people on tumblr dot com who have watched one (1) anime and like to shit on ALL japanese animation: anime is so homophobic!! i only know one anime that has gay characters that are not fetishised and that is yuri on ice!! i don’t know any anime that doesnt sexualise minors or women!! fuck japan the age of consent is 14!!

what i think: anime has depicted many lgbt characters and gay love stories, your problem is that in japan they like to leave romance unspoken, straight relationships as well when they are not the main focus of the plot (see: soul/maka in soul eater, heavily implied, but its a shounen anime so they will never become canon), so if u want canon couples u need to watch romance-driven anime, and there are some BL and yuri anime that are very beautifully rendered and not fetishised at all (doukyuusei, yagate kimi ni naru, asagao to kase san etc), as well as anime that are action-driven or even sci-fi (no. 6, samurai flamenco, sarazanmai, revolutionary girl utena, to name just a couple that i have watched) that deal with same-sex love. other kind of anime that do not dwell on romance still have gay characters or hints of gay love (homura stating she loves madoka using the “ai” form, the two girls in liz to aoi tori being in a clear unrequited love situation, pikari and teko stating they love each other at the end of amanchu s1, lets ignore s2 pls). plenty of anime do Not fetishise minors or women, if you only know anime memes or shitty anime thats not my problem. also are u saying american movies/animation do not sexualise women as well? pls. im not saying ALL anime is great but so isnt western animation/movie industry. furthermore, the age of consent in japan is NOT 14 jfc. a quick google research will tell you. shut Up lol
