Captain Bonnet in a state of undress

I FINALLY FINISHED MY FUCKING STOCKINGS!!!

they could do with a wash now, but after doing half the clocks in the wrong shade of white because I was only working on it at night after work and couldn't tell the difference in my shitty lighting, then the entire city being apparently out of white embroidery floss so I had to order it online, then getting distracted finishing a shirt in time for an outing I didn't even end up wearing it to, THEY'RE FINALLY DONE!!

made out of a cotton knit and embroidery thread, entirely hand sewn <3 I started them in... mid-October I think? it took me a while to cobble a pattern together from a few different sources, then I made a couple of mockups from scrap cotton and an old tshirt to prove it all at least fit together. then I made them out of the proper fabric, racing to just get them in one piece in time for a closet halloween costume. that led to a bunch of alterations: taking in most of the seams, bringing the hem way down, and reshaping the ankle and knee so they didn't bunch up so badly. then, of course, the aforementioned white floss shortage (seriously, wtf). but FINALLY..... THEY'RE DONE......

now i just gotta........... make the rest of the suit................. >.>

I remember discovering the fire of Notre Dame on tumblr, so I'm very sorry to inform everyone that the Danish Stock Exchange in Copenhagen, completed in 1625, is burning. Its unique spire has fallen, and as the building is, to a larger degree than Notre Dame, made of wood, mortar, and stucco, there may be very real structural damage. As you can see from the image, they were in the process of restoring it, just as it was the case with the church. Very real reconsideration should be done to how we restore very old buildings if we keep setting them on fire during the work.

People off the street have been seen running into the building and bringing out historical art pieces, primarily paintings. If you are close by, DO NOT do this! I know it appears the heroic thing to do, but no human life is worth the risk to save a painting, no matter how significant.

#hms camelot #arturiana #this is not. good art im so out of practice #but everyone think about uniforms please #btw not pictured but lancelot is wearing trousers and boots #instead of the usual stockings and fancy boy shoes #he owns no clothes besides his uniforms and like. casual cambric shirts n trousers #formal occasion is dress uniform and half of it is borrowed from gawain #gawain has a massive wardrobe and he is terrible #his uniform is made of the highest quality material and equisitely tailored #historical note that officers did have uniforms but had to provide them themselves #so they would vary in quality of materials and tailoring

Roxas: Had the Halloween town kids throw bombs in his face for multiple missions in a row before finally breaking down and smacking them around a bit.

Ventus: The dwarves were rude and refused to talk to him, immediately resorted to chasing them down and whacking them.

Characterization I see frequently: Ah, yes, Roxas is the one always willing to throw hands and Ventus is a smol sunshine boy.

#kh #kingdom hearts #these are really silly examples but the point stands!#in fact I think it expands when you look at their full screen-time #I am once again begging people to watch a full let's play of Days #don't get me wrong Ventus IS brightness and sunshine #but he also has the energy of a chihuahua ready to fight the world and I will stand by that #where as Roxas will tend to just try to avoid it until he Very Much Can't #now I think Roxas does BITTERNESS better than Ventus or Sora #but bitterness is not temper #in fact bitterness is usually negative emotions left on the backburner until the resentment caves in on itself #I suppose this is up to interpretation but from my reading...#a lot of times Ventus seems to burn out his anger then let it go #whereas Roxas doesn't do anything with the emotions until he/the situation self-destructs catastrophically so it ends up being nastier #but on the day-to-day?#yeah no Ventus is going to be the one reacting first #you can also exchange Sora for Ventus for some of these arguments #though I think he lands somewhere between Ventus and Roxas for short-temperedness #all this is more complicated than this reductive commentary of course #you have to take in how and in what orders the characters were introduced and marketed #the difficulty of getting the handheld games historically and the biases that set in before they were easily accessed #not to mention stock archetypes for fandom joke set-ups that then perpetuate the characterization...#like there's a LOT to how this came to be #but it Gets To Me sometimes #yza talks about a thing

I have a pretty good handle on where to get bits of costumery for 18thc (though I'm more likely to Stare At than purchase)#does anybody know good suppliers for late nineteenth century reproduction menswear things?#primarily on the hunt for one of those detachable collars since I don't expect to have the capability to make one myself #... I might still be here for the 1920s one and I do have a dress already that's suitable for that #but I have already injured myself doing the charleston once in my life and I don't want to repeat the incident!#also I dress a lot more masculine than I did in 2019... while my lovely turquoise ballgown is Nice it is not the Vibe anymore
