Vocalsynth doodle page!! I haven’t doodlepaged in ages!!! ^^ Started off with No plan, Song of Eared Robot came up on the playlist so i drew Tetobot, then i just kept going w the singing robots bc they’re the miracle cure for my artblock apparently. Only stopped bc while drawing Po-Uta I made the “mistake” of listening to his demo song and after that I was too busy sobbing /pos to pick a new synth :’D

If the colour saturation is Way Too Much on any of these uuh blame my computer screen, as always it tells naught but lies but I’m too tired to doublecheck on my phone x). Also i might go back n shade some of these properly, so if i do i’ll tweak the saturation while I’m at it ^^;

4 - If you could put this character in any other media, be it a book, a movie, anything, what would you put them in?

Got really stuck on this so I looked over some of my highest-rated books I read in the past year, and I came up with Roadside Picnic by Arkady and Boris Strugatsky, which I just finished, and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest, which I reread a few months ago. I think Johnny would be fascinating as a stalker in post-first-contact supernaturally-irradiated Canada, or as a patient under Nurse Ratched, though with a less tragic fate please&thankyou.

5 - What's the first song that comes to mind when you think about them?

Not gonna say the actual first song that comes to mind because right now in my head Johnny has ONE soundtrack song and that is the song I'm using for the Johnny vid I'm working on. And I don't wanna give that one away til I post the vid. The second one I think of... well, to be honest, it's Sweep the Leg by No More Kings. Not very original lol, but true.

22 - If you're a fic reader, what's something you like in fics when it comes to this character? Something you don't like?

Something I love -- I love when people play with his relationship with music, and specifically using music/his Walkman to deal with trauma.

Something I hate -- To see him woobified or using therapy speak. It makes me shrivel up all over. Peak "he would not fucking say that".

Okay so I really enjoyed miraculous awakening it was first of all such a pretty movie and it really fixed A LOT of the issues the show has imo.

My main issue is that they didn't have time to show more of certain things bc they started with them getting their miraculous and ended with them defeating Gabriel. Like everything was a bit too quick or at least quicker than i wished for but with how the show dragged things forever I take the movie no doubt over it.

Now talking about the good. This movie was so PRETTY to me like my babies looked so cute. I was giggling and smiling at the ladynoir scenes they were so cute together. I really loved the animation.

The songs were pretty nice too and the sequences were so prettyyy. I watched the english dub because I mostly watched the show in english, even tho it's not my first language, and I get that the difference between the speaking and singing voice for Mari is big but I don't mind it really. I am pretty sure that the singing voice was the french dub actress and she has a wonderful voice.

Gabriel song was a fun little scene and he was so goofy dhdh

Now the main thing I am really happy about (apart the obvious not dragging for years the identity reveal) is that they fixed the main issues with the characters. Like Marinette was handled so much better. I usually adhere by my fanon version of her that doesn't lean so heavily on the insanity the show loves to pull far too often, so movie Marinette? That's my baby fr!

I wish we had a little more of Adrien but I guess it makes sense we saw more of Cat Noir with how he is technically who Adrien is at his core.

Gabriel is not actually an irredeemable monster who doesn't care at all about his child so that's good. It was nice that Adrien actually got to confront and see that his father was the villain.

If they had gone for at least two movies to explore the storyline they used for this one I feel like it would have worked better and gave them time for things that didn't get to be explored.

But the sequel will happen and we'll see what they do from here.

Also the final battle was so intense like.. they went full death and destruction I was so surprised.

The action scenes were so well done and so cool. Seeing Cat noir go up the Eiffel tower and then the fall was so cool. And all the other fight scenes too.

And the final scene ? It was so cute and satisfying to see them reveal their identity like that. Can't believe they cut before the actual kiss tho dhdh that was such a tease

Anyway great movie for me honestly I enjoyed it a lot and I will wait for the sequel because it really scratched the spots the show always left open.

Suzume Movie Review

ok so where do I start [checking notes aka last night rants on my twitter]. I always want to elaborate my review so it's not just "It's great!" but without spreading spoilers. Now I'm confused haha.

Visual

Amazing as usual. Not just realistic, the colors are also, how do I put it, pleasant to eyes? Especially the colors in the sky part. Sometimes I caught myself gawking to the screen, it's That Prettyyy :")

Audio

Very suitable is an understatement, idk how to explain audio shjsja. There are some sad scenes that I don't feel any sad (im old ok), but the background song spreads the vibes immensely that I'm ended up tearing up a bit. Definitely added to my daily playlist!

Characters

Suzume and Souta has very different character, but somehow compatible. An adventurous highschooler that could rebelling against her family to do things she wants and a very family-oriented college student that resigned to his fate as the Closer (and eventually the Keystone).

As for the side characters, Tamaki-san is my favorite. She's a hardworker, worrywart but ofc that's understandable. Souta's grandfather is kinda annoying at the hospital scene, but that's reasonable too, mind you he came from different generation from Suzume and Souta's. Their characters are very realistic, Asian parents' brand.

Plot

Disaster happened -> Two strangers meeting -> They fight the calamity together -> Strangers-to-lovers trope. Boring? I saw others review on twitter and they said yes these kind of plot is boring, besides three Makoto Shinkai's movies in a row has the same general plot. BUT NOT FOR MEEE. They are similar but still different in soo many ways.

Compared to the other two (Your Name and Weathering With You), it's the female lead that help the male lead to comeback to mortal world. Suzume's ending is not an open ending, no one forget each other, just they happily ever after. The calamity still exists as long as the world is but they had each other. ROMANCE IS NOT DEAD

Conclusion

SOOOO I love this movie!!!!!!!! I'm never get bored of Makoto Shinkai's strangers-to-lovers story, even if as the older I watch them the more I can't relate with how the leads falling in love with each other in just a week or so. Guess that's a personal thing lol.

Also this review is very biased bcs I was watching at 4DX 2D studio, where my experience must be different from watching at the 2D ones. It cost twice than the usual 2D tix (count it 6 times bcs I paid for my sister and brother's tix hhhhhhH), but hella worth the price!! Highly recommend to watch in 4DX if it's available in your place for the best experience.

It's so funny when Souta and Suzume got played by Daijin, kinda reminds me of my cats ajksjk DEVILISH FELINE

When Tamaki-san yelled at Suzume at the parking lot... I totally get it. I felt that sometimes towards my cats. Her anger and worry is understandable. I too will yell and shout at my children if they run away from home and can't tell me the reasons and just say "you won't understand it".

ANDD still on Tamaki-san and Suzume's bantering, when Suzume yelling back "That's why it feels suffocating!!", damnnn was it hits so close to home.

I amazed with Suzume's courage when she was trying to hitch-hiking car. I could neverrrr trust strangers :/ (but that's fiction for you ig)

The Dreamies were on their way to inkigayo to perform their last stage for their comeback; hello future and were as usual, divided into two cars. Jaemin, Jeno and Jisung in one and Hyuck, Renjun, Mark and Chenle in the other. Being bored out of their mind and having sung all the songs they wanted to, Jaemin scrolled through twitter to see what the czennies were doing. He came across a czennie account where they said how interesting it would be to have the dreamies hang out with y/n, this has been something that the czennies have been asking for ever since Jaemin revealed that you're his best friend.

"Hmm.. why not?" Nana thought so he proposed the idea to have an ig live with you as their guest, this means that they'll be meeting you for the very first time. Clearly excited after hearing about how amazing you were from Jaemin they quickly agreed. Their manager passed the phone to them and Jaemin clicked the 'go live' button.

Waiting for their beloved czennies to enter the live, they decided to sing an on the spot made up gyeranmari song remix.

Ting! "Message from Nana"

That's weird he said that he had a schedule. You unlocked your phone to check the message that read, "y/nieee join the liveeee'"

You opened your instagram to see that Nct Dream's account was going live so, you clicked on it to not have to deal with a sulky Jaemin later.

"oooooOH Y/N's HerE" Jaemin shouted while Jisung and Jeno covered their ears desperately trying to recover from that frequency attack. You laughed and commented a sorry to Jeno and Jisung for being the cause of Jaemin's shouting. "How do I invite y/niee in the live" Jaemin muttered with his eyebrows furrowed and lips pouting in concentration. "OH I found iT!" He shouted, his energy being all over the place at the fact that he could talk to you again.

You accepted the request but had your camera off because you were in the midst of getting ready. "Y/NNIE OPEN YOUR CAMEURAH!" Jaemin shouted wiggling his eyebrows. You giggled and turned on your camera with your concealer unblended, "hey Jaem" you said softly looking at the camera.

"Jeno-YaH y/nnie's here and you're just all quiET" Jaemin nagged while smacking Jeno like an old asian aunty. Jeno shyly waved at you while saying a low "hi" as you smiled back at him, both your cheeks pink mirroring each other. Jaemin giggled, "Ooohh Jeno's a shy boyyy" he screeched out while wiggling his eyebrows.

"JisungiEEEE come say hi to y/nieE" Jaemin said like an asian mum forcing their child to talk a relative they never knew existed till that very second. "hi noona" he greeted shyly covering his growing smile with his hoodie as you cooed at him. Jaemin being the cameraman he is, he instantly switched the camera unto Jeno who was seen with a pout and yk his usual pouty face. "Jeno-ssi are you sulking HUHH you're jealousSSS" Jaemin said jumping up and down in his seat in literal excitement.

Jeno's eyes widened as he looked away from the camera and your smiling face, "isn't y/nnie so prettyyy" Jaemin asked Jeno, shoving the camera in his face. Said victim nodding his head with his face still covered. "Her ig is @y/n'snothere" Jaemin said as him and Jisung teased Jeno, the czennies in the comments enjoying the show and occasionally commenting to tease Jeno and compliment you.

"Ask her for her number hyung" Jisung said having a similar mischievous face as his mother (Jaemin) encouraged him. "nooo I can just ask Jaemin for ittt" Jeno whined with his hood still covering his face. The comments were filled with encouragement for Jeno to ask you directly, "the czennies want you to ask her directly hyung, are you going to ignore the czennies?" Jisung taunted, Jeno taking a deep breath and letting out a ahhhrhdhjkfs, he finally gathered the courage to turn to the camera to look at you directly who was applying lipstick.

Entranced by you, he was silent simply staring at you in adoration. He seemed to have forgotten that it was a live because anyone and I mean even the most naive person could tell that he's into you. "Um.. y/n do you- can I have your number please" Jeno asked as Jaemin and Jisung celebrated along with their manager who's driving with an amused smile on his face. "of course" you said smiling with your dimples showing, "Jaemin will give it to you"

The comments were wildin' at the fact that they could witness one of the Neo's beginning of a blossoming love story in real time. "guys, we're here" the manager announced as NoJaeSung waved goodbye at you and the czennies with Jisung and Jaemin promising to keep the czennies updated with your blooming love story. One can only imagine how chaotic the waiting room was when all 7 of the dreamies gathered together with the newly found information.

Last tv show I watched: I just finished rewatching The Umbrella Academy season 1 to get myself psyched for season 2. I also just finished watching the netflix mini series documentary ‘Unabomber: In his own words’ which was pretty good. And I am also currently binging The Office (US) and am just starting season 8. 

Fav original character: So i am writing (admittedly mostly just in my head although a little less then a quarter has been written as a rough draft on a word doc) a rather length fantasy/vampire novel. Its part romance, part drama, part revenge fantasy, part anarchist vigilante revolution au and tbh part me just self projecting my trauma and dysfunctional life onto my characters... And whilst it likely will never see the light of day because of my lack of motivation to write the entire thing down and instead just reference it when i am day dreaming. I really vibe with the alternative universe as an escape from the real one i am living in and i have a vested interest in the characters i have created in it. And whilst there are numerous ocs from this that i have put an alarmingly long amount of time (literally years) into developing all of which i love and adore i do have two favourites. One named Taylor who is a gay 2946 year old idiot/himbo (vampire obviously). He is hot, sweet, kind, caring, funny, understanding, stubborn, the mum™️  friend, a romantic fool with a a hint of mummy issues and anger problems and a complete fucking allergy to guilt. And the other is his prodigy/person he turned vampire named Meredith. She is 354 year old hot mess and is kinda the opposite of him in that she is homicidal, manipulative, cunning, devious, fearless (almost to a fault), strong willed women. Who is very smart, has a strong/forward and somewhat off putting personality, low key a bit of a bitch but is very protective of those she loves and has good morals and the desire to right all wrongs even if through violent revenge if she sees fit. She is the leader of a criminal underworld revolution seeking to bring revenge and justice to the powerful and untouchable evils of the world. And he is her loyal side kick that lets her run the show as she is a natural born leader, but also works as a the voice of reason and logic to her. All the while having his own sub plot of being torn between chasing his love interest despite the danger it possesses. Or sacrificing his own desire for connection and love for fear of the consequences despite it meaning living a sad and eternally lonely life. Thats just a very brief summery of those two. They have a very close but complicated relationship with each other, like annoying siblings but imagine if you had to live with your siblings for centuries. And they all have there flaws (some more obvious then others) as well as dark, morbid and tragic histories but it makes them what the are today both the good, the bad and the downright problematic. And yeah i’d like to think one day i will write this out properly and others will read it and connect to or relate to these characters. Maybe love them, maybe hate them, maybe initially hate them, like is designed with Meredith, but come to truly love her once they begin to understand her and see her potential thats hidden under layers of ‘don’t fuck with me’. But until then they are my characters to play around with and build upon and thats exactly what i intend to do.

2) thank you for mentioning runaway ggu bc this made me remember how much i love runaway?--not that I forgot but this reminded me specifically why i love it. but specifically on ggu, it’s interesting because you mentioned grounded movements bc i noticed that he’s lighter on his feet than i would have expected. but it’s weird because at the same time I feel like his steps must be ordained by fate. boy groups will use fast or complex footwork so I’ve seen boys occasionally stutter step or side step into the correct formation spot. I feel like I haven’t seen someone move with the assurance that ggu does. He sticks the landing every single the time. At some point he’s probably been a little off but he commits to every step so completely it looks convincing to me. So it’s a fascinating contrast between him being light on his feet but also completely steady in his steps.

3) ggu really gets to show off his light feet in shintoburi because it’s quite a bouncy choreo. his angles are great it makes the chorus choreo very legible. my favorite part of ggu’s performance is when jinho sings fire and he gets to go a little wild.

4) for the other songs i would watch a multiple videos to see what you said but i watched one fancam for do or not and i realized i really didn’t need to watch anything else to confirm! pentagon are really theatre kids huh. he has such a great performance face! he doesn't drop his performance face even when he’s not the focus. when people talk about great idol expressions it’s usually for really big dramatic expressions but i think ggu has great subtle expressions. he does ham it up more for do or not (as it calls for) but, i noticed his more subtle expressions in shintoburi

5) ggu’s cosmo solo moment is nice! cosmo has some great contrast between fluid and sharp movement too. i esp love that melt he does at the start of wooseok’s rap and his spin in the last prechorus. and he really delivers in the last thirty seconds of the choreo

2) i went back and rewatched runaway and you’re right!! ggu is so light on his feet! i think i may have said grounded where i meant purposeful (but i truthfully cannot remember what i originally wrote). he’s SO confident in his movement and that’s what covers up any little mistake. i remember being a baby dancer and getting ready for my first competition and my teacher told me “if you believe you’re right, even if you’re wrong, the audience will probably not know any different”

3) yes!! the angles!! the chorus choreo could be SUCH a mess but ggu nails it :// oh i agree!! that’s such a good moment. my favorite part i think has to be during wooseok’s verse

4) pentagon are a bunch of theater kids its true :/ i agree!!! ggu’s really great at keeping a consistent character and adjusting it to the whatever he’s performing

5) the! contrast! god it’s what i live for. those moments of “ba ba whoosh” (my favorite dancer vocalization to use while teaching) are really what it’s all about. cosmo ggu does deliver. delivers right to my doorstep with the speed of amazon prime (no idea if that makes sense outside of my own head)

The Love’s a Game reprise is very bittersweet, because it’s too true: everyone is going to be hurt in some way, whether she chooses one or none of them. And THAT’S why people hate love polygons!

The thought of Nathaniel betting on himself really amused me

I like how the theme of games keeps coming up - they are supposed to be fun, they are not supposed to matter, even if you lose you're meant to just shake it off and go back to your everyday life...but those things aren’t always true. They can matter and they can hurt. None of these guys are treating these dates like a game, even if they use the lingo and the people around them are placing their bets, because at the end of the day, they all care.

“Death by lightning bolt. It’s quick, it’s painless. I do like the guy, after all.” - idk I just found this line really, really funny.

I hope Valencia didn’t lose too much money, poor baby.

Greg and Rebecca’s end banter is really sweet.

So...this may be an unpopular and even wrong opinion, but I think that Greg’s date puts him even with the other guys, rather than necessarily ahead of them. Greg being able to tell Rebecca that she is the love of his life is absolutely character development: he’s come full circle from his fuck-up at Jayma’s wedding back in season 1: even back then, Rebecca didn’t need trappings of true romance (at least not by the end of the night) to stay with him, she just needed him to tell her how he felt about her. Given her mental health at that point, there is a very good question as to how long that would have been enough before she tripped back into obsession with Josh, but it would have meant something.

However, I think I will be very annoyed if it is played as the “truest” romance. Neither Josh nor Nathaniel said anything like that admission on their dates because it isn’t something they are afraid of because they have already told Rebecca that they love her - Nathaniel by his own admission has done this several times. Instead, their dates highlighted the qualities about them where they have fun with Rebecca. And it isn’t that Rebecca doesn’t enjoy the dates - it’s the ticking clock at the end that is freaking her out, because love is not a game.

That doesn’t mean that there isn’t the set up for it: they have paralleled Josh and Nathaniel a lot this season in regards to Rebecca, which does make Greg the odd one out and they would be able to have him be the endgame with that justification that he’s different...but given that and the way this episode is structured, as well as the consistent lampshading of Greg as the underdog, that really feels like the straightforward solution and this show...doesn’t do that.

And look at the wording of how the guys tell Rebecca that they care:

Josh: “It’s always felt like someone is writing a story about us” Nathaniel: “I think we’re meant to be together.” Greg: “You know you’re the love of my life, right?”

All of these lines, even Greg’s, with his lowkey, domestic date, are about the incredible narrative importance of Rebecca in their lives, in the past, present, and future. For Josh, it’s how she’s kept returning to his life. For Nathaniel, she made him imagine a new life going forward. For Greg, it’s how just being with her has such an effect on him. And, frankly, those sentiments aren’t exclusive to each guy - you can apply each one to all of them. But that’s also why I felt the dates turned out more even keeled, despite the structure. And at this point, I really doubt they’ll try to pull the ‘oh it isn’t genuine love’ for any of them.

In addition, People have been making the point for some time that having her pick one of the guys might end up feeling weird, because it would turn the show into the “Rebecca & _____” story, instead of it being Rebecca’s story. The most likely scenario to me is still that Rebecca ends up alone/possibly with Jason, while the other guys are shown to have moved on with their lives. Everyone who has followed this blog will know that I very much have my bias, and I always will. This episode did not change that one whit. But beyond that, given the spoilers for next week, I think everyone will get a little fanservice with their favored guys, but that ultimately, she will not be choosing any of them. But I think they will all be happy, and that means a lot.

I love this show, guys, and I’m going to miss it.
