Family Life

Elsie Genevieve Corvin was born to two muggles, Arthur and Maria Corvin in London, England on March 14, 1874.

She is the oldest of three siblings - her brother Benjamin is a year younger, and her sister Lydia is 6 years younger.

Her grandmother (mother's side) had moved to America where she had Elsie's mother. Her mother met her father when he traveled overseas for business, and they returned to England where they married. Her grandmother went with them.

Elsie and her brother were close growing up. She would follow him and his friends around and listen in on their conversations to learn what she wasn't being taught, and he would help her.

Elsie was very close with her grandmother before she passed when Elsie was 10.

Her father is very demanding and calculated. They argue a lot when Elsie is home because of his expectations for her.

Her parents have two homes - her father's townhome in the city for business, and a countryside home outside of London for pleasure (a gift to her mother when they were married).

Before

Her mother had 2 miscarriages in between her brother and her sister. Elsie was parentified by her family while her mother grieved.

Her father's father was high up in a finance company and passed on his wealth and job title to Elsie's father.

Elsie and her brother were given the highest expectations of the family - her brother to continue the family name and work at the finance company, and Elsie to help grow their wealth by marrying into another wealthy family.

Elsie met her suitor when she was 13.

She was taught by a governess when she was little and went to a finishing school when she was old enough. Elsie struggled to fit in and accept how things were taught, as her grandmother had raised her mother more progressively.

Her mother taught her to read. They have a strained relationship, but she is closer with her because of this.

She would sneak books into her room, either from buying them during her family's shopping trips, sneak them from her father's library, or her brother would bring her stories from his travels.

She was always naturally curious and would often get in trouble by her father or her governess/teachers for asking too many questions.

She was not very social and was considered an odd child. She made one or two friends growing up but generally was very sheltered.

Her emotional repression is ultimately what triggered her magic manifesting.

Elsie and her brother drifted apart when her magic manifested.

Elsie makes it her responsibility to take care of her sister, and she feels immensely guilty when she leaves for Hogwarts.

Physical appearance

Elsie has black hair and dark brown eyes that look almost golden in the sun.

She has freckles along her nose and cheeks.

She's not high-maintenance when she styles herself once she attends Hogwarts, but she likes to give herself a little bit of makeup and dress cleanly.

She wears her hair back in a braid to keep it out of her face when she styles it herself.

Her wand is made of Cherry wood and has a Phoenix core.

She loves daffodils.

Her grandmother taught her about the stars. She doesn't care for all of the facts about stars as much as she does about the constellations and what they remind her of.

She has a temper but she rarely lets it show unless thoroughly provoked. If she lashes out with big feelings, it usually means it's been repressed for a long time.

Her patronus is an Osprey.

Her boggart is often someone she values the opinion of (Fig, her parents, etc.) publicly expressing their disappointment in her or berating her.

I was inspired by @doctorwhoarchive post about Sam being genZ but being bullied by everyone that she’s a millennial. So this might be the most millennial thing I post on here. But like the convo between the core four surrounding this topic is so entertaining.

So I truly believe Chad buys Hogwarts Legacy (he has a ps4). He brings it over to play at the Carpenter apartment. Mindys groaning about she who will not be named. Chads ignoring Mindy as he actually doesn’t know who they are talking about. Tara’s sitting next to Chad watching him play when Sam walks into the room.

Anyway they take the quiz and Chad gets Gryffindor, Mindy gets Ravenclaw, Tara gets Slytherin and Sam gets Hufflepuff. They were all wrong and are respectively quite happy with the results.

Hogwarts Legacy worth the buy? Is it worth playing over and over again?

I bought it on sale for $20 and I've already put it down without finishing it. So no, lol

Tbf I am playing it on a base PS4 and the loading times are ATROCIOUS so that's probably severely detracted from my experience. On PC the entire world is preloaded and there's no delays or loading screens so that's probably the ideal platform to play it on. AND there are some pretty kickass sounding mods out there for it, such as a recent one that adds attending daily classes to the game and implements a house points system.

As a Harry Potter fan experience, getting to explore Hogwarts and Hogsmeade and locations like the Forbidden Forest is really incredible. And the combat is actually a lot of fun, it feels like the Batman Arkham games but with ranged instead of melee. And there is a bit of a power trip to using the unforgivable curses once you unlock them to completely obliterate combat sequences.

However the story and characters are all pretty ass. Sebastian is probably the only character I gave a damn about. Everyone else is forgettable at best and kind of annoying at worst.

If you're playing it on a good enough PC to get a seamless no loading gameplay experience and add some immersive mods, and you're in the midst of a Harry Potter fixation, then it's probably worth it if you get it on sale for $15-$20.

Highly recommend this one for you. I would actually buy it for you no joke. The less said the better about this game I liked it a lot. Hogwarts Legacy PS4 Review

March 26, 2024

This review is long overdue, but to be fair it's been a wild few months. I started playing Hogwarts Legacy in November 2023. I found it for an amazing price (brand new $20 at Best Buy!) so I had to get it. I'm so glad I did, it was such a peaceful (and sometimes chaotic) adventure.

Game: Hogwarts Legacy First Time/Replaying: First Time Game Time: 90 hours Console: PS4 Started: November 23, 2023 Finished: January 19, 2024

For my first playthrough, I decided to play as Ravenclaw because that is my House. I played this as a Wizarding World fan, so it was basically a dream come true. To explore not just Hogwarts Castle, but the MANY towns outside was truly special.

The flying mechanism in this game was amazing. It really felt like I was flying! (Due to the wind sound affects and easy movement.) It took awhile to get used to the Quidditch hoops side-quests, but once I got better at controlling my broom, those side-quests were fun.

Speaking of side-quests, this game has many. A few of them are games (like the Quidditch hoops) while others are fetch quests. Some of them are long side stories with Hogwarts students, which was a great way to get to know your classmates.

The game has something called a Field Guide that gives you quests that you must complete (such as: defeat X amount of goblins, raise X amount of creatures, etc.). I thought it was fun and a good way to tell me what I should work on next. You don't Platinum the game by completing theField Guide, but I'm not a trophy hunter so getting 100% on the Field Guide was enough for me.

I played this on a PS4 and I thought the graphics looked great. I know they look even better on a PS5 though, which is wild. Voice acting was good, character customization was very basic but that's fine. The multitude of costumes makes up for lack of appearance customization.

The game gives you different level options to play at. I chose "Story" mode because I was more interested in the story. It made the battles fairly easy but you still need to pay attention to your enemies and the spells you're casting. The story was phenomenal. I don't know what others were expecting, but to me it was a great standalone story with mystery and adventure. I really liked it!

Overall, the game is a lot of fun. You can truly explore to your heart's content, but I love that it's easy to reel yourself back in whenever you feel like you're wandering too far from the main story. Instant travel is available which comes in handy, but the many ways of traveling (I won't spoil them) make standard traveling so much fun, you might not even want to use instant travel!

Even if you aren't a Hogwarts or Wizarding World fan, I still think you could have fun playing this. However, if you are a Wizard/Witch yourself and love the HP world, then you definitely should play this! As long as you are open to a game that is not focused on The Boy Who Lived, you will find so many magical moments playing Hogwarts Legacy.
