Hiiii!!!!
I recently reread the LTF series and there was a bit about Zuko wanting to get the baby backpack/holster/wrap thing that Water Tribe women use for his egg. What if after Yue found out about the long, she got him one as a seeing-off gift or something? It'd be adorable. I'm kinda tempted to make art but I'm not that good with details and anatomy
I'm DELIGHTED! Yue absolutely would get him an amauti as a present :3 So here's that, and then some ;D
Filling LTF prompts for the New Year!
.
Yue fidgeted nervously with the ends of her sleeves as she waited for Elder Ikiaq to leave her and Zuko alone. She always spent some time with them, answering any questions they came up with from their discussion the day prior, then left them to freely talk without adult supervision. Not that they could freely talk in Elder Ikiaq’s office, that was reserved for Yue’s conservatory with only Kunnik as a potential eavesdropper, but there was still plenty to talk about besides Zuko being, well, Zuko.
Today was his last day in Agna Qel’a, so of course Zuko wanted to get as much as he could from Elder Ikiaq before he left. But Yue had a present to give him and really wanted to see him try it on!
Finally, Zuko’s curiosity was sated and Elder Ikiaq left with her usual teasing words, “Don’t solve your differences with your fists. I’m just down the hall if you need a mediator.”
Nevermind that Yue and Zuko’s disagreements never came close to getting physical. It was just one time Elder Ikiaq walked in on them in the middle of a shouting match and she wouldn’t let it go!
Wearing matching red cheeks, Yue and Zuko politely bid Elder Ikiaq farewell. They sat frozen in place as she left, then several moments longer to make sure she wasn’t about to return. In tandem, they whipped to each other with wide smiles. Whatever Zuko had to say was cut off by Yue shoving her present into his arms.
“What’s this?” Zuko asked, eyes wide.
Yue snorted and resolutely did not roll her eyes. “Well why don’t you open it instead of asking me?”
With a petulant scowl, Zuko pulled away the cloth wrapping. He stared down at the soft, dyed fur of the parka inside and tilted his head inquisitively. Rather than asking questions, he unfolded the parka and quickly discovered the extremely large hood which set it apart from the one he already had. Eyes flickering up to Yue with disbelieving excitement, Zuko turned his attention to the inside of the parka and let out an excited shout.
“It’s an amauti!”
Yue giggled, pleased her surprise was as well received as she hoped. Zuko was already pulling off what he was wearing, careful to keep the lóng egg concealed in the folds as he changed. The servants had looked at Yue oddly when she made the request for an amauti to give as a gift, but this was totally worth the gossip.
“Now you can keep her safer if your journey brings you to cold climates again.”
“It’s brilliant!” Zuko cheered as his head popped out of the mass of fur. “Help me figure out the best way to get her settled!”
Smile so wide her cheeks ached, Yue kept an ear out for anyone entering the room as she helped position their egg of hope in the baby holder. With its blanket wrapped around its top to hide its glow and the hood half pulled up, no one would be the wiser as to what Zuko was keeping warm next to his body.
Now, hopefully the next time he needed his parka, he wouldn’t be in the poles… People of the Earth Kingdom wouldn’t recognize the amauti for what it really was, but people of the Water Tribes definitely would.

Katara frowned at their strange guest. There were a lot of questions and mysteries surrounding him, but there was one thing that really caught her eye.
“Hey, Sokka, have you noticed-”
“Yes, Katara! Yes, I noticed everything! We need to chase him off; he’s so suspicious. He’s obviously working for the Fire Nation or-”
Katara elbowed her paranoid brother with a heavy sigh and rolled her eyes. “His clothes, did you notice his clothes? He said they got their parkas from the Northern Tribe, right? Why’d they give him an amauti?”
Sokka froze and whipped his head around to stare at their guest again. His jaw dropped. Before Katara could stop him, he was stomping over with a manic grin.
“Hey, Hui, are you a teen dad?!”

dont know if the prompt event is still ongoing but zuko getting absolutely plastered with jet sounds hysterical 🤭 bonus points if iroh finds out and nearly has an aneurysm
Anon, know this is has been PLAGUING me for the past week because I've wanted to write it so desperately. I really underestimated how busy back to work from holidays would be ugh.
Hope you enjoy, bc I sure did ;3
Set vaguely as future LTF au... or could fit into canon, who knows ;P
.
Something hitting his window startled Zuko awake. With all the shit he was getting up to in Ba Sing Se behind Uncle’s back, it wasn’t shocking that someone was bothering him in the middle of the night. It was shocking, however, to open his window to a clearly plastered Jet and barely dodging the next rock he’d already thrown.
“Blue!” Jet cheered none too quietly.
“Don’t call me that!” Zuko hissed, already turning back to his room to change. Another rock swiftly clattered into his room. What the fuck! Where were Smellerbee and Longshot? Why weren’t they doing a better job at babysitting their obnoxious leader?
Zuko dodged yet another rock as he stuck his head out the window to call down, “I’m coming down! Quit making a racket unless you want to wake up the whole damn neighborhood, or worse, my uncle!”
The warning thankfully worked, or maybe Jet ran out of rocks to throw, and Zuko made quick work of changing and packing essentials for a night out. He usually begrudged nights he was ditched for the Avatar, but it was rather lucky tonight. Sneaking out was hard enough without a dragon underfoot.
Rather than risk the creaky floorboard near Uncle’s room, Zuko simply jumped out his window. It was only the second floor, and it was as easy as breathing these days to cushion his fall with a bed of hot air.
A bottle reeking of alcohol was immediately shoved into his hands.
“Drink with me,” Jet said with a carefree grin. He slung his arm around Zuko’s shoulders, but didn’t lean on him for support. Although having already started drinking, Jet was far from drunk. The asshole had probably been annoying just to be annoying, rather than from alcohol dulling his decision making process.
Zuko led them down the street, not about to let Uncle catch them because Jet wanted to be a dick. He resolutely did not drink whatever swill Jet managed to get his hands on. “Why aren’t you drinking with your better halves?”
“I’m telling Smellerbee you complimented her!” Jet snorted. He took the bottle back and took a hearty drink from it. “They don’t like alcohol and I respect that. But drinking alone is fucking depressing. How fortunate my good friend Blue is in town.”
“Seriously, stop calling me that!” Zuko said through clenched teeth. He didn’t feel the presence of any Dai Li, but he wasn’t about to take any chances.
“My good friend who won’t tell me his real name is in town,” Jet amended with an exaggerated eye roll.
Ever since the Freedom Fighters realized Zuko was their masked visitor, they staunchly refused to believe anything he claimed as “Lee the refugee.” At least they didn’t suspect he was Fire Nation, let alone the wanted banished prince…
“I’ll drop it if you drink with me.”
Zuko sighed. “And why are we drinking?”
“Just cuz,” Jet said. His tone with light and he shrugged as if it were truly such a carefree reason. But his gaze was heavy and dark. Zuko recognized it all too well from his recent, solo travels.
“Oh fine, sure, let’s drink just cuz.” Zuko snatched the bottle and threw his head back to take a deep gulp. He almost choked on how pungent the shit was. He almost fell forward as he coughed and spluttered, only Jet’s arm on his shoulders kept him upright. “But we’re getting something non-toxic!”
Jet snickered as he took another chug. “It’s not that bad once you burn your taste buds off.”
“Absolutely not. I brought some money, it’s on me.”
“Well, far be it for me to stop you.” From Jet’s sly grin, Zuko almost wondered if that had been his angle all along in dragging Zuko out with him.
Eh, whatever, this wouldn’t be the stupidest thing Zuko had done in the past few months.
---
The sun rose, and so did Iroh. Although he did not need to worry about disrupting his nephew’s sleep at this early hour, the walls and floors were thin and neighbors had commented before about the early hours Iroh kept. While that certainly wouldn’t immediately paint them as firebenders, Iroh erred on the side of caution. So it was with quiet steps that he started to prepare breakfast. No noise came from Zuko’s room, which was expected. He, too, was cautious to complete his morning workout in silence.
He only just set the kettle on to boil when something crashed outside their apartment.
Iroh’s heart leaped to his throat as he put out the fire and rushed to the front door. Hopefully no one was hurt or causing trouble. The last thing they needed was the local authority snooping around their complex. Young, hushed voices filtered through the door as Iroh approached it, as if the cause of the noise was right outside.
Frowning, Iroh carefully unlatched the deadbolt (which would do nothing if anyone truly wanted to get through their flimsy door) and tried to slide the door open. It was heavy, as if there was a resisting weight on the other side. With a firm tug, Iroh pulled it open and two bodies spilled into the entryway.
“Shit,” the young man crushed under his friend’s dead weight said from the ground. A young man who should have been entering the kitchen from another door, from his room where he should have just woken up.
“See, told ya we shoulda knocked,” the young man crushing Iroh’s nephew slurred, burying his face into Zuko’s shirt with a jaw-cracking yawn. He spoke with his eyes closed, seconds from succumbing to sleep. “Hi, Uncle, sorry I borrowed Bluuu-Lee last night.”
Iroh took a deep breath and pinched the bridge of his nose as he realized just who Zuko’s companion was. “Nephew, is this not the young man who picked a fight with you at the tea shop?”
“Oh- Uh… We didn’t fight again, promise!” Zuko exclaimed, as if the overpowering scent of alcohol wasn’t wafting off the pair as evidence of what they had been up to. “We’re uh… friends now?”
Deep breaths. Losing his temper wasn’t going to do anyone any favors when the recipients of his scolding were drunk as wolf skunks. In the grand scheme of things, this was the least of Zuko’s offenses. If anything, Iroh should be happy he hadn’t burst into the apartment with the Dai Li on his tail.
Laughter pulled Iroh from his thoughts. He looked up to realize their neighbors were poking their heads out their doors in varying stages of lucidity this early in the morning. The mother of four from across the hall was the one laughing.
“Don’t be too harsh on them, Mushi! It’s nice to see Lee making friends his own age!” She teased, which brought some chuckles from the rest of their audience. “Put them to bed, and I’ll come by with some hangover soup for them later.”
“Need some help moving them?” The construction worker down the hall offered, dressed and about to head out to work.
Iroh looked down and swallowed back a completely inappropriate frustrated scream. In the time it took Iroh to try to compose himself and get distracted by their neighbors, Zuko had fallen asleep. The two teenage boys were tangled together in a heap of limbs, completely dead to the world.
“I have half a mind to leave them there,” Iroh grumbled, to their neighbors’ amusement.
He wasn’t joking.

LTF prompt: Hakoda presenting the Wing's offer of alliance to the SWT fleet council after Fox reaches out as Suluk.
This was fun! :D Short and sweet~
Filling LTF prompts for the New Year!
.
The Southern Water Tribe fleet rarely gathered in one place. It was a risk not worth the ease of communication. Their birds were fast and reliable enough to coordinate most maneuvers and decisions. Fleet Leader Chief Hakoda had not called the entire fleet together since they left polar waters. It had to be a big reason to call all the ships together deep in Fire Nation territory.
The cove Chief Hakoda called the fleet to gather at was well concealed and easily defensible. It was perfect, really, which easily led to the topic which brought them together.
While setting up camp and perimeter, Chief Hakod’s crew was very open about their recent activities. It was easy to surmise they had gained a new information source between the Water Tribe’s spy network. Such news was a clear gain for the fleet’s war effort, but did not warrant a full meeting. Speculation had leaders on edge for the coming meeting.
They ship captains and first mates gathered in the large tent erected for them. A cheerful fire crackled in the center of the tent, making it almost too warm with the crush of bodies and lingering heat of a late spring day.
Chief Hakoda sat among them, an equal despite his leadership position. He earned his position for his cunning and resourcefulness. It wasn’t a power play for him, which made him the best choice to command fellow chiefs. Shadows danced from the fire across his determined expression. For some reason, he was prepared for battle.
“As you may have gathered from my men, we have gained a new information source. Hopefully, this informant can become a formal ally. Atka and her spies are of the same mind. So, now, I must ensure this only strengthens our forces, rather than create a divide among us.”
“How could a new ally divide us?” Someone called derisively.
“They are Fire Nation,” Chief Hakoda said, direct and with no room for misunderstanding.
Voices raised and some men stood as they shouted their opinions. Chief Hakoda did not flinch. He sat tall and did not shy from the upset directed at him.
Chief Hakoda would not let this meeting conclude until the fleet captains unanimously agreed to an alliance. If the war was truly to end, they needed a vision for the future. And no proper vision could erase the Fire Nation from the picture. One day, they would need to work with the Fire Nation, was it not better to already have allies when that day came? They needed the Wings, and if you asked him, the Wings needed them just as much.

Helloooo!
In LTF, we never really saw Kavi telling stories about Lu Ten, especially about the nature of their relationship. Does Zuko ever suspect anything? Are there any cute moments about this? Thank youuuuu <333
Oh anon. This got away from me haha. I didn't end up sharing any new Lu Ten and Kavi stories, but I hope this satisfies you <3
(realized once i finished that this is set after the next three chapters that haven't been posted yet haha. It's fine ;P)
Filling LTF prompts for the New Year!
.
For a while now, Zuko had been working off the idea that Lu Ten was to Kavi as Akari was to Yangchen. They had been childhood friends and shared a deep bond that developed into romantic love. The way Kavi spoke about Lu Ten, well, it was exactly how Zuko heard Yangchen’s voice in his head when he read her words. But here’s the thing, Kavi had never said anything on the matter.
So when the usual gang bombarded Zuko with questions about the nature of Kavi and Jae’s relationship when he sat down for dinner, he was completely blind sided and stupidly signed, “I thought Kavi was with my cousin.”
Awkward silence and stillness followed his dumb statement.
It was Amphon who broke the silence with a whine as she dragged her hands down her face, “Oh my god, I cannot believe I completely missed that.”
Yan slammed his hands on the table, then quickly raised them to sign with his spoken words, “No, no, it’s fine! There’s still a chance he and Jae sparked something recently!”
“The bet is still on!” Souta said in support.
“I think it’s cheating to ask Zuko,” Raju signed, much less reticent since becoming proficient in sign language. “He knows them on a more personal level, case in point.”
Chanda nodded. “Kavi rarely shares really personal stories here, most of them are in private with Zuko. So it makes sense you all wouldn’t have noticed. Not that it’s any of our damned business.”
“I’m sorry, am I the only one doubting that Zuko picked up on a romance no one else did?” Ye-jun interjected in disbelief.
That had everyone pausing in contemplation, a long enough pause for Zuko to decide he was offended by their reaction.
“What is that supposed to mean? I knew Akari and Yangchen were a thing even before Yangchen wrote about their first kiss! I don’t like love stories, but that doesn’t mean I’m stupid!” With a huff, he finally sat down and glared down everyone at the table. “Regardless, we shouldn’t be gossiping about his private life, let alone making bets. This better be the last I hear of this.”
While Chanda nodded in agreement and the rest of them looked properly chastised, Ye-jun leaned forward with his chin in his hands, fluttering his eyelashes in an obnoxious way he claimed was cute. “But you’re going to ask for confirmation and let us know, right?”
“Absolutely not!” Zuko said like a liar.
Because after dinner, he and Kavi met on the deck for a light spar. They usually cooled off by chatting in the relative privacy of the bow of the deck as they maintained their swords. Rather than letting the conversation flow naturally, Zuko fixed Kavi with a focused stare, sword maintenance kit untouched.
“Were you and Lu Ten together romantically?” He paused as a horrid realization hit him. “Wait, was it a secret?!”
Kavi was only momentarily surprised, then shook his head with a soft laugh. “Yes, we were. Sorry, I guess I never really explicitly said so, huh? It wasn’t a secret per se, at least not until we joined the siege. Even then, it was an open secret among our units. No, your uncle never knew, but it’s fine if you’ve said something. It doesn’t change anything now.”
Trust Kavi to not only answer Zuko’s questions, but predict and resolve his follow up questions in one fell swoop. There was just one more thing Zuko had thought he was secure in assuming, and now was better than ever to find out if he was being delusional or not…
“Uh, so, even if you guys never got married or anything. I don’t even know if you wanted to some day. But- um.” Zuko fidgeted with the binding of his sword handle, a bad habit that Kavi and Master Piandao tried and failed to get him to stop. “Since Lu Ten was more a big brother than a cousin, I’ve been- well, thinking of you as a brother-in-law of sorts. I can stop, of course, if that makes you uncomfortable or-”
A tight hug cut off Zuko’s nervous word vomit. For all their closeness the past year, Zuko didn’t think Kavi ever hugged him before. His arms were warm and solid, not a trace of lingering weakness from his recovery. Zuko couldn’t remember the last time he was hugged. Maybe when Bun Ma left…
It was nice, but he hesitated too long to return it, so Kavi pulled away sooner than Zuko would have liked. But his hands remained on Zuko’s shoulders as he smiled a blinding smile.
“Of course you’re my little brother, no matter how long it's been, no matter we never could formally merge families. You’re my butterbee as much as his.”
Zuko matched his smile, heart full. “I usually don’t care about love stories, but, I’d like to hear about yours, if you’d like to share.”
Kavi laughed as he leaned back, taking his warmth with him. “Honestly, that’s why I didn’t talk more about us. I’ve heard your tirades against Yangchen’s sappy anecdotes.”
“W-well that’s because there’s only so many words and there’s more exciting things to read than how cute or pretty or funny Akari was! It’s not that I hate hearing about love stories or anything!”
After allowing more teasing he usually would, in honor of their solidified brotherhood, Zuko huffed and demanded a story before they turned in for the night. Kavi easily agreed and almost started when Zuko remembered what started this whole thing to begin with.
“Hey! Did you know the crew is betting whether or not you and Jae are romantically involved? Are you?”
“No, we aren’t.” Kavi smirked and winked. “And don’t tell your friends. We’ve been messing with the crew since the betting pool started.”
Zuko snorted and shook his head. “Alright, good. I mean, uh, not that there’s anything wrong with that, of course, you don’t have to be married to Lu Ten’s memory or anything. But I was going to be upset if you two were a thing and were hiding it from me.”
Laughing, Kavi threw his arm over Zuko’s shoulder and pulled him into a half embrace. “I wouldn’t dare keep such a secret from my little brother!”
As he started his story about him and Lu Ten getting together, Kavi kept his arm around Zuko. Ever so slowly, Zuko relaxed against him. It was nice having a big brother again.
