(a Pokemon IRL blog, run by someone physically disabled who can reclaim the term cripple. mun main blog is @theangstking !
Pelipper Mail - on
magic anons - off
in character romantic interactions okay if both mun and character are adults. character played is panoriented aroacespec!)
edit - an important note!
I commonly experience brainfog and similar cognitive issues due to pain and the medications I take for it. I also have severe trauma and anxiety, and autism. if I seem a little less articulate, this could be why! please be patient with me!
hello! I use the name Holly online, as I don't feel comfortable with my name and face being on the internet at the moment.
I use they/them and ir/irm pronouns. (usage guide: ir wants that. give irm that. irt favorite color is green. ir are looking at irmself.)
I'm a retired trainer living in the Kalos region. I previously took on multiple gyms before an injury left me and my main partner severely disabled. I am wheelchair bound due to this injury.
I previously considered myself a grass type specialist and expert, and have done a lot of research on grass type Pokemon. I love talking about them!
I have rehomed many of my Pokemon! while sad to see them go, they were mostly battle Pokemon, and it felt unfair to keep them when I couldn't provide for their needs. I'd still love to talk about any of them however.
I've included a makeshift trainer card with the Pokemon I currently have below!
more info on my Pokemon below the cut
Rosa is my longest term partner - I found him as a young child as a Budew. he stuck around until I was old enough to become a trainer, and was essentially my starter Pokemon! this was my partner who was injured at the same time as me.
Mix is a service Pokemon I received after retiring due to my injuries. he is fully trained and usually wears a vest when we're out and about. he primarily helps me with mobility, moving my wheelchair for me when I need, though he's also trained to help with my anxiety and trauma. he also helps with my and Rosa's extra stretches and daily care.
Ghost was a gift from a friend I've had for a very long time. he moved to Alola a bit after we both became trainers, and we stayed in touch. a bit after I retired, his Ditto and Incineroar ended up with an egg that he sent to me. neither of us expected him to hatch shiny!
Goldie was also a gift, though one I received much earlier in my life, during my journey. I initially planned to raise him for battle, but he never enjoyed it as much as the others. he's much more of a pet than the Pokemon I had to rehome.
Stripe is one of the only other Pokemon from my battling days that I've kept. while she loves to battle, she doesn't feel a need for it to the same degree that some of my other Pokemon did. she considers herself the "guardian" of my house now, as she's the only one who actually can properly battle, so she takes it upon herself to keep wild or dangerous Pokemon away. she supervises Goldie and Ghost for me when they play outside in the backyard.
I have hope to adopt another pet Pokemon, hopefully another grass type. I miss raising grass types! I recently rehomed an Galarian Zigzagoon I had adopted before my injury.
feel free to ask me about my experiences with being a wheelchair user, service Pokemon, and the Pokemon I've rehomed or adopted! I love talking about these things!

hello! you sound like a wonderful option to take her in - and I'd be happy to send her over! if you could provide me with your trainer ID and a Pokemon Center address to send her to, I'll transfer her to you in her PokeBall!
hello! you may have seen a previous post of mine about a Pokemon I've temporarily taken in, Doozy. she's a Fiore regional variant Skitty, a water/normal type. my friend found her, seemingly abandoned, in Alola, and transferred her to my care due to not having the time to take care of her. however, I cannot be a long term trainer for her.
I'm looking for someone who's willing to adopt her!
she seems to have potential to battle, though it also seems like she'd be very happy to continue to just be a housepet. she's an utter sweetheart, loves cuddling and pets, and seems to be good with larger and smaller Pokemon alike. she's interacted with my Litten, Shinx, Pachirisu, Gardevoir, and Roserade with absolutely no issues whatsoever.
she doesn't require being in water constantly, but does enjoy playing in water. she's enjoyed sprinklers and a kiddy pool. she does drink a lot of water, that seems to be one of the few things that make her care a little fussy - these specific Skitty need a lot of water in their systems!
please take into consideration adopting her, she deserves a proper trainer to take her as their Pokemon.
the photo under the cut is the photo I shared of her in my previous post about her!
((OOC info as well))
((Doozy would essentially count as an "adoptable". you would decide details on her beyond what's been stated already - nature, moveset, stuff like that. we are willing to draw her as a Delcatty as well if your character would evolve her. to "adopt" her, all you have to do is reblog this post or send an ask or submission with information on your Pokemon irl character, why they'd be a good trainer for her! if you receive her, all we ask for is credit for the art, beyond that she'd be yours to do as you please!))

oh trust me, I have experience with "menaces"! most grass types tend to be very calm and sweet, but there's always outliers in the bunch - my Gourgeist was a little shit. (loved her to death but my goodness she could not stay out of trouble!!) though! that could be a ghost type thing haha
Hey! Nice to meet you!! What's your favorite grass type to raise? Or your favorite grass mega evolution? :)
Ik personally i have a soft spot for Bulbasaur but thats cuz i raise the new starters for Professor Sycamore.
( @megatrainer-jules )
hello hello!! :D nice to see another person living in Kalos!!
hmmm. while the easiest of the grass types to raise that I have, was Rosa (raising him up from a Budew was remarkably easy for me), I'll admit that he wasn't my favorite to raise! no, I think my favorite was actually my Victreebell! surprisingly, one of the more difficult grass types to raise and train can be Bellsprout, and that challenge was so much fun for me.
my favorite grass mega however...I haven't actually trained a Pokemon capable of mega evolution! I have to admit I absolutely love the look of mega Sceptile however. though it's hard to pick between Sceptile and Venusaur, I'll have to say Sceptile! (I'm very fond of grass/poison as a type combo. :>)

:0 oh my goodness!! heh, my home could possibly be really good for him! Mix and Rosa are very gentle and soothing, and the three I mentioned in the main post are also energetic but very good at gentle play!
certain Pokemon are so fascinating to me. the idea of being able to raise one of the grass types often given as starters is a dream of mine! I'm just worried I wouldn't be able to provide them enough stimulation - starters often have a desire to battle that I'm concerned I wouldn't be able to fulfill anymore. I feel lucky that Ghost is a lil housecat and his energy is easily managed by playing with Stripe and Goldie. and then there are Pokemon that just aren't commonly found in Kalos, like Applin! I've never seen one in person but they're so adorable...

oh of course! reclaiming things like this doesn't work for everyone. I suppose it's possibly also a little different for me, becoming disabled later in life. for a time I dealt with a lot of internalized ableism about it, and part of my attempting to fight that was to claim it for myself! if something is empowering to me, I can't even use it against myself anymore! to me it's also similar to the term "queer", in that, I'd never call someone else it if they don't want to be - but it's still mine.
Feel free to answer this when the brain fog has lifted at least somewhat. I'm curious and asking this in good faith-- why do you personally reclaim the word cripple? What does it mean to you?
to me, the word "cripple" feels more like a descriptor. similar to "fat" - it can be used with harmful intent, but really it's just a word that's used to describe something.
I am crippled. due to my disabilities, I physically cannot do a lot of things that others can. I can't walk for extended periods, or sometimes at all - especially definitely not on my own. for one of my legs, the range of motion is so limited that walking is extremely painful.
I don't view that as an insult - to me, it's just a fact.
and it can be somewhat comforting to me! if someone tries to insult me with that word, it doesn't have the same effect. they can't hurt me with something I already use as a personal label!

sadly the library here isn't accessible to me, even with Mix's help. :( and the process to report accessibility issues in this town sucks. 😞
sometimes I wish I didn't live alone, or had more friends close to me
I love my Pokemon, and they make it a lot easier, they're wonderful companionship, but I miss human contact sometimes. right now the most I get is like...cashiers, doctors, and the staff at the Pokemon center when I bring my Pokemon in for their regular checkups.
having a roommate would make things easier and would give me some human contact I desperately need.

you have a very good point.
this is a question of choosing between a miracle, or choosing something that happens...every day.
I can turn an ableist person to our side by talking to them.
as you said, nothing short of a miracle would change my circumstances.
Would you rather magically become an Abled Person, or turn a single ableist into an ally for the cause?
oh goodness you see- I know most people who are disabled wouldn't want that to suddenly change, but...with my circumstances, you essentially have just asked me, "do you want a severe, painful, life-long scarred injury to be able to properly heal?"
only one abled person vs the world that's pinned against us...how much would it help, you know? maybe if I could choose the person, and make sure they could actually do things for us.
but- I guess I'd go the selfish route, honestly. life...would be easier.
