ok fellow oakworthy truthers i DO believe that they will go canon someday but i don't think it's going to happen for a long time. they're gonna slowburn it

like if you think about it: we've had a lot of fluff-y crush-y sort of moments (mostly on normal's part, since he's the perspective we have) but there hasn't been any truly resonant Significant Emotional Moments between them, which is really what a relationship is gonna be based on.

and norm's conversation with hero in today's episode is evidence of that! norm needs to stop idealizing hermie and putting him on a pedestal and needs to meet him where he's at and have a genuine connection. like yes, normal thinks he's cute and sweet and has school spirit, but they don't really know each other that deeply because hermie is operating on like six levels of masking at all times.

and hermie clearly knows that- his rejection of normal has been on the basis of normal not really liking him but just wanting validation. and i think this is because hermie has never really let anyone in the cast really know him! he doesn't think normal really wants him because he thinks (rightly) that normal doesn't know the real him. so normal needs to earn that trust before they can really be In A Relationship.

i truly do believe in Normal Oak's Bisexual Audacity. but we gotta wait for it, and i think the relationship will be stronger and more compelling for it!!!
