one of the several things worth praising about drdt chapter 2 is how every single member of the cast has at least one moment where the spotlight is shone on them. like, at this point in the story, if you chose a character at Random, regardless of who you landed on, you could still make a pretty meaty video essay on them. 14 characters, nevermind 16, is still quite a sizeable cast, so the fact that the story's able to give everyone their time to shine, adding depth without anyone left forgotten, is really impressive to me

#drdt #danganronpa despair time #like. genuinely #I'll try it myself: the first character I thought of was Arturo. he's a character I'm not particularly obsessed with #chapter 2 marks the turning point where Arturo's status as pure comic relief is taken apart #whilst he still had his celebrity worship thing going on (doubly so with the reveal of J's mother) we're shown aspects of him beyond that #his threatening of Eden. his reaction to his secret. him being a plastic surgeon child prodigy #his genuine fear at not being able to revive Levi because of his limited skillset. stuff that isn't immediately funny #his moment with Ace cements a vital part of his arc. because he's not Just an insufferable bastard you could easily brush over or laugh at #he's a core piece of chapter 2's overarching story. and here he is crying and sobbing and being encouraged to believe in his skills #a position that would've been impossible in chapter 1 #^^ it took me some rephrasing but that's off the dome #the character writing is really fucking cool guys...#drdt spoilers #danganronpa despair time spoilers #nooty lore
