Hollywood & Vine
É um dos restaurantes mais queridinhos…

the app: history
The app has an interesting history. TikTok was not the first of its kind. It is frequently compared to a former short video sharing app called Vine (2013-2017).[1] The Vine app had a similar premise to TikTok, consisting of a feed with short, user-generated videos. TikTok developed through a merger with another short video sharing app, Music.ly. Music.ly was founded in Shanghai in 2014. It's main purpose was DIY music videos; it made lip synching to popular songs easy.[2] Music.ly was moderately successful with around 100 million active monthly users in the USA and Europe by 2017.[3] In the summer of that year, Music.ly was bought for around 1 billion US dollars by ByteDance, a private tech company out of Beijing.[4] ByteDance merged Music.ly with their similar app, TikTok. TikTok found its success in Asia with 500 million active monthly users in 2017.[5] The apps were similar in function and purpose. Their main differences were between the countries and user demographics reached.
TikTok came to international success at a slower and more difficult rate than it did in Asia. In many countries, the app was viewed as “cringey” due to its association with Music.ly. Music.ly had a reputation for being a place for young teens to “vogue.”[6] The app was seen as almost exclusive to conceited youth. It was Music.ly’s poor reputation that made ByteDance have the app take the name “TikTok.” In an interview with the Reuters Group, a financial and media based news company out of the UK, Tik Tok representatives explain the rationale behind this key decision.
“‘TikTok’ better reflects the breadth of content created on our platform that extends beyond music to comedy, performance art and more.” - TikTok Representative [7]
The merger diversified the platform, bringing different users together. It made the app more general and therefore, appealed to a broader audience. Though the new name helped, it was not enough. TikTok began to pay popular content creators from other social media platforms (mainly Youtube) to endorse the app.[8] David Dobrick, a vlogger with 17 million Youtube subscribers, began posting to TikTok in 2019 and the app began to increase in popularity.[9] Since then, TikTok videos have gone far beyond lip synching and dancing. There are educational videos, how to’s and DIYS, recipes, art, fashion, storytimes, advice, fitness- the app truly has a community for everybody. As of November 2020, TikTok has approximately 800 million monthly active users.[10] We can assume that TikTok’s success with short, sweet, mobile friendly videos has prompted other popular social media platforms (Specifically Instagram and Youtube) to implement TikTok style video reels into their apps.

Mall #3
Tumblr media
Mall #3 Vault Comics 2019 Written by Michael Moreci & Gary Dauberman Illustrated by Zak Harton Coloured by Addison Duke Lettered by Jim Campbell     Warfare spreads through the mall as insidious secrets are unearthed. Below, Ronin and Andre meet a new clan—who pits them against a fabled beast in a game of life and death!     This book is completely tits up and I think I like it that way! I mean sure we all know there are turf wars happening here, it's like the clicks in school only amped up to the Nth degree. It is a powder keg waiting for someone to light the fuse and apparently that time is coming a lo sooner than anyone in the Mall is prepared for or expecting. Okay maybe a few are coming to that realisation I mean we've got Ronin and Andre aware of it, though he's too concerned with clearing his name, and it seems as if Franco has come to the realisation himself. His segment was much as an opening than the actual opening itself if I am going to be honest. I mean watching that video and realising what's being said and how that applies to what is happening around him seems to have ignited something inside him and I as he has that feeling it just might be too late to do anything about it.     While I have no true idea how long these folks have been living in and fighting for their place in the Mall, I do wonder what the outside world is like now? What kind of apocalyptic event happened and has it been long enough so that they could survive out there? These questions and more make the story that we read as engaging and interesting as what we see within it's pages. The boys are writing a story that takes the reader off-script repeatedly throughout it's pages and that it does so makes them quite a team to be reckoned with. For one such as I it also means that they have some impressive skill and talent at their disposal as well.     The way that this is being told is really well done. The story & plot development that we see as the release of information and how the book is structured is extremely well done. The sequence of events as we see them come and go do much in the way of furthering the intrigue of this world. The character development is interesting and I like seeing how some are being woke and others are simply relying on the past to keep things status quo. Ignorance they say is bliss and yet the clans are on the verge of an all out war so how can thinking this is normal or right continue? With the pacing we see here and the twists & turns revealed to us create and electrifying ebb & flow to the story. This will draw you in and chew you up and spit you out if your not careful and it's “That town will make you crazy--Just give it a little time-- You'll be walking 'round in circles--Down at Hollywood and Vine--You'll be waitin' on a phone call--At the wrong end of a broom--Yes, that town'll make you crazy--Crazy as a loon!”     As far as the interiors here are concerned I would like to know when it started to be standard that backgrounds be ignored? Oh an actions scene we don't need backgrounds, oh they're talking we don't need backgrounds, it's all just blah. When we see them being utilised they work and work well so I don't get it. The linework we see is nicely done and the faces, facial expressions and body language really do effectively further the characterisation. The utilisation of the page layouts and how we see the angles and perspective in the panels shows off a nice eye for storytelling. The colour work is interesting to see. Thought I do think that the brown and red worn by Ronin and her people are so close in hue that it's hard to tell what is what. The water in the tube or the colour in backgrounds are the only things not solid and I'd like to see more shading utilising the base colour and the hues and tones within.      The story really is out there and that it has a very real feel to it of wanting what others have and it is pretty universal in how we see that. There is a creativeness to the story that almost has this Planet of the Apes vibe to it, sans the Apes of course. I am crazy about this and there's no real discernable reason why and that's okay sometimes you just enjoy what you enjoy because of how it makes you feel.

Listen: Bryce Vine - Drew Barrymoore
Here we have a nice picture of Drew Barrymore, in case you didn't know who she was. The PR pic was only like 300px wide, so we're not using that.
So, this is the second song featured on this blog this year with the title 'Drew Barrymore'. The first we featured was from the now v famous SZA. Now we have this track by newcomer Bryce Vine, equally excited to showcase this track alongside the former as it really is a surefire radio hit.
Bryce says of the track - "Drew Barrymore has become iconic to my generation. In a way, she's like Hollywood royalty. There's something special about her that is hard to put in to words. The girl i'm talking about in the song has that same charm. It's an unexplainable admiration for a special person - whoever that may be in your own life."
