i'm getting the impression that radfems are getting more and more transphobic with each passing day, for example: i remember that every time a radfem got called transphobe, they would mention gc trans people like debbie hayton, fionne orlander, miranda yardley and etc as a defense, basically the "i'm not racist, i have a black friend" shit, but nowadays, all of those aforementioned transsexuals got lamfed and discarded by them, and radfems simply respond "yes, and?"

honestly things are getting more and more intense and it's annoying to see people's very extreme takes on trans issues. people are often initially peaking by going straight into the outright transphobic crowd, because they feel so relieved that people are talking about the misogyny & homophobia in mainstream trans activist spaces and being an excessive hater for a while feels cathartic. it really does worry me at times, and it's endlessly annoying, but i want you to know that i have been making progress! often people use the terf label and act in mocking ways that contradict the nuance they'll say in DMs etc. it's a way of saying "fuck you, you call be a dumb terfy cis cunt for calling shit out WELL I'LL SHOW YOU HOW TERFY I CAN BE!!!" to the general tra public, while internally having waayyy more nuance on these topics than they let on in their posts & replies.

it comes from a very hurt place, after years of facing bad stuff in tra spaces. and that isn't to totally excuse it either, bc at times they really do harm trans people and add to rightwing transphobia/gncphobia. i think your best bet is to follow detrans people, tirfs and nuancefems. but when you see someone call themselves a terf, remember that terfism as tras see it is usually a myth. the term is used by radfems as a way to mock how we are treated. even trans radfems sometimes use it as a joke, which is fucking hilarious to me ngl gskgdkj it's used in a kind of edgy way but often ends up being disrespectful and making dysphoric & detrans people on radblr uncomfortable. but many if not most radfems grow out of their excessive mockery of normie trans folks and lack of nuance. eventually they usually do get annoyed at transphobic radblr, often after actually having deep talks with non-inflammatory trans folks. many ppl in my server now cringe at their old trans-hating way of handling things in the past on radblr. they've grown from it and now seek out trans & detrans voices on radblr, and healthy criticisms of radical feminist spaces. they've finally realized how toxic deeply transphobic & gncphobic parts of radblr can be and it leaves a sour taste in their mouths when they see it around. we mock it among ourselves endlessly. apparently it's a billion times worse on radfem twitter and ovarit etc! i think radblr has big potential for more nuance in the future. yes, the trans hate is worsening in some corners, but in my conversations with those people i've usually been able to add nuance in their mind and we come out of it learning more about eachother's side. knowledge is power! and actually talking with terf-identified radfems can bring a lot of comfort that things aren't as dire as we may think, people are just seeing others in bad faith and don't realize the bigger picture. both sides, mainstream tras and radfems, have harmed each other and not taken accountability. each side has their own unique issues. nuanced radfems do exist, and radfem reform really is possible imo!

Yeah Barrett is…. Not it. When the helmet thing happened I saw people defending him for “being just a kid who forgot to take his helmet off” and I was like uhhhh yeah no he did that on purpose because he sucks, but yeah he was not a good person but he is tragically really good at hockey

Mitchell was nice, my sister knew him and she liked him and didn’t have anything bad to say about him. Him and his sister were both popular but like I said, they’re both very nice to everyone like his sister never bullied anyone even though she was in the prime place to and she would like actually talk to me sometimes like we would have full conversations honestly stan the stevens family

I do not play hockey I can’t even skate 😂😂 imagine a Canadian who can’t skate. I played soccer and baseball growing up and I also used to bowl, lawn and alley, I went to a bunch of bowling tournaments as a kid I was actually pretty good

I do think Hilary knight is pretty so she’s okay in my book lol, I don’t know a whole lot about American players except the ones who married Canadian players but I think they’re all retired now…

If anyone out there wanted to make a list of the fastest ways to my heart: Rashomon stories. Give me a good Rashomon or give me death. I kinda figured what the end would be pretty early on, but that doesn’t mar the enjoyment of the narrative in the slightest, and watching the characters fall hilariously into place in one another’s stories is the delight we’re all here for in the first place. Perfect.

I thought that Graham guy on twitter was an okay dude who just criticized the 'bad apples' of the trans community, but he seems more and more condescending even towards LGB people. Or am I mistaken him for someone? I'm pretty sure you suggested some "sciency" people of twitter that actually tackle the real transsexuality and science behind that. Or is he just a bigot? (Also your blog is pretty cool. I'm new here but I'm going to stay. I really enjoy your debating and find your views interesting

He’s an ass imo. He has been a huge ass against a few trans women, LGB or not, that I’ve been following on Twitter. He doesn’t care about LGB people as much as he cares about shitting on trans people as much as he can, because it makes him relevant to the GC community there. Since most GC are straight women complaining about men having paraphilias they hate or being overall GNC, it’s easy to know what to say. He surfs on the lack of nuances and polarize the debate even more than it already is. There is only two sides for them: the trans women who are okay with calling themselves men to appease the women and live as men, and the TRA.

I’ve seen how trans women changed their mind with LGB and overal the GC community with time, with that polarization. Before they tried to appeal to women and bowed to them about the fact that they were men, and stuff like that. Some still do, most likely the ones who don’t pass tbh, like Debbie Hayton. It’s, as usual, a tale of people wanting to be part of a group, to not being pushed away. Then they realized that those women were more and more hateful towards any GNC behavior, for both men and women, and against the idea of passable trans women to simply live their lives as women. Because, for GC, and for Graham, those are already offenses, because females need their own spaces away from males etc etc, even though the vast majority of them don’t realize when a male is among them, since they look like females. 

Any other view, any other nuance, and the use of the cis ““slur”” are TRA for Graham and a lot of GC (not all of them though). Yes, cis being a slur is a big thing on Twitter it’s fucking hilarious. 

So Graham is on the “you’re a manmanman” side. It’s kind of funny to see that the supposedly feminists GC are all about Graham who acts like a spokeperson for them, when he’s a male. He’s “one of the good ones”. So yeah, big simp.

He probably talked about James Cantor and Blanchard, which are two proeminent scientists in the field of transsexualism, for better and for worst. But while Cantor and Blanchard don’t put any judgement on the idea that a number of non-homosexual trans women are autogynephilics (simply describing the phenomenom they studied), GC and Graham think that give them the right to dehumanize and hate on them. GC, Graham, a whole bunch of people, keep twisting science to push narratives and purity onto people, men and women.

Thank you for your compliments, I’m doing my best, I hope you’ll have a good time here. I find Tumblr much more trans-accepting than English Twitter is. It’s also easier to have actual conversation with people, even when you disagree with them. The trans part of tumblr isn’t constantly eaten up by TERFs, while the English trans side of Twitter is always eaten up and undermined by them. Honestly I wish the trans people on Twitter came onto Tumblr so we could share what we think and have good discussions about our own lives and experiences among ourselves. I regret that it’s not the case, because we all have to gain to come together, even with our different experiences and way of seeing things. This is also why I try to share about the views of HSTS or generally about things that I can see on Twitter.

Day 53/365 - Singin’ In The Rain

Don Lockwood is a popular silent movie star who also has roots in singing and dancing as well as stunts. He can hardly tolerate his leading lady, Lina Lamont, but the studio keeps pairing them in films for their romantic popularity. Lina is convinced they are in love, no matter what Don says.

At the premiere of their newest film “The Royal Rascal”, Don tells the crowd an exaggerated version of his life story and says that his motto is; “Dignity, always dignity”. These words are hilariously contradicted by various flashbacks of him and best friend Cosmo Brown. To escape from a crowd of fans after the film, Don jumps into a passing car driven by Kathy Selden. She drops him off home but not before belittling his talents after she claims to be a far more professional stage actress.

Later that night at a studio party, the head - R.F. Simpson - shows a short demo of talking picture, but the guests don’t seem phased. Don however, finds amusement when Kathy pops out of a giant cake before his eyes, and he finds that she is actually a chorus girl. Infuriated by his teasing, she throws a real cake at him but misses and hits Lina in the face instead! She runs away, leaving Don smitten and causing him to search for Kathy in the following weeks. While filming a love scene, Lina reveals that she had Kathy fired after the cake incident. When he goes looking for her, he finds Kathy working on another studio production and she admits that she has been a fan of his all along.

After a rival studio has box office succes with new talking picture “The Jazz Singer”, the studio head declares they have no choice but to make the next Lockwood and Lamont film a “talkie”. However, this presents problems, as Lina has a uniquely annoying New York accent as well as a grating voice. When a diction coach has no success with Lina, they go ahead with the test screening which is a massive fail - microphone placement is a disaster, lines are repeated left, right and centre, and Don is forced to say “I love you” to Lina over and over in front of a laughing audience. In the middle of the film, the sound synchronisation is also completely off, ensuing disastrous hilarity.

Don, Kathy and Cosmo orchestrate the idea to transform “The Duelling Cavalier” into a musical called “The Dancing Cavalier”, with a star number called “Broadway Melody”. Cosmo is inspired by the scene where Lima’s voice was out of sync and suggests that for the new movie musical, they dub Lina’s voice with Kathy’s. The studio head agrees to their pitch so long as Lina isn’t told about the dubbing. When she finds out, she is furious, and even more so when she finds that R.F. plans to give Kathy a screen credit and make her widely publicised after the film is screened. Lina threatens to sue him unless Kathy works uncredited, and he is forced to agree due to a clause in her contract that allows her to sue should she be denied a role of her choosing.

The premiere of “The Dancing Cavalier” is hugely successful. But, when the audience cheers for an anxious Lina to sing live, Don, Cosmo and R.F. simply tell her to lip sync into the microphone whilst Kathy sings for her behind a curtain. Whilst Lina “sings”, the men raise the curtain to reveal Kathy and expose Lina. Lina leaves in an embarrassed hurry and a distressed Kathy tries to run away too, but Aron then announces that she is the uncredited star of the new movie.

Later, Don and Kathy go to see the billboard for their new film “Singin’ In The Rain”, and share a kiss.

This musical is so interesting! It looks at a great period in film and musical history, when “talkies” first came on the scene in the 20s (pardon the pun!). The sound is very characteristically a 20s American movie soundtrack and it has a wonderfully happy nostalgic sound to it. I love the story and the songs - a staple of musicals.
