Well here we are....I’ve started a blog! Hello... 

I’m Gabby the founder & creator behind HNDMDE REBELLION & COMMUNE. The brands exist as two entirely different entities, COMMUNE is a menswear label specialising in sustainability and enterprise. Whilst HNDMDE REBELLION is a colourful place full of rainbows which allows me to create unique pieces for you lovely people (reading this) whilst exploring my own creativity! It’s works in perfect harmony! 

After stumbling upon the Lovetosew podcast (You should definitely give it a listen) I’ve had a revelation... in my nearly 4 years of sewing, WHY HAVE I NEVER SEW ANY CLOTHES FOR MYSELF?!...*drum roll* this is where HNDMDE REBEL comes in. A place for me to document what I’m up to, what I’m making and keep inspired!

So heres the first garment i’ve EVER sewn for myself! Say hello to the ‘sheet dress’...I love my clothes oversized and comfortable - Although some people may find it hard to imagine, sometimes extremely oversized can look cool! 

For this I used a second-hand woman’s dress pattern I found in a charity shop! I wanted to start out fairly cheap and cheerful, using chiffon fabric sourced from the remnant bin over at @B&Mfabrics in Leeds, UK. It cost me £3 for 3 metres! What a barg-bin?! 

I learn’t something when sewing this - Not all patterns are graded to all sizes (8-20) and in fact this pattern was not a size 14 like I thought, it was a size 18. Now, that explains the silhouette...Ah well, I love it! 

On to the next one...what shall I sew next?!
