Nate inspects the bond bite in the bathroom mirror the next morning, not quite scabbed over, still raw and open. He scratches at the dried blood, watching it flake off and get stuck under his fingernail.

"It looks great," he says, sucking just a hair too close to the wound, making a sharp sting of pain thump through Nate. Sidney laughs a little when he pulls away, "Your dream come true, huh?"
Nate wonders if Crosby can feel in the bond the way embarrassment flushes through him when he says that. He wishes he had kept his stupid hero-worship crush to himself all these years and that his mom didn't immediately take Crosby up to Nate's room at his house to show him all his posters on his wall, Crosby laughing and offering to sign them for him.
Nate's room at his parents' house, he corrects himself. He lives here now, at Crosby's. Sidney's. Maybe in a few years he'll think of it as his house too.
"Yeah," he says, willing his voice to stay steady.
His own bite is scarred into Crosby's skin too, not yet healing, blood and pus crusted around it from Crosby falling asleep as soon as his knot went down. Nate had waited until his breaths were even and snuck out of bed to inspect the bite, washing it clean with a cloth.
"I think I'm gonna take a shower," Nate says, twisting out of Crosby's hold in a way that he hopes doesn't make him seems desperate to get away. "I feel gross." He has Crosby's come on him, dried and itchy and flaking, and it's--it's really weird.
He ignores the way he feels hot thinking about it, about being marked by Crosby on his neck and between his legs.
It wasn't his first time last night, thank God, but when he was with Jo last year they had been on the same playing field--inexperienced, bumbling, both terrified out of their minds of Nate accidentally getting pregnant, Jo wearing two condoms and pulling out before he came just in case. Nate always came too, unlike last night, and went home feeling pretty pleased with himself.

Home sales in the US rose to a four-year high after rising 12.1% YoY, according to a new Redfin report. As I stated, we are entered a buyer’s market in May of 2024 in line with the ECM. Gone are the days of bidding wars and skipped inspections. Home inventory has picked up significantly but we are seeing those homes sitting on the market far longer as people simply cannot afford to buy.
Nearly 55% of listed homes have been on the market for over 60 days, a 49.9% increase from last year. The average home takes 43 days to go under contract now, marking the slowest pace since the pre-pandemic era of 2019.
Home prices across the nation as of November 2024 stood at $429,971, which represented a 5.4% YoY increase. The average 30-year mortgage stands at 6.95%, down 4 bps YoY but not enough to attract would-be buyers. The 15-year stands at 6.28%, down 7 bps YoY.
Texas and Florida have the highest rates of homes sitting on the market. The primary reason we are seeing this is a drastic increase in as-is homes in the wake of two hurricanes. Around 57% of homes in Tampa have been sitting on the market for over 60 days. All you need to do is take a look at Zillow or Trulia to see why. People are offloading hurricane-damaged properties that need significant work. It is extremely common to see homes listed with removed drywall or flooring from flood damage. Miami has seen the highest percentage of inventory increases across all metro areas at 63.8%, and although unaffected from the storms, the city has seen a drastic surge in HOA and insurance prices.
