Oscar's race pace today was dreadful lol I was expecting him to drop carlos in 5 laps. fated rivals 😔

i mean i think in the first stint he was clearly much faster than carlos (even tho not quite fast enough to overtake, which is expected in imola) but to b completely honest i did not look at him at all in the second stint😭 after he did that cute overtake and carlos came out behind him my eyes were exclusively on landos gap, first to charles behind and then to max in front. i trusted oscar to keep carlos at bay but didnt rly pay attention to him beyond that ngl

i will say the deg was super complicated to manage today - the comms kept talking abt diff phases and lap-by-lap adjustments - so that just means weird shit will happen in terms of race pace, like lando being frustrated w a kind of shitty pace and then suddenly and inexplicably flying. will kept telling him he was saving his tyres but i dont even think that was landos priority, he was trying to push but couldnt. so considering all that & oscars troubles w race pace / tyre management it doesnt surprise me that he couldnt get into a good flow in his second stint. ik u can get sick of hearing it sometimes but hes still learning & improving every race like. we're lucky that we have such a young driver w such a high ceiling of potential who STILL despite having sm room to grow has been on landos tail since the moment he came in. its the perfect situation to be in imo, despite oscars current shortcomings
