April Season is nearly over, so today is the final two-for-one and a bit of a bonus since I didn’t think I could find the originals when I started all this! The Mad Eggs, Humpty and Dumpty!!

So I don’t know if anyone has access to a full scan of this picture, I found a picture with this button and a few other Elliot charmes a while ago, but I’m dying for a scan of the full image used for the button! If anyone knows where I could find a full scan of this, in even just okay resolution, I would be so so grateful!

The untold love story.

Once upon a time there was a toy soldier and a lost girl...

notes i’m not very familiar with the characters but i tried OTL. have this pairing in miniature.

pairing mad eggs/alice 

Alice squats right down on the loam and grass, her hair mussed by wind, a butterfly net twice her size propped on her scrawny shoulder. She takes a deep breath, and gravelly announces, “I want a divorce.”

“No.” Using a needle, Dumpty stabs a dead butterfly through its abdomen, not even sparing her a glance. “You’re stuck with us forever.”

Her little arms tighten around the pole, as if to protect the remaining butterflies snagged in her net. Their wings flutter minutely, alive. “I don’t want to be married to a butterfly-killer!”

“Technically, they’re already dead.” He slides another one along a string, making a colourful, morbid garland. “The fumes killed ‘em, not me. Now put the others in the trap before they fly away.”

“Hey!” Both children snap their heads toward Humpty; he glares at them in turn, a line of butterfly corpses draped over his shoulders like organic finery. Alice thinks he looks silly like that, standing amidst a field of butterflies with their fallen brothers around his neck. Humpty claimed it’s symbolic, to show every tree and creature that he’s more beautiful than the butterflies.

To this, Dumpty jumped to volunteer his services. Claimed Humpty will have more opportunity to prance around, displaying his beauty to nature while he threads the insects for him.

She’s helping because catching them is fun, but she knows better.

He just wants to see his twin be creepy.

“You two are supposed to be watching my magnificent performance!” Humpty cries, flailing his arms about. “What is this I hear about divorce?”

“You’re both butterfly abusers,” Alice accuses. “I’m putting an end to our play-marriage!”

“But she can’t get out of it,” Dumpty pipes up, his voice cheery. “We made a blood pact. It’s permanent.”

“That’s not fair!”

“No, no. Our family is Mafia, Alice.” Humpty’s abandoned his stage among the foxgloves and buttercups, looming over her with his hands on his hips. A teasing grin plays on his mouth. “When you make a blood pact with the Mafia, you have to stick true with it or you’ll be. . .” Here, he imitates a gun with his hand, shooting with a premature, “Pshew!”

Alice stares up at him. “Is that what’ll happen if I tell them about the vases you broke?”

“What? No! Don’t do that!”

“I might.” She sticks her tongue out.

A soft yank to her arm jostles her, and she turns to meet with cool yellow eyes. “We don’t abuse them.”

“What?”

“The butterflies,” Dumpty drawls, demonstrating by lifting the lid off his custom-made bug trap. Inside, she can see parts of the twitching, beautiful carcasses. “They don’t suffer when they die. I made this mixture especially, so it’s perfectly humane.”

Blue eyes widen. “Really?”

“Supposedly.”

I love when Alice tells the Mad Eggs they are beautiful for the first time and Humpty dramatically confesses that he knew that was how she felt in her heart all along but also that she was shy, so that’s why it didn’t come out sooner (pretty sure everyone is shy compared to him lol). You have to hear it to get the full theatrical effect XD. Pretty sure he floated up into the heavens after hearing someone affirm his beliefs.

Humpty obviously digs for the most important information in a heart first.
