Bucky’s not blind. He knows you’re beautiful inside and out and how your energy reflects on everything you do. The kindness in your heart and the serenity in your soul attract people to you. The fact that you’re the most gorgeous person on the planet is just a little added bonus.

This Saturday afternoon is spent shopping for a new summer wardrobe for your three-year-old son and maybe snagging a couple of cute pieces for yourself.

Bucky completely clears his schedule every weekend without fail to devote time to you and your child together. This one starts with a brunch. You are dressed up all sweet and pretty for him in a dainty white sundress, enhancing your body in all the best ways. You look breathtaking, and Bucky hasn’t been able to keep his hands off you. He’s not sure how he’s supposed to behave for the rest of the day until he can get you back into the bed.

You seem to have caught the attention of the young waiter, whose pale skin grows a splotchy red every time you thank him for his service. He stutters out a thank you, boldly initiating eye contact but quickly darting away when Bucky sits up just a little bit straighter, a little bit taller.

Later, after a successful shopping trip, you hold back a giggle as your son darts around the playground while you are seated next to Bucky on the bench.

“What’s so funny, baby?” he furrows his eyebrows, still a bit peeved at how the sales associate at the previous boutique you three visited wanted to set you up with her son. Showing you pictures and talking him up. Bucky was busy on the other end of the store, letting your son wander around to burn off more energy. His ears perked up at your conversation with the older lady. He argues that what he did was not petty or childish in the slightest, but the way he all but stalked over to you just to place a possessive hand on your waist and an almost vulgar kiss on your lips had the poor lady coughing in discomfort as she quickly busied herself with folding clothes.

Then suddenly, your son appeared and began poking at your calf, “Mama, can we go now?” While you remained breathless with your cheeks burning, Bucky quickly snatched him up, kissing his forehead before leading you two out of the boutique. A few minutes later, you’re in the car, and your son gets your attention from the backseat. " Mama, mama!” you reply, turning around as Bucky pulls out of the parking spot. " Yes, baby?”

“Dada said we have to save you from the monster lady! He said she was going to steal you from us! Did we safe you, mama? " His chubby face is twisted in concern.

You looked at Bucky with narrow eyes, a light smile tugging at your lips: " Yeah, baby, you saved me. Thank god I have you and Dada to protect me!” Bucky just had a smug smile on his face, not at all ashamed of what he had done. Your son giggled in agreement, no longer concerned and instead focused on the cars passing by. You fiddled with Bucky’s fingers on your thigh as you admired him while he was driving when he leisurely brought your hand to his face, pressing a kiss to the palm of your hand.

“Nothing,” you giggle, watching your son run around the slide instead of sliding down it, “I just think it’s cute how jealous you get.” Your voice has a teasing lilt as you look up at him, playfully squishing his cheeks together. Bucky rolls his eyes, his hand grabbing your wrist gently to easily remove it from his face as he moves your hand to trace over the diamond ring adorning your ring finger. With a slight smirk, he brings your hand up to kiss your ring finger, intertwining your hands and looking at you with a glint in his eyes.

He brings his face closer to yours, lips hovering but not touching as he speaks lowly, “Our next stop is gonna be a jewelry store. I’m getting you a bigger diamond so everyone knows you’re well taken care of.” He places a peck on your parted lips before turning around and calling for your son, who looks ready for his afternoon nap, as he holds his arms out for Bucky to carry him.

finding neverland, a review of sorts

hello! this is a sort of an after the fact "live blogging" (except all in one post 💀) of my thoughts as i was watching finding neverland (a.r.t. version). i basically just wrote whatever i was thinking down as i was watching, so this is truly very raw (obviously, i've gone in and cleaned some things up + added gifs to help those who read it (and myself if i come back to this post) figure out what on earth i'm blabbing about).

I think I touched briefly on Fine Gent's background but didn't go into details. He's a cautionary nightmare who often visits the young and reckless, particularly those who are just getting the first cracks in their rose-colored glasses in regards to romance. Someday I may write a scene where he's performing his function, but he's a riff on the gothic lit trope of man and monster - think Jekyll/Hyde or the man who says his prayers by night that turns into a wolf when the moon is right.

Things are going... slowly. Lots of irl obstacles eating my writing time. But I'll get there! Thanks so much for reading and supporting! It means the world.

For context:

Hana is the last of her tribe - the Kumiho. At the young, ripe age of 6 she witnessed her father’s brutal death as her mother held her tightly in her arms and fled. Months pass; food scarce as a fire had spread throughout the land during the intense battle.

Soon enough Hana’s mother falls. Prioritizing her daughter’s well being over her own, she would not eat a single bit of food. If Hana left any scraps, only then would she feast. Though weak and on the brink of death, Myeong encourages her daughter to live a long life and apologizes that she can no longer be around to protect her.

Years pass, Hana’s alone for a majority of her life. Much too frightened by her past to approach any humans that may stumble upon her island. Until one day, a man with - what seemed to be - a Jolly Roger tattoo’d on his back appears. Though she intends to ignore his presence as she did the others, he somehow manages to stumble upon her. In the most unflattering of ways as well.

Dripping in water, the fish she intended to eat flailing; hitting her a few times in the face with it’s fin; as her wet fur clings together. Her meal hits the water - unintentionally saved by the freckled male as she immediately flees. Images of her father being pierced by metal and her poor mother’s thin, frail body fill her mind as she runs.

It’s night. Any chance that the stranger would leave the island is now gone as he found what he was, most likely, looking for. Kumiho’s were quite the rare species since their brutal massacre all those years ago. Many thought the tribe was just a myth. A silly child’s tale. There was no knowing how much one would pay to have the unrivaled beauty of such a creature.

As she hides away, Hana can’t help but to think such terrifying thoughts. What would happen to her? Would he take her away from the island? From her home. Where her father and mother lay resting for all eternity. If she were stolen off this island, she wasn’t too sure what she would do. Die of heartbreak seems appropriate.

The snap of a twig earns her full attention. Ears straight and alert, she can’t help but to scan the entirety of the thick greenery. On most nights she was in awe at the forest’s ability to rebuild after such a disaster. It was admirable. Yet now she cursed the beautiful bushes and wild flowers that obscured her view. The rustling of grass and fallen leaves were easy to tell where her attacker was coming from.

Gathering all the courage she could muster, Hana pounces forward. Hand drawn back, she pins the man down. Low growls rumble in her throat as long claws replace her fingers, ready to strike should he try to fight back. But…. he doesn’t. If anything, he seemed rather happy to be in such a situation. His eyes take her in, running along her form. Like a shy girl, her face tints pink.

She threatens him, asking what it is he needs from the island. The stranger seems to be in a trance, only broken as he finally meets her gaze.

“You’re beautiful.”

Is uttered into the air.

Flustered, Hana doesn’t know what to do. She doesn’t know what to say. She didn’t want to kill him, no. Only to frighten him, thinking he would run with his tail between his legs from seeing her act so feral.

“I’m Ace.”

Ace. A name.

“You…. aren’t afraid.. of me?”

Mentally she curses at herself for how utterly broken she sounds, the gentle whisper of her words fill the cool air. Yet Ace smiles widely; and Hana’s taken aback. It’s the most warm smile she’s ever seen. The loneliness of these past few centuries have come back and hit her all at once. Her stance falters and Ace takes the chance pushes himself up.

Hana hadn’t notice but he was much.. bigger than she was. Still on edge her pink fur puffs up like an angry cat as her eyes narrow.

“You need to leave. Immediately.”

Mustering all the courage she could, her voice comes out unwavering. Certain. Yet she found herself not wanting to be alone again. To have to go back into hiding as she had for years. It seems this Ace has somewhat similar ideas.

Instead he gets closer. His face mere inches from her own as he just. Stares. It’s then he breaks out into a grin.

“You haven’t told me your name yet. I gave you mine, it’s only polite to give me yours.”

“It’s Hana.”

“Hana.”

An involuntary shudder runs through her body as he tests her name out on his lips. Before she’s able to ask - no, command - him to leave he’s rummaging through his bag. It’s then that she takes notice of the black ink on his bicep.

“Here, sorry about earlier. I didn’t realize you were fishin’ I thought you were drowning or somethin’!”

There, in his hand, a fish. Dead of course, but one similar to the one she lost. Tears sting in her eyes as she shakily reaches out and takes the offering.

“What is it that you want from me?”

“Hm? Me?”

Bending at his waist, a finger points directly at himself. As if he was confused about whom she referred to.

“Well, nothing. There isn’t really anything on this island as far as I can tell. I’m lookin’ for someone, but I can best assume he wasn’t here.”

Ace’s expression turns serious as he speaks. Then his eyes are back on the confused Kumiho and his smile returns. Standing back to his full height, he gives a bright chuckle.

“Well, actually I was hoping you wouldn’t mind keeping me some company.”

Hana jolts in surprise at what he said. Company? Her? But… well, there wasn’t anyone else on the island. As he mentioned.

“I..”

Her eyes dart from the fish, to him, and back to the gaping fish. If he tried anything funny, she could just eat his liver.

“… okay.”

If possible, his smile grows wider.

So it’s 4am and my brain wouldn’t physically let me sleep until I drew something regarding Mer! Cyrus but seeing as it’s this early I only had it in me to do the tail but I thought I would send it in anyways.

I used elephant ear Bettas as the references mainly, along with the original half moon with the speckles. Always kinda thought he would be a long boy with a huge ass tail and excessive fins because of course he would. The top side view is kind of a mess but hopefully this is halfway decent and ya maybe like it??? I might do Connor if I have some free time if you wanna see it? I dunno, here ya go I guess? I don’t know how to submit things 😂

I think it’s the detail I like most. And you’re absolutely right: he has a longer tail (he’s a king!!) with several fins around it, so you totally got the point!!

I think this is the closest to how I imagine his tail yet, the colours are fantastic: just the right mix of grey, blue and those tiny freckles that make me swoon because they’re so CUTE and you got them SO RIGHT. Don’t you absolutely dare say that I might not like it, because I love this so much and I’m so touched that you spent your time drawing this for me. You’re truly a sweetheart.
