scrbblescrrbb (this is the sound of me scrambling back into this thread because I thought of something else)
so I was infodumping the entire plot to my friends as you do and while I was just running through dominion of hate I had a (REALIZATION) and had to break to lay on the floor for a bit but.
odio went back to rebury hasshe's sword. not oersted mind you. I hadn't even thought about it before now I just found the sword at his grave and was like yeah that's where it's always been but oh my god even after becoming an evil hate god he had enough respect for his last hero to go back and rebury brion and I'm very emotional about that I'm so emotional about th.
now is this mainly just in memory of hasshe because he didn't have a body to bury? probably! do I get really really fuckin sad if I consider that maybe odio knew that hasshe wouldn't want his relic and his legacy stained with the blood of the kingdom he toiled to save so chose to leave it behind out of respect? abso fucking lutely!! I feel that self aware interpretation lines up w the other utility of leaving brion behind though, letting the protags find it and ultimately giving them the path to defeat him. he's not dumb enough to have done that on accident
sorry guys I'm replaying the final but not final sorta final chapter again and Im Going To Readmore This for my friends who are going to play live a live because I have thoughts and it's a spoiler.
I'm emo about how subtly it's hinted that oersted really idolizes hasshe like how he starts picking up moves that hasshe knows and it's really sweet until he ends up picking up his philosophy too. I'm also emotional about even during the dominion of hate when he changed all the location names heros rest changed to last heros grave and wauuugh... even when he's severely fucked up he saw him as a true hero and meanwhile you've got hasshes ghost in akiras trial feeling Oh So Responsible for his downfall (though really everyone is at this point) because the kid really was Just Like Him and he really should have seen the warning signs. it's a twisted form of idolization you've got in dominion of hate because you've got odio parroting hasshe's misanthropic philosophy wholesale and still respecting him far beyond his death while hasshe can do nothing but watch full of regret as this younger version of himself put in a Much Worse turn of fate eagerly follows all the steps he Regrets He Had Taken and ack
