idk if this is a real question or a joke but real answer is the BBC wasn't getting the young people viewers and they knew vaguely of youtube and internet people so as a way to get the Youths interested they approached popular creators

and phil was kind of perfect for the 2011 christmas special radio pilot as he had experience hosting shows (like battlefronters, apartment red, sap) AND had done an unaired pilot radio show with someone else prior but it didn't get picked up. so he had experience in traditional media plus an editing degree so he could edit his own content. also they've talked about how their managers back them were really pushing for traditional media as that was all they really knew back then.

so phil got offered a trial run radio special and asked if his bestest buddy could be his co host and then a magic happened that even stuffy radio execs saw

How do you come up with themes for the playlists and sets that you do? is it that you have a theme in mind or does it come up more organically after you put the songs together?

depends! often times i'll have a particular combination of songs that i build a set around, or i'll notice that a few tracks would probably sound cool to play together/would have a cool transition. sometimes i take inspiration from a particular vibe and start pairing songs together over a longer period of time (like with the cassavetean sounds playlist) and sometimes i just put together sets and playlists with a bunch of random stuff i would want to hear and figure out how to get from one genre to the next in a way that feels organic but still eclectic and fun. it also takes an immense amount of practice—i did a two hour set at the shop i now work at nearly every week for over six months and got feedback on how to improve and it helped immensely. there are some sets that just feel really right—the halloween inspired one i did mid-october last year remains one of my favorites—and it's only because i practiced all the time that i recognize what worked and can incorporate that across a wide variety of genres and vibes now

But you’re absolutely right: she would be ever so gentle. Idk if you could call it a kidnapping. She has to physically restrain herself not to kiss away the adorable furrow of Shadowheart’s brow when she cusses her out and threatens her well being 🤭 I think she knows Shads is all bark and no bite (with her, anyway).

Tbh I could see her providing wine and smutty novels, whatever Shads likes! Idk where she’d take Shadowheart, but I like the idea of her just…kind of moving in with Serena. And Shadowheart is a not a true “hostage” (the doors are open, she is not restrained, she just can’t bring herself to leave bc she’s finally living her domestic little dream w/ Tav lmao).
