speaking of, how do you think things in splatoon are proportioned compared to irl? like, if callie was standing in front of you right the fuck now with a roller (holy shit) how would those things compare i have my own thoughts that it's somewhere in-between what we see in game and what we see in some illustrations where they're straight up identically sized, but at the same time they're also depicted in art as how they appear in-game, so i'm curious what you think it would probably be down to a personal interpretation of what the game & art style is representing but hmmmmm

Honestly i always assumed that Inklings and Octolings are roughly the same size and height as humans, maybe a little shorter because of their stature but i don't think they are as tiny as irl squids and octopi? octopuses? octopussies? idfk. but yeah i don't think they are significantly smaller than us. A human could probably hold a splattershot and it would look like a regular sized water gun.

Although in Octo Expansion, some levels you can see floating Gamecubes and other similar items but i just think that's neat decorations and not anything that should be taken all that seriously when it comes to knowing how things compare to our world. The Deepsea Metro is a weirdddddd place and it's not fully explained, which makes sense because it's meant to be this mysterious world much like our own deep sea and it's weird as hell creatures.

Also if Callie was standing right in front of me i would probably scream at the top of my lungs and then faint. And then wake up a bit later and idk... ask for an autograph and a hug? i want a hug..... a hug sounds good rn.....

Just thought I'd post some random Pixiv recs for my fellow enjoyers of ZOOL shenanigans~

カキ has some really cute illustrations. This is one of my favourite collections, and I particularly love the how it started vs how it's going pic of Touma being all, "uhh, guys???"

猿川円 also does some lovely illustration collections. One of my favourites is a collection of stuff from APOZ and Beyond the Period, partly for this lovely scene of Minami being reminded of Haruki before rejoining the rest of the group.

ymd does a lot of gen stuff as well (along with some ToraMina if you like that sort of thing), and their art is super pretty. This comic collection is very amusing, especially this one. Very rough and short translation...

Haruka: This is hilarious. They’re saying ZOOL get along so well, the four of them should just live together and marry each other. Do we really seem that buddy-buddy?

Touma: M-marry?! Why would they say that!?

And then Haruka, Minami and Torao are like lol sounds like fun, let's do that, live in a crazy expensive Midou residence and buy a really big rice cooker, while Touma eventually just kind of goes along with it and is all

Like the last comic when they finish up work early so Touma asks the others if they want to grab dinner together but they all play hard to get, so he's like, whatever, guess I'll invite Riku instead, and they're like WHY AREN'T YOU TRYING HARDER TO ASK US OUT??? and he's like GOD YOU'RE SUCH A PAIN IN THE ASS.

I also greatly enjoyed this collection and this comic of the rest of ZOOL getting jealous of Touma's interactions with Riku the most.

1. what is your favourite piece of artwork you've ever worked on?

literally Just answered im so sorry right now it's the megumi piece in my pinned but hmmmmm as for others. as much as it made me want to die and i can never look at a fucking hydrangea normally again, the itfs ajisai comic was a labour of fucking love. i worked day in day out running on 3 hours of sleep fr 4 days in a row.

not only did i have a Vision i wanted to convey, tht whole project was a whole lot of proving to myself that i could do art things tht had intimidated me in the past. comics have always been uncharted territory for me, and at this point i had already done the train one, but this was the first one where /I/ was orchestrating the full scene, not just adding illustrations to someone else's words. tbh now that i think of it the ajisai comic ended up killing 4 birds with one stone ??? it was practice for comic layout and panelling, character interaction and body language, colours, aND backgrounds . ya no wonder i wanted to die ghjdskgj this project broke me down but i crawled back stronger

6. do you have any WIPs that you'd like to share?

spoken like someone who isn't getting live updates on my current project /affectionate. uhhhh i don't have any other wips atm everything i've started lately i've already Finished but .rummages around. oh here's a suku!megu i dropped back in early 2023 before i ghosted tumblr for 7 months :'> maybe i'll revamp him i do like the fit

Viewing the world with these eyes, your focus is always on the colors, attractiveness, style and pleasure that the eyes bring. Although we see only 5% of what we project, Hmmmmm...... Yes project! these eyes we use are projectors to are inner thoughts and perceptions also our subconscious views. Our eyes capture light, then turns it into electrical signals and go through a process inside the brain, which analyzes what its seeing. Yes thats what they say happens..... and it could be the case, i truthfully think its more to this phenomenon body we reside in at the moment we are on this realm. Eyes are the black hole where everything goes and come from. Also so much travels through it like a portal, just like space they always trying to understand the black hole or see whats in there. The black hole consist of matter that is tightly squeezed into a small area... hmmmm kinda sounds like something that is inside of us already and how we manifest. All the planets, portals, and lost powers are within us, " AS ABOVE,SO BELOW " . When you open your eyes and let everything in, like tv, negative sights, bad sensory, programming visuals, into your unconscious portal. You are helping calcify your pineal gland or your ( 3rd eye ) . One thing i noticed is people who lost their sight or were born without sight are so talented or let me rephrase that.... they are so gifted or just have strong senses!. Yes i know when a person loses one sense! the other get stronger! But its different than a talent or skill, like when a person has to practice or obtain it from numerous times of repetition. They are tapping into their unconscious natural born gifts, which cant be duplicated. Its when you are limited or cant rely on something everyone uses so easily, you have to go within and gain your natural powers and your true vision. Wonder why? and how? maybe they dont have the light coming through their black holes or portals. So they have everything tight and locked away. Its kinda like when you in a dream but still conscious and able to function normally but cant see the physical world, but you can go within without any distractions or light disrupting your deep thoughts or manifestations. In astrology Venus rules the eyes or eye sight, from the 12th house ( Pisces ) is the left eye. Venus in the 2nd house ( Taurus ) is your right eye. 1st house is ( Aries ) is your head, so much is derived from your brain, its your temple where everything stems from. Just from one thought with great intent you can create a masterpiece. If you ever stared deep into your own eyes through a mirror, you can see deep into your own soul and if you stare long enough you wont recognize yourself. You start to question who am i ? is this really me? like this soul doesn't resonate with this new body or image. You are a image of your imagination you created and constructed through your desire and manifestation. We all came from darkness and light shines upon us. We all rely on our sight than any other senses, and thats the reason we cant tap into our past life powers or true gifts. Yes its nice to see beautiful things, nice scenery, colors, food, and people! Or its our perception that creates these images we see ? How you feel is what you manifest, which is how you create. If you want to see something scary and thats always on your mind, conscious or subconscious you will manifest those images and create them into reality to take place in this realm. You are the writer, illustrator, director, and camera man or woman in your own head or mind. Try this one day when you wake up, just before you open your eyes, get up or on your phone or stress your brain about lifes problems or issues. Close your eyes lay back down, like you trying to go back to sleep, just relax, imagine how you want your day to play out. All the beautiful things you want to see, experience and enjoy. Don't have not one doubt, or even a pinch of negative thought in your mind, Now open your eyes with excitement, like its your first time in this body and on this realm.

You will start to see the artist, writer director and camera man or woman go to work! ( YOU )! We know nothing is forever and we have to go through loses, misfortunes, ups and downs. How would you know what BLISS is if you never experienced MISERY! how would you know what HAPPINESS is if you never went through SADNESS!. Thats why Pisces represents BLISS, HAPPINESS, with one self, loving, accepting all things as they are with no judgement. When you have that mindset and beautiful thoughts, you manifest, create those images in your brain and your eyes become the projector to create that movie for you. Same as a Taurus the sign of all 5 senses. When you want to see beautiful colors, pleasure to the eyes, you tap into your more earthy lower nature, to physically, create these things. So you can touch, taste, smell, hear, and see them. Also Taurus can make you fixed on what you see, feel, taste, hear and smell, with only relying on the physical aspect other than the imagination side as in Picses. As a Pisces deals with dreams, illusions, and the ether realm and the unseen. So you can close your eyes and just image all those great things, without having to physically touch, materially create them or see them with your actual eyes. As in for Taurus, needs things that are tangible, physically, practical to the eye. When both eyes or both sides of the brain are linked you create heaven on earth!. Thats why Venus is the creative planet or energy that helps you be a artist, from creating with your imagination, dream, to being a chef that can turn food into a work of art physically. When those two signs are linked its nothing but straight artistry and pure gifts. You are able to experience the earthy, material and tangible side of life, as well you are able to experience the more spiritual, blissfulness, and higher conscious side of your soul. You become a very divine soul with so much insight and perspectives on both sides of this experience. So many people or souls have this experience confused, its not about being becoming a monk, shaman, priest, super religious person or a guru who doesn't accept life on earth. Its all about the experience and knowing how to experience, learn, gain knowledge, let go, and know whats good and bad for you. As you move on to a higher consciousness experience, higher self with more wisdom, accept all your convictions, decisions in life and cherish your experiences here on earth, you can welcome your soul back here to experience more desires your eyes could never get enough of or let those desires go and let your soul ascend to a more powerful divine realm that is multifaceted with unlimited outcomes and special inner peace.

Add Lord of the Rings to your list if you havent already, i know i featured hobbit stuff in past reviews but the other books get some tasty meals too. Off the top of my head Monster Hunter has really good depictions of meals (visually)

but doesnt get into what they actually are unless you study and figure it out yourself-

so i asked my friends and heres what they added:

how did you do that xray color effect on that law picture?

short answer: adjustment layers

long answer (gore cw and eyestrain cw):

i started with a base painting. i initially really wanted to do something like those old nasty anatomical cross section illustrations but i couldnt get it to look right and i got tired of trying to draw actual anatomy. my solution was to draw muscle fibers and uhh "bones" as new layers, which i set to color. those got merged with a duplicate of the base, which is going to be clipped onto my next magic trick.

on a new layer, i scribbled some swooshes in. i started just with black and then added the white later, and ill be honest i dont remember why i did that or if it makes a difference? anyway here you can see how it looks when the layer is set to normal mode.

i clipped the duplicated painting onto the scribble, so now you only see the muscly bits on wherever the scribble is. clipping masks are my best friend. please do not worry about the number of copies of layers. i do not have a problem.

i do not remember why i even did this but i duplicated the b/w scribble and inverted the colors. obviously this is the, idk, "sculpted" version, which is why its got more stuff going on. this is how it looks when the layer is set to "normal."

i am very sorry for how this text looks but the plain grey background doesnt really do much at all to show how exclusion works, and i didnt want to have a giant block of neon red because it hurt my eyeballs. anyway, you can see that wherever the white is gets inverted so now theres blue instead of red. when i do this sort of thing i kinda just go ham with different brushes, colors, and adjustment layer settings to see what works and what doesnt. the xray effect was ultimately the result of me going "hmmmmm i wonder what this button does" and rolling with whatever comes out. and im pretty pleased with the result!

👀 oh i would also be very interested in hearing about your au if you care to share. i think i got through the intro narration and immediately went oh this is reminding me of tlt lol, lots of resonant themes around control, identity, and love, and then a chained princess alleged to end the world.

ours has harrow as the player & shifting mound and gideon as the princess & narrator with the voices being various characters from gtn (originally it was harrow and alecto as princess for obvious reasons, with gideon as hero and john as narrator, but we thought this gelled better with canon dynamics). we're playing a bit loose with the timeline and it's not 1:1 with the paths or voices just because of there are limited options but i'm tempted to try writing it once we finish ironing out some of the finer details

omg sorry for sitting on this for a week i was experiencing the horrors but i have a BRAIN now!! anyway 100% same, the vibes were just very tlt i was like HMMMMM and immediately started playing with characters in my mind palace!!

my immediate thought was honestly the jalecto of it all..... cosmically connected M/F where neither is actually human, where one is locked up and the other is like, fate-bound to slay her? yeah. the control mixed up with love, apocalypse, etc etc ugh it's so good

and omg I love all your ideas!!! I also settled for Harrow as the player and Gideon as the princess (her locked in a tower swag!) and am going for a griddlehark centric fic but Harrow/Alecto is SO galaxy brained as well!! I love the idea of having the voices be other characters from the book it is giving Harrow Summoned Them Back To The River Bubble!! Ianthe as the narrator is also so fun bc HER mind palace was a theater so u know her narration would be just. the most dramatic.

u should try to write it (if u want to) it would be so cool!! my current WIP is sort of stagnating because of the specific narrative style (aka: im trying to emulate a VN without the illustrations, so.... just an N? jfbdjdjsj) but it is fun to take out and poke now and then.
