To pass time, she had taken one of the plank lying on the floor of an abandoned bedroom and put it across the bathtub width. The woman had put her phone on it to watch WeTube and see what she could do to repair the dorm. She knew from the game that it would be repaired after the Octavinelle mishap, but maybe it was her doing ? She laughed at this thought. She shouldn’t give herself too much credit. Plus Victoria knew she would be KO after her visit to the doctor. He would most certainly give her stronger anti-psychotics. She would finally sleep ! Which was a big improvement.

She didn’t want to alarm Yuu and Grim but she would need at least a week of rest, without any work to do. A week of SLEEP. It was her biggest fantasy for the moment.

"My father Juan José María González de Chaves Dreyer, better known as Hansi by his friends, along with my mother Carolina, are going through the worst moments of their lives due to an unexpected and critical health situation that developed on the other side of the world from their home in Tenerife, Canary Islands.

I am their daughter María Victoria, currently residing in the city of Monterrey, Mexico, where after a year of not seeing them, my parents decided to come and visit me. They had their trip planned from March 14th to April 25th.

On March 31st, while already in Monterrey, my father began to feel unwell, with a lot of fatigue, cough, and difficulty breathing. Thinking this could be a flu or cold, we went to a medical consultation at a hospital where several medications were prescribed. After several days, on April 10th, my father's condition worsened, and he returned to a medical consultation, this time at an external clinic, where he lost all feeling in his right leg for several minutes.

We quickly went to the emergency room of a private hospital, where numerous tests were conducted, and he had to be admitted. They found several clots in his right leg at the groin level, and it was determined that his lungs were collapsed. After two days of being admitted, his symptoms worsened, and he had to be transferred to the ICU. My father's right leg began to lose circulation rapidly, and his foot started to turn black, with a risk of requiring amputation from the hip. His lungs worsened, and after several studies, it was diagnosed that he had diffuse alveolar hemorrhage (blood in the lungs).

He underwent a surgical thrombectomy in his leg to remove the clots; however, it is a temporary procedure that had to be performed due to his critical health condition. My father will require a new operation on his leg called angioplasty and stent placement, which is very expensive and exceeds €15,000, but this is necessary to save his leg.

However, the most serious issue with my father's health is his lungs. He was given numerous medications, in addition to the use of non-invasive oxygen masks, to improve his lung condition. After several days, there was a slight improvement, but after 15 days in the ICU, his lungs stopped improving and remain in critical condition.

Due to the number of days in the ICU, the stress on the body from so much medication, and the critical health condition, the doctors decided on April 25th to intubate and sedate my father so that his recovery would not be affected by his mental health, which, as you can understand after so many days, began to overwhelm and distress him, worsening the situation.

After 20 days in the private hospital, we had to pay a bill totaling €90,000 (1,620,000 Mexican pesos), having to borrow money and incur debt due to the serious situation. My parents had taken out travel insurance; however, the insurance company refuses to cover the policy, arguing that my father's illness was already present in Spain (nobody goes on a trip while sick). Since we no longer have any more financial resources, we had to transfer my father to a public hospital, where the care is not the same, and everything is much slower. We still have to pay for medications and the treatments that are still needed for my father to recover.

I know we all have problems to deal with in our daily lives, but what we are experiencing is something we never thought could happen, and we ask for solidarity and empathy from you.

And what's inside is shocking.

Sylvia Robinson is essentially running away from everying she's ever known. After her high school relationship ended last year, Sylvie begins working for the Barnett's, Adam and Victoria. Adam is a successful author, having written three bestselling books and Victoria, his wife, was a successful nurse practitioner before she had a terrible accident that has rendered her unable to care for herself.

Adam hires Sylvie to essentially be a friend to Victoria. He has spent a lot of time working lately, and while Vicky has a nurse to help during the day, he wants someone to fill in for him while he works so his wife isn't lonely. Offering Sylvie this opportunity of a lifetime, she leaves her Brooklyn studio apartment for a bedroom in the home of the Barnett's, along with private health insurance and $1,500/week paycheck.

Things start off well enough. Sylvia moves into their large estate and begins to learn what it means to take care of someone who can't care for themselves. Essentially, shortly after moving into the house, Victoria had found out she was pregnant but accidentally fell down the stairs, leaving her with severe brain damage. While she can move her left arm fairly well, she has difficulty speaking, whereas her words get jumbled, though she can sometimes say words that the others can understand.

Shortly after Sylvie arrives, Vicky gives her a diary that she had written herself, written over the course of the last two years. It's contents are shocking to Sylvia: Adam, the man who has hired her, and she has deemed to be a harmless man is actually someone who is a violent man. Victoria details how their courtship was nothing short of amazing, but after they had gotten married things quickly took a turn, Adam becoming jealous of everything and everyone, although he was often found to be flirting with other women directly in front of her.

Despite these revelations, Sylvie begins sleeping with Adam nearly every night, but after two of the other workers find her coming out of his bedroom, and realizing that Victoria knows what is going on between the two of them, they put a stop to it. However, Victoria is adamant that Sylvie get a gun from inside of Adam's closet, and bring it to her. Unable to do so until a night when a blizzard knocks out the power, and Adam is upstairs in the attic working, Sylvie brings the gun into Victoria's room and hides it inisde a trunk with a combination on it.

When discussing things with Maggie, the housekeeper of the estate, when they receive phone service back after the storm, Maggie says that it was actually Victoria who was crazy and violent, that she had been fired from the hospital in the city. Later, Adam confirms that Victoria likely had undiagnosed paranoid schizophrenia, which is what the medications are that he's been putting into her feeding tube that she tries to fight off every night. Unbeknownst to Adam, however, and when Sylvie was under the impression that Adam was the bad guy in this scenario, she stopped giving Victoria her medications.

When the two of them attempt to leave the bedroom in order to get the gun that Sylvie confesses to having taken and put inside of Vicky's room, they come face to face with her. She had somehow menuevered herself into the hallway to confront them. She once again accuses Adam of sleeping with their previous chef, Irina, who has since gone missing, and of course she knows of Sylvie's relations with her husband. She points the gun at Adam, and shoots, but misses. The impact of the gunshot throws Victoria off, and Sylvie takes that opportunity to attack her to keep her from killing them.

After a tumble down the stairs, it is clear that Victoria is dead, having broken her neck in the fall. Sylvie survives, and after Adam decides that the two of them will cover up what actually happened, the police and ambulance come to take Victoria away. Sylvie denies care in the hospital, but learns that the paramedic she is speaking to knew Mack, a paramedic in the city that had known Vicky, and even attempted to save her, but about a year ago had gone missing.

It all makes sense to Sylvie at this point. It was never Victoria, and she was simply a scapegoat in Adam's plan to get rid of Victoria at last. Adam had told her that she had a final outbreak at the end of her first trimester, and that he had pushed her down the stairs in an attempt to save his life, of course not intending for what happened to have happened.

Sylvie realizes that the shed in the yard that Adam has said was used for storing gardening tools, Sylvie notices an underlying smell of rot underneath a trap door, but before she can investigate further, she is confronted by Adam but before he can harm or kill her, Sylvie's ex-boyfriend Freddy appears, and has rendered him unconcious.

Six months later, Sylvie and Freddy are back together. Their relationship ended after the miscarriage of their child that was brought on at the hands of her own father, but they have found each other again in a different time of crisis. The two of them are going back to school in order to get a better idea of what they want to do with their time.

Sylvie leaves Freddy at home to go and meet Maggie, where she learns the true revelation: Maggie, Eva, Vicky's nurse, and Irina were all sleeping with Adam, and that Maggie was involved in Mack's death and disappearance. She lied when she told Sylvie that it was Vicky who was the crazy one when it was really Adam. Sylvie plans to go to the police with this information, but because of her own involvement in Victoria's death, she decides against it.

However, just as she is about to leave Maggie, she notices that Maggie has begun choking on a piece of food, and unlike at the beginning of the book when she saves the life of a woman choking (despite her teling everyone that Sylvie had attacked her instead of helping her), Sylvie leaves Maggie to choke.

The story is very reminiscent of Verity, but I think this book came out first. Regardless, I enjoyed this book a helluvalot! So twisty and turny, and I don't quite understand what really happened, but I enjoyed the story thoroughly.
