Higuain completed his loan move to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening and has linked back up with Maurizio Sarri, the manager he thrived under at Napoli. Chelsea have the option to extend Higuain’s loan from Juventus for a further season for an €18 million (£15.6m) fee and have also been given the option by Juventus to permanently sign the 31-year-old for €36m (£31.3m). Higuain was on loan at AC Milan and Chelsea were forced to wait until the Serie A club had signed Krzysztof Piatek from Genoa before pressing ahead with their deal to sign Sarri’s top target. ‘Gonzalo was our number one target in this transfer window and arrives with a proven record at the highest level,’ said Granovskaia.
