Disruption Of My Fascination|Chapter 1
Sam Drake X reader
Warnings: None in this chapter
Words: 2143
A/N: This is my first time writing a Sam Drake fic at all, but not my first time writing. I would love to have feedback on this if people actually want me to upload more of this. I wrote this chapter a couple of weeks back but it took me this long to get up the courage to post it. I hope you all enjoy.
You shiver while looking out over the Scottish wilderness. It was freezing out but you can't deny the view. You have been out here for what feels like hours and not an even a clue as to finding any ruins.Turning away from the cliff's edge you hear gunshots off in the distance. You knew that you were not the only person looking for this treasure but you have been lucky enough not to have any major run-ins with any other person. You duck into the brush along the cliff to look out over the field beside where you were standing since the shots sounded fairly close. You see a slew of mercenary looking people bolting up a hill guns at the ready. They aren't coming for you. Thank God. Jumping down once the coast is clear you press on down the slope. Ducking in and out avoiding anyone and everything. You would always rather avoid a fight. Much cleaner that way. Although, it didn't seem that this one would be going that way. Finally, your eyes catch something just a little ways off in the distance. A flag, the red stood out against the white snow. Why would they make it so obvious if these people were supposed to be hiding? Maybe you missed something. You make your way to what you hope is the end of the hunt for you. As you enter silently over the walls of this massive ruin you realise that you are the first one here. Standing up in the middle of the room you take a sigh of relief. Looking around the massive room the dome covered in a mural you see depictions of Jesus and the Devil and many others from the Christian faith. Your admiration was cut short though.
“Hands up!” You hear the voice from behind you. The voice is male, gruff, out of breath. You slowly comply with the request. Hands up palms out. So many thoughts raced through your mind. Was this it? Was this seriously how you die? The man comes around to face you gun drawn aimed right at your head. “I would suggest that you leave.” He says motioning for you to go back from where you came. You look up from your feet slightly and nod your head.
“You’re right...I should.” You say in a soft scared voice noticing that his body was less tense.Suddenly you grab the gun and knock the man to the ground. You stand your ground the tables now turned. “But not without that treasure.” you add smirking at him. The man was beaten up pretty badly. Looked a good bit older than you and sported a denim jacket. Looks like the both of you didn't dress the warmest for Scotland this time of year. Both the eyes of you and the man shot to the direction of bangs on the front door.
“Your friends I presume.” He says as you start to become tenser.
“Nope.” You reply throwing his gun back to him. “You want to help a poor girl out?”Pulling your gun out of your thigh holster and grabbing his forearm helping him up. Both of you bolt to cover before the bullet storm begins. And just in time too. The door was busted down the second you ducked behind the pillars. Not a lot of good cover in this area. Both of you take down the group of mercs as quickly as possible. No major injuries on your part. “See that wasn't so bad.” You said as the both of you start to walk out into the middle of the room again. Suddenly one of the mercenaries jumped onto your back. You get a few good hits to his face before the man pulls him off of you knocking him out. You catch your breath from the jarring experience.
“You owe me now.” He sticks out his hand for you to shake it. “Sam Drake.” You hesitate before accepting not knowing if you can actually trust this man that you just met. Who put a gun to your head. To be fair you held him at gunpoint as well. You finally grip his hand to accept.
“(Y/F/N Y/L/N).”You shake hands firmly before letting go and taking in the immaculate architecture of this building.
“So what brings you to the Knights of Templar?” He asks putting his hands on his hips and looking up scanning the area again before looking down at you. You look over at him when he asks you this question.
“I should be asking you the same thing.” You respond as snarky as possible. You didn't trust him so why should you tell him anything. He raises an eyebrow at you before speaking again.
“Well, I'm just doing this for fun. Now, what about you?” He says walking little ways away from you before turning around on his heels to look at you again. “Y’know Y/N, if we are going to partner up I need to know more about you first.” He added seeing how you hesitate to speak again. Walking up close to you his arms crossed over his chest and leaning down a little.
“I just want to find this treasure.”  You give a sigh knowing this guy wasn't going to just give up and if you wanted help you would have to get him to trust you. “But you know having fun while doing it. So what 50/50 cut on whatever we find?” You go on avoiding giving too much detail to Sam.
“Yup. Exactly what I was thinking. Unless we have a hitch in the plan.” He responds “So let's get going.” You follow him down a set of stairs in a corridor leading away from the main area. Surprisingly the building was still in fairly good shape. Most of the walls had cracks in them but the building was still relatively stable and most decor parts were intact. Obviously, not many adventures or vandals have been here maybe even no one else before you and Sam.
“What do you know about this stuff?” You ask as you keep close behind Sam. He walked the area like he was confident about the layout of the building.
“Not much really. Just going by instinct. What about you?” He turned his head slightly to look back at you when he asked the question. The truth was you didn't know too much either. There was not a lot of reliable information on the Knights Templar and this was the closest you have ever been to even feeling close to this treasure.
“Going by instinct can get you killed in this line of work, you know that right?” You said catching up with him and looking up with a smirk. “Honestly we probably know about the same amount. There is not that much on this kind of thing. They were a pretty secret society after they fled.” You continue before coming to a door. It was huge wooden and painted in the brightest crimson you would ever see. “Well this looks promising.” you push and pull on the door handle before shoving it a little. “Come on!” You groan under your breath.
“Here, let me help you!” Sam said as he gets in the same position as you. “On 3.” You both count and shove at the door. On the third try, the door finally opened making you and Sam stumble into the room. As you survey the area you see swords, vases, paintings, and tons of books. “Must be some sort of library room maybe.” Sam says as he walks over to one of the paintings. It was a mosaic of the midwives bathing the newborn Christ. “Yeesh, these people were a bit overdramatic about their religion.” Sam comments while pointing at the piece of artwork.
“Yeah. Well, their whole job was to protect the Christians specifically Catholicism.” You say walking over beside of Sam and looking at the same piece of artwork. “Anyways, we could maybe find some information about where some of the stuff is.” You say before going on to roam around the walls of books looking for anything that may have been a journal of records. Pulling out some of the books most of the words in them made no sense to you. A foreign language looks like latin. One of the books really caught your attention. The book was a rust red colour with gold lettering on the front cover and spine. Dusty from the years of sitting. “You don't happen to understand latin do you?” You say holding the book out to Sam. He grabs it from you and looks at the front of the book.
“It just so happens that I grew up Catholic.” He says and quickly flips open the book and his jaw drops as he scans the pages.
“What...what do you see?” You ask coming over to him to look at the book yourself. He sits the book down on a nearby table. “Sam, what is it?” You ask again this time with more worry in your voice.
“Well, Y/N looks like you just found our treasures records.”He says smiling and looking down at you. You are beaming with excitement and quickly look back down at the book. “So, each of these lines is information about one captain of one ship that took one part of the treasure. So this thing is scattered every which way.”He says explaining what was located within the books records. Pointing at the entries within.
“Okay, so there should also be a book with information about what each part would consist of.” You add walking back over to the shelf where you found the first book. “Sam you think the book would have a title similar to that one?” Turning around to look at him but jumping when doing so seeing that he was already behind you.
“Yup that would make sense. Look for something along the lines of sapientibus fortunam.” He said with a chuckle at your reaction to him. Rolling your eyes you go back to searching for the book. After a few minutes of searching, you hear Sam pipe up. “You find anything yet?”
“Nothing even close to that phrase. What if the books that we are looking for are not even here anymore Sam?” You stop searching and drop to the floor needing the rest. He stops as well to come sit next to you.
“If it's not here then we will find another way. Don’t worry we will figure it out.”He said putting a hand on your shoulder trying to look at your face. You jerk away from him after a second unsure of why he thought it was appropriate to touch you after only knowing you for all of thirty minutes. Your eyes glancing over the bottom row of books.
“Sapien...tibus… Sam look!” You grab the book quickly pulling it into your lap. Opening it up to see the records inside. “Holy shit, is this it?” You ask holding the book closer to Sam for him to look over the page. You saw a smile form on his lips and you knew that it was the correct book he was about to say something but was cut off by the sound of men and boots trudging down the stairs. You stand up and grab both books. “This will have to do.” You whisper throwing the books into your backpack. Sam motions for you to get on the other side of the door opening. Nodding your head you bolt over there just in time to attack both of the mercs silently. “Take their guns.” You say to Sam before stealing the AK-47 from the man's hands.
“Let's try and keep this quiet, please.” He says as both of you crouch down hoping to not see more goons. Surprisingly you get out of the ruin without an insane firefight. Once out of range you both stop to catch your breath. “Up top?” He raises his hand and looks at you. You go ahead and accept the high five. Laughing at the lighthearted manner. “So let's get back to the city. Are you staying somewhere?” You hesitate ashamed of the fact that you didn't have enough money to even buy a hotel room. You look down at your feet again and shake your head to answer his question. “Good you get to hang out with me. We can figure out all of this together. Make a plan.” He says before smiling at you and starting to walk. You follow him all the way back to the city. Lucky to have no run in with that group of mercs. Scotland was beautiful and you wondered where you have to head off to next.
