Was talking about this with the sibling but its kinda disturbing how so many folks (talking about Christians in particular rn but it can apply to everyone) are so desperate to be in a romantic relationship. Its not a bad thing to want but the desperation and all-encompassing desire is probably idolatry and is just really unhealthy regardless. Obsessing over being single or "alone", burning through potential partners left and right, lowering your standards just so you can have a partner, not being able to function outside a relationship? These are all things I see from the people around me and its kind of unsettling.
I know its difficult but maybe just consider shelving that desire for a bit and focusing on God and figuring urself out as an individual--what you like, what you want out of life, *independently of a spouse and children*-- investing in community, friends, family, church etc. You may find that the desire for romance was something else. Or if you do have it still, maybe the desperation goes away and ur able to approach the subject with a more level head.
And i know this is gonna be controversial to say to Christians lol but--consider convening with God and discerning whether marriage is actually for you. I know it seems like a death sentence, and the modern church doesnt help in this regard but its not. Paul says its better to be single and focus on God. Heck, our lord and savior Jesus Christ was celibate. And he lacked nothing in terms of intimacy and companionship. Idk, maybe just some food for thought
#idk as a celibate person it really makes ya think about the clown behavior you see#side b#side b ssa#Also this is directed at straight and ssa Christians btw#honestly i see straight Christians do this more since theres a weird sense of entitlement to believers that arent gay lmao
