Free Verse Hippie Poetry…Summer Daze

Summer haze

gaze

ing

at the water

like glass

current moving not too fast

just rolling along

like your favorite song

on a transistor radio.

Nowhere to be, nowhere to go.

Gentle breeze lifts your hair

without a care

in the world

that seems so far removed

you hope this doesn’t end too soon.

The sun is high and it’s not even noon.

Tanned feet

sun-kissed cheeks

another sip of strawberry wine

{What is a Hippie} Leather straps & beads people with needs, long hair & glasses surrounded by a world that harasses. A tribe that has risen filled with vision, oftentimes politically correct, never neglect the finer things like leather rings, and tattooed things, Inventors of the holy jeans. Friendly peeps not Jesus freaks, words with meaning and souls with feeling. Sometimes we joke, we like to smoke, they raise a hand and say, "PEACE MAN". They smoke their pot and share a thought, it can't be bad if they're seldom sad. So sit back before you judge and listen, there just might be, something you're missin'.
