Sharing some #WorldHistory with the youth since this information is NOT in their #HistoryBooks πŸ”΅πŸŒ΄πŸ”΄ On October 9th we will be taking a bus trip again to Savannah, Ga to celebrate the 8th year anniversary of the Haitian Memorial Monument. The monument represents a proud symbol of Haitian Soldiers, "Les Chasseurs Volontaires De Saint Domingue" who came to America to help the American army beat the British in the American Revolutionary War at the Siege of Savannah in 1779. We will parade to Franklin Square where the monument is displayed once we arrive on Friday morning, October 9th to Honor the Fleet of Haitian Soldiers in their involvement in America History. Later that afternoon we are invited to visit Savannah City Hall to absorb more of the Haitian influence in Savannah, Georgia. At City Hall we will be greeted by Elected Officials who will further speak to us about the Haitian Soldiers who took part at the Siege of Savannah in 1779. On Saturday, October 10 we will rise in the Savannah Downtown District and attend and take part in the Haitian Heritage Caribbean Fest which will last for most of the day. The festival will be Hosted by @MECCAakaGRIMO and will feature several artist to entertain you throughout the day and early evening. There will be Vendors, Food, Music at the Festival. Our Hotels are located in close proximity to the Festival and Franklin Square so you are never to far from your belongings. On Sunday, October 11, we board the bus in the morning and ride to St. Augustine to visit the oldest city in Florida. While in St. Augustine we will stop and visit General George Biassou's home. General George Biassou was a Haitian General in charge of the Spanish Army. We will continue on a boat ride to explore more Haitian History at Fort Matanzas in St. Augustine. We will return back home on Sunday night from our Cultural Adventure. Hope you can join us on this expedition to Pay Homage to our Heritage and Culture. #SiegeOfSavannah1779 #FranklinSquare #LesChasseursVolontairesDeSaintDomingue #HaitianHistory101 #HistoryNeverTold #GeneralGeorgeBiassou #HaitianHeritageCaribbeanFestival #HaitianAmericanHistoricalSociety #BusTour #HaitiLives #HaitiWasBornInMe
