraculous, as 19 that canon has is a lot of powers to think of possibly combining. That is 361 matches to think about and how they make a new power. And now that I got 35 I won't be doing the concept either, even more so as I'm going with Miraculous having 2 powers to offer.
So unification is a neat concept, but I think it could've gone further if they were more creative. Definitely prefer it to the potions.

The live action ATLA is amazing. 9.5/10. I didn't love everything about it, but there are so so so so many good parts and I'm so glad that Netflix decided to make this. I've seen a lot of weird criticism from long time fans and maybe I just haven't been in the fandom long enough, but. I absolutely think it's worth giving a watch if you go in with a semi blank slate. The Netlfix series is not trying to be an exact scene by scene remake of the show.
The thing about it that you have to remember when you go in is that they said they were going to change the tone of the show, and they did, and it works! It's not the same. It's not a comedy. It's funny, but it's not a comedy. Character motivations were changed to fit the darker theme. It's using Avatar as source material and intends to be an adaption, not a reconstruction of the series.
Katara is much more traumatized about her mom's death, which made sense! She was murdered in front of her. She's afraid to take on a maternal role because of that. She's quieter and softer because she's afraid and she's healing from her mother's murder. Katara in the series made sense, too, but I feel like someone looked at her and went! Wait. Smol child is maybe...not okay??? I have faith they will build her up as the seasons progress if they continue.
Hakoda is disappointed in Sokka barely passing his trial. Makes sense! They're at war! Sokka has to take care of the village, of course Hakoda has high expectations for him. And the thing is--Hakoda still trusted Sokka with the responsibility of the village anyway, so his disappointment in Sokka's trial didn't stop his faith in his son. And honestly, I think it's fine that Hakoda is not a perfect parent who never makes mistakes. Parents rant about their kids to their friends all the time. It's healthy because they're not doing it in front of, or to, their kid. Hakoda didn't know Sokka was listening. So. Idk. Sokka doesn't go through his misogyny is bad actually arc, and while I missed it, I thought he functioned really well in this story without it. And for the record!!!! Sokka STILL makes stupid jokes the entire season. He didn't lose his sense of humor.
Aang feeling so much guilt about leaving? Yep! I can vibe with that. I missed his innocence and playfulness, but I feel like this wasn't a bad take on the character either. He was still playful, but in the world they live in, it would make sense that he feels terrible for leaving. And everyone they encounter takes it upon them to rub it in his face so why wouldn't he feel bad or out of place?? Especially after Bumi. Everyone says he needs to face this alone, and Aang learning that he doesn't have to?? Powerful!! Is it the same arc as s1 of the show? No! It's not supposed to be!
Zuko's actor was perfectly cast. That boy IS Zuko. The scence at the end of e6 made me cry because it was so powerful with the 41st, and that felt so EARNED after episodes of watching Zuko's crew despise him to suddenly realizing the only reason they're alive is because of him and realizing it's an honor to shelter him. Zuko drawing Aang to pin him on his disaster wall was amazing. Him getting hit by some random woman for attacking Aang? Amazing. Him sitting next to Iroh during Lu Ten's funeral? So soft. The Agni Kai really rubbed people the wrong way, but I think it was interesting that they decided to have Zuko showing compassion be the root of Ozai's anger. He showed compassion to the 41st, he shows compassion to his father, and when Ozai has defeated him, he has him on the ground and could walk away, and he chooses to burn his face. It's not exactly the same as the show, but again, it's not intending to be.
Azula being here was interesting. I don't know if I loved Zhao being incapable of doing anything without her, but it works for what it is. Zhao is intended to be annoying and he was! So. 10/10. She cried when Zuko got his scar! Ozai playing the long hand of terrible abusive tactics made me want to bite him. Because Ozai doesn't care about Zuko. He uh. Made that pretty clear when he banished him and then at the end when he's explicitly told Zuko might have died at Agna Qel'a and he's like ????????? Am I supposed to care??? We've gotten rid of weakness. So??? Like he used Zuko to force Azula to become more ruthless. He used Zuko to shape her. I do hope we get more exploration of Ty Lee and Mai so they aren't Faceless Blorb Friends, but I just don't think there was really time in s1.
The parts they chose to remove and add into the story was interesting. You got to explore the story for the first time again. I definitely think both versions have merit and are deeply enjoyable, I just don't think you should go in expecting it to be exactly the same thing? I was happy to see a new take on the story, but that might be because I knew that it was going to be darker and the characters would adapt to that. I do hope we can get more of the vibe of the show's humor in season 2 if we get season 2, and Katara feels little more like her show-counter part because I missed her, but honestly, I do recommend to a friend.
Or at the very least, if you absolutely refuse to watch it, PLEASE go watch the last 1/2 of episode 6 with Zuko and the 41st because I CANNOT.

Imma take you on that offer with the ROs family baby reaction -sarah
ROs families react to RO and MC's baby
The Emeraudes (Alceste's family) would be so happy to see Alceste and MC's baby! Claudia and Regina would be happy to give advice to MC and Alceste as Alceste's siblings entertain the baby. Eirene would be very stressed over the baby, freaking out when it sneezes or rolls over. Orin is going to manhandle the baby, causing Eirene to lose her shit. Lyssa's really the only one I would personally trust out of the Emeraudes with a baby (minus Claudia and Regina)
The Cornalines (Larisilla's family) would be happy, if not a little surprised, to see Larisilla and MC's baby. They really didn't expect Larisilla to become a parent at like... all and, honestly, they're not sure how long she'll last before she's had enough since she doesn't like kids. Deimus and Eunomia had really come to understand that they probably won't have grandchildren, so Larisilla's baby is pretty surprising. That said, Eunomia is the best with the baby, fawning over it and being a good grandmother. Deimus is an asshole and will use this to tell Larisilla she could've become the next Head of the Council if she just put her mind to it. Lachesis is pleased to see/meet her nibling. They won't see much of her and vice versa since she's in the temple but she finds the kid cute.
The Topazes (Dionys' family) would be thrilled to meet Dionys and MC's baby! I'm talking like a whole ass party, thrilled. Erato is excited to have a grand-nibling and spends the whole time weaving an intricate tapestry MC and Dionys can hang in the baby's nursery. Galatea is very interested in the baby. She and the baby would grow up to be relatively close friends since their age difference isn't too far apart (7-10 years, I'd guess). Atlas and Carya are shocked to hear Dionys had a child, although they do miss meeting the baby since they're off doing research. I'll be honest, Atlas and Carya won't be super present in the baby's life, similar to how they weren't a huge presence in Dionys and Galatea's life as they were growing up.
There's only one Disthene alive besides Somnia and that's her mother Ianassa. Ianassa is so happy to meet her grandchild. Part of her honestly didn't think she'd live long enough to see it because of her weak constitution and poor health. Ianassa is probably one of the best grandparents for MC's baby since child-rearing comes naturally to her. She does express regret that Somnia's father, Mache, isn't able to meet the baby, but she's happy enough to focus on the baby. She enjoys knitting and will knit the baby blankets, hats, little booties, etc.
... So I can't really tell you how Enyo's family would react since it's pretty spoilery and actually changes based on what the choices you make... But, I will say, that most of the time, they're either indifferent to the baby or don't care at all.

"head"canons of my fav oc fam
i made this for myself and then realized i should post it here, so if nothing makes sense, that's why 👌
so mark and ilsah are rich, and they get government privileges (they're also. um. covert operatives that need to travel abroad for their jobs)
this also means lots of vacation time to COOL PLACES TOO WITH THEIR DAUGHTER
but work first:
so before mark gets his leg chopped off 💀 he's out in the field a lot more often
and from age 22-27, ilsah is his partner
the aga is like, pretty rich? i just like imagining money idk, it'll never be tangible for me sooo imagining it is! 😭🙏
(i'll make some info posts somewhere about all the atlas government things but the AGA is the biggest, i'm not gonna tell you what it stands for yet because it's very very very very very very silly)
that said, if they're taking a more public route (a typical plane) they're just That Fancy that the aga will give them (on international flights) business class privileges
so bros having a good time... idk 🤷‍♀️ living the dream
they sit in those little pod things, and ilsah always likes having it closed because girl likes her privacy (she also sits at the window all the time) but mark likes having it open to see what ilsahs watching on her tv 😭
*gasp* "is that crazy rich asians?"
"no?? it's literally-"
"let's watch crazy rich asians"
it's honestly *their* tv instead of *her* tv (mark has his own?? he just doesn't use it???)
a lot of their flight is taken up with calls and plans though, bros look over operation plans and work overtime to find cracks so that they won't have as many when the time comes (works better if they're on an aga private jet, with its own fancy wifi)
or at least, they say they're looking over the plans, in reality ilsah is helping mark FAIL at online poker
she's literally sabotaging him she's like "yea this"
and the next thing they know he's lost his life savings /j
"well why were you betting with your life savings on a game you don't even know how to play?"
"i like to live life on the edge"
"your 'edge' is stupidity"
at the beginning of their partnership, ilsah scolds mark for playing poker when they should be working,
but over time she's grown more comfortable because mark always seems to know what he's doing in the field (he's been doing this a lot longer than she has) and she *had* to trust him
or maybe she just gave up tryna stop him because bro was relentless
ilsah can't sleep on planes, there's something about it that's just so uncomfortable and vulnerable.
mark on the other hand? he likes being rocked to sleep by the tuberlance lol
....how do you spell turbulance
i give up, anyway
when marks not playing poker or actually looking over the mission plans or bribing ilsah into watching something, he's sleeping
he doesn't see the reason in staying up on a plane, cus his mindset is always to have energy when he gets off
but ilsah doesn't work like that lol
doesn't matter how long the flight is, 9, 12, 15, 19 hours, girl won't sleep
it's not necessarily because she doesn't want to? it's just because
1. theres always too much happening (she's a light sleeper)
2. she's uncomfortable (doesn't matter how rich, planes are still planes dude)
3. she's worried abt the upcoming mission
(mark can tell when this is happening
he claims that ilsah gets into a special mode of anxiety
the type of anxiety that manifests by drinking tons and tons and tons of coffee
and being rude
and mark knows how to spot this type of her anxiety in an instant)
(he typically lets her handle it on her own, he's worked with her long enough to know that she has to be the one to get herself out of these snits)
is snits a real word
like he's still there if she needs him, but her way of needing him in this anxiety is for him to stfu
mark doesn't understand plane food, he's just quirky about it
ilsah doesn't really either? but i mean she just doesn't eat it cus she thinks it's poisoned
real girl, if i were a spy? yea real
mark is just quirky about it, he just doesn't like it lmfaooo
but ilsah does always take anything that's packaged, like little biscuits or pretzels something.
she'll put them in her bag and then whenever they're remote and away from bases and safe spaces she'll just take out the package and... munch
she's done this like 15 times in the 5 years they've known each other and mark never loses his surprise
"you're eating a chocolate biscuit"
"you shouldn't be surprised atp"
"people were just shooting at us-"
"field snack"
and mark would just go ".....reasonable, slay"
but back to the actual plane time lol i strayed away
and then i lost my train of thought
so i guess ill pause here and family time will come later
i love this fam sm (AND YOU DIDNT EVEN MEET MILLIE 😭😭😭😭😭)
you will, one day
trust
so like, i *could* do an intro post on these guys, but i think exposing you to them in the most unfiltered unhinged and just.... niche... way possible is the best way to go <3

I need to do an in depth post on this but yes while blake was more than willing to work with ironwood and co and help atlas she did heavily lean towards helping robyn and was willing to trust her more because what she was pushing for lines up with blake's ideals and goals and such and it's not that she told her because she absolutely did NOT trust ironwood because I think she did, but to a degree

It over a year and i still cant believe the girls went for plan: lets move every citizen to Vacuo without any food, any water, any housing, instead of plan: talking to James? Like yo maybe lets not aim for space, lets aim for Argus or Vacuo! Lets try to take as many people as we can and then lets get the fuck out of here, ay? Or you know if they wanted to stand their ground do that and let Altas + all the people who evacuated already flee. That would have been actually an interesting volume. Them defending Mantle on their own and seeing Salem pass over them because she wants atlas and the girls trying to get there first or help it. Also would have loved if they discussed the difference of wanting to protect people vs wanting to protect the relic. Because in this situation you couldnt had both, like we saw Salem got the relic. But the show dont really touch on that.
Hey anon! Trust me I cannot believe the show decided to go with that either it is honestly kind of insane when you think about it. The girls really went, "I know we don't have a plan and Salem is coming and everyone is exhausted after dealing with all of the Grimm that came thanks to Jacques BUT we don't like your plan and we're going to literally sabotage it and commit mutiny over it and THEN we'll start crying uncontrollably when we realize how hard this is." And then went BRILLIANT. Like my gosh another friend and I actually discussed how cool this premise would be, letting Atlas flee and Ruby having to lead the remaining civilians to like Argus or something and playing a terrifying game of cat and mouse as Salem goes after Atlas and she sends Grimm and such after the civilians. It could have been a great volume filled with tension as Ruby is forced to put her leadership skills to the ultimate test and try to lead thousands of terrified and confused people to safety (or just protecting them in Mantle) and discovering how difficult it is and being forced to face the fact that nothing she does will please.....anyone. And no matter what people will be angry and blame her even though she is just trying to do what she thinks is best and realize some people just don't care but she pushes through and keeps going and proves herself as a leader. It could have actually made the mains the main heroes AND culled the cast some to make a more manageable cast to follow.
In regards to the whole RWBY vs James thing. I think saying protecting people vs protecting the relics is a little too simplistic of the bigger picture. What's really happening in RWBY is looking at keeping people alive short term while James is thinking about keeping people alive long term. In his mind saving all of Mantle will be pointless if Salem gets all the relics and ends the world. And currently after Atlas, Salem in essence has control of three of the relics because with the lamp she can easily get the third relic and with the three relics taking Vacuo's relic will be Childs play. James does not want to have the world find itself in a satiation with the ultimate bad guys having control of arguably the most powerful relic that she can use to destroy Vacuo. I know the show insists she can't with words but with what we've seen the staff do....that limitation realistically does not exist, and the relics have not been created with any desire to do what they can to limit themselves in usefulness with Salem or her people so that's not even really an argument. Ruby on the other hand (fueled in my headcannons by trauma from Beacon) can't stand the thought of losing anyone and focuses on short term keeping people alive. That is the crux of it, Ruby still has hope and believes that love can win out, while James has been broken down and hardened by the war against Salem and doesn't think it is possible to get the relics and all of Mantle and Atlas to safety. He feels like he has no choice but to well chose, and in his mind, ensuring the entire world survives is more important then the few. It's certainly dark and sounds awful but sometimes those difficult choices just....have to be made. But we could have had a volume of Ruby restoring faith and hope and finding a realistic way of saving both all of the civilians and the relics. But the show couldn't be bothered to come up with something so they went with "Make James evil" and hope no one notices how nonsensical it all becomes.
I want to believe and be rooting for the main characters, but with RWBY as is right now....I just can't. The show is to lazy to properly build all of this up and just rushes through it, logic be damned and it badly hurts the show in the long run and forces them into these ridiculous corners they have to try and find their way out of.

Top 5 (or 3) ATLA characters you'd trust with your private and sentitive information + characters you wouldn't trust?
I'm having so much fun with these!
ooooooooo okay!
five i WOULD trust
aang - idk i feel like he would keep important stuff a big secret. i know he tends to talk a lot, but i really feel like i could trust him. maybe that's a bad idea. but idc he has a trustworthy face and i feel like he's very trustworthy
toph - okay maybe this is s stretch, but toph can Literally tell when people are lying. now, i headcanon toph to be a child of parents who Should be divorced but aren't, giving her the tendency to try and Fix things (just... in her own way). so, she'll feel that someone is lying about being okay and rather than calling them out on it in front of others, she confronts them privately and tries to help. i just feel like toph knows a Lot more than everyone thinks and she doesn't tell anyone 1. because she doesn't care enough 2. because she wants to fix things and 3. because she knows it isn't really her place and she wasn't willing given this information. ahem yes so anyways: toph is good at secrets and i will die on that hill <3 toph would actually prolly be the number one person that i'd trust tbh
suki - look. part of this is complete bias and i will admit that. but suki. suki. i would trust her with anything and everything even if it turns out to be a bad idea <3 but ik she'd be a good person to talk to and share with if i needed someone and if i precedented with "please don't tell anyone", she wouldn't tell anyone unless she Literally had to, i.e. cole telling nya and lloyd that jay had seen and made wishes with nadakhan in s6
longshot - you know. i would trust him with my life tbh. he's just chilling and he's also like. idk he seems very trustworthy and i would honestly trust him. this isn't much of an explanation, but like i know deep down in my heart that i can trust him.
bato - this is kind of a gut feeling but like. i would trust bato with my secrets. he's earned that right. idk how, but he has so he can have them <3
five i would NOT trust
katara - ily sweetie but. she thinks and reacts to things emotionally and as she SHOULD but i feel like if i made her made or slightly irritated she would either purposefully spill, accidentally spill, or hold them against me. look, i love her, but she's a younger sibling oiuytfdfguiuyt
azula - i mean. i feel like this is kind of self-explanatory. ily babe but um. yeah. no. you're Also too much of a younger sibling and i feel like she'd hate me lol
zhao - i feel like this is also pretty self-explanatory. he'd use it to like. kill me or get me in trouble or like idk hatecrime me??? y eah. never telling that dude Anything
ty lee - i feel like she would use it against me. again, she has a Lot of siblings and also she's a pretty good manipulator... not like on the malicious level of azula, but she could and perhaps even Would use the information against me... ily babes, just not enough to give you my secrets lol
iroh - he knows why.

The funniest thing about june teasing katara and zuko about being a couple is that she just sees a pretty girl and an attractive guy, both looking almost the same age which immediately makes her go "you two must be a couple" and it just reminds me of zvtara shippers, you know what i mean? I'm convinced one of the reasons a lot of ppl ship them is bc of their looks. katara being the female protagonist and also a pretty, smart and powerful girl & zuko, despite not being the male protagonist, being the most attractive guy in the gaang. Boom, a "bomb ass ship". It is worth to recall that "people ship zutara bc they projected onto katara and had a crush on zuko". And if they say they don't ship them for that reason, then it's bc they read too much between the lines in every interaction they have. So, back to june, she didn't even care if they had chemistry or if they were friends or anything, she just straight up teased them about being a couple lmao. Because in all honesty zvtara can be an appealing ship in anyone's eyes but THAT'S IT, it doesn't go further than that. I can be testimony of that😅Before even watching the show i was like june, one day i saw a zk fanart and was like "wow aren't those zuko and katara from atla? They look so good, she's gorgeous and he's hot" i already knew kataang was endgame and that mai was zuko's love interest but seeing zuko and katara together was pleasing to my eyes. However once i watched the show for the first time (2 months ago i think) i realized there was really no romantic chemistry between them, nothing, literally nothing, i mean, i wasn't even waiting for the zvtara content in the show that made ppl ship them so much, i was actually very neutral about ships, i couldn't care less about them, but i still realized nothing was happenig between them and that it was obvious since book 1 ep 1 that kataang was endgame. Zuko and katara were two teenagers from opposite sides of a war that tried to kill each other multiple times and when zuko changed sides they developed a completely platonic relationship. As i said, people either ship them because it's an appealing and aesthetically pleasing ship (water/fire, enemies to lovers, opposites attract, the common red & blue ship) or they just love reading too much between the lines, OR BOTH, because they were so thirsty about it they ended up convincing themselves there was romantic tension between them, that they liked each other and that zvtara was scrapped when it was never planned in the first place. Not to mention the reasons why they claim zvtara should've been endgame are based only on symbolism and things they have in common that are just so ??? Random. e.g. (i saw these on a post on facebook and the comment section was hilarious, it was full of ppl being sarcastic about it & making fun of it) saying they should've been canon bc:
1. "They both lost their mothers at a young age" (?)
2. "katara was good but had rage in her heart and zuko was bad but had good in his heart so it was like yin and yang, and that was the main purpose/topic of the show" (?)
3. "they both had alter egos (painted lady and blue spirit)" (???) this one sounds like saying maiko was canon bc zuko worked in a tea shop and mai worked in a flower shop😂
4. "Zuko was the only one who supported katara in taking revenge on her mom's assassin" (?) if you ask me, that just proves zuko is not right for katara, he led her to do something she was gonna regret later (not trying to hate on zuko, i love him, and since i love him i acknowledge his flaws. I understand why he thought it was the best thing to do, he's an impulsive and resentful boy (he would've done the same if it was his mom) and he noticed how thirsty katara was for revenge, ofc he wanted to help her + he wanted her to accept him and thought it was the right thing to do in order to gain her trust, but it wasn't) unlike zuko, aang tried to make katara come to her senses and do the thing that was best for her: forgive and let go, and it was basically what she did at the end. She didn't do what zuko expected her to do. She did what aang expected her to do. She didn't forgive her mom's assassin, but she forgave zuko, and she didn't do THAT thing she (and aang) knew would regret later. Aang knew katara and what was the best thing for her to do.
5. and the most ridiculous one, "they both saved each other's lives in the final agni kai"(???????) and the funniest part is that it was followed by "WHAT MORE PROOFS DO YOU WANT???". Honestly wtf did ppl expect? Did they expect zuko to stand there and watch katara die? Did they expect katara to just stand there and watch zuko lay on the floor & die? And this has been said a million times and i am going to join and say it once again: zuko would've done that for ANYONE from the gaang, he would've done the same for toph, sokka, suki and aang. Because he learned to care about them. As for katara, she would've done that for anyone too wtf she healed aang once too and even brought him back to life. (I wouldn't be surprised if zk shippers used that as a parallel for romantic zvtara proof bc they're just like that💀)
There were more "reasons" but they're just so stupid and taken out of context like "they care for each other" & "katara was the one who encouraged him to talk to his uncle" like yeah that's what friends do. Basically all zvtara shippers do is REACH.
Also, i just can't see it happening. I like the enemies to lovers trope, maybe if the writers really intended to make it canon, i would have been down for the ship, it would've been interesting to see how it developed, but,, they didn't, and later i came to the realization that if it would've really happened, it would've been so... weird. Time to bring up the "colonized and colonizer ship" and how some ppl feel uncomfortable about it. Besides the fact that a relationship between zuko and katara wouldn't have worked (they're incompatible af, katara is a girl with a strong character and zuko is a guy with anger issues that takes everything personal, they'd be at each other's throats 99% of the time) it's just weird to think that katara would choose to marry a man from the fire nation, the nation that caused a big war that traumatized her, the nation that took her mother away from her. Imagine katara ruling along with zuko a nation she despised for years. Fire lady katara doesn't sit right with me, and i'm sure it doesn't sit right with a lot of ppl as well. I don't see katara doing that, and yes, i know she forgave zuko, but still, she would've never done that 🤦🏽‍♀️ i think it would've been so OOC tbh.
Another thing i laugh my ass off at is when they say "zuko should've chosen katara instead of mai" as if they were ever in a relationship for zuko to say "ok imma choose katara i wanna be with her". As if katara was EVER an option for him. They never showed interest in each other, what's not clicking?????? And zuko only had eyes for mai, not to mention that despite zuko and mai had a rough relationship, no girl would've dealed with zuko's bs better than mai. Can you imagine katara dealing with zuko blowing up over everything? Because i can't. Also people saying things like "zuko deserves someone who is always there for him and listens to him" (and ofc they're talking about katara) like, ok, you hate that katara is aang's "therapist" but you want her to be zuko's therapist. Logic? Where? And I do remember mai being a supportive gf and trying to cheer him up multiple times. Did they watch the same show as me?
Zvtarians try to play the victims about how they were "robbed" bc some voice actors shipped them and from what i've read people who worked for the show suggested to go for zk, but that's stupid, it doesn't count as "they planned it but scrapped it, we were robbed". The only word that counts are the creators' voice and they have stated they were always rooting for kataang, so no, you were not robbed.
People are just so in love with the idea of zuko and katara together they really convinced themselves it was likely to happen. Honestly zvtara it's a fine ship as fanon but ppl ruined it for me and what i hate the most is when they ship it and hate on aang and mai at the same time and make them look SO bad to invalidate kataang and maiko. Saying aang is abusive and mai is toxic is complete ✨bullshit✨ and lastly, it's ridiculous when they say the creators were cowards for not making it canon. They're cowards for not fulfilling your greatest childhood wish? Something they never planned? It is THEIR show. If you hate sm how things turned out then quit atla once and for all and go find another show that you know is gonna give you what you expect,,, it's tiring that they've been crying about it for 15 yrs , like, i joined the fandom recently but i can imagine how tired old atla fans must be of this.
OK so I have a lot of thoughts about this and firstly,,,anon I appreciate the dedication that it took for you to write  this, and I agree with many of your points. However, the attitude I have on this blog towards Avatar ships is far more neutral than what you’re saying.
Ultimately, romance is not and never was the focus of Avatar. Romantic development was always secondary or tertiary plot, and the entire show was far more focused on platonic relationship development. My attitude towards shippers on here - including Zutara shippers - is that people can ship what they want, as long as they’re respectful of each other and of the other characters that “interfere” with their ship. End of the day, shipping is irrelevant to the core of the show.
People shipping something because they find it aesthetically appealing is honestly,,,fine. Personally, I think it’s reductionist, but I don’t care if you do because everyone has the right to enjoy media however they want to.
That being said, we absolutely should call out racist or problematic tropes that we see, including ‘fire lady katara”. I also agree that it’s upsetting when people bash other characters in order to further their ship, as much of the bashing is also pretty racist and/or misogynistic. Calling that out, however, is separate from calling out every single person who happens to enjoy certain ships.
“She didn't do what zuko expected her to do. She did what aang expected her to do. She didn't forgive her mom's assassin, but she forgave zuko, and she didn't do THAT thing she (and aang) knew would regret later. Aang knew katara and what was the best thing for her to do.”
I understand where you’re coming from, but I honestly disagree with this take. Both Aang and Zuko were approaching the situations from their own life experiences, but Katara didn’t do what either of the boys wanted. She chose her own path, by both sparing Yon Rha’s life but also refusing to forgive him. The episode is about Katara and her personal trauma and its focus should not be on her relationships with either Zuko or Aang.
When I make posts such as this, it’s less about hating Z*tara and more about how this fandom focuses all its attention on romance and shipping, to the point where if you acknowledge a relationship’s importance it’s assumed you pair the two romantically. I don’t read Zuko and Katara’s relationship as romantic (for reasons that it would take too long to explain here), but their relationship development is extremely important, the two of them share tons of parallels and the final Agni Kai marks the culmination of both of their character arcs. Yes, Zuko would have taken the lightning for any of the characters, but it’s thematically important that it was Katara. None of this inherently means it’s romantic, but refusing to acknowledge the significance of the relationship between them is equally reductionist.
This isn’t an attack on you, anon, and you’re 100% allowed to have negative feelings about a ship. But at the end of the day, it’s not worth getting this worked up over. If I were you I’d focus more on creating/consuming content for a ship you like than bashing ships you don’t!

So, What Character You identify with?
Like I Will tell mine right Away but I Think The majority Is from media you don't know anything about. But Since I have Kokichi in The Icon Now I Guess I tell about him.
SO Is Someone really complicated, You either love him or hate There's no in between, His talent literally consist in being a Leader so yeah, he always seeks being in control Of The Situation but he doesn't acomplice The traits Of a serious leader, He's More Of mess with everyone and help from The Shadows, Nobody really trust him because He's TOO Chaotic but seems Like he really wants to help though His ways are really... questionable. Also Lies a lot, but because he want The Other to not miss him if he dies. I don't really know how to explain him, but Is Like “I see Myself in This and I don't Like it”
When it comes to Harry Potter, the characters that I identify with are Remus and Neville. I too, want nothing more to be liked. I too, am afraid of my own shadow. I too, have intense self-loathing. I like to think I have potential but altogether I’m not particularly skilled at much and tend to be a bit of an idiot - albeit, a sweet idiot. So Wrong Hordak from She-Ra comes to mind as well. As far as HPHM goes, I feel like I would identify with Chiara most of all. I’m a healer by nature and I’m pretty unassuming. But I also tend to be the “mom” friend, so characters like Toriel from Undertale, or Katara from ATLA, yeah, I feel them too.
Honestly, I do really dig the whole chaotic leader type. It reminds me of Jake Berenson in the late game days of Animorphs. The questionable morality, the crossing lines, the sense of instability...maybe the comparison is off but that’s what immediately jumps to my mind. (Which reminds me, I relate a lot to Tobias) Also you need to realize that the line about him lying so people won’t miss him if he dies? Broke my damn heart. Pushing people away to avoid the pain of loss once you’re closer is such a vicious circle. Friend, here is my obligatory reminded to you that you are not alone and that bonds are worth it!

Problematic Atlas Quotes: Volumes 1-3
Tumblr media
All of the places on Remnant put together have not produced as many jarring incongruities and mixed messages as Atlas. These are all quotes relating to Atlas that really stood out to me at the time and have stayed with me since.
Volume 1
Penny: I am combat ready! (Yeah, but are you ready for anything else? And who would send out a cute girl robot who was ONLY ready for combat?)
Weiss: The innocent never run, Yang! (Karmic law says that one will come back to bite your ass, Weiss.)
Penny: I don't have a lot of friends, but if I did, I would want them to talk to me about things. (We haven't seen this one come back around to Penny yet. Blake, yes. Penny, no.)
Volume 2
Ironwood: But ask yourself this: Do you honestly believe your children can win a war?
Ozpin: I hope they never have to. (Note that Ozpin believes they can. It's having to fight he considers a failure. Later revelations would make his view even more tragic.)
Ruby: But why not let us know you were okay?
Penny: I... was asked not to talk to you. Or Weiss. Or Blake. Or Yang. Anybody, really.
Ruby: Was your dad that upset?
Penny: No, it wasn't my father... (Ironwood speaks next. An early sign of Ironwood's controlling nature.)
Penny: I'm the world's first synthetic person capable of generating an Aura. (Tell me more.)
Penny: One day, it will be my job to save the world (The whole world? Seriously, tell me more.)
Penny: It's okay, Ruby. They're not bad people; I just don't want to get you in trouble. (And why would talking to you get Ruby in trouble? And why send her to a festival that encourages students to talk to each other if you won't let her talk?)
Penny: Just promise me you won't tell anyone else my secret. Okay?
Ruby: I promise.(If she HAD told Pyrrha, the whole debacle might not have happened. Will this come up again?)
Roman: As some of you may have heard, this right here... (Taps the giant mech) ...is Atlas's newest defense against all the scary things in the world. And thanks to my "employer", we've managed to snag a few before they, uh, "hit the shelves".  (Damn, Atlas, y'all got a lot worse security problems than Ruby.)
(The image of Penny dancing by herself at the ball surrounded by uniformed guards. Say what?)
Ironwood: Ruby, I feel it's appropriate to let you know that I think what you did last night is exactly what being a Huntress is all about. You recognized a threat. You took action. And you did the very best you could. (Ah well, that's nice. Doesn't entirely fit in with the rest of your character James, but it's nice.)
Ruby: Wait. You think this girl is connected to Torchwick and the White Fang?
Ozpin: It's possible. But we still lack the required evidence to link the two together.
Ruby: Actually, I... I think I remember her saying something about a hideout, or something, in the southeast. Just outside the Kingdom.
Ozpin: Interesting.
Glynda: I thought you said the intruder never—
Ozpin: Thank you for your cooperation, Ruby. Why don't you go and spend some time with your team? You have a big day ahead of you.
Ruby: Any time.
Ozpin: And Miss Rose, please try and be ... discreet about this matter.
Ruby: Yes sir. (This tells Ironwood several things. It tells him that Ruby will lie for Ozpin, that Ozpin will cover up Ruby's lie to protect her, and most importantly that Ruby and Ozpin TRUST EACH OTHER.)
Glynda: Why must your answer to everything involve a triumphant display of military bravado!? You treat every situation like it's a contest of measuring di—!
Ozpin: Glynda!
Glynda: Well, he does. (Tell me more, Glynda.)
Ozpin: You're a general, James. So tell me, when you prepare to go to war, which do you send in first? The flag bearers, or the scouts? (Why is a civilian Headmaster schooling a general with a lesson taught to greenhorn Lieutenants? And why does he have to?)
Ozpin:  We fought for countless reasons, one of which being the destruction of all forms of art and self-expression. (SOME kingdom has control issues.)
Glynda: You're a good person, James. You've always done what you think is best for the people, even against strong protest. It's admirable. But it's high time you stopped talking about trust and started showing it. (So Ironwood's trust issues are not new. Tell me more.)
Councilman 1: You've left us no choice! The Vytal Festival tournament cannot be broadcast, let alone held, if we are unable to ensure the safety of the citizens.
Councilman 1: Ahem... Therefore, we have reached out to the Atlas Council and together have decided that the best action is to appoint General Ironwood as head of security for the event.
Ironwood: Thank you, Councilman. Our Kingdom is happy to lend as many troops as it takes to ensure that the event runs smoothly and safely as possible.
Councilman 1: And we thank you, General.
Ozpin: Will that be all?
Councilman 1: For now. But after this festival comes to a close, we are going to have a serious discussion about your position at Beacon Academy. General Ironwood's reports over the last few weeks have left us somewhat... concerned. I am sure you understand.
Ironwood: This is the right move, Ozpin. I promise, I will keep our people safe, you have to trust me.(Damn dude, what did Glynda just say about trusting people? And why do you expect Ozpin to trust you when you clearly have tattled behind his back?)
Ironwood: You brought this on yourself. (Yeah, he did. By trusting you.)
Volume 3
I have already written a detailed post on the vast discrepancies between how Winter Schnee behaves and what she is trying to convey in her first scenes, titled "Snowbirds of a Feather". Suffice to say Ironwood isn't the only Atlesian sending mixed messages.
Ironwood: If you were one of my men, I would have you shot!
Qrow: If I was one of your men, I'd shoot myself.(So y'all have an acrimonious history as well. Okay.)
Goodwitch: While I wouldn't condone his behavior, retaliating like you did certainly didn't help the situation. ("Call yourself a grown-up? I've seen better behavior from first-year students! Why do I even have to say anything to you? Don't answer that.")
Qrow: You sent me to get intel on our enemy, and I'm telling you, our enemy is here.
Ironwood: We know.
Qrow: Oh! Oh, you know! Well, thank goodness I'm out there risking my life to keep you all informed!
Ironwood:Qrow-
Qrow: Communication's a two-way street, pal. You see this? That's the SEND button.
Winter: They had reason to assume you'd been compromised. (So, Ironwood, explain to me WHY, if you seriously think Qrow has been compromised, you haven't brought it up with HIS BOSS before now? Isn't that information kind of important?)
Qrow: Despite what the world thinks, we're not just teachers, or generals, or headmasters. The people in this room, the leaders of the other two academies, we're the ones that keep the world safe from the evils no one even knows about! It's why we meet behind closed doors, why we work in the shadows. So you tell me, James, when you brought your army to Vale, did you think you were being discreet, or did you just not give a damn!?
Ironwood: Discreet wasn't working. (Explain.)
I'm here because this is what was necessary. (Explain.)
Qrow: You're here because Ozpin wanted you here! (Is it just me, or does anyone else think this sounds like it was an unpopular decision?)
Ciel: Ruby Rose. 15. Hails from Patch. Leader of Team RWBY. Status: Questionable. (Daaaammmn son. We need to talk. You ordered a full background check on a teenage girl just because she talked to your android? And then you gave it to your android's handler? And on top of all that, a gifted honor student from a multigenerational Huntsmen family who leads Beacon's first-year star team, who Ozpin clearly trusts, only rates as "Questionable"? Who doesn't rate as "Questionable"? Oh that's right. Qrow is also "Questionable", and so is Ozpin. Tell me, do you rate yourself as "Questionable"?)
Ciel: Penny? I believe it is best if we move on to our next location.
Penny: Could we have just a minute to talk? (No seriously, is Penny now not allowed any free time?)
Ciel: It's been precisely one minute, ma'am.(Apparently not.)
Penny: Ruby, there's something I've been wanting to talk to you about. I want to stay at Beacon.
Ruby: Penny, they'll never let you do that.
Penny: I know, but I have a plan.(Tell me more.)
Yang: You're from Atlas. What could we expect?
Weiss: Well, seeing as their Kingdom, academy and armed forces are all merged as one, I think we can expect strict, militant fighters with advanced technology and carefully rehearsed strategies.  ... Or whatever they are.(So even other Atlesians think Atlesians send mixed messages.)
Ironwood: For the past few years, Atlas has been studying Aura from a more scientific standpoint; how it works, what's it made of, how it can be used. We've made... significant strides. And we believe we've found a way to capture it.
Qrow: Capture it and cram it into something else. (Dude, exactly WHERE did Penny's Aura come from?)
Ironwood: What I believe and hope this to be is nothing more than the result of stress and adrenaline. When you're out on the battlefield, your judgment can become clouded in an instant. Sometimes you see things that simply aren't there. Even after the fight is past... (That answers that question. You don't trust yourself either. What happened to you?)
Ironwood: Ozpin, the girl... I-I can explain! (You've got a full scale Grimm invasion going on and you're more terrified of OZPIN? What did you do to create Penny, James? How ELSE have you betrayed Oz?)
Ironwood: Qrow! This isn't my doing! (Why did you automatically assume Qrow is attacking you instead of looking behind you? Guilt?)
This post is long enough already, so I'll finish later. While I may be overreacting to some of these statements, that doesn't explain all of them. It's looked from the beginning like there was something fishy going on in Atlas, especially having to do with Ironwood.

Questions About Creating Your OCs
13. How far past the canon events that take place in their world have you extended their story, if at all?
not that far, honestly! I left it pretty vague as to what happens post-eg to have more wiggle room in terms of rp, but also because I'm honestly not too sure where I want to go with it. Plus, I haven't watched anything that's been released after eg, so... canonically, I don't have any info for the newer movies/shows because I only have a vague idea of what's been happening, ahah
but! I do see Carter post-eg just... finally being able to move on from a lot of things, and fully letting herself begin to heal. It's not gonna be an easy road for her and there's still going to be troubles, but she's definitely reached the point of understanding that she needs to open up more (at least to her therapist, if not other select people) for her to be able to begin to properly heal, since she is, inadvertently, denying herself that by staying quiet over certain past experiences and traumas
I also see her graduating a few years following the events of eg, and her work surrounding more of potential life on other planets than, say, growing crops on Mars or in a space station. That's going back to the original idea of her becoming an astrobiologist vs astrobotanist, but she still does have a fascination with how life could form and evolve on other planets similar to Earth, but also planets different from Earth. She'd be more low-key with it, either working on a university campus or, at most, at a NASA facility, but her name wouldn't be big outside of astrobotany circles because she's not interested in having even a small level of fame her father does
14. If you had to narrow it down to 2 things that you MUST keep in mind while working with your OC, what would those things be?
oh geez, ah... two things only... First thing, her fear of abandonment. That fear has caused quite a few issues for her, such as her dependency and codependency problems, and her inability to properly communicate with others in regards to anything dealing with herself. Specifically, with past events she wants to talk about, but also with regards to her feelings, when her headspace drops, and her being agreeing to things she... really doesn't want to agree to. And it's created this Atlas complex for her, because she believes she can't share any of her problems without hurting someone else, but she'll take on her loved one's problems without hesitation, even if it's crushing her. To her, if she can carry the weight of the world without revealing the pain she's going through, it's... enough for her loved ones to stay. Because, in her mind, it shows there's nothing wrong with her, which is the main drive behind her fear of abandonment - she thinks there is something wrong, something she can't see, and she wants to hide it
the second thing would be her heart. Despite her trust issues and everything she’s gone through, she’s still willing to see the best in other people (even if... she really shouldn’t (*cough*Quentin for all you Carterio fans*cough*), and still finds it in her to remain kind. Even in the ikau, where she struggles with pushing down her fear and anger, she’s never malicious or cruel to those around her - she pushes them away, but she’s careful to not actually be hurtful through words or actions, and still does her best to be kind, even though it comes across as awkward or even forced
15. What is something about your OC can make you laugh?
Carter can be a huge dork, and can and will cause problems for fun sdfgjhdf - although she can come across as more reserved, she can become the embodiment of the knife cat meme when she wants to lol, mainly around her friends
16. What is something about your OC can make you cry?
well... there are a few things tbh, ahah, but one of them is her guilt complex. Carter... tends to blame herself for a lot of things, even if it’s not her fault by any means, and it’s led to her believing her happiness comes at the expense of others. It’s caused her to have a certain distance from those around her at times because of it, and it’s a source of insecurity for her in any romantic relationship, because she starts fearing she’s going to end up making her partner miserable
